The Painted Sinners Duet #1

White Rose Painted Red: The Painted Sinners Duet, Book 1

Rate this book
My fresh start is finally around the corner—but so is the man standing in the middle of the f*cking road.

He could’ve died when I hit him, and his two friends are downright furious. But instead of pressing charges, they offer me a work for them for six months, and they’ll let it go.

Their secluded mountain estate is vast and beautiful. Full of stolen artifacts and dark secrets.

Atticus, Elijah, and Seven might be equally alluring, but they’re also damaged and dangerous—driven by a thirst for revenge they say I can help satisfy.

Only now that they have me, they don’t seem to want to let me go. And it’s not one-sided.

Before long, their vengeance becomes my own, and I begin to understand that even if helping them claims my life, it’s too late to turn back now.

I can’t guard a heart they’ve already stolen.

White Rose Painted Red is a dark romance full of kindle-melting chemistry and possessive, damaged men who will do whatever it takes to get the revenge they crave and keep the girl they never meant to fall for.

*This book contains themes and scenes that may be disturbing to some listeners.

Adding this to my 6⭐️ bangers immediately.

There is absolutely nothing better than stumbling across a random book on Hoopla, never heard a damn thing about it and it ends up becoming one of your new absolute favorites. I hit the jackpot with this full-cast, why-choose audiobook.

This story grabbed me instantly. The FMC is running from an abusive relationship, and she’s on the run with her dog which somehow made the whole thing 10 times better.

And then it starts with her literally hitting one of the MMCs with her car. Okay, meet cute!!! 🤭🤭 So you can imagine her surprise when they turn around and offer her a job.

I should’ve known I was gonna love this because it has all the fixings of my perfect book. Each MMC brings something completely different to the table, and that is always peak why-choose to me. They all feel so distinct, but there’s something about each one that I absolutely loved. I love when the MMC‘s all flow really nicely together in a WC.

I was actually drooling over how hot this book was, and you don’t even have to wait long for it. I wouldn’t call it fast burn, the pacing was honestly perfect. I loved how each relationship developed at its own speed. Some more than others, obviously, because there’s always that one stubborn man who refuses to give in… and he’s usually my favorite.

There’s also this whole layer of mystery you really don’t know what these men do. They’re living in this massive mansion, clearly loaded, clearly hiding things, and there are even a few secrets (and maybe a touch of betrayal👀👀👀👀) simmering under the surface. The way it all unfolded was so damn addictive I wanted to throw every real-life responsibility straight out the window just so I could listen nonstop.

I have to say, the plot completely blindsided me. One minute I’m kicking my feet, having the best time, and the next I’m on a motherfucking heist?? Like…..how did we get here, and why do I love it so much?

I was not expecting action, adventure, and a full-on shootout, but I got all that and more. Aurora clearly has no idea what she’s stepped into, but she fits this life so well.

I loved the backstory. I loved the history between the three MMCs. And whatever we’re building toward in book two? It’s going to be fucking epic and I hope it comes with a shit ton of groveling 😮‍💨👏🏻

If you’re looking for a spicy why-choose with a super solid plot, a touch of humor, amazing characters you’re absolutely going to fall in love with (I know I did), a badass FMC who has her dog as her little sidekick (and yes, all the MMCs fall in love with the dog too my heart MELTED because nothing is hotter than a man who loves animals), plus a plot that suddenly turns into an action movie in the best way possible, I NEED YALL TO RUNNNNN.

It’s gonna grab you from the very beginning and I promise you it is not gonna let you go until the very end, there is not one dull moment.

The cast on this audiobook was incredible, and this has easily become one of my favorite reads of the entire year. I’m obsessed.

White Rose Painted Red? More like White Rose Set Me On Fire and Left Me Screaming Into the Void.

Let me be clear: I did not read this book—I was kidnapped by it, held hostage by the plot, seduced by morally gray men, and released only when I promised to beg for Book Two on my hands and knees. Which I am doing. Right now. Please, Ms. Lawson. I am not okay.

