It’s been eight months since I was rescued from the Nether. Eight long months since the Legacy Curse was lifted, and the world changed permanently for the better. The Upheaval is over, and most people have started to move on with their lives.
I love that for them.
Honestly? I’d love to join them. Move on with my own life, forget everything that happened, get a decent boyfriend, go back to my cozy job at the local bakery of my beloved small town, and live a very human happily ever after.
But that all feels pretty impossible when I haven’t figured out how to fix what the liches did to me in the Nether. There’s also the fun little fact that I spend most of my time hanging out with my best friend, never mind that she’s a ghost now.
Literally and metaphorically, I’m haunted.
When I finally help uncover the mysteries slumbering far below the citadel, my world is turned upside down. Now, volatile ancient experiments have their eye on me. It’s a lot to handle...but at least I have them.
The noble ancient warrior who calls me his mate. The chaotic half-demon gladiator who craves another taste. The grouchy, unreadable mercenary hired to protect me with his life. And the tormented soul I’ve known forever, back from the dead with a new purpose.
Between my life story making the front page, the upcoming Seeking, political unrest, and these irresistible legacies trying to convince me I deserve more than just one boyfriend…
I’m not sure what the gods have in store for me, but I have a good feeling about it.
Should this book have been a duet, to give the relationships more time to breathe and grow? I think so. Could Zak and Kaenon have used more character depth? Probably.
Despite all of that, was this book a delight? Absolutely!
I fell in love with two side characters in Cursed Legacies: Asher Douglas and "Blue-Haired Ghost Girl" / AKA Jessica . So I was thrilled for them both to feature so heavily in this book.
Heidi Elise is shy, insecure, and conflict-averse. Basically, the anti-Maven. But she was likable, easy to relate to, and very well written. She may have been the empath, but the author did a great job of making ME empathize with Heidi and her trauma - both pre and post-captivity. Healthy female friendships are a rarity in this genre, but Heidi's relationship with Ghost Jessica gave me all the warm and fuzzies. Aside from her lifelong crush on Ian, her relationships with the guys were the definition of Insta-Lust, but with this being a standalone, in a world where fated mates exist, I'll give it a pass this time.
In recent years, I've outgrown any appreciation for the "Alpha male" character in favor of sensitive guys, funny guys, smart and awkward guys. But characters like Asher are a good reminder that strong, dangerous, commanding MMCs are not the problem - it's the toxic Alphahole behavior that so often accompanies the archetype. There is a difference between an Alpha and an Alphahole and Morgan B. Lee knows what she's doing. If I loved Asher in Cursed Legacies, I really loved him here. I only wish we got to spend more time with his hellhound, Dev.
I also really enjoyed Ian. I know everybody loves Enemies-to-Lovers but whisper 'Best friends to lovers' in my ear, and I'll hit that "Want to Read" button so fast. Sure, he cyber-stalked Heidi (lovingly), and could've had more depth, but you can only do so much in a standalone. I liked him and I liked the way he fit into the group.
Stronger characterization or not, I was probably never going to love Zak. He's the "Baelfyre" of the group, where if he's breathing, he's thinking about sex. That's not to say that I disliked him, but just that he'd be at the bottom of my ranking. That elemental ability to contol metal was pretty sweet, though.
I think that Kaenon had a lot of potential. I adore a sweet, innocent, and eager-to-please MMC, but he really wasn't given much to do. He was just kind of...there, in the background, while Asher and Ian made things happen.
Loved all the Cursed Legacies cameos. Everett and Silas were my favorites, so I loved that they're such a part of Heidi's life and we got to see them the most. Maven is a queen and I freaking love how after all this time, Asher still finds her creepy af. Such a fun little callback, along with the crows.
One last note. I learned from reading Cursed Legacies that I don't hate ALL RH nicknames. Just the ones that all the other writers use. Morgan B. Lee is the exception. Buns of Steel! Face Card! Thirst Trap! Carolina Reaper! Even Shorty! Somehow, this author has the ability to take the things that I usually hate, and use them ways that put a guaranteed smile on my face. It's like magic or something.
