Falling in love with her first love wasn’t part of her plan. Helping her kill the Hollywood elite wasn’t part of his.

Hollywood loves a comeback. Too bad Evie Reyes didn’t come back to play nice.

Five years ago, she watched her mother—an iconic Final Girl—die on the set of Simon Says. Now, she’s back on the same studio lot, cast as the lead in the reboot no one asked for. But Evie’s not here for fame. She’s here for revenge—and she’s got six names on her list.

Sebastian Shaw is Hollywood’s golden boy, a walking six-pack with just enough charm to disguise the fact that he’s a professional liar. He also happens to be Evie’s ex. When he finds out why she’s really back, he doesn’t try to stop her. He offers a he’ll get her access to each of the men she wants to confront—in exchange for six chances to sleep with her.

No feelings. No strings. Definitely no dates.

As bodies pile up and the on-set accidents get harder to explain away, Evie walks a razor-thin line between staying alive and getting justice. And Sebastian? He might be the only person who sees her clearly—and the one person she can’t afford to trust.

This Final Girl isn’t just surviving—she’s stealing the whole damn show

Tylor Paige (she/her) is an Amazon Top 3 bestselling author of what her readers have lovingly labeled, whorror.

Tylor is proof that horror doesn’t have to be serious to be effective. It can be self-aware, playful, and at times romantic, while still telling a solid scary story. In blending her passions for both romance and horror she’s not only creating something that’s both risqué and bloody, she’s bridging the gap between the hopelessly romantic and the hopelessly haunted.

🚨TRIGGER WARNINGS (in the Content Warnings section)🚨

in this hollywood slasher, we're taken behind the scenes of the filmshoot for simon says six: six six, where a-list asshole sebastian shaw and daughter of murdered hollywood star evie reyes try to solve evie's mother's murder, kill all those involved in arya hit-list style, all the while co-starring in the film and trying not to fall for each other.

i ADORED the slasher element and sebastian & evie's "horror movie code" (e.g. "BEEP BEEP RITCHIE" iykyk). as a HORROR FAN AIR CONDITIONER i was so sat for the plot. HOWEVER sebastian literally COULD NOT STOP talking about his c*ck, he was most possessive jealous simp MMC EVER, we got so little of evie, and the serial killing plot got lost in the chaos of too many things happening at once. the serial killings were also not carefully planned out...leaving lots of room for them to get caught. the biggest no-no for me was the CNC content: i tried to pulled thru but at 50% i had to say 🙅‍♀️

if you're a horror addict like me and these tropes interest you, PLEASE don't let my review stop you from giving it a nice good read. i will just highly highly highly recommend you to read the content warnings ❣️

Thank you Victory Editing and NetGalley Co-op for this ARC in exchange for an HONEST review.

Where do I begin...
This book was not for me, I have ended up DNFing it at 50% mark. The "Dubious consent" poker table scene was the final straw for me. I am aware that this a dark horror slasher romance. But PLEASE read / research the trigger warnings.
This book does show the true reality of inside Hollywood.

I will admit, I personally was not a big fan of our MMC Sebastian, his inner monologue about his dick and how hypocritical he was in regards to how Evie spent her time apart from him while also having his own issues regarding the extent of his sexual experiences really annoyed me, it weirdly felt like he really only wanted her for her body in some moments.
And the amount of Red Bulls this guy was having should have given him a heart attack (Ironic isn't it)
Evie was great, apart from the fact that she only had step one of her plan figured out (Avenge her Mother and Kill) but had no concept or idea of how to deal with aftermath really annoyed me cause what you mean you had no idea??
I did think their 'Insta Lust' was a bit much, even though this is a second chance romance, Sebastian comes on a bit too strongly.

Bryce was my favourite character by far... he was such a great guy to read about and I loved every scene with him and Skye in it, I wonder if there will be another book about them cause I would be up to reading about them. I loved all the horror movie quotes and references, as well as the doggies being named after horror icons ,That really made things special and kind of connected the characters together. The writing itself was pretty easy to understand and definitely brought out some emotions in me, even if they were tense.

Okay!! This one was fun! For me, it’s one of those books you read for a good time and don’t take too seriously and that’s exactly the mood I was in, so I really enjoyed it.

The horror references were top notch, and I loved both main characters and their friends. All the personalities really stood out. The storyline kept me hooked the whole way through, which made it such an easy, entertaining read.

I also had the chance to listen to the audiobook and really enjoyed the performances by Luke Persiani and Ryder Sol. This was my first time listening to either of them, and they made it so easy to follow along while bringing the characters to life perfectly.

Overall, I had a great time with this one and I’m excited to add it to my shelf.

