Daddy's Muse: A Dark MM Ageplay Romance

Rate this book
Colby Willis is used to being invisible, except when cruel laughter follows him through the halls of his college dorm, when bruises bloom beneath his sleeves, when loneliness sharpens into something unbearable. Anxious, broke, and barely surviving his first semester, Colby is one failed exam away from losing everything.

Bodin Dahlström wasn’t supposed to notice the trembling boy on the steps. He was there to kill someone else. But something about Colby—his shyness, his softness, his silence, the way his eyes hold too much sadness—roots Bodin in place. Fascinates him. Consumes him.

Colby requires a gentle touch and kind words–something that Bodin’s never been good at. He knows that if Colby finds out who he is–what he does–he’ll lose him. But Bodin deeply desires to show his fragile lille prinsen the beauty he inspires.

As Colby grows closer to the beautiful Norwegian man he keeps running into, he becomes the target of a terrifying stalker. A necklace of teeth on his pillow, a crow’s heart tucked into his coat pocket, symbols carved in chalk beneath his bed. Bodin becomes his safe place, offering Colby boundless affection and care like he’s never received before.

And when he asks Colby to call him Pappa, to belong to him in every way, Colby doesn’t hesitate.

Daddy’s Muse is part of the multi-author collaboration Bloody Desires. This is a dark MM ageplay romance between a sweet, needy boy and the serial killer obsessed with him. Please read the content warnings located at the start of the book before reading.

Hi!

I’m a new author in the MM romance space. I primarily write dark romance, but like wholesome dark romance? You won’t find any verbal abuse or bullying in my books. I understand some people like that, but some people (me) prefer our morally grey men to dote on us.

My education background is in Criminology and Psychology, but I’ve always had a love for literature. I grew up writing short stories and poetry. As I got older, my creativity seemed to fade away and I became stuck in a monotonous routine. In December 2024, I suddenly decided to write Under Your Care. It felt like I had finally found what I was supposed to be doing with my life. I am so excited to share even more romantic, depraved, and kinky stories with everyone!!

Thank you,
E. (Elizabeth) Baileu

⭐️ 4/5 — Imagine a serial killer Daddy who kills for love and tucks you in after. ❤️‍🔥💀
🌶 2/5 — Limited rounds, but every one’s a headshot. 🔥💦

💭 My Rambling 💭

I have NEVER stumbled upon a dark age-play MM romance before, so this was like finding a unicorn who hugs you, gives you a coloring book, and then casually commits murder in the background. 🦄🖍🔪🩸💀

Seriously—Daddy kink + age play + dark romance?? That’s one hell of a recipe for emotional whiplash, and MY DRAMATIC ASS ATE IT UP LIKE POPCORN. 🍿🤭 It’s soft, twisted, cuddly, and creepy all at once. I don’t even know whether I wanted to coo or call the cops. 🥹🚓🤣

📣 Special shoutout to my babe 💖 Brooke 💖 for putting this wonderful wild ride on my radar! Thank youuu so much, my beautiful angel! 😘💞

🐰💔 The Softest Kind of Broken 💔🐰

Quote (Colby):
I was nothing more than the forgotten child of heroin addicts. I spent the first part of my life moving from one trap house to another, trying my best to stay small, stay unnoticed, and stay alive.
He didn’t know me. He didn’t know how badly I craved soft things, how I sometimes cried myself to sleep and imagined it was someone’s chest I was curled against instead of a second-hand pillow.
He didn’t know how small I felt most days, and how much I wanted to be wanted.
Maybe that was the worst part—
The wanting.

💭 Colby, my sweet baby boy 😭 this passage gutted me in thirty different ways. 💔 Like please, why did I sign up for this level of emotional damage?? 😫 The way he talks about wanting softness when life only ever gave him sharp edges…😢 I just wanted to reach through the pages, wrap him in a blanket, and hand him every damn plushie ever made. 😭🧸💞

This right here? This is why Bodin went full “OBSESSIVE PROTECTION” mode—like, seriously, how could anyone see him and not want to wrap him up and never let go?! 😭🫠

🧸🔪 Caretaker Daddy, but Make It Murder 🔪🧸

Quote (Bodin):
I was meant to end his suffering. Colby had gotten into college on his own merit. He worked himself raw. He said ‘thank you’ even when people were cruel, and ‘I’m sorry’ when they didn’t deserve it. That boy needed someone willing to bleed for him.

