History of my family, very informative. Interesting information! So it turns out a family member of mine was an early settler in New Orleans! He & his wife had no children, and he returned to Canada after she died. Imagine if they had had children. Then I likely would have had distant Provencher relatives among the Cajun population of Louisiana to this day. But sadly it was not to be.

Later in the book the narrative turned towards the French & Indian War. Although fascinating, it's like watching a train wreck in slow-motion. The book ends before the war turns badly for my ancestors, but I know from history what's gonna happen. A very ominous feeling. I'm anxious to know how my family dealt with the British invasion and conquest of Canada, how they handled the new administration after the war was over. I guess I'll have to get the next book in the series to find out.