*picks up the stack of scripts on the table and hands them out to each reader*
Okay team, let’s remember what we are doing here - we are currently working on a review for a top anticipated dark romance read and we want to make sure we are providing the audience with what they need. So, let’s start off by setting the stage here….
*flips open to page 1*

Evie Reyes, after finding her mother dead on the set of her last movie, has found herself years later back in Hollywood, ready to feature in the upcoming installment of the horror film, Simon Says, Simon Says Six: Six Six; the very same franchise that her mother was last featured in before she had passed away from an apparent suicide. While many are excited, and a few shocked, to see the daughter of one of the most talented actresses stepping in her mother’s shoes, the role that Evie is playing isn’t necessarily the reason she wants to be included within this latest installment. Actually, Evie is there for one thing and one thing only - to get revenge on the six men that were last seen with her mother and the culprits that she believes killed her mother on that set. With so much at stake, Evie doesn’t let anything get in her mind nor in her way, until she’s seen who her co-star and love interest in the movie is going to be. That co-star is none other than her ex-boyfriend, Sebastian, who is more than willing to make sure Evie is his “Final Girl” and back in his arms just where they left off five years ago. The only problem? Evie isn’t there to play a role and rekindle a romance, she’s here for revenge for her mother - even if she does feel something spark back between her and her first love. In fact, it just so happens she’s found herself in quite a predicament when Sebastian, lovingly and yearning his way with pizza at her front door one night, finds Evie and her first kill together in her room. But Sebastian has other plans that night and if that means assisting Evie in killing the men she is set on revenge with, he will be more than happy to do so. In fact, he’s given Evie a proposal - he’ll help her kill the Hollywood Elite on her revenge list as long as she provides him with six chances to win her back; one chance for each man she’s looking to kill.

Alright, everyone still on board with me here?
We know the basis and got the readers intrigued.
Now we need to get them really interested.
*takes a sip of her iced coffee as she flips to page five*

Let’s focus on some of the main tropes that are going to be involved….

📽 Morally Gray MMC x Morally Gray FMC
📽 Second Chance Dark Romance
📽 Enemies/Distrust To Lovers
📽 Slow Burn & Spicy Scenes
📽 Revenge Thriller/Slasher Horror
📽 Unhinged Found Family

I know there are many more tropes out there than just this within the book but I think these really give that “bite” that we are looking for with those that we’ve grabbed interest with so far. Any questions from the team before we begin?
Alright - great!
You guys know the drill…….ACTION!

Okay, I’m already cringing right now at this review - I tried to make it seem like I was a director and you guys were being handed the scripts for understanding the story preview and the tropes. Did it execute well? *covers eyes while shaking head slowly*

Okay, cringe aside with what my attempt of a quirky review there was trying to do, let me give an actual review of this book from my point of view….

The book starts off by really hooking you in - you have a good plot, a blooming romance, a mystery to unwrap, and even a horror hook that keeps you intrigued. Yet, as you get towards 60% of the way, I felt as though this is when it really lost it’s momentum. The kills started to become sloppier and unrealistic, the movie that the team was working on was starting to morph into something else entirely, and the chemistry/connection that the romance duo once had was starting to become more toxic and forced. I get that a book like this is a homage to traditional slasher flicks and the satire humor will be there in many situations, which I am a huge fan of by the way, but in this case, I felt as though the tone of the book and direction went into a completely different field towards the last 40%, resulting in a lackluster ending that felt almost disappointing. Now, this might just be my preference coming into play on why I felt like it wasn’t as satisfactory towards the last section of the book - so take that with a grain of salt, especially with so many five star ratings that are out there compared to my three star.

I would say that someone I was really interested in throughout the entire storyline was Bryce. He was more so someone on the sidelines and in the background most of the time, however, each time he was mentioned or bought into the story, he really delivered. In fact, I really feel as though we need a completely different book just for Bryce alone. If anyone is reading this right now from the author and/or the publishing team, I ask that you guys consider featuring Bryce as an MMC in a future book as he definitely would be someone with a story to tell!

Overall, I would say that this book did keep me intrigued and I found myself enjoying the pacing of the storyline and interested enough to want to see what happens throughout. You are also unraveling many questions that come about in the story which makes for an even more appealing catch. I also REALLY enjoyed the use of movie lines throughout the book that the FMC and MMC used as a “secret language” with each other. So much so that I even found myself wanting to adapt this in my own life somehow with how fun it was! I just felt as though I really put a lot of expectations on this storyline from the way that it started. I felt as though I would have preferred this to slow down a bit, add some extra weight to the book if you will, so that we had a more well-rounded story and less rush that it seemed was happening around that 60% mark.

Once again, this is definitely a read that I recommend you pick up as I devoured the hell out of this within a day. So was it worth reading? Absolutely. But was it the best book I ever read and need a physical copy of? Not really. But if you are someone who loves horror related romance mixed with mystery, humor, and suspenseful intrigue, you should definitely pick up Good For Her coming out this month on APRIL 28, because it definitely satisfies each of this points within this upcoming read! In fact, if anything interested you at all from this review, you can just stop at any point and say “BEEP BEEP RITCHIE” and move on happily placing this as your next TBR read. ;)

NOTE: I received Good For Her as an ARC from NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-Op in exchange for an honest review.

So this was hard for me to rate because I love all the horror vibes and puns between evie and Sebastian. And loved that evie wanted revenge for her mothers murder. But for a girl who has a podcast knows horror movies by heart.. was so unprepared for her revenge. She was messy and didnt think things though. And yeah I didnt want her to be line a master mind but atleast think and plan. So yeah I was annoyed about that. And the fact she kept pushing and pulling Sebastian when he always showed up for her. Hell he helped her murder ppls and the way she was acting showed me she didnt love him as much as he loved her.

Dont get me wrong Sebastian did some eh things to like not telling Evie the truth that he had to do sex things to get ahead in his career, he was groomed. I think evie would've understood and not held it against him.

