predictably good

Literally what the title suggests, but a really cute, short, Christmassy story with the obvious romcom happy ever after! Would like to read more by this author.

I loved the idea of Nikki Moore’s #LoveLondon series and so straight after reading my copy of Skating at Somerset House, I headed to Amazon to order the rest of the books. Skating at Somerset House was a fun-filled short read, with a big festive feel to the story and a smile-inducing little romance. The first short story in the series is about the characters of Noel Summerford and Holly Winterlake, and now the Christmas theme to their names has only just this second dawned on me, I love them even more than I did before. Holly adores the festive season and can’t understand how anybody could not like Christmas. She loves the shopping, the turkey, the cards, the music and everything else and would be more than happy to celebrate Christmas every month. Which is why when she meets Noel at Somerset House, where she works as an Ice Marshall, he is a complete mystery to her. Noel, of course, hates Christmas. He detests it. In fact, he’s been dreaming of a summery escape for the next festive season. A hot, sunny beach with a book in hand would make the ideal Christmas for him. And definitely no ice skating. But Holly is a little drawn to his character and doesn’t look set to give in until she’s convinced him Christmas isn’t all that bad.

I loved the way this book started. The opening chapter where we learn everything Noel hates about Christmas followed by us learning everything Nikki adores about Christmas really set the scene. The contrast in their feelings on the festive season already had me wondering how things would work out when they inevitably met and I was well on the side of Holly and hoping she could win Noel over. I was also intrigued about why he disliked Christmas so much and in time, Nikki pieced this story together beautifully and I really, really enjoyed it. Holly’s enthusiasm and excitement for Christmas was catching and this book is a quick, delightful read to inject some festive spirit into you, especially if you’re not as tough to break down as Noel. Occasionally, I felt like the dialogue between Noel and Holly was a tiny bit forced but mostly, I liked the banter between them and they were screamingly obvious complete opposites but the sparks were there. Both Holly and Noel’s characters had surprising depth to them considering the length of this book but this helped me connect with them easily and I was keeping my fingers crossed for a happy ending. I also loved the character of Jasper who was a chatty, excitable boy and the only reason Noel would ever step foot in Somerset House. Jasper was an energetic little character who tired me out every time he started speaking but he played his part in bringing Holly and Noel that little bit closer together…

Nikki’s building of the setting and festivities was so beautiful to read. The skating rink was brought to life with all the little details like the skating outfits and I giggled away at Noel’s skating attempts though perhaps a bit unfairly since I would have been no better! Skating at Somerset House felt complete which is something you don’t often get with short stories, though that’s not to say I haven’t missed Noel and Holly a little bit since I finished. Despite Noel’s grumpiness, it was an uplifting story – ideal for those who love Christmas but also those who aren’t so keen. The festivities are at a high but there’s also a heart-warming story perfect to be read at any time during the year. I loved Nikki’s style of writing and building of a romance and I’m excited to read more from her in the future.

"Skating at Somerset House" is the first story in the Love London series and my first book by Nikki Moore, and reading it just made me want to read much more from this author. Although I'm not a big of this title, I don't know, it sounds so school-ish, like from a textbook, so formal, the story itself was cute, nice and with a feel - good factor.

Holly and Noel (can there be more Christmassy names???) couldn't be more different. Holly loves Christmas and winter, Noel hates it and loves summer and sun. Well, Noel's aversion to this season has its reasons. Holly is optimistic, always sees the sunny side to the situations, whereas Noel is more the scroogish type and his glass is always half empty. Those two meet by chance on the ice rink, where Holly is an ice - marshal and Noel takes there his godson Jasper for skating. Jasper learns skating really quickly, Noel doesn't. Skating is in fact his worst nightmare, while Holly can't think of anything more exciting - well, till the knee injury she used to be a very good figure skater.

So, do the opposites really attract? Because really, those two couldn't be more different, even if the author would like it. They don't hit it off immediately, oh no, but through series of coincidences and accidents they come closer, and Noel even gets to know Holly's family at the Christmas - do at her home.

As they both had emotional baggage, both had their past, they are cautious in opening to each other, and I really enjoyed how they opened and blossomed in this short story, how lively did the author managed to create the characters and made them 3 - dimensional and memorable. Especially Jasper, this hyper - active little boy with mouth never closing and Holly's labrador, who was a lovely and funny dog. Of course our two main characters were a real joy to read and well, even in this short story the author was able to gave them personality and past, and I really fell for them and understood why Noel is so grumpy about Christmas, and kept my fingers crossed for them both, for Noel to come out of his shell and for Holly to kick off with her idea of business. It was also wonderful how Nikki Moore packed this little book full with action. Some of the situations had a real laugh out loud factor, especially the party at Holly's parents, and imagining Noel on ice as well.

