Binding Elements: Discoveries

Rate this book
The Black Diamond Desert held the secrets to the Elements; a long lived race of families that had control of fire, ice, wind or lightning. When disaster strikes, everything changes for the only two survivors.

She thought it was over…
Five hundred years ago, Aurora lost everything…including Lucas, the love of her life, when he refused to let go of the past. After centuries of clashes with him, the peace she’s found in the small town of Summer Gate is shattered when Lucas finds her again. Now, she’ll need her control of fire to protect not just herself but also her best friend.

He’s going to show her it’s only just begun…
Lucas walked away from Aurora when she gave up on their quest for justice. Realizing he gave up the most important thing in his life, he went in search of her. Now, almost two centuries after their last fight, he’s tracked her down. With Aurora furious and fighting hard, Lucas will need every ounce of his ice powers to get what he’s after.

It’s here…
The battle brewing for five centuries is here. Before it’s over someone will be ruthlessly attacked, another gravely injured and more than one person will disappear. Enemies Aurora didn’t know existed will emerge from the shadows. It will take all of her Elemental training, and powers she’s kept hidden, to make it through alive.

Favorite Lines “You don’t know it but something wonderful has happened today; a miracle. Your future, and ours, is secure now.”

“I hate you,” he whispered. “And love you so desperately I’ll never be able to hold on to it.”

“You aren’t the only one with something to lose.”

“And the greatest of these is love...”

“We all finish healing,” Lucas said, nodding at Kyle to include him. He bent down and kissed Aurora. “And then we go hunting.”

More please!
I just love when I get my hands on a authors first release and it's phenomenal! I've read every kind of fantasy and paranormal story and there was none quite like this!! It has everything I love in a book plus so much more!
Aurora and Lucas are different from everyone else. They each control a power, Aurora controls fire and Lucas controls ice.
After a truly heartbreaking event things change between them both. They separate for over 200 years but, come back together to fight a common enemy.
This author did an amazing job! I can't wait to see what comes next in this series! I have no doubt it will be amazing!

Lucas and Aurora are the only survivors after their people are brutally attacked. Both retain powers of the elements - Lucas the ice and Aurora the fire. Their love for each other is tested when Lucas leaves Aurora to chase down the perpetrators. Hundreds of years pass and Aurora loses several friends to attacks she believes are instigated by Lucas. When he shows up and threatens her best friend Kyle, she vows to stop him.

If this book had any more action, I probably would have had a heart attack! It was full of surprises and kept me guessing and reading late into the night. I'm glad I found this talented new author and look forward to the rest of the series.

This story had plenty of twists and turns. The author did an excellent job at making me think one thing and then showing it was completely something else just because some names and details hadn’t been mentioned. I loved the connection Aurora and Lucas had in the very beginning, so I entirely felt wretched when they started clashing as mortal enemies since it just crushed seeing how much they cared for each other to have that tossed to the wind and Lucas obsessed with inflicting pain on her. I don’t want to say too much because it would totally give away reveals and tension. I will say there is plenty of action, plenty of magic, violence, originality, intrigue, tension, suspense, mystery, and, yes, romance.

The one thing I would change is the cover. It’s beautiful, engaging, and the characters are gorgeously rendered bringing to life their respective powers, but when I saw it, I expected the characters and the book to be YA since they both look in their mid to late teens (and they’re not. From what I can gather, they look in their early 30s, not to mention that the bulk of the story is set after they’ve both been alive for several centuries). It’s not a bad thing that it’s not YA, since that means no childish high school drama. It’s just a bit misleading on a marketing standpoint.

Definitely a story for the grown up fans of Harry Potter.

Action; lost love, reunited; mystery; drama. What more could you ask for? Excellent read, kept me enthralled until the end...and then I bought the next one!
