What happens in Vegas is supposed to stay in Vegas—unless you accidentally marry your brother’s best friend, the star quarterback, after a few too many shots. Welcome to my life.
I’m just a sunny flight attendant who ended up saying “I do” to Jaxon Steele, the NFL’s notorious playboy.
Known for his charm on and off the field, Jaxon is as arrogant as he is attractive, making our faux marriage a spectacle for the whole country.
Forced to play the doting wife while Jaxon battles on the field, our initial bickering turns to playful banter, hinting at something dangerously real.
Just when I think I’ve mastered this fake marriage, life throws the biggest curveball—I’m pregnant.
With our unexpected future on the line, can I trust the player who’s stolen my heart not to fumble when it matters most?
Flight attendant on the plane flying the football players to the game, Emily Vaughn’s brother’s best friend enjoys driving her crazy, as always. Jaxon Steele is the star quarterback of the Dallas Outlaws and she has known him forever. After she catches him with one of the stewardesses in an embarrassing situation, he invites her to come to the game since she seems so interested in his behavior. He makes a bet with her that if his team wins against the “unbeatable Hawks”, she will owe him a kiss. So she bargains that if she wins the bet, he will leave her alone, stop pestering her, for the rest of the season. Not sure if she will actually come to the game, he finally spots her right up front in the stands. And they WIN!
The team takes Emily with them to Vegas and they all celebrate. After three drinks, she thinks she might have tried to join the male strippers. Stepping out of the bathroom, she walks right into Jaxon and he collects on his bet! Neither of them can stop and she knows this isn't just about the bet anymore -- it never was. She woke the next morning with something warm and heavy draped across her waist. As she tells herself they probably just passed out on the bed, too drunk to find their own rooms, she spots the shiny ring on her finger… and the marriage certificate! Emily thinks they need an immediate annulment. But for both their reputations, Jaxon’s publicist Jill tells them they should stay married for a year, presenting a stable, married, responsible lifestyle. Will they be able to do this? Or will a little something make a change in that decision?
What it’s about… We all know the saying what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. This is true until you accidently marry your best friend’s brother who happens to be they star quarterback for the Dallas Outlaws. Yep, that’s right one too many shots and Emily, a bubbly flight attendant has got herself tangled up with Jaxon who has no intention of letting her out of the marriage, even if it means being in a faux marriage to help redeem his arrogant playboy image. With an extra curveball thrown their way they need to determine if their feelings for each other are real.
My Thoughts Let’s get my one disappointment with this book out the way, I read this book way to quickly!
Lark starts the book strong diving straight into the story, you get a bit of back story between Emily and Jaxon through out the book but from the beginning you know Jaxon’s favourite past time is annoying the shit out of Emily – “his favourite game. Poke. Provoke. Watch me burn”. At first you get the sense he is the typical obnoxious NFL player while she is Miss sunshine who wants nothing to do with any of the players.
Alas after Jaxon provokes Emily into accepting a bet, she is certain she will win and a few too many shots, we start the whirlwind of their faux marriage. Despite Emily’s best efforts she cannot ignore the attraction between them and things start to get hot and heavy as their chemistry ignites and we are treated to a couple of open-door scenes that aid the storyline. Shifting feet they decide to give their relationship a proper try, only for life to throw another curveball their way and Jaxon needs to confront his own feelings.
I would have happily spent more than a few hours in their universe, the banter in this book was a treat. I would consider this book as a re-read if I’m stuck on what to read next and I know a few people who love these stories so I will be recommending this book to them.
Ha! I love Emily… ‘overgrown man babies’ indeed… Jaxon? Not so much…. lets have the hots for my best friends sister, then proceed to hook up with every other female in the vicinity… 🙄
But…. oh my god, I haven’t laughed so hard in a while. This particular story has been done so many times, but I seriously enjoyed this one. She’s a neurotic virgin, he’s a troublemaker, so from very eraly on, I knew that hilarity would ensue.
The evolution from enemies to barely tolerable happens gradually, then life intrudes. Poor Emily, the author really decided to put her through the wringer! There was quite a bit going on, and the author did an amazing job showing the growth that Jaxon had, and when Emily let loose, boy did she.
A lovely read, with a little bit of spice, and has the potential to be an awesome series starter if the author decided to go that way.

In need of a quick, humorous sports romance? Then this is for you! I love how Lark's writing flows so easily, I just keep reading page after page until all of the sudden I'm at the end of the book! The characters are relatable and lovable in their own ways, and even though sometimes you think "that couldn't happen"... or could it? My rating system: 5=will read again 4=recommend to everyone 3=recommend to anyone liking that particular writing style/trope 2=do not recommend 1=DNF.

This was such a fab read. I loved Emily and Jaxon so much. You just knew that he had the hots for her by the way he acted towards her and when they finally got together I was just hoping that he would find the courage to tell her the depth of his feelings. Loved Hendrix too, he was such a great voice of reason and I'm happy that he stood up for Emily and made Jaxon think about what he'd done.

It is clear that our sunny flight attendant knows what is good and bad for her which is why she has never let herself think of Jaxon. She has put him in a things you want but don't let yourself have box their entire lives. Its clear how he feels and what he wants - can she move on from her preconceived perceptions and take a chance?.

Jaxon was a butt especially on the plane, getting his know shined... he knew he was attracted to her, which is why he kept bothering her. Hendrix was crazily overprotective, but he loved his sister. Knowing that he couldn't play without her there, he should not have flaked over the pregnancy. But still, at least it ended well.... I wish she could have had the baby before the story ended, but...

To save his reputation, they stay married with rules. However I like that their personal feelings and attraction doesn't let it stay that way. I'm glad that Jaxson doesn't let being spooked destroy their love and marriage.
Jaxon and Emily is without doubt two of the most amazing characters to read in this book by Lark. I am going to warn you that this book is going to leave you breathless and turning the kindle pages just as quickly as a wildfire taking off.
Good book loved the relationship between Jaxon and Emily. Just wish the book had been longer at least until the baby was born. Loved Hendrix and Jaxon's friendship. Good story.
Faking it with the Star Quarterback by Lark Monroe was such a good read. Emma and Jaxon had undeniable chemistry. The book was a well written quick read. The author always tells a complete well written story.