Except of being set on the ice, this story is so warm and uplifting! The writing is so light and makes the story easy to follow. The plot is fresh and I totally enjoyed it, it kept me entertained and I had a smile on my lips all the time. And even though it is a short story, I haven't had a feeling of incompletion, of missing something. Altogether, it was a great wintery read, perfect for one, short evening.

The second book in the series, "New Year at the Ritz", is out on 18th December and I will be for sure checking this one too.

Many thanks to Harper Collins and Netgalley for providing an ecopy of this book in exchange for an honest review which I'm more than happy to give.

Firstly, I couldn't start without saying what a gorgeous cover - it's what grabbed me from the start - blue being my favourite colour and the fact I had a December trip to London planned - a perfect opportunity to check out the setting before reading the book.

There are two main characters Noel Summerford who is anti Christmas and loves summer and Holly Winterlake, she loves Christmas and hates summer. The irony of their names was totally wasted on me until I come to write my review - wow Nikki, I'm sorry.

It really is incredible when an author decided to write a series of novellas and has to get your attention in book one, creating characters with depth and mysteries, that will keep you hooked to the end. Nikki has done this with spots on - I was hooked from the first page.

This was a truly, scrumptious read set at Somerset House where the Skating rink sits every year next to the Fortnum and Mason tree - an absolutely perfect setting. Holly is an ex-professional skater, working at the rink and befriends Jasper, Noel's godson.

When Noel and Holly meet there is a definite fizz in the air, although both do their best to appear unfazed by each other, each claiming to be too busy for love and relationships. The banter was hilarious and I'm sure every other reader like me was waiting for the cracks to appear in their outward armour.

I loved Nikki's descriptions of the rink and the skaters - they were so accurate, people either over dressed like Noel, so stiff they can't move, or so clearly on an impulse visit, totally underdressed and cold! Whilst I was at Somerset House I watched so many people like Noel, clinging to the edge of the rink, doing the scissor action with their legs going in opposite directions whilst flailing their arms like windmills as they headed for the ice.

It's such a feel good book, I was so behind Holly, rooting for her to thaw the ice in Noel's heart and get him to see Christmas through her eyes, what he must have thought when he rescued Holly and had to take her home to her family - he was met with an explosion of colour, family and laughter, everything he disliked about christmas (or so he says!) I laughed so hard at the entertainment her family dragged him into - ouch, is all I'll say - I've been there LOL.

I literally cannot wait to read the second part in this #LoveLondon series - New Year at The Ritz

This was a sweet, flirty read that was easy to read and engage with. Although I thought it was a little slow to start with, I enjoyed how the characters met and warmed up to each other. I loved the setting and thought it was the perfect place for a short festive romance. There was also a surprising amount of information about the characters. They had a clear personality and I liked how they interacted with each other.

I did think this series of short stories would follow Noel and Holly over the course of the books, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen ... If that's the case, I would loved for it to have been longer as I really enjoyed the characters and thought it set things up beautifully for more. If it isn't there'll be a nice surprise. Either way, I looked forward to the next installment.

Holly and Noel meet whilst she is an ice marshall at Somerset House and he takes his godson skating. She used to be an international skater and she sees potential in Jasper and offers to give him a lesson during her break. He returns the next day after seeking permission from the boy's dad. Holly and Noel couldn't be more different- Holly loves everything about Christmas but Noel hates everything about the season.

Holly thinks he is attractive- but he seems quite abrupt. Can they overcome their differences and form a relationship?

When she hurts herself, he takes her home and finds himself in the middle of a HUGE family drinking competition. Even the dog joins in with a glass of Coke!

A lovely story with great characters- first in a series and I am keen to read more.

Many thanks to the publisher and Net Galley for the chance to read this one

Loved it! A perfect bite-sized Christmas treat that you can read in one sitting or savour, as you prefer. At its core an opposites attract story - Grinch-like Noel and holiday-loving Holly - meet and banter and clash whilst "skating at Somerset House" - itself an evocative third character. I'm loving where this series is going highlighting amazing places in the best city in the world, London!

The perfect amount of steam, suggestive but nothing that overtakes the story, with a sweet attraction rather than lust at its heart. Feel-good and festive, really recommended this time of year; can't wait for the rest of the series.