Also I started feeling eh sky just accepted them being murders and help murder ppls with them. Like?!? You don't know these ppls and you help them? Seems sus if you asked me. But she's still a good guy.

Saftey-please check Triggers there is a poker dub scene that seb used his free-use on evie infront of the Hollywood ppls. She was forced to do it. It was with Sebastian but he didnt want to they had to.

Five years ago Evie and her boyfriend Sebastian stumbled upon her mother's body. Sold as a suicide, her mother, the famous horror queen Lita Reyes warned her daughter that very night, she feared murder in her own future. Those closest to her know the suicide plot was created by dark men running Hollywood, but no one can prove it.

Now, grown and ready for revenge, Evie returns to Hollywood horror to star in the very series that Lita Reyes was made infamous in: SIMON SAYS.

But Evie's not back to chase stardom, she's here for business, and the only thing that could slow her down is her first love and THE current Hollywood playboy, Sebastian.

For Sebastian, Hollywood has been one person after another taking advantage and sexualizing him. So when he and Evie collide in their revenge era, sparks (and some modesty covers) fly!

Spice, mystery and even plenty of laughs are between the pages of these BEAUTIFUL covers, and I thank NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ALC. The duel narration is spot on and super sexy!

Nothing gets me faster than a book that opens with the energy of “I have unresolved trauma, a revenge list, and unfortunately my ex is still hot.” That’s it. That’s the plot.

Good for Her knows exactly what it is, and thank God, because I do not have the patience for books that act shy about being messy. This is a woman returning to Hollywood to avenge her dead mother, bodies are dropping, everyone is suspicious, and her ex decides the best way to help is by essentially saying, “I support your murder journey, but I would also like to make it weirdly sexual.” Cinema. Absolute cinema.

Evie Reyes comes back to Hollywood carrying enough rage to power the entire studio lot. Five years ago, she watched her mother, an actual scream queen and iconic Final Girl, die on the set of Simon Says, and now she’s been cast as the lead in the reboot of that same movie because apparently the universe looked at her trauma and said, “Have you considered more of it?” But Evie is not here for closure. She is not here for career opportunities. She is here with six names and the kind of eye contact that makes men suddenly remember they left the stove on.

This woman rolls back into Hollywood like if Sidney Prescott had better eyeliner and a revenge spreadsheet. Every producer, director, and morally bankrupt industry man should have started packing immediately. She’s not trying to survive the horror movie, she’s trying to become the problem, and I support women’s rights and women’s wrongs equally.

Unfortunately for her, and fortunately for me, Sebastian Shaw is also here. Sebastian is her ex, Hollywood’s favorite charming liar, and the kind of man who absolutely says things like “trust me” while actively being the least trustworthy person in a ten-mile radius. He finds out Evie’s revenge plan and instead of saying something reasonable like “please seek help,” he offers her a deal. He’ll help her get close to every man on her list… in exchange for six hookups. Six. Sir, this is extortion with abs.

And the worst part is… it works. Because Sebastian is written with the kind of annoying emotional depth that ruins a perfectly good hate-read. I wanted him to just be Hot Problem Man #12, but no, he has layers. He has history with Evie. He has guilt, regret, actual feelings. Rude. Their dynamic is all sharp edges and old wounds and the specific kind of chemistry where every conversation feels like foreplay and a hostage negotiation at the same time. Exactly my brand of nonsense.

Evie is the real star, though. She’s angry in that deliciously earned way, where you’re not questioning her choices so much as asking if she needs help hiding a body. She’s grieving, messy, funny, and so committed to the bit that even when she knows she’s making the worst possible decision, she still walks straight into it in great shoes. I love a female main character who is not trying to be likable. She is trying to get justice and maybe ruin several powerful men before lunch. That’s feminism.

The Hollywood horror setting is perfect because everyone already seems like they’re one bad audition away from murder anyway. The Simon Says reboot is this glossy little nightmare full of ego, secrets, and people who should absolutely not be left alone with NDAs. It has that delicious self-aware slasher energy where the industry itself feels like the villain, and honestly… accurate. The whole thing feels like Scream and Jennifer’s Body got drunk together and decided revenge was self-care.

And because we need to discuss the audiobook, Luke Persiani and Ryder Sol absolutely showed up ready to cause problems for me personally. Luke gives Sebastian exactly the right voice, smooth, cocky, just enough softness underneath that you start making excuses for him against your will. Dangerous. Ryder gives Evie this perfect mix of fury and vulnerability, like she could either kiss you or key your car and both would feel narratively satisfying. Together, it’s that magic dual narration sweet spot where suddenly you’re folding laundry like you’re also complicit in these crimes.

Tylor Paige really understands that the “good for her” genre only works if you let the woman be genuinely furious. Not cute angry. Not “she’s feisty.” I mean full scorched-earth, burn-the-system-down rage. And underneath all the murder and banter, there’s real grief here. Evie isn’t just chasing revenge because it’s fun and sexy, though occasionally it is. She’s trying to make sense of losing her mother, of being failed by everyone who should have protected her, and of what justice even looks like when the people with power keep rewriting the script.