First of all, let’s talk about Aurora. This woman ran over a man and still managed to bag three emotionally unstable Greek god lookalikes with criminal records. Queen behavior. Her strength? Next-level. Her growth arc? Michelin-starred. Her relationship with her dog Ellie? I would die for it. And the kitchen scene with Seven? I had to pause and make myself a cup of tea.

And SEVEN. Oh sweet psychological menace with golden retriever energy. You are chaos in combat boots and I love you. If you looked at me the way you look at Aurora, I’d sign a maid contract too. I don’t clean, but I’d learn.

Elijah is the cinnamon roll that holds the group chat together. Atticus is a controlling menace who buys gifts for the dog and insults you in a British accent (probably). Together? Delectable chaos. This is the holy trinity of reverse harem. God is busy—these three will take your prayers now.

The plot? Wild. There’s trauma, intrigue, a possibly unhinged murder plot, a woman trying to reclaim her identity, and THREE emotionally compromised men in one house. It’s like The Bachelor meets John Wick but make it ✨horny and healing✨.

Yes, some of it makes no real-world sense. Yes, she moved in with three random men she just met in the woods after running one of them over. But you know what? I don't question fate. Or hot men with tragic backstories.

This book ends on a cliffhanger and I am now a shell of a human, wandering aimlessly and whispering “Book two… please…” into the wind.
10/10. Would sell my soul for an ARC of the sequel.

This was phenomenal. What a unique and refreshing story! I was completely wrong as far as what I was expecting from the synopsis, but this was totally ok! This was exciting from the very beginning and I immediately liked Aurora, Seven, and Eli. Atticus will take some effort 😆.

I don't want to really share anything about this story except that if you're into a dark (a bit) contemporary RHs with a revenge plot, I'd highly recommend giving this a read. I can't wait for the second part of this story to be released and hope that it's really long. There's so much yet to cover but I just love these characters.

I will also add, thanks to this book, I have a new band to listen to: Sleep Token
Currently loving Jaws!

OH MY DARK ROMANCE! I’m talkin’ SPICEY 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

“This man killed for me. He walked right into my nightmare and murdered my demon.” …. Talk about dark and dreamy. I couldn’t put this book down! Literally read this in 3 days. Suspenseful, adventure, murder, love, romance, and mystery. I mean really what more can you ask for in a book.

Highly recommend you read this book! I want more and I cannot wait until book 2 comes out. This is my first book by Elena Lawson and I’m already wanting more.

Fml I loved this book SO much. I’ve not seen anyone speak about it yet and I just happened to stumble across it on Goodreads and boy am I glad I did! The plot, the characters, the instant hook (quite literally page 1), the spice, the backstory, the suspense, the twists… this was my kind of book 🙂‍↕️

👩🏻 𝗔𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗿𝗮 - our badass FMC, so proud of her for getting away from her disgusting ex. I loved her character more every time I turned a page. She surprised me in the best way - I can’t wait to see her character develop even more in book 2!

👨🏻 𝗦𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 - psycho golden retriever, I’m in love with this man and wish it was me who ran him over. Hilarious, obsessed, sweet, protective, but also absolutely unhinged… so basically perfection.

🧑🏻 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝗷𝗮𝗵 - broken boy (my favourite kind of MMC) ugh I wanted to dive into the book and cuddle him. He’s been through so much, he’s a sweetheart, has a pierced 🍆 and is down bad for Aurora. I adore him and cannot wait for him to get the revenge he deserves in book 2 (I hope)

🧔🏼‍♂️ 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘂𝘀 - ummmm listen, this man is so protective of his ‘brothers’ and I love him for that, he also gave green flag energy when he took care of Ellie 🐶 but he needs to redeem himself (for me personally). My least favourite of the 3 men, possibly because he had long blonde hair lol (sorry) but also because I didn’t like how he handled a fair few situations. Hopefully I can love him in book 2

🐶 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 - what a good girl, we better get more of her in the next book!