This was an adorable story. I loved it, my on,y problem is was it was just too short. I felt like there could have been a great novel with Noel and Holly instead of just this short novella. I enjoyed the setting of a wintry London skating rink, great read, just could have been much more.

The story takes place mostly on the ice-rink at Somerset House in London where Noel has reluctantly taken his god-son Jaspar. Noel hates everything to do with Christmas and with good reason perhaps. Ice marshall Holly is completely the opposite. Everything Noel hates about Christmas is what Holly loves.

It was easy for me to picture the setting of the ice rink in the square with its huge Christmas tree. As a health and safety officer, Noel is very aware of potential dangers everywhere and that includes entrusting his heart. Holly is also wary of falling in love but is more likely to be spontaneous. I loved this story of opposites attracting. Despite their differences and their reasons for not wanting to get involved with anyone, there was no denying the attraction between them.

Full of Christmas cheer, this is a perfect romantic short story to cosy up with if you can find a quiet few moments before Christmas. There’s plenty to make you smile, quite a few funny moments especially when Noel meets Holly’s parents, and an ending to melt your heart. Now, I’m off to check out the next in the series, New Year at the Ritz.

Skating at Somerset House - Nikki Moore

There’s nothing Holly Winterlake loves more than Christmas and skating, so working as an Ice Marshall at London's Somerset House is a dream come true.

Noel Summerford hates the festive season and is a disaster on the ice, so taking his godson to Somerset House is his idea of the nightmare before Christmas!

For such a short book there is a huge festive feel to this book, it is such a fun-filled romance. I liked how in the first chapter, Nikki introduces the reader to Noel and explains how Christmas is the worst time of the year for him; immediately followed by introducing us to Holly who is the polar opposite.

Even with the short length of the book, Nikki has managed to thoroughly introduce the characters and the setting beautifully. One of the things I really enjoyed about this book is that even the characters names are festive. I would highly recommend this short novella to any fan of a Christmas romance.

Skating at Somerset House is the kind of story that makes you want to grab a hot chocolate, curl up by the fireplace, and lose yourself in the magic of Christmas. Nikki Moore delivers a charming, fun, and flirty short read that perfectly blends romance, humor, and festive chaos.

Holly is instantly lovable, passionate about Christmas and skating, and watching her collide (literally and figuratively!) with Noel, the self-proclaimed Grinch who hates the season, was such a joy. Add a forty-foot Christmas tree, a crazy chocolate Labrador, and a handful of well-meaning friends and relatives, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for cozy holiday magic.

Nikki’s writing sparkles like fairy lights, and she pulls you straight into the festive atmosphere of Somerset House. If you’re looking for a quick, heartwarming escape that’ll make you smile from start to finish, this is it.

Can’t wait to dive into the rest of the Love London series!

Fun

A fun little holiday romance book. Based around Christmas, one of the characters - Holly, loves Christmas while the other - Noel, hates Christmas.
Holly loves everything about Christmas and her current job is absolutely perfect for her, an ice marshall at Somerset Hall. Here she bumps into Noel on the ice, trying to keep his godson happy. They get talking and both of them feel the attraction, but how can two people so different get on so well?
A fantastic little novella, filled with the magic of Christmas time.

This was a really sweet festive romance read that you really can escape into and enjoy the stories of the characters!

Holly loves Christmas, Noel hates it - so when they meet at the ice rink where he's taking his godson Jasper for some skating time, you know you're in for a treat as their opposing attitudes towards the festive period collide!!

it was such an easy and quick read that I enjoyed the situations they found themselves in so I look forward to reading more of the Love London series as this was my first!

Not really my thing

I am probably an unromantic grinch but I found this very saccharine sweet. I also can't get on with how Christmas is often overly sentamentalised. The information about Somertset House was interesting and I'm sure the skating is a delight. Holly's family made me cringe, sorry! I noted the 4 year old nephew had his front teeth missing...more likely in a 7 year old I would expect.

This short story is about Noel who hates Christmas and Holly who doesn’t. They meet when Noel takes his godson ice skating and meets her there in her capacity as a marshall at Somerset House. They get on well although both have their axes to grind, him about the season and her about the injury which curtailed her skating career. But the magic of Christmas soon works its thing on them both. Well written although I wish it’d been a little bit longer. I’d certainly read more from this author though.