💭 HELLO??? Who gave this man the right to be both TERRIFYING AND SWOONY AT THE SAME DAMN TIME?! 🤨 Like, this dude is out here being a cold-blooded killer and tucking his boy in with a plushie and a bedtime story. The duality?? UNHINGED. One moment I’m horrified, the next I’m soft-smiling like a fool. 😱☺️

The way he talks about Colby—equal parts devotion, danger, and delusion—had me side-eyeing my e-reader like, “THIS IS NOT HEALTHY BUT WHY IS IT KINDA HOT??” 😩🖤❤️‍🔥

💙🥰 Two Sides of Daddy ☠️🖤

Quote (Bodin):
“We’ll make a home together. You won’t have to hide. No more fear, no more running. Just day after day of me taking care of you the way you deserve. I’ll give you nice, hot baths, feed you your meals. We’ll get you lots of toys to play with. You won’t have to worry about anything at all.”

💭 See? This man’s got the nurturing Daddy energy down to a damn science. 👏🏻👏🏻 He's basically Daddy of the Year in the Comfort Kink Olympics—just missing his gold medal and a bedtime story trophy. 🏆🧸💞

Quote (Bodin):
But then, darker thoughts crept in. What if I never let anyone else see him? What if I wrapped him up so tightly he belonged to me alone, forever?
The idea thrilled me and terrified me in equal measure.

💭 And there it is—the flip side of the coin. That mine-mine-mine energy that makes your pulse spike and your morals question themselves. It’s giving “Protective Daddy meets possessive psychopath,”—and I’m here for it. 😌❤️‍🔥🖤

🌶 The Spice: He Says Pappa, I Hear Daddy 😏🔥

Quotes #1 (Bodin):
“Are you gonna come and milk my cock like a good little whore, baby? Be your Pappa’s perfect cockslut?”

Quotes #2 (Bodin):
“Do you need to be fucked, kaninen min? You need your Pappa to fuck you into the mattress until your mind goes blank?”

💭 So here’s the thing—this book says “Pappa” instead of “Daddy.” And look, I don’t hate it—but my heart (and kinks 😏) will forever belong to Daddy. Still, when Bodin starts talking like that? Yeah, coherence who? My brain just bluescreens. 😳🥵

Spice-wise, it’s not a nonstop ride, but when it hits… holy hell it hits. Low quantity, high voltage. Dark, filthy, and hot enough to make you sweat. 😏🔥💦🖤

📝 TLDR 📝

Give this one a go if you’re into:
🧸 Daddy/little dynamics with extra soft caregiving energy
🔪 A “touch him and die (literally ☠️)” kinda protective Daddy
💞 Fragile baby boy who craves love, safety, and a place to belong
🖤 A unique combo of dark romance and age play that feels emotional
🧠 A possessive, obsessive Daddy who’d burn the world down for his boy
🪞 That delicious contrast between tenderness and madness

P.S. 💌

🙂‍↔️ Don’t go looking for logic here, babes. We’re not asking where Daddy’s money comes from or if Colby ever turned in his damn assignments—we’re just here for the murder cuddles and the vibes. 😌🔪🧸💞
✨ Vibes over plot, always ✨