I WANTED IT TO BE LONGER AND I NEED THE SECOND BOOK IMMEDIATELY, WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL 2026?

Okay no but seriously, I quite literally have nothing negative to say. The only reason I’m not rating it a 5 star is because I do need a slight redemption for Daddicus, I didn’t enjoy him. Don’t get me wrong, I understood why he did the things he did, but I absolutely adore Seven and Elijah but didn’t get there with him, so hopefully book 2 I will 🤞🏻

I read and loved Elena Lawson’s Boys of Briar Hall series, so after seeing some great reviews from my Goodreads friends and the author’s posted teasers on Instagram, I have been really excited to read this book. I’m so glad the story did not disappoint! 💜

It has a good blend of humor, smut, and action, plus it wasn't as dark as I expected. All the characters have difficult pasts that they’ve learned to handle differently. Seven is the psycho golden retriever, Elijah is the kind but broken guy, Atticus is the responsible but paranoid leader, and Aurora is the damaged but secretly badass FMC. What I loved most about this story is the brotherhood between the MMCs and how Aurora slowly fit into the group. Not a lot of soft, swoon-worthy moments, but there’s plenty of intimacy and some humor.

💞 THE MCs
Is wrong really wrong if it feels this right?

Aurora — I loved Aurora because she was a surprise. At first, I thought she would be a meek, soft FMC running from an abusive ex, but she showed some sass early on, and when it mattered most, she revealed some skills that only made her perfect for the guys. I love FMCs who are mentally strong and capable despite having suffered abuse/trauma in the past.

This is my altar. Right here, on my knees with my c*ck inside of her, I submit to the religion of Aurora Bellerose.

Seven — The psycho. OMG Seven! 😍 *girly squeal* He’s my favorite out of the three. Aside from the hotness overload and his flirty, psycho personality, I loved that he’s the first to get to know Aurora. He literally fought her “demon” after promising that the guy would not be able to hurt her anymore.

She does fit. Better than I ever dreamed. And I did dream. From the first night Atticus brought her in, she’s starred in nearly every one of them.

Elijah — The nice guy. He grew up with parents who loved him and adopted the other guys into the family, but after what happened to his parents and what he went through to try to make it better, he’s become emotionally volatile atm. I loved how kind he’s been to Aurora from the start and how they drew comfort from each other.

Atticus — The leader. Atty doesn’t have a quote because he doesn’t deserve it. Lol jk. But seriously, I am still pissed. He’s the acting leader/planner who’s anal, paranoid, and distrustful. He’s the one who wants to use Aurora from the start, and I kinda hate that that did not change even by the end of the book. He’s not a bad guy because his main purpose is to protect his brothers, but he tends to do things despite knowing it will hurt others. He needs some serious groveling in the next book.

😍 WHAT I LOVED
💜 The cover with the word “Rose” literally painted red
💜 The chapter titles
💜 The banter
💜 The whole adventure after the art gallery
💜 Chapter 17. Lucky Number Seven 🥵
💜 Chapter 33. Wingardium Apadravya + Chapter 34. Mile High Club 🥵
💜 Chapter 46. Fuck it + Chapter 47. Push and Pull 🥵

There’s still dirt on his cheek. The blood of my enemy splattered along the triple seven tattoo on his neck. And fuck if he isn’t the most beautiful monster I’ve ever seen.

Holy shit! Holy shit! I was NOT prepared for that ending!

Elena and Blake pulled out all the stops with this book. I loved Elena’s Boys of Briar Hall series and am so glad her muse pushed this story. It had me tight in its grip from the first chapter and pulled me right through to the last page.

Loved Seven! The psychos always make my black heart melt. Eli was a sweet golden retriever, also super easy to love. Atticus can fuck right off a cliff. That would make me happy.

This is a mixed-burn and spicy why choose romance. It is the first in a series and ends in a cliffhanger.

⚠️There are some incredibly dark themes and moments in this book, so please check out the TW before reading.

Thanks to Elena and Blake Lawson for the early review copy.