In Skating at Somerset House we meet Christmas loving ice-skater, Holly Winterlake, and Anti-Christmas, hide-in-a-man cave-throughout-December, Noel Summerford. The two couldn’t be more different. Holly is a sunny, positive person who looks on the bright side, whereas Noel is a worrier, downcast and a total Scrooge-alike. When Noel takes his godson, Jasper, ice-skating to the ice rink at Somerset House, he gets way more than he bargained for when Jasper takes a shine to Ice Marshal, Holly. (He also discovers he can’t skate for toffee, but we’ll gloss over that…) Holly certainly knows what she’s doing in the skating department as she used to be a professional figure skater until an injury to her knee put an end to her plans. She’s very impressed with Jasper’s skating skills (not so much with Noels…) and it’s not long before the pair are introduced and gradually getting to know one another. They might say that opposites attract and all that; but nothing is likely to happen between Holly and Noel. Both have been burnt by events in their past and are certainly NOT on the lookout for a romance to complicate things. Also, these two are off-the-spectrum-opposites. There’s no way that Christmas-hating Noel and Christmas-loving Holly could ever have anything in common. Is there?

For some inexplicable reason this is the first novel by Nikki Moore that I’ve read. I have been hearing such good things about Skating at Somerset House and was attracted by the cover right from the off. It’s beautiful, festive and gorgeous; just like the story. Skating at Somerset House is only a short story as it’s the first in Nikki’s #LoveLondon series but Nikki achieves something which I always imagine to be very difficult with writing novellas…she manages to fully form her characters and bring them completely to life. In the space of this 40 page novel you will easily warm to Noel and Holly, find out a little about their backgrounds, grow to love them and also desperately want them to be together (which you strongly suspect they will be, but you never quite know. They are so different after all!) Nikki also really brought the beautiful setting alive for me with her writing. The Fortnum and Mason Christmas tree, the magic in the air, the stifling, restrictive attire that people opt for when they go ice-skating…It was all in there. As Christmassy-themed settings go you can’t get much more festive than this, it was perfect. I adored Holly (and not just because of her fabulous name, either!) I love Christmas too and can completely relate to how excited she was getting at the prospect of the festive season. Her family (including her Labrador) were funny, friendly and fantastic too. I also liked Noel (even is he isn’t a fan of Christmas…no one’s perfect, eh?) He had good reason to feel the way he did about the festive season and I just wanted to pick him up and give him a big old hug. I was rooting for Holly to help bring him out of his Scrooge-like shell all along. I am incredibly excited about reading the next story in the series, New Year at the Ritz (download here) If it follows in the footsteps of Skating at Somerset House then I love it already and Im really excited to now read more of Nikki Moore’s novels. Just like a jumbo tin of Quality Street, this novel is bright, shiny and super, super sweet. It doesn’t matter that Christmas has now passed because Skating at Somerset House will warm you up and make your January that little bit more colourful…

I read this book on my plane ride back to school in California for the new semester and I absolutely adored it. If you are looking for a quick read (it is perfect for a plane ride since you can read it on the flight and don't have to worry about finding time to finish it after the flight) then I highly recommend this Skating at Somerset House. It is the perfect mix of romance and Christmas and humor all rolled up into a 40 page story. The story takes place in London the day before Christmas Eve and Christmas Eve. I'm planning on studying abroad in the fall and reading about London (especially at Christmas which is my favorite time of year) and how Moore brings the Somerset House to life in the book makes me wish I was there right now. After finishing the story I of course has to look up the Somerset House and I am putting it on the list of places I must visit when I travel around Europe. Look how gorgeous it is! How could you not want to go skating there?

The main focus of the story is on Noel and Holly and the relationship between the two. They meet for the first time on the skating rink at Somerset House on the day before Christmas eve. Noel and Holly seem like an unlikely pair at first considering Noel hates Christmas (which I am not sure how someone can hate Christmas, but you do you Noel) and Holly absolutely loves it. Both of these two main characters though are dealing with different kinds of loss they have had in their life, which is something that acts as the foundation of their relationship. I found that this common bond they have of dealing with loss lets you as a reader connect with the characters really well. It also makes these characters come alive instead of being 2-dimensional characters at an ice skating rink.

With it being such a short story I worried about the book having underdeveloped characters, but Moore did an amazing job at creating these characters that you can connect with and root for and ship like nothing other. I also liked that since it was a short story the story wasn't bogged down by back story of the characters and there weren't too many characters to remember. You were given just enough to make it an enjoyable read. While I do enjoy back story, I sometimes get bored by it and would rather hear more about the characters at the present. Moore does a good job of giving you a little bit of back story in order to understand why the characters act the way they do, but it isn't at all in depth. As characters go, besides Holly and Noel (who I am huge fans of) my favorite minor character would have to be the chocolate Labrador Pudding. You don't get to meet him until the end of the story, but once you do I'm sure you'll be a big fan of Pudding too. There are about five other characters who I would consider minor characters, and I found that the overall cast of 8 characters was just the right amount.