Which is why the romance works. It’s not soft. It’s not easy. It’s two people dragging years of damage behind them like emotional carry-on luggage and somehow still finding their way back to each other. Sometimes love is flowers. Sometimes it’s helping your ex investigate suspicious deaths while negotiating a sex contract like you’re drafting corporate policy.

I had such a ridiculously good time with this. It’s sharp, sexy, bloody, and just unhinged enough that every time Evie made a choice, I whispered “girl…” and then immediately wanted her to continue. Four stars, easily. I came for revenge murder and stayed for the emotional damage, the final girl fury, and a man who looked at a vengeance quest and said, “Cool, but can I make it horny?”

Huge thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the ALC, and for once again supporting my favorite hobby, which is letting fictional hot people make catastrophic life choices directly into my headphones while I nod along like yes, absolutely, this seems healthy.

This book was so addictive!

It was dark, messy, and completely gripping from start to finish. The premise alone hooked me: a girl whose mum was a “final girl” in a horror franchise, now dead ruled suicide but her daughter knows that’s not the case, and she’s determined to find out what really happened.

I honestly couldn’t put this down. It reads like a TV series in the best way! fast-paced, dramatic, and full of twists that keep you guessing. Every time I thought I had it figured out, something else came out.

Highly recommend if you love suspense, mystery and horror!

Thank you NetGalley for providing the arc in exchange for my review.

🎬She. Is. My. Final. Girl.🎬

This is definitely a story about getting revenge and seeking vengeance on the ones who I like to refer to as “They.” The elite, the corrupted ones that hold power, the puppeteers, people who do horrific demented sh!t and get away with it. But they don’t get away with it in this book.

Evie is our FMC who has come back to Hollywood with one thing in mind and a list. A very specific list. She will avenge her mother for what was done to her 5yrs prior. But she is not the only one who seeks revenge. Sebastian, the boy she left behind, has a few scores to settle himself for his own reasons. They are brought together again to film Simon Says 666, which is a slasher film franchise. Both must navigate through their feelings and goals. As they go down the list, secrets and betrayals are revealed. Everything Evie thought she knew goes way deeper and darker than she imagined.

Both of our MCs are horror fanatics and even use horror movie quotes as their own language. We get some very spicy scenes. 🥵 Even one in a well known house from a particular Hitchcock movie. Lots of red bull, bleach, sex and blood. What else do you need? 😂

Beep Beep Richie!! That is all you get. This book will keep you in suspense and entertained until the very last page!

This was such a fun blend of horror and romance. The mystery surrounding what actually happened with Evie’s mom and everything surrounding that really drew me in and kept me hooked.

I loved the Hollywood backdrop and all of the behind the scenes moments we got with that setting. It was interesting to see how all of those elements tied into the overall story.

It was nice getting perspectives from both main characters, Evie and Sebastian. You got a good understanding of what they both went through in the industry and why they were doing the things they were doing.

There were some things that I questioned, but not enough to keep me from enjoying the story. If you enjoy horror films, this will definitely be up your alley.

2.5/5 🌶️

I really wanted to love this one. The premise? So good. A horror romance set on a film lot, revenge plot, morally gray heroine, messy ex… it had all the ingredients.

But for me, it just didn’t land.

I kept waiting to feel hooked—like I needed to know what happened next—and that feeling never came. The pacing felt off, and I found myself more disengaged than invested. For a story built around revenge and rising tension, it just… didn’t grip me the way I expected.

Now let’s talk audiobook.

Ryder Sol (Evie) was fantastic. Her performance felt emotional, grounded, and believable—she carried the character really well.

Luke Persiani (Sebastian)… unfortunately, not so much. His delivery felt very flat, like the emotional depth just wasn’t there. And the female voices? Honestly, they pulled me completely out of the story every time. It got to the point where I was cringing instead of staying immersed.

Also—can we please retire dual narration when duet is right there?! This story needed that back-and-forth realism, especially with the dynamic between Evie and Sebastian.

Overall, this one had so much potential, but it didn’t quite deliver for me—both in story and audio execution.

Thanks to the author, their publisher, and NetGalley for the ALC.

Eeek I hate doing this as the earc was gifted to me by the publisher and author but this just wasn't for me. I liked the premise of the book but somewhere it just lost me and I was so so bored. I feel it just drug out way longer then it needed too.
The special language between our main characters was clever and I enjoyed that but the use of "Final Girl" was so over used i wanted to throw my book. And the MMC did annoy me alot.
I do think a lot of ppl will really enjoy this book, especially if you like slasher movies

Good for Her was completely chaotic, messy, violent, and honestly kind of addictive. This is not a soft romance by any means. It fully leans into the revenge, the morally grey choices, the horror vibes, and the absolute insanity of Hollywood, and I had such a fun time with it.

From the moment Evie returns to Hollywood determined to uncover the truth behind her mother’s death, I was hooked. The whole Final Girl energy mixed with slasher horror references and revenge-fueled rage made this feel so cinematic. Bodies are dropping, secrets are everywhere, and Evie is absolutely not interested in playing nice. I support women’s rage, so naturally I was SAT for her revenge era.

And then there’s Sebastian. Her ex. Her problem. Her partner in chaos. Their relationship escalates fast, but the tension between them was still entertaining as hell. These two are messy in the best way, constantly toeing the line between unresolved feelings, toxic attraction, and genuine emotional connection. Sebastian definitely frustrated me at times, but I also could not look away from him. Watching him go from Hollywood playboy to fully obsessed with Evie was honestly one of my favorite parts.