I love when I stumble upon a hidden gem that completely exceeds my expectations💎.

I genuinely did not expect this book to turn into the beginning of a reverse harem story..and now I’m absolutely convinced that the next book is going to be HOT🔥 🥵. The tension, the setup, the slow burn… everything is perfectly positioned to EXPLODE in the sequel ❤️‍🔥.

What really impressed me, though, was how well this book handled the build-up. It laid such a strong foundation for some serious groveling in the next installment, and now I’m just sitting here desperately waiting for March to arrive.

This wasn’t just a great romance, the plot outside of the romance was genuinely engaging and well thought out. The story had depth, momentum, and enough intrigue to keep me hooked beyond the relationships alone.
All in all, this book surprised me in the best way possible, and I’m officially invested. If the next book delivers on the groveling and heat it’s clearly setting up… I’m not going to survive it 🔥🔥🥵

Danger, doubts and deviant men….🖤
Lots of solid tropes in this one - “who hurt you” ; “found family”; “save you, save me” all combined for a captivating morally grey romance.
The attraction between Aurora and her men varies as well - there’s instant attraction to a love/hate relationship, giving a good range of love stories to follow 😍 the men are delectable in their own ways - Seven is the psycho puppy dog; Elijah the emotional artist with baggage; Atticus the daddy alpha hole and his own worst enemy! 😣 they’re an eclectic bunch but the more you learn of their character, backstories and what they do for our girl you can’t help but fall for them too….or actually in some cases make them fall 🔪 🙈 Aurora is a badbutt FMC whose had a crappy life, at first she comes across quite meek but there’s a fire raging underneath and you see her really grow into herself 👑
Although a standard vengeance/revenge plot it’s interesting with the art element and why they plan to use Aurora giving it a different twist - the pacing is good with a balance between the story, characters and spice - oh the spice 🌶️ the heat between these guys is 🔥
Very much looking forward to the next book!!

Why is no one talking about this book? I found this on whim while browsing Kindle Unlimited titles. I am so glad I gave it chance. The plot, the characters, the atmosphere was all top notch. Aurora is now one of my favorite FMC's. She is fierce and is learning to not take shit from anyone. Seven, Elijah, and Atticus are great characters as well. Seven is my favorite and probably the most unhinged. Elijah is traumatized but is the most cinnamon roll of all of them. Atticus is the control freak, asshole but I kind of hate to love him. This was just so, so good. If you love why choose dark romance then you should give it a try.

Review

Oh my God. This book was sooooo good. This is a why-choose, dark romance novel told from multiple POVs. I ate it up literally. I loved the story so much, don't let me start on this characters.

Our FMC Aurora is a total badass and I love her and how after everything that happened to her she was still going forward and not giving up, especially for Eleven our sweet pup (not to be dramatic, but I would die for Eleven).
One of our MMCs Elijah is such a sweetheart, he literally melts my heart, because of how utterly adorable he is. Story about his past absolutely broke my heart and I couldn't finish that chapter without sobbing like a baby.
Seven is our other MMC out of three of them, and all I have to say is that he is a tattooed golden retriever energy killer (*cough* daddy *cough*) who absolutely has a weak spot for our girl Ellie and that melts my heart.
The last one, that is on the last place for a reason is Atticus who I don't like one bit. He was an asshole in the beginning, than had my heart for a bit because he got Ellie all puppy necessities while he pup-sat her, and than was an asshole again. I kinda understand why he did what he did, but come on man.

As I said in the beginning I ate this book up. I didn't expect such a addicting story. I absolutely need next book like yesterday. 🫶🏻

I was lucky enough to get a copy of the first couple chapters before the ARC released and when I say I was hooked just from that I mean I was HOOKED. Having finished the book I can say you’re going to fall in love with these men in their own special ways and you’re not going to regret it. Finding out each characters story had you craving more and I can’t wait to find out what happens in book two! Also …. Seven all the way, but also Atty and Eli 🥵

My god was this book is insanely good. This is a why-choose, dark romance novel told in multiple POVs (something i quite like in a book). I absolutely loved this story so much, and the characters are epic! Hello Seven 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

When Aurora flees her past life and ends up in a car accident, she finds herself in the hands of three dangerous and enigmatic men who offer her a deal to work for them instead of pressing charges. But with so many secrets between them all, vengeance and feelings she didn’t want she wonders if she made the right choice.