Quotes: ⚠️ Spoilers ⛔️

I held back my tears.
I just… wanted someone to take care of me.
…someone to say, “You’re safe now. I’ve got you.”
Someone to hold me and mean it.
-
So I let myself fantasize, just for tonight, just for the walk back. Maybe in another life I’d be older, prettier, successful, and less… worthless. Less me.
-
My throat tightened, not with fear this time, but with the dangerous realization that maybe, just maybe, I could have him.
Still, I wanted to comment on how strange it was for him to make grand declarations so early on. It was a little… intense. A little bit of a red flag, to be honest. But apparently, my heart loved that color.
-
“You really do need someone to look after you.”
“I-I know that’s a lot to ask. And… and you don’t even know the full extent of it…”
“It’s not. It just means you need the right person.”
“And you think that’s you..?”
“I don’t think. I know.”
-
“You don’t have to carry it all alone. I will be your shield. Your harbor. Your home. Anything you wish.”
-
“Pappa will keep you safe.”
“Promise?”
“Always.”
-
“Sweetheart, there’s nothing childish about wanting to be loved.”
-
“You’re never too old to want comfort, or love, or to heal the parts of you that were left hurting.”
-
I hung back, hands in my pockets, watching him with a warmth I didn’t recognize in myself. A man like me didn’t get this kind of sweetness—not without breaking something along the way. And yet, there he was. My Colby.
-
“I’m going to fuck you,” I rasped, mapping the shape of his body with my roaming hands and lips. “Do you want that? Do you want Pappa’s dick to fill you up, sweetheart?”
-
“I’m right here,” he whispered into my hair, over and over. “I’ve got you. You’re mine, and I’m yours. Nothing will come between us. Pappa’s never letting you go.”
And though my heart felt like it was tearing in two, I clung to him anyway—because as terrifying as his actions were, the thought of letting go of him was even worse.
-
Pappa didn’t let go once. His arms were a cage, but it wasn’t the kind I wanted to escape.
-
“How… how do you know they won’t catch you, Pappa?”
“Because they never have.”
-
“I’ve never loved anyone, Colby. Never. Do you understand? I’ve never wanted to protect anyone. Never cared what happened to them. Not until you.” His hand cupped my cheek, thumb trembling as it brushed away a tear I didn’t realize had fallen. “You’re the only one I’ve ever wanted to keep. To take care of. To love. That’s the difference. That’s why I could never hurt you. Because without you—” his voice broke, and he swallowed hard, “—without you, I’m nothing.”
-
My boyfriend had just confessed to being a serial killer, and yet my most pressing concern wasn’t the people he’d killed or the violence he was steeped in. No. My primary concern was how to accept what he’d done in order to stay with him.
-
Without him, there was no me.
There was only darkness.
-
“Listen to me,” I murmured, pressing my forehead against his. “Please, kanin. I’ll—I’ll try to stop… I’ll do better. Please just… I need you. I need you more than air.”
-
The world could tear itself apart outside these walls, and I wouldn’t notice. Wouldn’t care. Because all that mattered was right here, shuddering in my arms, small and breakable and mine.
-
My heart ached at the sight of it—he was so trusting, so small, every ounce of his weight resting in my arms.
It would kill me to lose him.
I’d made him dependent on me, sure, but in turn, I’d become just as reliant on him.
-
“You’ll never be alone again, kanin. Not while I breathe, not while I exist. I’ll burn the entire world before I ever let it touch you.”
-
He had me chained just as surely as I had him. And I wouldn’t break free—didn’t want to.
Without him, there was nothing left of me worth saving.
-
“Colby… oh, sweetheart… I’ll do anything. Anything you need. You want time? I’ll give you time. You want space? I’ll stay an arm’s length if that’s what makes you feel safe. Just don’t—” My voice caught, the words breaking before I forced them out. “Don’t shut me out. Don’t take yourself away from me. Please, my love.”
-
“I don’t want to lose you,” I whispered against his skin. “You’re all I have. All I want.”
His arms tightened around me like he was holding the whole world together with his grip. “Then you won’t. I’ll never let you lose me. Never.”
-
“I’m going to breed you, Colby. Gonna fill that belly with my cum.”
“Yes, yes, yes, yes,” I yelled, my own orgasm building fast, my balls tightening.
“Come with me, baby,” he ordered, voice strained.
“So close, so close!”
Pappa’s hips stuttered as he roared, spilling his seed into the deepest part of me. Breeding me, like he’d said. The heat of his release pushed me over the edge and left me free-falling, fireworks going off behind my eyes.
-
“You’re my everything, Colby,” he whispered, like it was a truth carved into his bones.
“I love you so much, Pappa,” I breathed, soft and certain.
His arms tightened around me, protective and unyielding. “I love you too, little one.”

Colby belonged to me. He just didn’t know it yet.

I’m a little on the fence about this one. I wanted to like it, but it was missing that extra spark, an extra connection between the MCs beyond the physical.
Daddy’s Muse was a pretty standard stalker romance — big bad Daddy serial killer goes soft for the innocent little.