I don’t have strong feelings either way about this book - I liked it enough. I think the best parts are when we get to see the Amato quintet again which is slightly unfortunate for the main characters in this story. I didn’t feel strong connections to anyone but I also didn’t hate anyone either. If you are not a fan of insta-love, you will not be a fan of this book. I wish I had more to say but I just don’t…
This relies too heavily on a fated mate/magical bond to do all the heavy lifting in the relationships. The short timeline does it no favors. The majority of it takes place in a few days. Boo!
5 stars!! I honestly wish this book had been a whole saga so we could’ve had more time to develop each connection—but it didn’t feel rushed, so I’m not that upset.
The characters had the potential to carry at least three books. They were genuinely interesting, with unique backgrounds and personalities.
The story follows Heidi, Everett’s sister, whom we met in the Cursed Legacies saga. She’s an empath with a prey-shifter form, which was pretty awesome and new to me. She’s sweet and shy, and I loved how none of that stopped her from communicating with her men about what she needed and wanted. Yes, there were some secrets, but they weren’t overly frustrating.
I’ve realized I really enjoy sweet FMCs. I don’t mind when they’re not total BAMFs, snarky, or intense like many RH fantasy heroines. Heidi has some self-esteem issues, and I genuinely wanted to kill her parents (and some of her exes) for what they put her through in the past.
The MMCs were delicious—that’s honestly the perfect word for the four of them. I won’t expand too much because I believe one of them could be considered a spoiler, but I will say my favorite is Asher. We met him before as the bounty hunter who helped the main quintet in the Cursed Legacies saga. He was down bad for her from the second he laid eyes on her. He tried to stay professional (since her brother tasked him with being her bodyguard), but that crumbled almost immediately when he decided he wanted to make her his.
What to expect
4 MMCs who are possessive, protective, and sooo in love with the FMC Almost insta-lust for all of them Two relationships technically “started” before this book — one is friends to lovers, and the other involves him helping her through her heat Sweet FMC who communicates what she wants, is flirty at times, and isn’t ashamed of her sexual desires No OW/OM drama. They don’t see anyone but her from the moment they meet. Really good spicy scenes Standalone — I just wish we had more of them HEA
Silly rant to the author: This universe you created is amazing, and I would absolutely read a hundred books set in it. It genuinely makes me sad to have reached what (for now) seems to be the last book in this world.
Haunted bond ⭐️⭐️.8-⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was okay. I’m bummed I was quite excited to get back in this world. I guess it’s very hard to top writing men as good as she did my baelfire, crypt and Everett. This started very slow for me and I think dragged a lot at the beginning. It picked up once we got to meet all her men and see their interactions with her. This was cute, fun, underwhelming, horny and rushed. I don’t believe for a second any of them were in love after being together for 4 days essentially lol except Ian because the history between them. I think a lot more romantic building could have been done. I also needed more from Zak and Kaenon. Her central focus was more on Ian and Asher which I didn’t mind but I wanted more from those men too. The plot was kinda bleh and the action scenes lacked when they did happen. The smut was pretty decent. I didn’t love Heidi but she was fine. I wish I got some more of my sexy men from the other books but I did like what we did get. I did think these men were pretty sexy too and Ian and zak had a lot of potential for me. Yeah this was easy and sometimes good and underwhelming but also enjoyable ahah. I think the send off with her bestie at the end was very lackluster. This held so much potential to me and had really good moments but yeah just was fine. Sad the world is over tho and I think if this was longer and had more of a plot and romantic build up/character build up it would have been higher. I wish we also got to see more of their reactions to each others backgrounds and getting to know each other. Very insta love/lust. But some fun smut 🥳
4.5 ⭐️ after not beeing able to finish any books for weeks because nothing kept me invested, I read this in 2 sittings (I had to go to bed unfortunatly) 🤭
it was cute, fun, fast-paced. the guys are adorable and hot. they fall first and HARD 🤭 one of them literally calls her 'his future wife' whenever he thinks about her 🥹
I like how much we still heard about/interacted witht the Amato quintet - that was very nice 👏🏼
If you have read the Cursed Legacies series but not this one, what are you waiting for?? go read it now!