I also loved all the horror movie references sprinkled throughout the story. The “horror movie code” between them, the slasher energy, the Hollywood setting, all of it made this feel so immersive for a horror fan. It genuinely reads like a dramatic binge-worthy series where every chapter ends with another disaster waiting to happen.

That said, this book definitely goes DARK. The revenge elements can get gruesome, the characters make some wildly questionable choices, and the CNC content will absolutely not work for every reader, so please check trigger warnings beforehand. Some parts felt chaotic enough that the serial killer plot occasionally got a little lost in everything else happening, but overall I was still completely entertained.

The audiobook narration by Luke Persiani and Ryder Sol added so much to the experience too. Both narrators really captured the intensity, tension, and emotional chaos of these characters, and it made the story even easier to get pulled into.

This was my first book by Tylor Paige and it definitely will not be my last. Dark, spicy, dramatic, and just unhinged enough to keep me glued to the page.

"It does whenever it's told"“Here’s Johnny”"We have such sights to show you” Y’all! I lived for all the one-liners from various horror films! Jennifer's Body, Candyman, Silence of the lambs, It, I was fan girl squealing out loud.

Evie and Seb have history. Not only are they ex-lovers but as teens they both found mother figure (Evie’s mom, Sebs on screen mom) dead body on set.  This trauma pulled them apart as they both suffered the fall out of the cover up story. Evie has been away from Hollywood since but is making a big return with one goal….get those that got hers! The problem is she must star in Simon Says, the movie franchise that led to mother’s demise. To make matters worse, Seb is the lead man. Can she stay focused on her goal? Is this an opportunity for Evie and Seb to rekindle their old flame? Has Seb ever stopped loving her? Has someone beat her to her revenge plot?

"Can you stop waffle stomping her entrails, please?"

Plot 4.5
Spice 3.5
Overall 4.0

I ate this story up with a literal spoon. Good for Her is a slow to medium paced story that has a plot dripped in revenge. It pays homage to all the horror films that us true millennials love but it's also so much more. There is banter, mystery, found family, healing, vengeance, secrets, kinks and a splash of spice. I dare say this belongs in the dark rom-com trope amongst the greats/my favorites such as Navessa Allen’s Into Darkness series and Byrnne Weaver’s The Ruinous Love Trilogy.

If you love horror, thrillers, dark romance, good banter, second chances, and the "who done it" plot, Good For Her may be perfect for you.  Ooo and just remember….”Beep Beep, Richie."

1.5⭐️ I did not like this book at all. I went into it thinking it was a murder mystery but then it stared to take some weird turns and I realized it’s actually a dark romance, murder mystery. There were moments where I would be intrigued enough to see how the story would play out but then honestly it just got so boring and I lost interest completely. Sebastian was not likable whatsoever, his character annoyed the crap out of me and he was just all around cringey. Actually, this entire book was cringey. I was trying to listen to the audiobook with headphones while picking weeds in my front yard and the neighbors could probably see my facial expressions from a mile away.

Only gets 2 stars cause I finished it and didn't DNF it...even tho there were about 3 times where I wanted to.

The writing style was a bit lazy and all over the place. Also the use of "neuro spicey" to describe a neurodivergent person made me want to rip my eyes out.

I liked the FMC but the MMC was sketchy af and kept talking about his male appendage using the same word over and over again.

The only positives in this book were the uses of horror movie phrases and that i may be intrigued to read more dark romances.

Romance. Humor. Murder.

All of these are what make this book as great as it is. Tylor created these characters so that you would cheer them on during Evie’s revenge against those who killed her mother five years prior to her returning to Hollywood.

But she didn’t expect to find a connection to her ex-boyfriend, Sebastian, who is a heartthrob and horror movie actor. Misunderstandings and hurt feelings are mended along Evie’s way through revenge and she makes some great friends along the way with Skye, another new actress alongside Evie and Bryce, well-known as the clown killer Simon Says in the horror movies.

The way Tylor describes the actions of these characters make it so easy to imagine how Sebastian will have his hands in his pockets and would balance on his heels with a grin as if he’s innocent from the mischief he’s about to do.

5⭐️ Tylor is one of my favorite authors, so I’m so happy to have read Good For Her!

I’m so upset because I SO wanted to love this story!! It literally is everything I’ve ever wanted in a story and it was a bit of a let down to be brutally honest. The plot was so fun and exciting and I’m a sucker for a dark comedic romance and anything horror movie related so I was obsessed with the concept of a revenge plot involving the daughter of a Hollywood final girl! That being said, I both loved and cringed at all of the horror movie quoting that happened. It was a cute little code language between the main characters, however it was overused to the point where it was no longer used as witty banter and was just cringy. At first it was funny when they used “Anthony C. Hopkins!” instead of “oh my god!” But after the first several uses, and it being used EVERY time, was a bit overkill (pun intended). Same with the same damn horror references over and over. And they were all classics/big name titles that everyone would get, nothing that really showed they were true horror fanatics in Hollywood, which obviously was done to appeal to the masses but then that took away from appealing to the true horror fans in my opinion and also as two horror fanatics that literally grew up eat, sleep, and breathing horror it didn’t always feel believable to who they were set up to be.

