Taylor Gray

Taylor Gray grew up watching too much TV and reading far too much romance. Now she’s a writer, she calls it research. She spends her days scribbling illegible notes in a notebook, dictating into her phone as she walks then trying to decipher the transcription, and wishing she could type as fast as her characters thought. Obsessed with the nature of relationships, working out what it is that keeps us apart and brings us together is something she’ll never get tired of. She lives in a house overtaken by plants and pictures with her husband, son and cat.

Autumn Falls is her first small town romance series featuring the Carter brothers, Jack, Logan, Brodie, Noah and Ethan. Having shot to the fame in their teens when they made up one of the hottest boybands on the planet, the series starts ten years after the band split up. Once as close as any brothers could be, they’re now little more than strangers. Broken, burnt out and dealing with the consequences of fame, it’s only when they come home to Autumn Falls and the ranch they grew up on that they can face the mistakes they’ve made – and the hearts they’ve broken…

Book 1: Autumn Falls – Logan’s Story

Book 2: Silver Sky – Noah’s Story

Book 3: Redemption River – Brodie’s Story

Book 4: Starlight Mountain – Willow’s Story

Book 5: Midnight Promise – Ethan’s Story

ARC Review - 2 ★

⋆˚࿔ the overall plot was okay but unfortunately i did not feel the chemistry between the characters. because of that, it was hard for me to stay engaged with the story. it also felt like the writing focused more on over describing the situations rather than actually telling and moving the story forward.

Thank you to Taylor Gray, HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter & NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

This was the second book in this series. I think it was just as good as the first one. The story handles some life issues with compassion. I loved the trail ride.
Looking forward to the next one

Quick Summary: A never been kissed romance

My Review: Silver Sky by Taylor Gray is book#2 in The Carter Brothers series. It is scheduled for release on 11/3/25.

About the Book: "For nearly ten years, Noah Carter has kept his head down on the family ranch, determined to leave behind the chaotic aftermath of the band he formed with his five brothers.

Ren never planned to stay in Autumn Falls...

...with secrets and old wounds between them, and the legacy of a fame Noah can’t seem to outrun, can they both decide whether to stop running?"

In My Own Words: A superstar rancher and a wandering orphan without a home get to know each other better during an unforgettable season of transition.

About the Characters:

Noah -> Haunted, closed off, grumpy, decent, hesitant

Ren -> Seeking, adaptable, curious, guarded, longs for home

About the Couple: Noah and Ren initially got off on the wrong foot, but they eventually found their own unique rhythm. The natural flow towards friendship seemed effortless once their walls went down. The kiss element was strangely intriguing and totally unexpected.

About the Conflict: I could easily sum the story conflict up with the phrase light but heavy. It was all about giving oneself permission to move past self and the history of hurts faced and instead moving into the present and future perfect tense of life and love.

About the Family/Community: The small town atmosphere was just right for Noah and Ren's like/love story. The nurturing aspects, the supportive connections, and the ever-changing movements related to healing made for a solid, believable read. The unfolding of the Carter clan is interesting to watch.

My Final Say: I liked this story. It was simple, sweet, and real. The way that the leads moved in and out of each other's lives in the short period of exposure revealed so much. The emotional backstory of both leads breathed life into this novel.

This story reads like a NA romance.

Other: Readers who enjoy grumpy x sunshine relationships, close proximity scenarios, love in unexpected places, and stories with a first and/or second chance at love angle may like this novel.

Rating: 3.25/5
Recommend: Yes
Audience: NA/A
Status: Clean
Level: 💛

Small-town charm, emotional depth, and a grumpy hero you can’t help but love.

If you’ve been following Taylor Gray’s Autumn Falls series, you’re in for an absolute treat with Silver Sky — but don’t worry, if you’re new to the series, this one works beautifully as a standalone too.

This time we step into the life of Noah Carter, Logan’s brother from book one, and honestly… Noah might be one of my favourite grumpy heroes I’ve read in a long time.

He is peak broody, closed-off, keep-your-distance energy — and I adored him for it.

After years of burying himself in routine and steering clear of the chaos of his past, Noah’s world is shaken up in the best possible way by Ren.

She’s quick-witted, chatty, warm-hearted, and absolutely unafraid to challenge him. Their very first interactions give you that delicious push-pull dynamic that instantly hooks you in.

Ren is the exact sunshine to Noah’s storm cloud, and watching their connection unfold was a genuine joy.

What really set Silver Sky apart for me was the emotional depth.

This story isn’t afraid to dig into grief, guilt, healing, and the quiet bravery it takes to let yourself hope again. Both Noah and Ren are carrying their own secrets and scars, and they meet each other at exactly the right moment — that rare kind of timing that feels like fate nudging two people together.

And yes… there’s even a clever twist on one of my all-time favourite tropes - only one sleeping bag in the tent.