I’m not going to lie… I was bit disappointed by this one. After finishing Divine Fate. I was so excited for Heidi’s story, but this just felt so rushed to me. The whole thing felt lacking. There was cute parts and parts I enjoyed don’t get me wrong, but overall it felt lacking. Like even in her own book, Heidi was still a sidekick to Maven idk. She just didn’t grab my attention, and I’m so sad because she had all the makings to be a fmc I love.
10/10.….no notes other than to say if Morgan writes it, you bet your ass I'll be reading it. She could come up with 400 more books of these quintets and I'd spend the money to read them all. This book is going to give me the book hangover of a lifetime, but it's so so worth it 💙
No to dalej jedna z moich ulubionych autorek, ale jednak trochę rozczarowanko. What's the point? No, ale było słodko i miło i fajnie że mogliśmy zajrzeć co tam u kwintetu Amato ;)
I am so sad to see this universe wrap up, but what an ending!
Side note: This book is not showing up correctly on GR. It should be listed under Morgan B. Lee's official author page but it is not. This is the spinoff of the Cursed Legacies that reunites the original characters as well to give a final send off to this universe. You should start with Blood Oath before reading Haunted Bond.
Cute easy fast. Loved the world. Wish it was more flushed out. But I liked it. It’s not a spicy read at all tho and i dont know. It wasn’t one I was sad about but also. It didn’t hit the spot.
Eu ligo? Não!!!!! Me diverti e é isso! As vezes é tudo que a gente precisa! E eu daria cinco estrelas só por rever o quinteto da Mavel!
genuinely everything i could have wanted after finishing the Cursed Legacies series because this was AMAZING! The stakes seemed a lot lower in this one which i really enjoyed because i knew that we were going to get a happy ending and a good resolution to everything that was happening by the end of this book, instead of having to wait across multiple ones. i think the thing i enjoyed the most was seeing all of the old characters come back in this one!!! i wasn't too sure if they would, but they actually popped up so often that it really did feel like i was still immersed in what was happening in the original series.
I'm legit crying right now. I can't believe we're saying goodbye to this incredible world and all of its phenomenal characters. The Cursed Legacies series became a fast favorite of mine and I absolutely loved every second spent in this amazing world that Morgan created. I cannot believe it's over. But what a way to end it!
I loved seeing Heidi get her HEA; that girl definitely deserved it! I'm so happy that Asher Douglas was one of her men because I was so intrigued by him when he came in during the main series. The way all these guys obsess over their woman is just the hottest thing ever! Ian the super hot vampire hacker/stalker, Zak the incredibly edible half demon half metal elemental who just couldn't stop obsessing over the little taste he got of his "Candy" girl and became so enamored with her without even really seeing her face while helping keep her alive during her time as a captive in the Nether, and Kaenon the ancient warrior shifter with not one, not two, but FIVE inner beasts, one of which being a black freaking dragon! Ooofff I loved all these guys so much. I devoured this book in 3 days and it would've been a lot less if I didn't have children to tend to. 🙃😅 But it was so hard to put this down; I just couldn't stop!
Jessica, Heidi's ghostly guardian BFF had me rolling during every single scene that girl was in. She reminded me so much of my best friend; I loved the hell outta her and can totally relate to her priest corruption kink—Athanis was such a nice touch! Jess constantly had me crying with laughter every time and crying from sadness by the end when they had their final goodbye. 😭😭😭 All her nicknames for the Amato quintet were hilarious! Maven—Carolina Reaper Everett—Face Card Crypt—Nightmare Daddy Silas—Thirst Trap Baelfire—Goodest Golden Boy
I got so giddy during every one of the Amato quintet's cameos, too. I'm so excited that they were a part of this story.
