I have to say that the cover is absolutely adorable!

This heartwarming story follows Cody the Coyote, who feels like he doesn’t belong and is often teased by others. Cody is a sweet young pup who finds the noise of the world overwhelming, causing him to retreat to the forest. It is in this peaceful setting that he discovers valuable lessons, much like the lessons young children will learn as well.

The beautiful illustrations are richly detailed, revealing little bits of wisdom throughout the story, such as the importance of strength, inner peace, courage, and the value of belonging.

This engaging picture book offers great advice for readers of all ages! It's a charming addition to any child's library and makes for a thoughtful gift, especially with the holiday season just around the corner!

Cody is a coyote pup who is struggling with fitting in with others. Cody begins a journey learning to find himself as well as connect with what surrounds him from the Moon to other creatures like Owl's. Cody learns some wonderful lessons before he heads home.

Beautiful illustrations, moving story. I think this is a story that has a lot of life lessons that will happen in young lives and learning to connect or ask for help adapting in a situation that they struggle with. Really well written.

Cody, a sweet young coyote, felt like he didn’t belong in the noisy world, especially when others made fun of him. He escaped into the forest , where he sought peace, wisdom, kindness and acceptance.

So many nuggets of wisdom are tucked into this beautiful children’s book. They will be revealed to you as you accompany Cody on his journey throughout the forest.

I especially loved the Owl’s advice on how to be wise…Listen, think and wait. He also advised Cody to be curious and to have an open mind. Wonderful advice for all ages!

Perfection. Cody’s Whisper is a must have for all schools, libraries and homes with growing young readers. Malia Grace captures the importance of inner peace and how it is all around us in nature. To top it off the gorgeous illustrations that accompanies this inspirational story are just as breathtaking. The colors and those skies ohmygoodness in love with those. You don’t always have to be the brightest, the loudest, the strongest. You just have to keep moving forward at your pace, be flexible, be observant, listen, and be true to who you know you are.

I found a lot of comfort in this book. The pictures were beautiful and the words were reassuring. My daughter and I love being out in nature together and I’m always amazed at what she notices. I love how the sweet coyote gained wisdom from all for his forest friends. The suggestions at the end of the book were also helpful.

Cody’s Whisper is a gentle, reassuring story about teaching resilience to little ones and showing them that even when times feel overwhelming, quieting the mind, even for just five minutes, can make a meaningful difference in easing anxiety and stress. Cody finds comfort in the peacefulness of nature, which he loves far more than the noise and chaos of school. After a visit to the forest and some advice along the way, Cody returns to school feeling calmer and more prepared to face his day.

The story also highlights something adults know all too well: children absorb our emotions and mirror how we handle everyday stress. Through Cody’s journey, the book gently reminds us that nature has a powerful way of calming and quieting the mind. Even small moments, like stepping barefoot into the grass for a few minutes, can help us feel grounded and centered again. The book unfolds and softly reminds readers that storms don’t last forever, and sometimes the strongest thing we can do is wait them out. No matter what life brings, we are strong enough to overcome the battles we face. Even when obstacles block our path, we can adjust our flow, carve a new way forward, and stay true to ourselves and our roots. The rhyming is smooth and comforting, making it a joy to read aloud. The illustrations and coloring are beautiful and calming, perfectly matching the tone of the story.  Each page offers thoughtful teaching moments, encouraging little ones with words that feel gentle, hopeful, and empowering. The ending is wonderfully done with providing simple, practical ways to encourage inner peace and guide children through calming techniques they can use in real life. It’s a wonderful extension of the story and a helpful tool for caregivers as well.

Overall, Cody’s Whisper is a soothing, meaningful read that encourages resilience, mindfulness, and emotional balance. A quiet gem that lingers long after the final page. Definitely recommend!

“Why do I feel like a tiny whisper in a world full of noise?” Little Cody the Coyote really doesn’t feel like all the other animals. They are loud and boisterous, and he is quiet and calm. One day, he decides to go out in the forest, and find his answers in the beauty of nature.

From the moon, he learns that he is special and unique. From the sun, he learned that power can come from shining your inner light. From the creek, he learned how when obstacles get in his way, he can keep moving & carve his own path. He continues through the forest, and learns more valuable lessons from the tree, the fox, owl, wolf, butterfly and deer. After his time in the forest, Cody feels strong enough to face the world.