“Rest now,” I murmured. “Pappa’s watching over you.” Even when you don’t know it.

Apart from the sexy Viking murderer, this didn’t really make a strong impression. The characters lacked backstory, the romance was too insta-love for me. I wanted a bit more explanation into the why Bodin is the way he is, more feels between other than they think the other is hot and so they must be meant to be.

“You cry so pretty,” I said softly, the words slipping out like a confession. “Like every drop is just for me. Will you cry more for Pappa?”

Also, this might just be me but Pappa is so unsexy compared to Daddy.
All in all, this wasn’t a bad read, just very average in the ‘serial killer romance’ genre.

I just… wanted someone to take care of me. …someone to say, “You’re safe now. I’ve got you.” Someone to hold me and mean it.

Please check the tw since this is not a light read!

Well this was a wild ride 🙈 Bodin is a series unaliver, and he for sure is dangerous and unhinged and definitely very much obsessed with Colby, who is a sweet student who desperately wants love and someone who takes care of him.

There is an age gap, and there is age play between the MCs. Bodin is a little disillusioned, since he sees Colby as a 'gift from the gods' so be prepared for a very special love story with these two 🤭

If you like your MCs unhinged and a bit psycho, but sweet with their partner, you should probably read this one ❤️‍🔥

ARC Review

This book is completely unhinged...and I loved every second of it. It's dark, depraved, and obsessive.

Bodin is a manipulative, possessive serial killer Daddy, and Colby is his fragile little muse.
The way their relationship unfolds is wrong, it’s messy, it’s manipulative...and it is absolutely addictive.

Colby’s vulnerability made me love him so hard. He’s soft, lonely, and so desperate to be loved.
And then there’s Bodin, who sees all of that and claims it, twists it, worships it in his own broken way.

The obsession practically drips off every page, and I ate that shit up!
The age play, the “touch him and die” energy, the dark rituals. Perfect. Absolutely perfect.

And the way Bodin fell so fucking hard? Nothing like a Daddy that would burn the world down for his boy. 10/10. No notes.

Spent the whole day reading this with breaks in-between and I really enjoyed it! I loved how Bodin cared for Colby, so sweeeet 🥰
The one thing I didn't like so much was that although I knew from the beginning that Bodin was Norwegian, I didn't count the fact that the Norwegian language would be included in the sex scenes. Reason being that as a Swede myself, I can't read spicy books in my native language - because it is so cringe to read. Norwegian being similar to Swedish don't help that fact, so it always took me out of the situation.

Well. This was... not for me, lol. I did mostly finish it (i.e. skimmed more and more in the last half), and the first half was deliciously twisted. I think I just prefer my dark romance to be.... . .. more romantic?

No, that's not quite it.

I don't necessarily need the murdery bits to be justified Dexter-style, although I do love that, but I prefer it when the love interest realizes that a part of him resonates with his partner's serial killer instincts vs... this.

Maybe I'm just not the target audience? 🤷‍♀️ But tl;dr I think this is an author I'll pass on in the future.

Who doesn't love a serial killer daddy? :) I really enjoyed this dark romance from E. Baileu - who is quickly becoming one of my favorite go-tos for dark & twisted, but with real emotion and some sweetness. I loved that Bodin stalked Colby to take care of him and watch after him. Yes - in real life - Red Flag. But it works for me in this book. I loved how patient he was and how Colby slowly warmed up to Bodin and they took things one step at a time. I loved learning about the little/Daddy dynamic, because that is one kink I haven't read much about. Bodin did his research to make sure Colby felt taken care of and understood and I absolutely loved that! I also enjoyed learning about Norse mythology and all the ways Bodin incorporated it into his everyday life. This is one installment of a multi-author series about serial killer daddies, and I might have to go check out the other ones. Who knew I'd love a good serial killer romance? :)

Not rating this. I’m guessing this is a me thing. I just couldn’t get past what he did to get them together. And maybe he tells him later, I just couldn’t get past it. But I liked the characters.

“You don’t have to be scared anymore. I’m going to take care of you.”
^ Page 62.

What in the actual fuck was that? I think I might be somewhat traumatised...