Closed-door romance, but oh my goodness — the tension is immaculate.

Taylor Gray has such a gift for writing male emotional insight, and it shines in Noah’s chapters. His journey is tender, painful in places, and so rewarding to witness.

Just like Autumn Falls, Silver Sky is beautifully paced and full of that small-town cosiness that pulls you right into the Carter family’s world.

You feel the crisp mountain air, hear the murmurs of the community, and become so invested you don’t want to leave.

By the end, I found myself genuinely excited for whatever comes next for this family.

Silver Sky is emotional, heartwarming, and deeply satisfying — a story about finding love, healing, and the courage to step into your future even when your past feels heavy.

If you love grumpy/sunshine dynamics, closed-door slow burns dripping with tension, and small towns filled with heart, this one absolutely needs to be on your TBR.

I truly think this series is going to be a hit, and I cannot wait to see which Carter brother we follow next.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Silver Sky by Taylor Gray is the second book I've read by this author, and the second book in the Carter Brothers series. My review of the first one, Autumn Falls, should be a few scrolls down the page.

All five Carter brothers were once in a chart-topping boy band, a career that very nearly tore them apart. Noah never really settled into fame - he wanted to be back on his family farm, working on the ranch, with his Dad. Having encountered tragedy at a young age, Noah just wants an easy, quiet life - and he doesn't need anyone to complicate it.

Ren is in Autumn Falls not because she likes the name, but because she has found out a vital piece of personal information through a Private Investigator. She's waiting on tables while she picks up the courage to talk to the person she needs to see - but in the meantime, she meets Noah. The lads are in dire need of help with a cattle drive, and this isn't Ren's first rodeo...

Noah and Ren both enjoy the company - even if they're too stubborn to admit it. Can they help each other open up a bit and accept a helping hand when it's offered?

I really love these books. It's so refreshing to have a romance series that doesn't rely on explicit sex scenes to show the development of a romance. There's absolutely nothing wrong with an explicit scene (or twenty) - it's just really nice to have the option for a series, set on a ranch, without the appearance or mention of a schlong.

This author is really good at building tension, yearning, longing - all of my favourite things in a romance novel. There are also deeper themes at play - grief, regret, family, forgiveness - I cried more than once while reading this one.

After two books, I'm completely in love with the Carters and Autumn Falls, and I can't wait for Brodie's book, which releases in February!

I have to say, and I'm not sure if I said it in the other review, but I find these covers inexplicable. They're so bland, they really do not convey the excellent story inside. I hope they get an overhaul - it's a series that really deserves to be noticed.

Thank you to @onemorechapterhc for the ARC via @netgalley ❤️

This is my first book in the Carter Brothers series with a grumpy rancher and a hopeful drifter. Noah is looking for riders to help him with a cattle drive, but bodies are scarce, and the sassy waitress at the local restaurant was not who he had in mind.

Noah Carter is stubborn and serious, carrying the weight of the world due to the losses he has endured. He has created a protective shell around him that makes him wary of change and connection. He’s a man who feels most at home in solitude, until the spunky Ren enters his life.

I liked Ren, a foster kid who lived a life in which vulnerability was synonymous with weakness. Working on Noah’s cattle drive presents an unexpected opportunity to distract herself from the nerves that swirl around confronting her long-lost mom. My heart broke for Ren when she spoke of her lonely childhood and her dreams of being part of a family. She’s spent years learning to navigate life on her own, and despite her reluctance to rely on others, she feels safe with Noah, especially after an unexpected tornado forces them to share a tent.

Noah and Ren’s relationship feels a bit sluggish and like neither of them is really invested. They don’t seem like a great match to me. Noah’s not into traveling due to his disastrous time in his brothers’ boy band, while Ren is super excited about exploring the world. I can’t help but wonder if Ren might feel stuck if things keep going this way. Plus, Ren really wants a family and to feel loved, but is Noah emotionally ready to make her feel that way?

The writing style was not captivating to me. Some parts dragged on with overly detailed descriptions of what every single character was doing at every moment. I found myself skimming those sections because I just felt so disconnected from the story. I felt like an outsider observing from a distance.

If you enjoy nice, simple love stories with a forced-proximity plotline and grumpy-sunshine love, give this book a try.

Thank you to Ms. Gray for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

Silver Sky absolutely stole my heart — I loved this one way more than the first book in the series!

This story follows Noah Carter, one of Logan’s brothers from book one, and my gosh… he is the definition of a grump (and I love a good grump). After years of keeping his head down and hiding from the chaos of his old life, Noah’s world gets turned upside down by Ren, a quick-witted, big-hearted waitress who’s definitely not afraid to challenge him. Their dynamic had me hooked from the start.