Beautiful illustrations, with vivid detail.

I especially loved the reminder from wolf to “find your pack”- friends and family who are there for you, so you don’t have to face the world alone.

There is a short message in the back for “Teaching Children to Connect with Nature and Restore Inner Peace” and some amazing hands-on, easy to use calming techniques!

Our family loves nature, and we definitely seek the forest when life gets hectic or stressful. We are all instantly calmed by the trees, the sound of rushing water, and the open spaces to walk & explore.

I could see teachers, homeschoolers, preschool leaders, and families using this book as a resource. A tool to begin conversations around mindfulness and using nature for calming.

Now, more than ever, we must teach our children to smell the earth, to taste the rain, to feel the wind, to watch things grow, to listen as the sun rises and night falls - and most of all to care. ~Avellino Farms

As both an educator and someone who helps to develop both pre-service and in-service educators, I am encouraged by resources that honor the whole child — mind, heart, and spirit. Cody’s Whisper does just that. In the tender story of Cody, a tender coyote pup who discovers the quiet strength of his own voice, young readers are invited into an affirming space of belonging, courage, and inner peace.

This book arrives at an especially critical moment. At a time when social-emotional supports are being wrongly eliminated from many schools, Cody’s Whisper stands as a gentle but powerful reminder that children’s inner lives matter. Learning to recognize, trust, and value one’s voice is not a luxury. It is foundational to healthy growth and authentic community.

The language and illustrations make this a story that resonates not only with children but with the adults who guide them. It’s a book that nurtures resilience, affirms gentleness as strength, and helps children see that their worth is not measured by volume or dominance but by the unique beauty of who they are.

I recommend Cody’s Whisper to teachers, families, and anyone committed to raising children who know they are seen, heard, and deeply loved.

My five year old and I enjoyed this one together. Each page was beautifully drawn and the story flowed well. I loved seeing Cody the coyote find himself by looking to others who were different than himself. It taught him diversity which was nice to see in the story. My son really loved the butterfly and wanted to learn more about how a caterpillar changed into a butterfly when we were finished with the story. Overall, I recommend this one highly to teachers as I feel like it includes plenty of great teaching moments!

Cody’s Whisper is a gentle and thoughtful children’s book that explores feelings of overwhelm and the idea of finding calm through connection with nature. The story encourages reflection and works especially well as a discussion-based read with kids rather than a traditional bedtime story.

The book’s greatest strength is how naturally it invites conversation. Reading this with children ages 3-5, we were able to pause and talk through each question Cody asks, and the kids were eager to reread the book to revisit the beautiful illustrations. The artwork adds depth to the story and helps keep young readers engaged.

While the message is strong, the text occasionally leans more toward telling than showing and can feel slightly wordy. That said, the children remained focused throughout and especially enjoyed Cody’s interactions with nature, particularly the sun and the wolves.

Overall, Cody’s Whisper delivers a meaningful lesson and creates space for open dialogue, making it a solid choice for parents and educators alike.

I am so happy to have had the opportunity to read a free prepress copy of Cody’s Whisper. If a reader does not already have a meaningful connection with nature, this book is a wonderful introduction to some profound insights inspired by the natural world. Malia Grace described some human struggles, feelings, and growth in ways that are both concrete and imaginative for young readers. Malia gives examples of challenges and self-doubt that are relatable to so many people. It is refreshing and encouraging to join Cody on his journey and see how he navigates his questions, discovers some wisdom from nature, and internalizes what he learns. I really appreciate the author’s note and the list of calming techniques found in the back of the book. Heart and spirituality are present in Malia’s writing which, combined with such beautiful and expressive illustrations, create a calming and inviting experience. I recommend this book as a special resource for children (adults too!).

Excellent read! Beautiful artwork and message. In this story we meet Cody, he feels like an outcast from his peers and different, while walking through the forest, nature and it’s animals give him some very valuable life lessons. Cody learns:
You are special the way you are,
You carry the power to shine everyday,
When things get in your way keep moving,
Even when life pushes against you, stand tall in who you are,
Being smart isn’t about knowing all the answers,
Wait before you act, trust your inner self,’
You don’t have to face the world alone, find your pack
Change is part of life, be patient with yourself
Being kind and gentle doesn’t mean being weak
All of these lessons Cody takes to heart and learns to be a better version of himself by being true to himself and not letting others’ words affect him. He learns to make new friends. This book is wonderful for children and adults alike, these lessons are great advice to take with you during each day.