Literally the only 2 things that could've made this even better would've been a scene where Bael and Kaen got to bond over both having dragons and went flying together. That would've been so freaking cool and hilarious bc... Bael. 🤣 Also, call me crazy or gross but my favorite part of vampires are the blood kinks 🤷♀️🙃🥵 so it would've been really hot for at least one scene where Ian got to thoroughly enjoy Heidi's period at the end. Or if we'd gotten a scene where she went into heat! That would've been so hot!
All in all, I'm really sad to say goodbye but also very excited to see what Morgan comes up with for our next adventures! This will definitely be a tough one to beat, but I know that whatever she does come up with next will also be amazing!

I rarely eyeball-read nowadays, but if there's anyone I will make an exception for, it's Morgan B. Lee. Maven and her gang live in my head rent-free, so anything that will gift me with additional Cursed Legacies content is a must-have.
Heidi: We knew Frost's sister already, and she had a pretty solid background as a character. Even though she moves past her issues pretty fast thanks to the power of love, she made sense, and I didn't mind reading about her. She can't match Maven in any sense and, to be completely honest, this book probably wouldn't stand on its own (at least in my eyes, since Heidi wasn't really my jam) if it wasn't for the masterpiece of the original series.
Asher: He was my absolute favorite already, and he finally got his time to shine. I'm so glad he got his happy ending but, at the same time, kept his personality. I loved how his development was affected by the events of the Cursed Legacies finale. He carried this book, and I'm not even mad about it.
Zak: He was my second favorite. Demons in this world are just super fun. I did feel like his personality didn't match his arena fighter background, though. He felt way too carefree and, in general, very removed from his past.
Ian: Vampire friend-to-lover. If I was a fan of this trope, I think I would like him more. He was obsessed with Heidi to begin with, and she got over him faking his own death way too easily.
Kaenon: We barely know anything about him except for his backstory. I think the magical translator was a cop-out; if Morgan had embraced the language barrier, it could've been much more fun. I don't really see any reason for him to be with Heidi except for their mate bond, but I didn't dislike him. At least I was able to tell him apart from the other guys.
Jessica: The horny ghost. She was cliché, but I also loved her pervy ass and got really attached to her.
Final Thoughts: I might have cried at the end; I wish there was more coming from this world. If this book did anything for me, it made me want to reread Cursed Legacies, but I promised myself I will wait for the last audiobook before I delve into the series again. I ate up every crumb of the Amato Quintet, but I also feel like them showing up so much prevented Heidi and her guys from truly taking center stage.
If you go into this expecting an extra-long epilogue, I bet you will eat it up. It wouldn't work as a standalone.
Love that Maven got her own botanical collection. Many Easter eggs from the main series throughout the book, and I enjoyed catching up on the main gang to know how they are. Esp Crypt being his obnoxious self.
Heidi and her quintet dynamic is quite a refreshing change from Maven’s, though I greatly enjoyed both. I loved seeing Asher get his chance for love, he was hilarious in the main series but here he really gets fleshed out. The other MCs were also integrated smoothly into the plot. Though again action doesn’t seem to be Morgan’s strongest point, it was enough to get the plot moving. The characters banter is funny too, as it was in the main series. It was insta love here, but considering how short the book was i find it somewhat well paced so this can be forgiven.
Also, another thing I love about Morgan’s writing is her expansion on the world by smoothly weaving storylines and historical details in her characters background. The ancient shift warrior for example, and his ghost friend who helps to translate for him. We get introduced to ghost bracelet tech, translation devices etc through the characters usage, and interactions with other characters provide more depth. Another example is how Asher’s right ear was hinted to be permanently damaged when he comments on the translation device not fitting his left ear, then later his comrade’s admission of guilt to him confirmed his injury not only to us readers but also to the other MCs.
The blue haired ghost returning as Jessica here, and the introduction of guardian angels to watch over their loved ones was another favourite aspect of this book.
I can see why Asher is the keeper, though it’s a bit weird since he’s the platonic bond while the entire quintet is romantic with Heidi, so it doesn’t really change quintet relations here. Not a complaint though.
I’m a bit confused on why Heidi changed her name though, seeing that most end up calling her Heidi anyways, it doesn’t seem to be used significantly. Glad to see Devil return, though it took so long lol.