I honestly don’t really know where to begin with this critique. I am the first person to let almost anything slide in a story and suspend my belief enough to enjoy a story even if there are major issues, however this is the first time i’ve almost DNF’d a book.

There are many more issues I had with the book but I’ll stick to the moments that pulled me out of the story so much I almost quit it.

1) The CNC poker game scene. I’m not someone who is easily triggered so I didn’t really have a problem with the inclusion of this moment as it felt fitting to expose the dark side of the industry and the rampant sexual abuse and misogyny that i’m sure is present in those spaces with the social elite. My issue comes more with how it was handled afterwards. Both characters were clearly impacted by it, and it was made to be this huge big deal, and then within 5 chapters they magically solved it all and it was never brought up again? For how big of a deal it was made to be emotionally for both characters, it just felt so wrong that they had like 1 conversation and it was fixed. In my opinion it either needed to be made less of a deal or more but the blasé resolution didn’t feel like it matched the intensity that it was presented to us with.

2) The scene where Skye KISSES Evie mid scene. Jesus H Christ I almost gave up right here. Obviously Evie’s reaction is tied to the aforementioned CNC scene, however in my opinion that isn’t made clear enough. Also WTF? I know this is Skye’s first big break but cmon! She’s not that stupid and she genuinely says “I thought we were having a moment!” Oh really? Mid scene? They’re both ACTORS PLAYING CHARACTERS WHILE FILMING A MOVIE AND IN THE MIDDLE OF A BIG FIGHT SCENE!!! I don’t even think I’d be mad if she had said she improvised it or was encouraged to by the team as the misogynistic male gaze of horror was already hammered home throughout, but seriously? It felt like an easy way out to bring up Skye’s sexuality storyline, which tbh felt forced and unnecessary, like why bring up a whole backstory for Skye about religious trauma and being queer? (i’m saying that as a queer person) I just felt as a side character who had felt very predictable from the beginning this felt disjointed, confusing and unnecessary as it didn’t add anything to the plot or overall storyline besides getting her and Sebastian to go to the club? Also going back to the kiss, SKYE AND EVIE NEVER DISCUSS IT? EVEN THOUGH EVIE CLEARLY HAD A STRONG REACTION TO IT?

3) For someone that had 5 years to plan revenge and touted having this whole plan to avenge her mother, literally 0 planning went into Evie’s waltzing back to Hollywood to MURDER 5 men who were BIGWIGS in Hollywood. I know this was supposed to play into her whole death wish thing and her wanting to go out with a bang, but the whole thing felt so ridiculous as she ropes more and more people in to help with the murders because in 5 years she’s came up with ZERO plan to make it all happen. I think out of the 6 men killed, she literally is only directly responsible for 2. Also the murders are all lame because no planning went into it. Evie Reyes wants to be like Lana from the Mindf*ck series and falls SO SHORT. she’s actually not that badass and her character felt inconsistent at best. Towards the end it’s hinted at the fact that what i’m assuming is her undiagnosed ADHD is responsible for her inability to plan and it’s like c’mon.

4) don’t get me started on the whole “PR fake dating” plot that was added for convenience. So many questions and inconsistencies.

5) there was almost TOO much social commentary thrown in to try and cover a range of different topics that it all felt like it was included just to say it was and because there was so much none of it felt fully developed or analyzed. Multiple times it’s mentioned that the movie is being made for the male gaze. The nail is hit on the head a bit too many times here and it’s like yeah we get it it’s clearly an industry that has historically profited from torture porn, the male gaze and misogyny. Then comments are made about sexual abuse and the trauma of being a survivor and struggling to deal with your body’s reaction to these events, and then the religious trauma of Skye’s upbringing and her sexuality, multiple mentions of Sebastian’s ADHD (with the only real focus being on how he drinks a ton of Red Bull to control it) and how Evie is probably undiagnosed… don’t get me wrong: ALL OF THESE CRITIQUES AND REPRESENTATION IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!!! That being said, it felt so oversaturated at times and like we were being spoon fed the social critique that it never felt like it fully developed anything because it tried to cover too much in one book and it got to a point where it felt like things were just being included to be included.

6) she’s stabbed and shot and miraculously survived without medical attention at all? As she’s described to be profusely bleeding out while Sebastian takes his sweet time finding supplies to stitch her up? Also it’s literally described so many times how Sebastian has access to Hollywood drugs and the best he has to give her is some low dose aspirin while stitching her up with a dirty paperclip and some fishing line? I’d believe it if he were an army medic or literally anything besides a privileged Hollywood actor.

7) The stakes literally never felt high. These people were idiots and got away with it all, never coming under scrutiny. You’re telling me 4 actors got away with murdering multiple high level Hollywood execs with no planning or stakes? Also, the whole part about Antoinette’s death felt so unnecessary because literally who was she? We never truly got to know her or see how close she was with Evie - we’re just told and suddenly Evie’s destroyed by her murder? It felt so unnecessary to include. And the part with Bryce just so happening to get a flat tire at the end and allowing Elliott to confront Evie? (Lamest final boss battle ever btw) I was genuinely expecting some sort of twist like Bryce was involved with Elliott somehow but no. It was just convenient. Tbh every decision and thing that happens in this book is just that - convenient. All the deaths: convenient. All the situations characters found themselves in: convenient.

