I’ll Prey For You is a violent, disturbing deep dive into trauma with no safety net.
This is no redemption arc. It’s a ritual—of blood, rage, and memory.
The monsters who tore her apart still bare their teeth in her nightmares. But she’s not dreaming anymore. She’s hunting them down—and this time, they don’t get far.
This isn’t healing. This is a world where healing was never offered. She finds power in becoming the predator.
Every word drips with the truth they tried to silence. She prays for nothing. She preys for them. One. By. One.
Content Warning: This novel contains graphic violence and disturbing content. Intended for mature readers who seek extreme horror, splatterpunk, and unfiltered female rage.

Congratulations on Sierra Waff for her debut novel! Now, the highlight for me here was the style of writing. The vivid details, the intensity of the words and statements, the visceral experiences, and some of the content, zooming out, was all quite enjoyable. Where this faltered for me was how one-note everything became. Morrigan capturing a former predator, torturing them, and repeating this process repeatedly. And that was a very strong majority of the story. Our lead was very dynamic, and I wanted to do a tremendously deep dive into her trauma and psyche. But it never quite got there. I feel like this should have been the majority of the content, as opposed to the focus on body horror. It all needed more context and time to simmer with the reader to have its desired effect. However, this was still a strong showing from a new author. My first book was far from perfect and I can't recall anyone having a picture perfect first outing with their writing. You practice and learn and hone in on your skills as you continue your literary journey. Sierra Waff will do just that and, as all of us horror enthusiasts follow her, I guarantee you that her offerings will go from good to great in a rather short period. I wish her the best of luck and can't wait to see what she comes up with next!
Morrigan has suffered the majority of her life at the hands of evil men. She becomes a hunter and captures them. She takes the revenge she desperately wants and has fun with it.
This had a lot of potential but unfortunately fell flat for me. In the very beginning, we get a brief understanding of her abuse and right away we get into the capturing. There wasn't much context about the men right away so I was questioning things like "What did he do?" "How did he do it?" "Was this one worse than the other one?" It took me out of the story a lot.
The flashbacks at times were a bit confusing to me in the way they were written. You could feel Morrigan's pain throughout the story and that was well done. The revenge was sweet. I'm interested in seeing what this author does with her next book.
For Sierra's debut novel this was absolutely mind blowing, violent and disturbing. It was so well written...gruesome,bloody and extremely powerful. Full on torture scenes that had me begging for mercy. The storyline and the characters were well developed through out the chapters of the book. This book was written to shock...and make you want to throw up 🤢🤮 I'd love to see a prequel written letting us into the childhood of Morrigan and more on the background of her mother, molesters and abusers.
If Sierra Waff carries on writing with this kind of passion then she's on her way to becoming a top extreme horror author.
Extremely well written Short and to the point like a honed blade. A female on the hunt for people who hurt her so she can repay the favor. Loved her father's 'house' setting. Perfect setup for this type of thing. Trauma refocused into brutal torture. That's basically the story with creative bits added in and flashbacks and nightmares of PTSD. Short and not sweet. Just how I like my books
3.5 stars. A solid debut! Sierra is only going to shine brighter as she continues her writing career. I had a fun time with Morrigan and my favorite scene was one with Topher 😏 Full review to come in Scream Horror Magazine.
This is Sierra's debut novel, and she did so with force. I'll Prey For You is a story about feminine rage and revenge, a build-up of lifelong abuse and misuse. Of being gaslighted and neglected.
Out of those ingredients rose Morrigan, a now fierce young woman, set on taking back her life and her dreams, which had been polluted by fear and nightmares for too long.
Her father left her a zoo compound, abandoned, but the perfect premises for her plan. Revenge on all her tormentors by doubling down on what they once did to her.
I would have loved to learn more about Morrigan's past, and I hope Sierra might revisit this story with a prequel.
I rarely write reviews directly after reading as I need a minute to process what I read. Talk it out with my saint of a husband who listens like the words coming from my mouth give him life…but for this one it’s an easy 5 star.
Female rage and revenge deliciously written and wrapped up in a debut book! Yes please! The writing style draws you in immediately wanting more information. Needing to know what happens. The revenge was well thought out from character Morrigan and she delivered!
This book was one of the best I’ve read in a long time when it comes to feminine revenge.
The writing style was unique and a breath of fresh air. I didn’t find it hard to read or understand and quite enjoyed the way it was written.
Sierra’s imagery was very descriptive, leaving nothing to the imagination. Some scenes had me absolutely gagging, grateful I wasn’t in the receiving end of Morrigan’s wrath.
