Duchess is a gripping, dark romantic suspense novel about survival, vengeance, and rediscovery of strength. Davianna Barclay is hiding from a brutal past in a sleepy town-until she's violently abducted and dragged back into a world she tried to escape. Trapped in a nightmarish underworld, she must rely on her cunning and grit to survive.
Enter Diesel-a cold, relentless fixer with a dark past and a deeper conscience than he lets on. When he's called in to rescue Davianna, he never expects to find a woman who challenges everything he thought he knew about strength and vulnerability. What starts as a mission of redemption turns into a high-stakes fight for justice-and maybe something more.
As secrets unravel and past wounds surface, Davianna and Diesel are drawn into a storm of desire, revenge, and danger that neither of them is ready for.
Duchess combines the intensity of dark romance with the pace of a crime thriller, perfect for fans of Penelope Douglas, Pepper Winters, and T.M. Frazier.
Raw, gripping, and deeply emotional, this novel explores the cost of survival-and the healing power of connection.
Edge‑of‑your‑seat dark romance that hooked me from page one!
An absolutely amazing read! From the first page, Duchess had me drawn into a dark, addictive world—beautifully twisted and irresistibly intense. The plot twists kept me on the edge of my seat, and the chemistry between the characters hit all the right notes: passionate, complicated, and deeply compelling.
If you love a dark, thrilling romance with heart‑pounding tension and deeply realistic characters, this is one you’ll devour. Highly recommend!!
I really enjoyed this book and was sucked in almost instantly which doesn’t always happen as an avid reader. I loved the characters and the unexpected twists this book had!
“Duchess” is the kind of book that wraps around your heart and doesn’t let go. Kate Ziedman writes with such grace and power the story is rich with emotion, quiet strength, and unforgettable moments. The Duchess is a character I won’t forget anytime soon: poised, layered, and deeply human. Every chapter felt like peeling back history and womanhood at the same time. Beautifully written and emotionally resonant this book is a treasure.
If you’re looking for a strong female lead, lush writing, and a story that actually makes you feel something this is it. “Duchess” gave me chills in the best way. It’s dramatic, classy, and quietly powerful. Kate Ziedman doesn’t just tell a story she builds a world that feels real and raw. I devoured this in one sitting and already want to reread it with a highlighter. 10/10 would recommend.
Duchess is a wild ride filled with intensity, suspense, and emotion. Kate Ziedman’s writing style is smooth, sharp, and deeply immersive. I loved how the story unfolds with such tension and elegance, and the characters felt incredibly real. If you’re into dark romance with strong, layered storytelling, this book will blow you away. Bravo!
Duchess completely wrecked me - in the best possible way. From the very first chapter, I was hooked by Davianna’s strength and resilience. She’s not your typical heroine; she’s broken, fierce, and real. And Diesel? A dark, complex saviour with layers that keep unfolding with every page. Their chemistry is electric - intense but never forced.
The story balances darkness and hope so beautifully. It’s gritty, emotional, and suspenseful, with twists that had my heart racing. The author doesn’t shy away from the ugly parts of survival but somehow manages to make it all feel empowering.
If you love dark romance with real depth - where pain meets healing and danger meets desire - Duchess is a must-read. It’s the kind of book that lingers long after you turn the last page.
Duchess is not an easy read, and it’s not supposed to be. The trigger warning is there for good reason: this story dives deep into trauma, manipulation, and violence. But what made it so powerful for me was how it didn’t glorify any of it. Instead, it’s about enduring, resisting, and reclaiming control. Davianna’s voice is fierce and vulnerable all at once, and Diesel’s complexity brought balance. The emotional payoff? Absolutely worth it.
The first half of the book was entertaining. The pacing was quick, and the characters build relationships, both romantic and platonic at a breakneck speed. The second half of the book had a lot of disturbing SA that made it hard to read. Some explicit moments were awkward and gave me the ick so badly that I almost DNFd it. The pacing slowed down in the later half which made the book feel endless. There were a lot of distracting typos throughout the book.