HUGE spoilers because I have little to no words to describe what that was. (Skip the paragraphs as they're the plot summary)

Bodin starts by sneaking into the college/uni to kill a teacher but he sees Colby crying. Bodin goes off to kill that guy anyway and comes back around 4am to give Colby his jacket as he's sleeping outside that night. Skip 2 months later, Colby's roommate Bryan is bullying him as usual and Colby is managing classes, full time job, tutoring and more every day.

Bodin begins stalking Colby and sets up cameras in his dorm so he can watch him. He puts Bryan in a coma so Colby can get some peace and quiet for a while. Only while he's gone, Colby decides to act like a child as he's a little. Bodin then decides to interact with him to earn his trust. Once they have each others phone numbers and Colby trusts Bodin, Bodin decides to scare the living shit out of Colby until he gives in and moves in with him.

They move in and Colby's in little space almost 24/7 and calling Bodin pappa. Bryan gets out the coma and Bodin decides to make a religious sacrifice thing and fuck Colby in the same room. 9 corpses and a virgin or something like that. Then Colby wakes up the next morning and goes back to being little as if everything is okay. The end.

- End of summary -

I'm not one for age play so that's partly my fault to blame for reading this one but the blurb and reviews sold me. But at the same time when you put "light age play no abdl" in the trigger warnings, could we please define what that means? I assumed a daddy kink and little boy nicknames. I don't think anyone wants to know how many kinky websites I ended up on trying to find out before I started to read this one.

^ For context, this book includes pacifiers, colouring, cuddling toys, bottles, cartoons, daddy (pappa) kink, cute pyjamas, naps, age regression, and potentially more I forgot. To my understanding that's not considered "light" when the only thing missing is diapers/nappies.

I was able to skip parts of the age play thing until 54% and even then I kept reading through it without commenting too much on it.

The part that really bothered me was at 80% with the ritual and sacrificing and whatever else was going on that I failed to understand.

I think I had my expectations a little too high from all the 5* I read and people recommending this on Facebook.

If age play and sacrificing is your thing, I'd highly recommend this book!

Two quotes to end the review:

“It just means you need the right person.” I swallowed hard. “And you think that’s you..?” The corner of his mouth tugged up, almost a smirk but softer. “I don’t think. I know.”
^ Page 108.

“You don’t have to carry it all alone,” he said, thumb moving gently against my tongue, “I will be your shield. Your harbor. Your home. Anything you wish.”

Here's E Baileu's "Daddy's Muse." It's a novel in the multi-author series, Bloody Desires.

["Colby Willis is used to being invisible, except when cruel laughter follows him through the halls of his college dorm, when bruises bloom beneath his sleeves, when loneliness sharpens into something unbearable.

And when he asks Colby to call him Pappa, to belong to him in every way, Colby doesn’t hesitate."]

One of the listed tropes (for your entertainment, because it entertained the hell out of me): "'like Cinderella, but the Prince is a serial killer Viking'". If I hadn't already been sold because of the rest of the series, that did it.

Also, this is the second book I’ve read that tied Norse/Norwegian history to Appalachia…not sure if that’s a coincidence or a real-life piece of history I didn’t know about. Either way, I’m here for it.

Also, there’s dynamic was less than healthy, but it was also really adorable. Colby tells readers that his favorite animal is bunnies, and then a few chapters later, Boden calls Coldy ‘my bunny’ in his head, and I melted and giggled and died a little.

Trigger Warnings: bullying, homophobia, stalking, psychological manipulation, serial murder, religious delusions pertaining to heathenry, graphic ritual sacrifice, poverty and food insecurity, child neglect/homeless/drug-addicted parents, drugging, and more.

🐰🐇🖤 Without him, there was no me. There was only darkness 🖤🐇🐰

"I wondered if he knew the power that lay in the innocence he exuded and the calmness his words brought on in me."

"He was too pure for my darkness, my desires. Yet I know that the closer I stand to his light, the darker my own edges will feel."

"I just wanted someone to take care of me. Someone to say, "You're safe now. I've got you.""

"No one else had ever tried to understand him, but I would. Even if I had to tear myself apart and remake every bone of who I was, I would become the man he needed."

"And I knew, with bone-deep certainty, that I'd burn the entire world to ash before I let anything take this from him."