The spicy scenes were SPICY and I loved those, and there were a few truly funny scenes. I loved the “Live, Laugh, Toaster Bath” and the argument about AI being worse than murder, as well as the Dexter impersonation that led them to vomiting repeatedly lol. Precious and Cujo were amazing as well haha. Also their back and forth about the line from Scream was wonderful.

It’s not often I feel so strongly pulled out from a story by the convenient/forced/impractical choices of the author, but that was done regularly in this story. I should’ve DNF’d, but my love of the horror genre got the best of me unfortunately.

*EDIT BECAUSE I ALMOST FORGOT THE WORST PART? The 3rd act “breakup”!!!!! Literally WTF? It was SO UNNECESSARY!!!! And suddenly this voicemail is mentioned that wasn’t mentioned before so clearly it’s been miscommunication from the beginning and so they have to go kill Sebastian’s old agent and we get his whole backstory? It felt so unbelievably unnecessary and random and only included last minute to improve on Sebastian’s back story depth and add an additional 50 pages.

Good For Her by Tylor Paige needs to be on your April anticipated reads list and here’s why 👀

“You talk a lot of game for someone who has no say in what I make mine.” He slid his hand up my thighs, lifting my dress, then spanked me, causing both a pinch of pain and a shiver of pleasure to come from my core. “Now bend over so I can make you c*me.” - Sebastian Shaw

🍿Hollywood Horror
🎬 Second Chance
🔪 Revenge Plot
🤡 Found Family

If you want a book with an FMC who’s an absolute babe and fully prepared to take out every slimy man on her revenge list, paired with an MMC who is down bad for his childhood crush, and balances tension, horror nostalgia, romance, and all the gory details… this is the one.

Keeping quiet about this book has genuinely been painful because it’s that good. When you finish it, please slide into my DMs because I need someone to yap about it with.

Ty did the damn thing with this book and I’m so excited for everyone to experience it.

AudioBook Review: Good for Her absolutely consumed me in the best possible way! From the very first sentence, I was completely hooked, and there was genuinely never a moment where I wanted to hit pause. I devoured this audiobook in a single day because it was THAT addictive. The storyline was phenomenal! It’s dark, twisty, emotional, revenge-filled perfection. And honestly, I need more stories like this in my life… immediately. It had everything I love: obsession, vengeance, tension, chaos, romance, and nonstop jaw-dropping moments.

Luke Persiani and Ryder Sol completely knocked their performances out of the park. Their narration brought so much raw emotion and intensity to every scene, especially the heavier moments, and it made the story feel incredibly immersive. Luke absolutely nailed the “bad boy Hollywood star” energy, while Ryder delivered the perfect balance of rage, heartbreak, and determination as a woman out for revenge. Together? Unreal chemistry. Even though this is marketed as a horror romance, it leans deeply into dark romance territory because of the themes surrounding the “6-who-shall-not-be-named.” And WOW, the chemistry between Sebastian and Evie had me absolutely feral. I’m such a sucker for the “he chases her because he’s hopelessly in love” trope, and Sebastian delivered HARD. When he offered to leave Hollywood behind for her? I was swooning. Fully. Completely. Although honestly, I couldn’t even blame Evie for pushing him away at first because realistically? I probably would’ve reacted the same way in her position.

That being said, definitely check your trigger warnings before diving in. This book is one giant, glorious revenge-fueled murder spree, complete with body-part chopping and serious serial-killer-adjacent chaos. But somehow it all felt wildly satisfying in that “they absolutely deserved it” kind of way. And honestly, Sebastian felt just as revenge driven as Evie at times. You could feel how deeply he loved her mother and how desperate he was for justice. Also, can we talk about his first Agent for a sec? The SECOND she started controlling his eating habits, I knew she was bad news. So when everything finally came crashing down for her at the end? I was grinning. Justice served. But surprisingly, Skye ended up being the absolute MVP for me. At first, I was convinced she was going to betray them, but watching her completely flip the script and become the mastermind behind the operation was ICONIC. The pool party scene? Amazing. I will never not laugh as hard as I did when they called it “death-by-margarita”. Seeing her drop the “ditsy blonde” act and reveal she was actually the smartest person in the room instantly made her my favorite character.

I was genuinely sad when this audiobook ended because I wasn’t ready to leave these characters or this insane storyline behind. The ending felt absolutely perfect while still leaving me with so many questions living rent-free in my head. Like… if Evil Daddy hadn’t left that gun sitting on the table, would he have actually tried to be civil with Evie? Can you really reconnect with your daughter after murdering her mother and watching her eliminate all your friends? We’ll never know—but WOW, what a wild, unforgettable, death-by-pool-cover ride that was… if you know what I mean LOL. I would recommend this 10x over. If you love dark, messy, revenge-filled stories with incredible tension, emotional performances, and the ultimate “good for her” energy wrapped up in a bloody little bow, this audiobook is a MUST.

Rated: 5 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

happiest release day to @tylorpaige_author! and thank you to netgalley and victory editing for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!