My review:

Skating at Somerset House is a great pre-Christmas read full of fun, flirtation and festiveness. It is the first of a number of short stories being released as the #LoveLondon series and if this one is anything to go by they are going to be really enjoyable.

We meet Holly and Noel (even their names are festive), when Noel takes his Godson Jasper skating at Somerset House. Holly is there working as an ice assistant. Noel, unlike Jasper cannot skate to save his life, and this is his idea of hell. However Jasper has a flair for it. Holly spots this and gets chatting to Jasper, offering him some help to improve. Holly used to skate properly before injury put paid to that dream so she is more than happy to help Jasper.

Holly and Noel seem so different. Noel seems standoffish and rude, whereas Holly seems kind and caring. Noel hates Christmas whereas Holly and her family enjoy celebrating. However, from the first meeting there seems to be something bubbling beneath the surface for them both and as they story goes on their relationship changes and we get to know more about why Noel is so unhappy, and what has happened to Holly's dreams.

For a short story this novella packed alot in. I felt I was able to become absorbed by the characters and if anything I would like to see them again to see what happens after the story ends.

The characters are written with warmth and Holly is particularly nice. I felt like she was quite vulnerable and innocent and hated seeing Noel being rude or dismissive to her. I think I was meant to dislike Noel at the start so that as his story unfolded I could realise not to always judge a book by its cover.

I really enjoyed this and read it in one go. It's a shame that we don't get to see what happens next, but I am looking forward to getting my hands on New Year at the Ritz which is released on 18 December and is second in the #LoveLondon series.

I kindly received Skating at Somerset in exchange of an honest review by the publisher via NetGalley.

The first short story in the fun & flirty #LoveLondon series from exciting new chick lit author Nikki Moore! There will be published 6 short stories in total. The next installment in the series is called New Year at the Ritz and will be published on 22nd December 2014. Pre-order your copy here.

Noel Summerford hates Christmas. It drives him nuts every year. It's all festive rubbish and an expensive exercise in commercialism to him. Noel could't think of any worse than ice skating at Somerset House. It's London's most favourite outdoor ice rink. Anyway he promised his godson Jasper to take him skating at Somerset House. This is the place where they meet Holly.

Holly Winterlake loves Christmas. This December she couldn't think of anything better than ice skating for a living. It was a dream come true for her to be an Ice Marshall at the Somerset House. Holly is watching Jasper and discovers that he is a natural talent. She gets chatting to Jasper, offering to learn him some tricks. Holly used to skate professionally until a injury ruined her dream.

Can they be more different? Noel the "Grinch" kind of guy and Holly the heart warming sunshine. Do opposites really attrack? It seems so. Holly makes sure Noel changes his ways. Maybe Christmas is not so bad after all ...

I enjoyed this short story very much. Looking back of all the christmassy tales I've read this year so far, it's been one of my favourites. It was the first story I read by Nikki Moore. I was familiar with her because her name and books appeared on my Twitter news feed from time to time. I am happy I had the chance to discover her writing now. I instantly liked the involving characters. I loved how well developed the characters were for a short story. Moore writes with a wit and charm that makes it exceedingly easy to fall in love with her work and which makes her #LoveLondon Series the perfect choice if you’re searching for a quick pick-me-up or a light-hearted short story. Eminently quotable and a whole lot of fun, Skating at Somerset House is a refreshing and lively love story in which opposites attract and the road to a happily-ever-after is anything but smooth.

I am very looking forward to the next installments in the #LoveLondon Series.

Skating at Somerset House is the first short story in the new #LoveLondon series by author Nikki Moore. I have been really excited about this series, because I love Nikki’s writing style, the blurb sounded great and all the covers of this series are just so gorgeous.

The two main characters couldn’t be more different. Holly Winterlake loves Christmas and skating. As a former figure skating pro she works at Somerset House and she just adores everything connected to this wonderful and festive time of the year. She’d prefer to have Christmas every month, instead of this dreadful heat in summer.

Noel Summerford ist he total opposite. He hates Christmas and skating, oh well let’s just say he doesn’t make a good figure on skates. He prefers summer tot he cold.