What I adored most was watching Noah’s journey of self-discovery unfold alongside Ren’s own healing. The emotional weight in this story felt real, but it was beautifully balanced with warmth, slow-burn tension, and moments that made me smile like an idiot. And yes... this one even includes a twist on one of my favourite tropes: only one sleeping bag in the tent 😉

Silver Sky is an emotional, rewarding, and deeply satisfying read about finding love when you least expect it. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the Carter family has in store , this series just keeps getting better.

P.S - this is a closed door romance, no on page spice but plenty of TENSION.

Thank you NetGalley and Harper Collins One More Chapter for the ARC of Silver sky by Taylor Gray

This sequel comes hot off the heels of the digital release of book 1 , Autumn Falls. This is Noah's story and follows him being confronted with ghosts of his past as well as a mischievous new addition to the town, Ren. I won't go too much into their story as it'll spoil the plot but needless to say Noah has to combat his stubbornness and his demons to see what truly matters and Ren goes on a similar journey.

Much like autumn falls, this was a superbly written book with a huge amount of male emotional insight. It was well paced and made me cry more than once. Which is a sign of a well written book. It has the small town charm and really immerses you in the family and the situation throughout.

I cannot wait for the next one and I'm going to make a rare decision to buy physical copies of the series before it's finished as I have that much faith in it!

I truly feel this series is going to be a new big hit!

This story is amazing, I read this in one sitting.
There was so much emotional depth and no spice which made this book amazing because we could see the growth of the main characters really well. Seeing Noah and Ren making their way through their journey was amazing. There was no miscommunication or secrets, no unnecesery drama. It was perfect. Noah's past and feelings were really complicated but he grew so much in this book and had such a great character development and that was enjoyable to read about. Ren's story line with growing up without a family was heartbreaking but through the story we learn how strong she is and her advice is always wise. She made everyone's life happier when she joined the family of Noah but also the community of the town.
This was well written and I would recommend it.

Silver Sky by Taylor Gray is the second installment in the Autumn Falls series. Set against the backdrop of a ranch and small town, this novel follows Noah as he battles the weight of his past and learns to open himself up to the possibility of hope—and love—again.

Ren is a chatty, kind, and refreshing presence who completely catches Noah off guard. After losing the love of his life, he struggles to believe he deserves happiness with someone new. But Ren is someone he just can’t seem to walk away from, no matter how hard he tries. She carries her own secrets too, and together they find understanding and support in one another.

Sometimes, people come into your life at exactly the right moment to remind you of what’s possible.

3.5 stars rounded up. This is book 2 in The Carter Brothers series, an interconnected series that can be read together or as a standalone. I enjoyed this one. Silver Sky follows Noah’s story. We get a little more insight into the brother and band dynamic from Noah’s POV and how those experiences shaped how he is today. We meet Ren, a new waitress in town, who at first glance is the opposite of Noah - immediately they clash and this sets up some great tension going forward. I thought this story had a much better romance to drama balance than book one, the plot was more romance forward and their personal backstories and trauma were crucial to the relationship they were building. Great addition to this series, I look forward to the next story.

I felt like reading a romance, and this was perfect. Well written, third person POV, closed door. It's serious while still being lovely. The characters have character, and they grow and develop and heal through the book. Loved it!
This is the second in a series. Normally I wouldn't read the second book first, but with interlocking romances that often doesn't matter. it works as a standalone, but as soon as I finished this I bought the first one, because I enjoyed this so much. I can't wait for the rest of them to be released, to get to spend time with all the brothers - and hopefully Willow too.

Noah Carter is a grumpy, closed off rancher with a past that weighs heavily on him, while Ren is bright, fearless, and full of sunshine. Their immediate dynamic creates that perfect grumpy x sunshine tension that hooks you from the start. The story dives into real emotions, both characters face their personal scars while learning to trust each other, making their connection feel genuine and heartfelt. The ranch and small town setting are vividly described. The romance develops slowly but with steady tension, letting each interaction between Noah and Ren feel earned. Thank you so much to the author, One More Chapter and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read the book in advance, I received this for free and I'm leaving an honest review.

I loved this! 😍 Noah Carter is back in his small-town life, trying to outrun his music-star past, and Ren’s spunky, fresh energy makes sparks fly. The slow-burn chemistry, starlit ranch scenes, and second-chance romance had me swooning the whole way.

It’s part of the Carter Brothers series, so if you’ve read Autumn Falls, even better. Tropey? Yes. But done so well. Cozy, flirty, and heartwarming — exactly what I needed.

Rating: 4.5/5 ⭐ — swoon-worthy, slow-burn romance perfection.

Silver Sky is the second book in the Autumn Falls series by Taylor Gray and follows Noah and Ren on their journey. This was a very sweet book with both characters overcoming their own internal roadblocks on the way to finding love. I loved the grumpy/sunshine aspect in this and the way the author still managed to make Noah seem sweet and vulnerable all while being a grumpy so & so. Ren was just so unapologetically herself but used this as a way to hide her insecurities. I enjoyed following these two and how they supported each other seemingly on instinct. Low spice so just a beautiful romantic story.