Overall a lovely conclusion to the series.

If you have read, and loved, the Cursed Legacies series, this stand alone little story set in the same world will have you feeling nostalgic and relieved to be back amongst some of your favourite characters, and a few new ones, if only for a short time.
Written almost like an extended epilogue to the main series, Haunted Bond follows Everett's sister in the aftermath of the Upheaval, eight months after the entity was killed and she lost her best friend. A stage four empath and a prey shifter in a world where weakness has always been eradicated, Heidi is used to keeping herself hidden away after a traumatic childhood amongst the Frost clan.
But when she helps rescue and then release three ancient beings from beneath the Nether, the world learns of her secret Frost identity and suddenly Heidi finds herself in need of protection from a world that has never been kind to her. She just never thought that her actions, and those of her overprotective brother, would lead to her four fated mates turning up on her doorstep - literally - when she had all but decided the legacy life just wasn't for her.
As a result of this being a stand alone reverse harem novel, we don't get the same depth in character as Lee's four book feeder series, but we still see a beautiful bond established between Heidi and her boys. The comparison between Maven in Cursed, who was trained to hide all emotion, and Heidi, who felt everything, made for a nice contrast and it was great to see the focus shift to Asher and Ian, both of whom we didn't learn enough about in the main series. It was also very clever how the author revealed answers to other questions we had, such as how Crypt knew Heidi and connected other plot points into the narrative, such as Everett's helping Silas with the Garnet Wizard.
An entertaining little spicy aside and a must read for anyone who enjoyed the Cursed Legacy series.
I didn’t know how much I needed this story until I started reading it—and once I did, I couldn’t put it down. From the very beginning, I was completely captivated.
Heidi is such a sweetheart. She’s strong yet soft, lovable without being naïve, and I found myself rooting for her in every scene. And the men? Each one was more irresistible than the last.
Asher, the powerful red giant blessed by a goddess, falling for her at first sight? Swoon-worthy. Ian, the troll and her brother’s best friend (with the absolutely adorable nickname “Snowflake”), secretly loving her all along? The tension was everything. Zak, the half-demon who didn’t even need to see her face—just one taste and he was gone? Deliciously intense. And Keon, her innocent shifter mate? My heart melted.
The banter between all of them was top-tier. I laughed so much throughout the book, and the chemistry felt natural and effortless. What surprised me most was how deeply invested I was in the story itself. I reached almost 70% before any spicy scenes appeared—and I didn’t even notice. That’s how compelling the plot and characters were. But when the spice did arrive? Let’s just say it delivered.
And I can’t forget the two friendly ghosts. They brought humor, warmth, and unexpectedly emotional moments that had me laughing one minute and tearing up the next.
It was also such a treat to see characters from the previous series again. I’ve missed Maven and her men, and their appearances felt like the perfect nostalgic touch.
Overall, this was a perfect ending to a beautiful journey—funny, emotional, romantic, and yes, very spicy. I loved every second of it.
This book was EVERYTHING. MORGAN!!!!!! I am so sad you have wrapped up this universe but I am also so so happy with how it ended.
I loved that Heidi was given her own story-it was not rushed or filled with a bunch of nonsense to make the book bigger. It was perfectly paced for a solo novel for after the fall of Amadeus. I LOVED getting any update on Maven and her Quintet and the cameos they all had through out the book. My favorite for this book were the ghosts, specifically her best friend Jess. While this was a boom for Heidi to reclaim her strength and find her quintet, it was also about friendship. Her best friend was her guardian Angel and I was a big fan of Jess and all of her cute nicknames for everyone. Maven as Carolina Reaper? Crypt as Death Daddy? Jess is my girl!!! All in all this book had great, witty banter all around and there were far too many times I found myself laughing. I really enjoyed Heidi’s personality as the FMC as well.
ASHER. FUCKING. DOUGLAS!!!! I loved all of the mean but Asher really did it for me-full in kicking my feet & giggling . He already was redeeming himself from his time in Maven’s books but oh my lantaaaaa did he really show out here. I’ll listen to you any day sir!!!!
