Lie Down: Christian Romance

Rate this book
“I don’t think we are going to be able to keep our relationship quiet much longer.”

Grace Bennett doesn’t believe in second chances, especially not for herself. A successful interior designer in Chicago, she’s built her life around sleek spaces and emotional distance. But when her grandmother passes away, Grace returns to Petoskey, Michigan, to settle the estate and restore Whispering Pines, the once-charming Victorian bed and breakfast tucked near the shores of Little Traverse Bay. Her plan is renovate, sell, and return to the predictable city life she understands. What she doesn’t expect is for memories, or old feelings to stir the moment she steps onto the creaking porch of her childhood summers.

Luke Carson has made a quiet life for himself in Petoskey, balancing carpentry and part-time pastoring with a heart for helping others rebuild. When Grace hires him to restore Whispering Pines, he’s surprised to find the polished city designer is the same girl who once sketched dreams beneath the lilac trees. As layers of the past are peeled away, wallpaper and otherwise, buried hopes reemerge, and so does a connection neither expected. But when Grace is offered her dream job back in Chicago, they must both decide what restoration really means… and whether love is worth the mess of rebuilding.

Set in the peaceful, storybook town of Petoskey, Michigan where cobblestone streets, harborfront trails, and vintage gaslights frame every love story. This series invites you into a community shaped by healing, divine encounters, and the quiet work of grace. At the heart of it all, bed and breakfasts like Whispering Pines serve as havens for those seeking rest, renewal, and new beginnings.

This series is based on Psalm 23:2-3 (NIV) “He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.” "Lie Down" is the first book in this six-book series. Download this clean romance book to make you feel good about yourself and your world.

This is a beautiful second chance romance between Grace and Luke in a small Michigan town. I liked the story and the characters are wonderful. Grace came back to the town where her Grandmother owned a bed and breakfast Inn and where Grace visited until she was twelve years old. One of the girls she was friends with drowned and Grace couldn't return after that tragedy but she kept in touch with weekly phone calls to her Grandmother until she died twenty years later. Grace lived in Chicago and was a successful Inferior Decorator as part of her parents business. She returned to the small town where her Grandmother lived to renovate her Bed and Breakfast Inn to ready it to sell. Another childhood friend, Luke, still lived in that town and they had crushes on each other when they were younger. Seeing him still living in that town brought back feelings that would change the way her future would play out. I highly recommend this clean romance. This is my voluntary and honest review.

Two friends from childhood, Luke and Grace. Grace never went back after Lacey passed away. Grace never could come to terms with Lacey drowning. Mary, Grace‘s grandmother, has passed away and left her the B&B. The B&B needed some work. One of the first people that Grace saw was Luke. Lots of feelings came up along with some tension. Grace parents were very dominating and wanted Grace to do what they wanted her to do. Her parents were very wealthy and loved to socialize. They wanted Grace to socialize with them and hobnob with rich. This is a very good romance, clean and nothing ugly. It’s a Faith based book. I highly recommend it.

I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review. When a person sees what he or she does as a calling instead of a livelihood, that is when the person knows their God-given purpose. Very well done!!!

Short story.

Short and sweet, the storyline was interesting. I think I would have enjoyed a little more spunk from Grace, especially with her parents and Luke's mom.