4.5 🔪

i had good for her on my radar for a while, so i went in already excited. and the moment i saw the mmc’s name was SEBASTIAN, it was over for me. i don’t make the rules. something about a sebastian in a book just hits every time istg!

this story really commits to its premise and doesn’t try to water anything down. evie comes back to hollywood with a plan, and the book lets her be exactly who she needs to be to carry that out. there’s grief under everything she does, but it never slows her down, it fuels her. i loved that she wasn’t softened or made easier to digest. she makes choices, stands in them, and keeps moving.

as for Sebastian, HE is exactly who he thinks he is. he is the kind of problem you want him to be. their history is messy in that way where you know neither of them ever really got over it, and now they’re forced right back into each other’s orbit. every interaction felt loaded, not just with attraction but with everything they never said and everything they still won’t say.

the hollywood setting added so much for me. everything looks polished on the outside, but underneath it’s all ego, secrets, and people protecting themselves at all costs. it made the whole revenge angle feel even more satisfying because of who she’s going after and where it’s all happening.

i also just had a really good time reading this. it’s the kind of book that keeps you locked in because you need to see how far things will go and who’s going to crack first. and the romance worked for me because it didn’t try to clean anything up. it let these two be complicated and still find their way back to each other in their own way.

as someone who reads a lot of slasher romance, this book was just such a fun, addictive read for me! it gave me exactly what i wanted!! can’t wait for the second book!! 🖤

tropes: 💔 second chance • 🩸 revenge plot • 🎬 hollywood setting • 🔥 forced proximity • 🖤 morally gray love interest • 🔪 feminine rage/final girl

This book took me so long to get into, but I found it pretty enjoyable. I don’t think enjoyable is really a word used to describe a horror romance but I genuinely can’t think of anything else. Beep, beep Ritchie.

The tropes are pretty standard, second chance, revenge, Hollywood stars an honestly? I love them. There’s so hard hitting topics in this book so do check your trigger warnings.

All Evie wants is revenge against the men who murdered her mother. All Sebastian wants is his final girl, back in his life - forever. I will say this book wasn’t really twistie and turny and followed a pretty clear plot pattern, so if you want something easy to read and lower in need to think - good for her is a great read.

The horror movie/slasher movie quotes throughout was great - I really liked how that was incorporated. Will I read this again? Probably not, but it was good while it lasted.

(Also I had no idea horror romance was a genre till I read this book - have I been under a rock? I need more recs in this bracket! I would have just called this a dark romanc).

I will never not recommend Good For Her by Tylor Paige! It very quickly became a 5 star read, in the end it became a god tier book for me. This book hooked me from the very beginning and kept me hooked the whole book. Tylor did such a great job with all of the plot twists being surprising and each one had my jaw dropping. The characters were written so well, the ones you were meant to love, you love, and the ones you’re supposed to hate, you hate. That being said Tylor wrote the emotion in this story so well that you can literally feel everyone’s emotions coming right off of the page. One of my favorite things about this book is all of the horror pop culture references. Being a horror fan it was super fun knowing where everything came from. Overall, this book was a whole experience, and I loved it. I think that this book is my favorite read of the year so far. I think that any horror fan needs to read this book. “It does this whenever it’s told”

Finn Wolfhard might as well star in this book as many times as “beep beep richie” was said outloud .

This was a very hard read for me, one of the main reasons being its wayyyyy more sexual than i anticipated and i got the audiobook . I can’t play that outloud in my house it’s just not happened , so i had to do headphones . I was never in the mood to read this i just needed to because i wanted to finish the story.

This was *not* a story about revenge or really focused on the mystery . A very very large chunk of the book is just smut . and not good smut :/

I didn’t like the narration, though it’s not terrible . The voices felt off to me and i didn’t like the pacing . This may just come down to the story itself and my failure to connect.

I thought the ending completely missed the vibe the story was trying to create and the kills were very unrealistic the more the story went on. but oh well.

I love a good slasher read, and Good For Her definitely satisfies my need!

A second chance romance, morally grey FMC, feminine rage and REVENGE! This final girl gone rogue read was absolutely fantastic! I loved the Easter eggs throughout the book and the nostalgia from a horror movie loving babe like myself was completely warm and fuzzy to see them. The characters were well written and I loved the dynamics between them, especially Evie and Sebastian. The plot unfolded in perfect timing and I was easily turning the pages to keep reading. Things definitely a new favorite slasher read, and I am so excited to read more from Tylor Paige!

Read as an ARC from NetGalley

Wow this Whorror book really had me HOOKED. I loved all of the horror movie references and every single character felt real to me. I couldn’t put it down.

I don’t know why but it took me a while to pick this one up but when I did? There was no stopping me. Was the perfect blend of horror and romance for me, I felt that each genre was hit with accuracy and we really got the taste of both.

Yes some scenes really were quite hard to swallow (as other people have DNF’d) but that is what horror is and I think that if Tylor has written something so well it put you off then she has done a DAMN good job.

Yes yes yes

When Evie’s mom is found dead on the Simon Says movie set, Evie immediately suspects foul play. But what is a young, teenage girl to do? Research and formulate, of course.

Evie returns to Hollywood 5 years later to get revenge on the men she suspects were behind her mother’s demise by taking a role in the movie series her mother once starred in.

This was a fun nod to classic horror/slasher movies. I loved the quotes and banter between the main characters. But I’d expect nothing less from Ty Paige.