Parts of this book were incredibly hard to read in an emotional sense but to me that added more life and character to the book. It added a different aspect I don’t often see in splatterpunk books. Reading about Morrigan’s past really churned my stomach and made my heart ache for the young girl that went through it.
If you love a good bloody, gore soaked feminine revenge, I highly recommend this one. Sierra absolutely knocked it out of the park 👌🏻
I had a blast with this one. I'LL PREY FOR YOU is fast, brutal, and intense. I'm looking forward to reading more by Waff. Highly recommended to fans of the extreme!
this debut splatter pump novel from Sierra Waff was absolutely incredible. not just a story of revenge and vengeance but a tale of purpose and healing and no longer being prey to the evils of humanity. I really enjoyed the structure of how this story was told , it is very meticulous, especially in the first part of the book. it directs you what you're about to get into and I enjoyed every second of it! the second half when you start getting into the thick of things, the story becomes real brutal and definitely you start to see the reasonings why our character is so hell-bent on getting this vengeance and the ending went to a place I didn't know it was going to. I really enjoy how it wraps up the story
this is a great methodical and well-structured tale of revenge with a strong badass female lead And shows the real life challenges that women have to deal with. I enjoy the hell out of this book
This is revenge with so many teeth! I loved this book and the protagonist arc, reborn from victim into a fierceless agent of her life!
Whilst the story is powerful and the imagery is unforgettable, I think the way it was narrated matched perfectly the atmosphere and it conveyed well the sense of being preyed on and hunted down. Whilst the extreme scenes are truly extreme, making me flinch and having to pause and sigh, I feel that without them the feeling of revenge wouldn’t have been the same.
The protagonist feels authentic and relatable, and I’m honestly so amazed by her strength in the face of everything she had to endure. I was also pleasantly surprised by the fact that she’s vegan and my cruelty free heart made so many leaps of contentment, feeling even closer to her. This of course doesn’t apply to humans, which will suffer in unimaginable ways. The concept was really cool and I loved the metaphors of the various animals, which made the story more original compared to other revenge tales.
If you love a brutal revenge tale with a foreboding atmosphere throughout, then this one is it. Please check your triggers as this is full of very violent scenes.
I’m so happy I had the opportunity to read this author through a gifted audiobook and this is my honest opinion.
“And finally, to the predators who harmed me: I can’t make you bleed without a prison sentence, so I’ll do it in print. I hope you fucking choke.”
This line right here was so sick in the best way. It set the book off and it set the tone. This book is about a woman named Morrigan who has decided to get revenge on people in her life who have harmed her.
She begins to acquire all of her abusers and brings them all to the same place. Morrigan has built herself a little zoo of sorts. Each person represents a different animal from her dreams and she treats them as such. ANIMALS.
She begins her road to revenge in such a lovely way for anyone who’s ever wanted to get revenge on someone but obviously can’t. This is why I fucking love revenge books and movie so much. You can live vicariously through them. And boy did I.
Sierra better give us a sequel, prequel and plenty more books she has a specific writing style that I personally liked. I will be reading WHATEVER she puts out. Go read this book the minute it comes out!!!
The narrative is grueling, gripping, dark, and addictive. My chest felt heavy as the protagonist walked readers through retribution and rage. It made me think about people that are close to me who have their stories of abuse, and how so many terrible people go practically their whole lives without consequence at the severe detriment of their victims. Nobody should be able to abuse another being and just walk free; that’s monstrous. While morally ambiguous, I was satisfied the narrative allowed the protagonist retribution in all its splatterpunk glory.
The narration for the audiobook was monotonous after a few chapters; Awkward cadence and minimal emphasis. There was also a consistent reverb/echo issue with the mic throughout the entire book, where every time the narrator paused then spoke again it would sound like a distant beep overlaying the speech. It went from slightly annoying to aggravating after a few chapters. I tried multiple headphones to ensure it wasn’t an issue on my end. I listened to the entire audiobook in one sitting. Overall a great novella but I’d read the physical/ebook instead next time.
Sierra Waff provided me with an early copy of I’ll Prey for You in exchange for my honest opinion.
I’ll Prey for You is a revenge story with an interesting concept but it’s being held by inconsistent pacing, structural issues, and a lack of character development. In the first 8 chapters, it feels like we’re dropped in the middle of a fast paced kidnapping story that’s already in progress. Then slows to a crawl around chapter 12.
There are times in the novel where we are being told that we are about to enter and end a flashback, which are elements typically found in script rather than a novel. This may not seem like much of an issue, but it’s a bit jarring and pulls me out of the narrative. For example, in chapter 24 it’s written, “Flashback to the Day Before Kindergarten,” and it ends with “End of Flashback.”