This is my first book by this author and I highly enjoyed it. The flow was great. The characters fleshed out well. This book had some fantastic troupes. DD/lb (AP), broken boy, hurt/comfort, forced proximity, and age gap. This was a slow burn and the spice was on the low side, but I still really enjoyed this story. When the spice happened, it was 🔥🔥🥵.

This follows Bodin and Colby. Colby is a college student who is struggling and gets bullied constantly. Bodin is a serial unaliver who ends up seeing Colby being bullied. Straight off, Bodin was obsessed and curious about Colby. He ends up stalking him, manipulating him, and protects him from everything. Even tho Bodin does what he does, his intentions are pure for his little prince. These two had amazing chemistry and a soul connection. I was curious how this would end with Colby finding out what Bodin does and what he's all about. I'm so happy to see them get their HEA. I loved everything about Bodin's character and the Norse Norwegian folk lore in this. The plot with this was amazing and super well done. I loved the language and nicknames, too 😌🥰. I highly recommend and I will definitely be checking out more books by this author.

This is part of the Bloody Desires series and is a Dark Romance so check your TWs before heading into this one. It does have a HEA so no worries there

Our poor little bebe Colby is struggling. He has never really belonged any where or had anyone that would look out for him. Coming to college unfortunately is no different especially with a trash bag for a room mate.
Bodin lives his life in the shadows, that is until he see's Colby. Unsure why he is having this reaction to Colby he um..."follows" him... to get a better understanding of who he is. What he finds is Colby is someone who needs his protection and care because he is too soft for the world around him. Bodin starts integrating himself into Colby's life and even puts events in motion that show Colby he is safest only when he is with him.
Now is this completely OTT behavior...it sure is...Does Colby need someone to take care of him and help shoulder life's burdens though...he sure does!! So maybe the OTT behavior can be ignored 🫣
I actually sorta liked some of the more unusual aspects of this, that Bodin's gods sent him Colby because in a way Bodin is a protector and Colby needed protecting. It had a "fated mate" feel to it which I loved! I was like you go ahead and make that sacrifice to those gods Bodin it's cool! (The sacrifice being a person 🤦🏻‍♀️) So that being said I repeat this is a Dark Romance and coupled with the Age Play in the Daddy/Boy world make sure you read through everything before jumping into this one.

Daddy’s Muse by E. Baileu is everything I crave in a dark romance. Sick, twisted, morally gray, and somehow heartbreakingly beautiful.

Colby is a timid yet fierce college student who just wants someone to say, “You’re safe now. I’ve got you.” Enter Bodin, a mysterious man who begins stalking him…protecting him. Bodin is convinced that the Gods and fate sent Colby to him. And honestly? He’s right.

This book leans into every toxic red flag and still makes you want it for them, because the author shows us that Bodin and Colby’s relationship isn’t about society’s morals…it’s about their deepest desires. Bodin manipulates the world around Colby, sets rules that would feel suffocating to anyone else, and crosses every line. But for Colby, who is exhausted, lonely, and desperate for care, Bodin becomes his harbor, his Pappa, his everything.

✨Highlights for me✨
💧 The pagan elements (a refreshing twist from the usual religious undertones in dark romance)
💧 Bodin’s deranged obsession balanced with tenderness
💧 Colby’s broken, soft vulnerability
💧 The way the toxic codependency is written so vividly, you feel it

⚠️ This is not a healthy romance, and it’s not meant to be. But it’s enthralling, immersive, and one of those books I wished was three times longer.

If you love morally gray killers, Daddy/little dynamics (age play, no ABDL), dacryphilia, obsession, forced proximity, and two characters who choose each other over right and wrong—this one will absolutely consume you.

Check the CW!

3 🌶️💦

Leave it to E.Baileu to give us a hot obsessive stalker daddy!
We always get our dose of red flag MC and I'm all for it.

I loved Colby's character.
He was so well written, from his background story to his current struggles. He definitely deserved his spot at the University, he's so smart.
That's why I kinda wish we got more info about Bodin. I understand that being this mysterious hot daddy from Norway adds to his daddy charm but yeah, he definitely is hot not questioning that. He might be a serial killer but this guy takes care of his man properly! Ofc with a little bit of crazy here and there but that's what we crave for when we read these types of books right? A man that's hot and crazy 💦

I also wanted to know more about what happened after that year(during the epilogue )or when Colby had more time to fully think about what Bodin did and who he really was, it felt that he accepted it quite quickly.