Reading this story evoked some emotions that I was not expecting! First of all, the cover of this book and the illustrations inside are so vibrant!! Kudos to the illustrator!! Secondly, this book is very inspiring and I recommend it for anyone of any age, not just kids!

Cody is struggling in life. The kids at school make fun of him and he can't seem to find where he belongs in the world. He takes a walk in nature and learns more about himself and uses this new knowledge when he goes back to school.

Kids and adults can be mean and this book talks about ways that a person is valuable and how they can add value to the lives of others. There are practical tips at the end. The entire story is inspiring and I found myself tearing up a bit while reading it. This would be great to read with anyone having a bad day.

My first thought after reading this book was that it could easily be named “Everything You Need to Know to be the Best Human You Can Be in Thirty-two Pages.” Not too catchy, huh?

This sweet, soul-soothing story is like a warm hug for the heart. We follow Cody as he goes from feeling out of place to finding his way with the gentle guidance of his forest friends. Nature and spiritual touches weave through the pages, making it both inspiring and grounding. The stunning illustrations pull you right in, and the bonus? Eleven simple calming techniques that are just as helpful for grown-ups as they are for littles. Perfect for gentle souls, quiet moments, and anyone who needs a reminder that who you are is exactly who you were meant to be.

Cody’s Whisper is one of those children’s books that feels like a deep breath you didn’t know you needed. Cody is such a tender, relatable little soul, the kind of character quiet kids instantly connect with and watching him find courage through nature’s gentle wisdom is genuinely moving.

Each encounter, from Moon to Fox to Butterfly, feels like a soft, wise nudge toward emotional resilience and self acceptance. The illustrations wrap everything in warmth, as if the forest itself is rooting for Cody.

What stayed with me most is how beautifully the story honors kids who process the world softly. It reassures them that quiet isn’t a weakness it’s a strength. A lovely, comforting story that parents, teachers, and sensitive young readers will treasure

Cody’s Whisper by Malia Grace
5 Star Review
Cody’s Whisper takes us on an adventure into the life of a little coyote named Cody. He is shy, quiet and really doesn’t like loud noises. This adventure helps us see how he deals with these sounds and fears by finding a bravery that he didn’t know he had.
Malia Grace has written a lovable story that is easy to read and understand. It is brilliantly illustrated and is brightly colored to help draw little ones into the story. This story is supportive of sensitive children and educational in helping other children understand them. I will be sharing this book with my younger students who have some classmates that are sensitive. What a great learning tool!

A beautiful story to encourage children to speak up as well as listen. Tantrums are not the way to be heard. That is the message my grandchildren and I learned while reading this story. Cody does not like loud noises, he also feels he is not heard or listened to. What will you receive after reading this story? Will this book give advice for children as well as adults? I think Yes! I love this author's books. The pictures are beautiful and engaging. She included techniques to help teach our shy or quiet children, in the back of the book. I feel this book needs to be read to all children. It also needs to be on shelves of our libraries and on our personal home bookshelves. Yes, it's well written and easy for our children to follow.

Cody’s Whisper is a beautiful story that explores the emotions in children and tries to teach them about mindfulness. I loved the main character, Cody. The author has perfectly captured the complex, and often misunderstood, emotions children can feel and the way they experience the world around them. It offers a great perspective to what they might be going through and how they might be able to deal with what they are feeling.
I loved the techniques offered in the book as well. They have been great to try and practice with my son to see if it helps him manage his own emotions. The illustrations in the book really bring it to life as well. Overall, this is a fantastic book that is well worth the read.

I’m so glad that I happened to pick up this book. I wasn’t familiar with the author before, but I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more of their work. Even though my kids are a bit older, the message still really resonated with us. The story itself is relatable for any age because feeling like you don’t quite fit in is pretty universal. The illustrations are perfect and go hand-in-hand with the story at every step. I also loved that calming techniques included at the back of the book. They’re useful for everyone, not just the kids! Teaching these skills early can make such a big difference, and the author weaves them in so naturally. Putting this in the classroom, the library, and your home will be a surefire winner.