I love how Nikki played around with their names and gave them a special meaning. Holly and Noel are such a jo to read about. Holly with her passion for Christmas and the way she talkst o little Jasper, Noel’s godson is so sweet. Noel comes across grumpy and moody, but that changes throught this story and he turns out tob e this wonderful man. I have to say I fell in love with him a little bit. I could literally see the sparks flying between them, they had something from the beginning. They way they made each other feel, there was always a warmth and spark between them. I enjoyed reading about how their relationship developed. Especially towards the end, where Holly is reminded of her past and they both end up at her place. The last scenes were perfectly romantic, touching and very emotional, I loved that.

We learn a lot about their past, why they are they way they are and that made me understand both characters really well. Nikki has them perfectly lined out and describes everything with such detail. I fell in love with her writing all over again. There ist he right amount of flirtyness and fun in it and I was totally absorbed with the story and the characters, this really shows: Reading is dreaming woth open eyes.

Jasper added an extra something to this story, I love him. This short story ist he perfect festive and feel-good read, it gets you into the christmassy atmosphere right away. It has put a huge smile on my face and I can’t wait for the story to continue, this is going to be a fabulous series, I can feel it!

Holly Winterlake loves Christmas and skating while Noelle Summerford wants to be as far away as possible when it is the Christmas season and could not be more disastrous on ice than he already is!

Forced to take his Godson skating, Noelle crosses path with Holly and amidst the Christmas cheer and some skating disasters starts their love story!

Skating at Somerset House is a delightful short story that brings back the happy holiday season with lots of eggnog, cheer and laughter. Set in the English country,it was a very entertaining read which held me captive until the very end. I could feel the thrill of skating on real ice, feeling the cold but still assured of a hot cup of coffee not being far away, the joy of watching people enjoying the festive season with their family and friends and the hope of finding your true love during the lovely Christmas holidays!

The cover is colorful and I was intrigued by the blurb. Both these create a good first impression, making you want to pick the book up to read!

This is the first book by Nikki Moore that I have read and I loved her simple, engaging and lively writing style. Without ever having visited London, she brought London alive through her story and made me feel like I was experiencing everything myself. I felt eager to join in the celebrations, pick up my warmest jacket and skates and go skate at the Somerset House. The history of the place also enchanted me and made me want to visit it someday.

The characterization is expertly done and I connected with the Holly, Noelle and little Jasper. Jasper is just so cute. The relationship between Holly and Noelle develops beautifully and I could feel the love in the air with lots of humour thrown in.

All in all, Skating at Somerset House is a story that has romance, holiday cheer and humour all rolled together in 40 odd pages and is an entertaining short read that can be read anytime and anywhere. 4 out of 5 to it and recommended to everyone.

I received the book from NetGalley and the publishers and I am very thankful to them. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.

This was a fun and sweet novella. It makes me think of a modern day "The Night Before Christmas" story, minus the Ba Ham-buging.

Holly Winterlake is having the most wonderful day on the most wonderful time of the year. Holly loves Christmas and every thing that goes with it.

The best part (for her anyway) is getting to skate on ice again. So getting the job as Ice Marshall at London's Somerset House is a dream come true.

Noel Summerford gets grumpy around the Christmas Holidays. Falling on his butt multiple times in the freezing snow does not help his mood.

Having promised to bring his Godson to skate on the, was not exactly his idea of fun. But seeing the ecstatic look on his Godson's face was well worth the torture.

Things take an interesting turn when he is approached by the sexy Ice Marshall who is interested in giving his Godson some extra skating lessons, since he seems to be a natural on the ice.

Not wanting to disappoint the kid, but also having to keep a promise to his Godson's father, Noel has to decline the offer. But that does not stop him from wanting to know more about Holly.

Things seem to go up and down with them but when an accident on the ice, booze and a mad chocolate Labrador get involved, things get enthralling. Find out the exciting conclusion to Skating at Somerset House.

Nikki Moore wrote a cute novella that had me going awwwwww. Noel and Holly were meant for each other and that is just judging by their names alone, there both Christmas themed. I don't have much to say because the book was too short for my liking, but good things, very good things happened in this book.

I always love books that involve kids, they just bring an innocence to books, which I love. Kids and animals always do that, and this book had both, even if the animal came in at the end of the book. Noel was all Scrudge McDuck and Holly was close to being Sponge Bobb (don't know much people who are happy all the time).

I know this book is late or early, if you think about it, but you cannot go wrong with it.

HAPPY READING!