Compliments to the author for enlightening me about littles and caregivers. I had zero clue about this type of dynamic kink and it was so interesting to read that I researched about it after reading the novel. I liked that even though Bodin was not much familiar with littles and caregivers at the beginning but for Colby, he tried to check them and catered for his needs.

Big thanks to E.Baileu for the ARC 🤍

ARC Review — 3.5 ⭐

I have to say I have been gradually making my way through all of the books in the Bloody Desires series and every author has absolutely been killing it (Baileu included), I was absolutely stoked to get this ARC.

Bodin and Colby are a very interesting couple that made for an intriguing read - in the sense of that Colby in my eyes was the pinnacle of innocence and literally is one of the sweetest boys ever. In contrast, Bodin from the very first chapter has this consistent eeriness to home that just made his character feel threatening. The books hunter x hunted vibes were giving Animal Planet documentary is all the best ways.

This books was also surprisingly low spice/smut, with only a few sex scenes towards the end. Which I wasn't expecting given the author's books, but I"m not mad at. The scenes we did get were well written.

The main reason why I won't rate the book higher than 3.5 stars is primarily because it just feels like there is a lot missing, like if someone told me there was a full 100+ page third act to this book that got deleted and replaced with the last 40ish pages.. I would believe you. As the fall out from the story's climax is... underwhelming to stay the least. I kept waiting for Colby to find out about everything that played into him meeting Bodin and their relationship, but it just never comes. I mean I don't like 3rd act break ups most of the time but this is one of the rare occasions where I feel like it could've elevated the story. There were some other things missing as well like Bodin's backstory, or what really happened in the one year between the last chapter and the epilogue. And while I definitely think most people can still enjoy this book even without these things, for me there was a little bit of dissatisfaction by the time I finished it.

Overall though, it's still 100% worth checking out and it's a great addition to Baileu's catalog.

story of Colby and Bodin

This is a hurt / comfort dark romance, featuring Colby and Bodin, and is book twelve in the Bloody Desires multi author series.

Colby finds unexpected comfort in Bodin, a mysterious man who shows him gentleness for the first time. But as Colby becomes the target of a stalker, he doesn’t realise the man protecting him might be far more dangerous than anyone else.

This book was definitely dark. Colby’s pain and Bodin’s obsession and need to protect him make for a haunting love story that’s both kind of sweet in a twisted way. It’s a mix of danger, devotion, and unexpected softness that lingers.

Things to expect in this book are:

ARC REVIEW

Bodin is a dangerous, possessive serial killer with that unshakable Daddy energy, while Colby feels fragile, soft, and achingly desperate for love. Their dynamic is twisted and wrong on so many levels, yet I couldn’t look away.

What hooked me most was Colby’s vulnerability. He just wants to be seen and cherished, and Bodin takes that need and turns it into something dark but magnetic. The obsession between them bleeds through every page, and I devoured it.

This book was absolutely wild in the best way. Dark, obsessive, and a little messed up, but that’s exactly what made it so addictive.

The age play, the intensity, the rituals, that fierce “he’s mine” vibe was everything I wanted from a dark romance. Messy, toxic and addictive!

Almost every single book in this multi author series I’ve read, yet this one is by FAR my favorite. The story line is pretty unique and different from any serial killer dark romance I’ve read. I will say for sure read the TWs. For me, it was the perfect amount of sweet and dark. The relationship between the two is DEFINITELY not healthy and Bodin is a giant walking red flag, but damn are they cute together. It honestly made me so giddy reading them interacting together and them being so accepting of the other, even if hesitantly at first for both sides. If there’s one thing I could complain about, it’s that I felt like the end was rushed and I wished the book was longer. I would have loved to learn more about Bodins back story and had a few more sex scenes (surprisingly this book had more plot than smut.) other then that, this will probably be one of the few in the series I will most likely read again.