I was excited to start Silver Sky because I fell in love with the Carter Brothers in the previous book in the series and I was so excited to read Noah's story.

(Each book can absolutely be read as a standalone)

I loved this story, Noah & Ren both not whole from a childhood filled with trauma find each other one conversation at a time.

The Cattle Drive was my favourite part of the whole book, the author made it so idyllic.

The banter, the family and friendships had my whole heart and made me yearn for the ranch life at Silver Sky.

I can't wait for the next in the series which is Brodie's story.

Im not usually a fan of closed door romance, but this was a really sweet slow build story, that had enough character dynamics to keep me interested.

Centered around a closed off, slightly grumpy rancher mc and a bottle of pure sunshine fmc, this story takes you on a journey of self discovery for both.

From learning how to live and love again, to realising that belonging doesn't always look so black and white.

Ren & Noah will pull at all of your heart strings.

A great 3.5 star read.

Not spicy, male female, 3rd person dual point of view, contemporary romance. This is the second book in the Carter Brothers series. These are standalone interconnected books so you don't need to read Autumn Falls first (but it's really good so you should read it). I'm a sucker for a grumpy x sunshine, small town romance and this did not disappoint. I loved all of the characters and the leads were fantastic. I enjoyed watching them get to know one another and grow individually while they built their relationship. I'm very much looking forward to the next installment.

The overall plot was okay, but I didn’t feel much chemistry between Noah and Ren, which made it hard to stay engaged. The writing often overdescribed every moment, making parts drag and leaving me feeling disconnected.

Noah is the classic grumpy rancher carrying past losses, and Ren is a hopeful, vulnerable foster kid thrown into his world. Their slow-burn, forced-proximity romance has potential, but their conflicting desires made it hard to fully buy into their connection.

If you enjoy grumpy-sunshine romances, this could still be a fun, simple read.

The second book in The Carter Brothers series is Noah's story, and his meeting with Ren, a newcomer, shows him to be the grumpy rancher he is to her, a sunshine girl looking for somewhere to belong. I enjoyed the cattle drive that brings the couple together and showcases the lovely location. I enjoyed the gentle story of friendship and tentative romantic feelings, the sense of community and the things we learn about Noah and Ren and why they want to escape their pasts.

Book #2 in The Carter Brothers series. In a not-so-distant past, the Carter Bros were one of the hottest boy bands and every girl's dream. The five brothers left behind their lives in the spotlight to live a regular, normal life. The series is five books, one for each brother. This one centers around Noah and is a sigh-worthy romance. The over-arching plot lines are entertaining while the individual story lines make them well worth my reading time, a precious resource. 5 easy stars.

Book 2 of the series was just as good as the first - more of a traditional forced proximity rom-com, but with the same level of character development I was hoping for from the first. I can't wait to see which brother gets his story in book 3.

TW: foster care, death, illness (cancer) - all mentioned
Spice: 0 - closed door

I read and enjoyed Autumn Falls and this us the next story.
This follows Noah from the Carters brothers band and Ren who is searching for something. They don't immediately hit it off but gradually move into friendship and potentially more.
I liked the story and following the loves of these people. It is an easy enjoyable read.
I am sure the next book will be just as enjoyable.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this arc copy. Unfortunately I’ve been unwell and won’t get a chance to read and review this book before it archives.

*Update*

I want to thank the publisher and net galley again for letting me read and review this book. I do feel sad as I really wanted to enjoy this one, I love everything small town and country vibes which this book had.

Unfortunately I feel as though I didn’t gel with the characters very well. I felt as though they fell for each other based on their past trauma sharing and not so much for their connection. I also feel like I didn’t really get a feel for their personalities other than said trauma.

I also wasn’t a fan of the over describing of what every single character was doing in certain parts of the book. I was sort of left feeling detached from the main characters and their story.

I did like how the fmc wasn’t afraid to speak out and support the mmc despite what she was going through. It was sad to learn about her past but glad she got her closure.

Just finished this book and would rate it 2.5⭐️

This was super cute and wholesome, but I thought it lacked depth. There was a whole backstory of the brothers in their band but it didn’t really relevant to the story at the same time? And in the same note, I thought their dad was awful.

I liked how their love story started, but once they got back to town, it felt like it fizzled out, not to mention how quick everything happened.

Thank you NetGalley for the arc!

This was a great second book in the Autumn Falls series, following Noah Carter and Ren, the brave but mysterious girl who catches both his attention, and his slowly reawakening heart.

This was a sweet and emotional read, and perfectly encapsulated those feelings of found family, moving through grief and new beginnings.