All in all, I loved this final book. I’ve included my favorite highlights simply because I love Morgan’s writing style and I need to go back to certain passages for a good laugh. It wrapped up this universe so well, and while I am truly sad to see it over I am excited for what Morgan has coming next.
I loved the Cursed Legacies series, and I am so glad we got to continue the story a bit with Haunted Bond. I think that Heidi is a very different character from Maven, creating a new feel within this universe while keeping the original main characters as a nice side focus this time around. In particular, I really appreciated getting to continue getting to know Asher in a more personal way, and seeing glimpses of the Amato quintet, including flashbacks with Crypt, were absolutely what I wanted out of this.
Overall, I felt very engaged with these characters, I really liked the epilogue feel of the plot progression from the original series, and I loved all the new relationships. However, if this had been a complete standalone instead of a follow up to the original series, I don’t think that I would’ve liked the overly quick relationship development and the heavy reliance on fate for the bonds. Giving Heidi a past with several of her bond mates helped, but honestly, there was too much history and not enough on-page development for me. I know this was originally supposed to be a brief novella, and I am so thankful that it turned into a full length novel, but I really wish that it had been drawn out into a duology to give more time to these characters. I think they deserved it.
She did it again. I feel a bit like a fan girl just loving every book this author has produced but I do. What makes Haunted Bond so good is that it is a standalone that capitalizes on the character introductions in the main Blood Oath series to get a good balance of story and romance in one book. The pace of the Blood Oath series was slow in the middle with a fast and explosive ending. I still loved it but Haunted Bond feels like a spot for the author to have fun without the pressure of a more elaborate narrative. Could I see this as a duology? 100% Am I sad it isn't? A little. But it's balanced as a standalone.
All four MCs are awesome. The two fresh faces get just enough back story to be interesting and the twist on the quintet dynamic is delightfully unexpected. I was worried that I would find Heidi's more delicate nature annoying but she reminds me of my close friends who are genuinely kind and taken advantage if for that kindness. (Protect at all costs) I am fatigued by the miscommunication trope so it's refeshing to have a character with baggage that is willing to actively accept help and work through it. The villain is...awful. I got the ick. Also when did Asher go from hilarious background character to hot?
I loved this little spin-off book from the main Cursed Legacies series!
I adored the little glimpses of Maven and her guys that we were fed, and I really liked the main characters of this book!
I know the author said this was a one and done spin-off, but I would love to spend more time seeing the dynamics and adventures of Elise and her guys! I enjoyed the personalities of all of them, and I would have liked to have seen Future Elise in her full, and loved, confidence!
However, this book did a fantastic job of introducing us to this relationship dynamic (romantic and platonic), and the pacing was supurb! Everything was wrapped up really well for a single book...even though my greedy little hands want more!
Morgan B. Lee quickly became an auto-buy author for me, and I cannot wait to see what she gifts us with next!
I do recommend anyone wanting to read this book read the Cursed Legacies series first! Start with Blood Oath (book 1). Events in this book reference events that occurred in the main series and the FMC in Haunted Bond is recovering from those events.
Having enjoyed the Cursed Legacy series, I couldn’t resist picking up this standalone to follow Heidi’s journey. Overall, it was a fun read; I laughed a lot and even had to call my own bestie once I put the book down.
Heidi is an interesting character with her empathic abilities, though she’s no Maven - so don’t go in expecting Maven 2.0.
Her romantic interests are intriguing, but as a standalone, you don’t get much depth about them or their powers, which is understandable.
The story could have benefited from some tightening. The Fae General & Ancient beings storyline, for example, could have used more fleshing out, though the gist was clear. I also found the ending with the Baird quintet a bit insensitive considering Heidi’s feelings, and her bestie’s sudden departure felt abrupt - it could have used a more personal or meaningful sendoff, maybe in a familiar setting. That’s just my take, though.
Despite a few plot points I didn’t fully agree with, it was an enjoyable read overall.