We don’t really know much about the characters other than what they’ve done and what Morrigan experienced. We aren’t given an opportunity to build a connection her. I want to know more about Morrigan and Colby. What’s the nature of their relationship? Who are they as individuals?
Overall, I’ll Prey for You is a great foundation for a story that can be much deeper and provide the reader with more of an emotional impact.
I love a good revenge story, and this one is smart, intense, and so satisfying.
Morrigan has faced some real predators in her life, and they helped shape her into the strong woman she is now. And now she’s ready to make them pay.
And Morrigan’s got an entire zoo compound at her disposal to do it.
This redhead is about to turn the tables, turning once-powerful beasts into helpless animals begging for mercy. And it’s bloody satisfying!
This is Sierra’s debut novel, and let me tell you… it’s absolutely insane in the best way.
The first half feels like a TV show, with each chapter being almost an episode focusing on a different predator and building up the tension.
The second half is all about the plan coming to life and it hits hard. This book moves fast, has short chapters, and delivers all the gore and graphic scenes you’d expect from a splatterpunk story.
I’ll Prey For You drops on Friday the 13th and is already available for pre-order—and it’s a big yes from me!
This book had me on the edge of my seat. The way it's written made it easy to follow and you could feel the raw emotion the more you read. You can feel the feminine rage and satisfaction of the main characters revenge for the people who wronged her in her life. Getting a little taste of The back story, makes you NEEDING to know more. I can not wait to see more of Sierra and this was a great debut book!
“I’ll Prey for You” by Sierra Waff is a dark, disturbing, and violent tale of vengeance where the prey becomes the predator. I was absolutely hooked from the very beginning. It’s a gripping story that doesn’t shy away from uncomfortable truths about abuse and retribution. I listened to the Audible version, which was very good overall, though at times the narrator’s tone felt a bit flat. Still, it was a powerful and memorable story.
I’ll Prey For You by Sierra Waff 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 This is a beautifully written story of trauma, pain, rage and revenge!! It has a deep, dark and disturbing storyline. Which is fantastic!
Morrigan has had a very traumatic and difficult life and she’s ready to make others pay. I could feel her emotion and raw pain, as she’s ready for a change.
I listened to the audio version and the narrator did an excellent job! It’s a quick read/listen and I was completely sucked in. This is an amazing debut novel! It definitely has parts that are extreme, gory and shocking! I’m exciting for Sierra Waff’s next book to come out in a few months!
I’ve never read anything by this author before now… and to be honest I still haven’t as I listened to this on audiobook.
I do enjoy a good revenge story. Actually I LOVE a good revenge story, and I think we have one here…
This is a book about a damaged woman, a woman who has been pushed to the limit all her life, and has now finally cracked.
She is out for revenge and everyone who has hurt her in her past is open game.
The revenge is excellent; and the methods, and the cool, calm way of dispatch is worth the read.
This book is a great debut.
Onto the narration.
This has been done in a very stylised format. The narrator has a very ‘sing-song’ method of delivery, and is very lulling. She reads it in a way that makes it feel like she is reading poetry. It’s beautiful, especially the kill scenes that are cool, calm, and collected.
Overall this is a well deserved 4 out of 5 stars for me… expect great stuff from this author.
Ok, here I am a couple of hours later for a formal review.
This story will grab you by balls (male or female, lol), bring you to our main character's face and she will scream with all the feminine rage we have all been holding back since the dawn of time.
There's no time to breathe until she says so. All because for once it was on her terms. For the first time in her life she had complete control. I wouldn't even view it as a decent into madness vs taking her life back.
The reason I had to sit back and think about this review is because it's obviously personal. The author has no shame in admitting it and she is so strong in doing so. I felt her pain, her sorrow but most of her her unrelenting RAGE.
The surprising part is I wasn't like "good for her" for our main character but my heart hoped the author got closure from writing this amazing book and I admire her for it.
Loved the idea of a horrible and decrepit zoo! Nothing like getting revenge by treating the monsters like the dirty animals they are. Best part.. is what she feeds them. Great job Sierra!
The fact that this is Sierra debut novel is actually wild. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The retribution dolled out in this book was just glorious and everything I wish I could do in real life. Its always so cathartic to read these things play out and the imaginative ways that karma is handed out was perfection. Morrigan is delightful and I would for sure pick her to be my real life bestie!!
Very impressive first book, certainly better than anything I could produce. With a bit of spit & polish, moulding & trimming, Sierra shows every bit of potential of being a heavy-hitter in the genre.