This was such a fun and interesting read!
Colby just melted my heart from the beginning - he's just so innocent and precious and needs to be protected at all costs! Its no surprise Bodin decides the exact same thing and goes about it in very manipulative and unhinged ways. It was fun to see how all his plans played out, but DAMN sometimes I just wanted to scream at him to stop terrorising the poor baby! However he did do extensive research on how to meet Colbys needs and does do some sweet (and twisted) things for him, so I suppose we will let him off the hook.
Its definitely a crazy ride, but I really enjoyed it.

This book was filthy, obsessive, and unexpectedly tender.

Bodin is completely unhinged in the best way.....a stalker with a purpose and a knife, dead set on worshipping his boy. Colby’s shy, sweet, and wrecked just enough to crave exactly what Bodin offers: control, protection, and a Daddy who sees him.
The writing balances chaos and care beautifully. It’s sharp, punchy, and surprisingly emotional, especially in the way it handles Colby’s inner thoughts and insecurities. And yes, the sex is wild. Soft one moment, feral the next. It’s messy, unfiltered, and hot in a way that doesn't feel polished or choreographed
Twisted, kinky, and darkly romantic

Thanks for the ARC

I love this author's books. I have read every one in this series.
This book was a bit different since the stalker and persued end up in a different place than the couples/throple of her other books. But, who wants the same thing over and over.
I loved all the Norwegian influences from Bodin, all the beliefs and language and endearment. And who wouldn't adore Colby and his hard life that he was trying so hard to climb out from under.
The reason this was four instead of five stars is because the flow of the book, imho hit a snag at the end. There is a ritual that just didn't hit exactly right with me and slowed the pace, that is just me though. Still a fun time.

3.4⭐️ I really enjoyed this author’s writing style.
I enjoyed the serial killer aspect, along with the Norse religion/customs. It kept the plot interesting.

Unfortunately I’m not a fan of DDlb, specifically “littles”. I tend to keep away from books that dive into the world of “littles” kink but I was interested in this author and the story itself. “littles” just makes me cringe unfortunately and took me out of the story a bit. But the overall book was written well and kept me invested that I can overlook it.

So the lower rating has nothing to do with the writing but the type of kink involved. This is the first book I’ve read from Baileu and I plan on reading the Twisted Desire series.

Bodin is manipulative and conniving to say the least! He takes complete advantage of Colby's need to be loved and wanted and uses it to control every part of his life! I was waiting for some sort of redemption for Bodin but that never came and I can't tell if that made me love this book or if I'm pissed about it!

I finished the book, but I didn't love it. I just couldn't connect with the viking MC. We didn't get to learn what motivated him (except for him being Sami), how old he was and how he was able to afford the lifestyle he offered the other MC. What was the specific reason for his previous kills? And it was just so awkward that he scared the MC out of his hard earned university life and isolated him from everyone. It reminded me of stay at home girlfriends that end up homeless/with nothing after their partners leave them.

God, the way Bodin was so down bad for Colby in an almost borderline psychotic way was so romantic 👀. I think him deciding Colby was his after just one night had me loving every chapter, because he became exactly what Colby needed. And honestly, Colby deserved the happiness that Bodin brought into his life.
Don’t get me wrong—Bodin was extremely possessive of Colby, and the way he got close to him was definitely...unconventional. But overall, he just wanted Colby to live a carefree, safe life, and that made me love their whole dynamic throughout the book.

AN UNALIVER DADDY READ THAT THIS LADY QUITE ENJOYED!

This is a multi-author series that is definitely a series I highly enjoy! Colby is such a sweetheart that has gone through so much in his life, and I wanted to hug him so! Then comes Bodin, who is a dark and enthralling man. The way Bodin and Colby are with each other is so passionate and loved them! I found this read to be a great addition to this series!

I enjoyed this book. There were things I wish were a little different but overall it was well done. It was slow burn. I was surprised by the way Colby reacted when he found out the truth. I expected more fear. I also didn't like the way Bodin purposely made him scared. I don't think he needed to do that. Other than those things I did enjoy the little aspect of the story and the way Colby found little space so quickly with Bodin. They really did need each other. It was very sweet.

It was fast-paced, and I would have loved so much more backstory on Bodin, but I had a good time reading this and devoured it in one sitting. The tropes and sweetness and overall vibes just really worked!