Some books are not just books. I’ll Prey For You is a scream, a wail, of pain, anger, and rage at the injustices this world can inflict on a person. It was really interesting because I think people will be disgusted and horrified at the things Morrigan does in this book, and it is EXTREME, but I found myself far more disgusted by what had happened to Morrigan leading up to her revenge. This book is not just vengeance, it’s an exorcism of a heartbreaking life filled with the most abhorrent abuses and taking back the power all of the abusers tried to steal.
Sierra Waff has created a symphony of revenge and the zoo setting is absolutely brilliant. It’s grotesque and at times nauseating but one of the problems I have sometimes with extreme horror is that it is so often directed towards innocent people for no reason other than to delight in violence and suffering. These people suffer for a reason and it made the book such a different experience than any other extreme horror I’ve read. Waff doesn’t shy away from the emotional and physical price that Morrigan’s vengeance costs to herself either. This is a remarkable debut and Waff is undoubtedly an author to watch in this sub-genre.
If you are prepared and ready, this is a book you need to read.
"I’ll Prey for You" is an astonishing debut novel from Sierra Waff. In this story, we follow Morrigan, constantly reliving her trauma through her nightmares. The men who abused her when she was young, and her mother who let it happen, stole her childhood from her. So she hatches a plan for revenge. Lucky for her, she’s got an abandoned zoo at her disposal. That's right, Morrigan is turning the tables on her abusers. The predators become her prey!
This is one bloody good feminine rage tale that sinks its teeth into you from the very get go. It’s extreme, it’s brutal, it’s unflinching, and it is oh so satisfying. Sierra bleeds her heart and soul into each and every page and really develops the connection between us readers and Morrigan’s character.
Did I mention yet how well written this book is? Sierra’s prose is excellent and her writing had me hooked from the very beginning. If this is her debut, I can’t wait to read what else she has in store for us in the future. A sequel perhaps? Either way, this is one author y’all need to keep an eye on.
Sierra Waff’s debut Splatterpunk novella, I'll Prey For You, is a brutal story of revenge, trauma, and unrelenting feminine rage. Were introduced to Morrigan—a woman shaped by a lifetime of abuse and abandonment, who finally seizes control in the most visceral way imaginable.
Morrigan's journey from prey to predator is both harrowing and empowering. Raised in a home devoid of protection and subjected to horrific abuse, she reclaims her power by turning the tables on the monsters from her past—literally housing them in her own personal zoo. Equal parts disturbing and satisfying, a bloody reckoning that doesn’t shy away from the darkness it confronts.
You can feel the heart, pain, and fury in every page. This isn’t just a horror story—it’s a scream of defiance and survival.
I’m eagerly hoping for both a prequel and sequel—there’s so much more I want to know about Morrigan’s past and future. I'll Prey For You is not for the faint of heart, but for those who appreciate Splatterpunk with purpose, it's a must-read.
I’ll Prey for You by Sierra Waff is a brutal, dark psychological horror debut with light Splatterpunk elements. We follow Morrigan as she exacts revenge on those who broke her—starting with her own mother. The first half builds her disturbing backstory, while the second half descends into blood-soaked chaos.
This is not a redemption arc. It’s about feminine rage, control, and becoming the predator. The prose is haunting, and the imagery sticks with you. Not for sensitive readers — but perfect for those who crave twisted, cathartic horror.
I’m excited to see how much darker Sierra Waff gets from here. A solid debut with bite.
⚠️ Trigger Warnings: Includes themes of abuse, gore, violence, and trauma. Not suitable for sensitive readers.
Sierra has come into the horror scene with such ferocity with this debut novella of hers. Feminine rage? Check. Violence? Check. Set up in a way that begs for a sequel and a prequel? CHECK.
She gave us *just enough* in this novella and I can’t wait to see what she does with future works. (Hopefully longer?) Her writing is poetic at times and you can feel the pain. So many of us have a Morrigan inside and can relate to her struggles, need for revenge and the release of her pain.
This is a fun read. It’s fast-paced with the “set up” for the first half and then you dive off of a deep cliff into the violence that makes splatterpunk so fun.
I hope she gives us a longer novel now with a back story and Morrigan’s, um, future endeavors. :)
To start with, if you can’t handle gore or shock style of writing then you might want to read with caution. That being said, this is a revenge story where Morrigan sets out on her mission of torture and terror. Sierra Waff writes a compelling, strong female character that rains down her own type of revenge on those that hurt her. The story is deep and emotional yet paced just right between the story and the gore making it all fit together perfectly. The way it ends leaves me hoping this isn’t the last of Morrigan as she is a well written character that goes hand in hand with a well crafted story. This is Sierra’s first novella and I hope we get to read more of her work in the future.