The story is really gripping, fast paced and i just couldn’t put it down, i found my self constantly needing to know more. Aurora is a bit of a badass and we love a strong FMC. Add in wicked plot twists and i NEED book 2 immediately!

3rd star for the sex scenes and melodrama at the end.
given the beginning I wasn't expecting smut to be that good.
seriously. only 3 scenes but those were chef's kiss 🔥
so, to be honest, I will probably continue this series only for smut.
the story, sadly, didn't hold my attention.

decent plot, needs some grammar editing

This lost a star for me simply because the phrase “unalive” was used once while the rest of the book never had any sort of social media censorship speak in it…😒

White Rose Painted Red grabbed my interest right from the start. I liked the fast-paced writing, and the authors had me invested in Aurora's life story. I still feel like her story has many skeletons in the closet yet to be discovered.

In terms of the plot, the story started to really pick up after the 60 % mark.

Just be careful… The chapter names are solid spoilers for the tropes you'll find in that chapter, it really made my favourite tropes fall flat because of that… and I am mad to say the least.

However, I recovered quickly because the last 90% of the story had my blood boiling. I was as emotional as our FMC, and I could really feel her frustration through the writing. It was well done! The cliffhanger, though, left me with a major book hangover, but so worth it.

WOW… this story! I mean, yes, it has some unrealistic aspects that for sure wouldn't make sense in the real world, but don't we all live in a bit of an imaginary world in our minds? It's a story, after all. A girl just moving into a mansion with three men she suspects are dangerous…? Then we start to unravel each of these men, and we can't help but forgive Aurora for this "misstep". I immediately fell in love with our cinnamon MMC, and our psychotic golden retriever MMC REEEAAALLLYY won me over there in the last 10%. For now, I'd rather stay quiet about our third MMC- my blood is still boiling.

Aurora, girl, "Maybe grey is my favourite colour", too 😏

Readers, check those trigger warnings! Though I'm someone who's wary of dark romance, I could handle it well!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thanks to the authors and BookSirens for the ARC.

Decisions borne of desperation aren’t always the most rational ones. That’s a sentiment I think all four main characters in this book might agree with.

White Rose Painted Red was a delightful surprise because the blurb gives very little away in terms of why Aurora Bellerose is wanting a fresh start and just who Atticus, Elijah, and Seven are and what they do. I loved how the Lawson sisters decided to be mysterious and a little coy with their readers, because when realized exactly what these men do? I was absolutely thrilled. I was all of a sudden a thousand times more excited than I was before.

If you like your men morally grey and driven, then you’re going to really enjoy Seven. If you like your men overprotective and obsessive, you’re going to love Atticus. If you like your men unpredictable and possessive, you’re going to love Elijah. Together they’re volatile, unpredictable, toxic, and wild. It seems to turn out that they’re Aurora’s type of wild, though, and right in a time of her life when she needs to be shocked back to life.

Is this pitch black romance? No. I’d say it’s directly in the middle of dark romance territory genre with a fast burn and high heat. It’s violent and I’d definitely be mindful of the TW/CWs. There is an adorable and intelligent pupper and nothing happens to her. It’s a lot of fun and watching Aurora evolve as the book unfolds is a great time. 4⭐️

YES. YES. YES.
This was such a fun read and listen!

A full-cast duet-narrated why-choose that I genuinely could not pull myself away from. I was hooked from start to finish.

I loved Aurora and all of her men so much, I am foaming at the mouth for book two. Please hand it over immediately.

The story kicks off with Aurora on the run, escaping her past, and literally crashing into the men who will become her future—and from there, it does not slow down.

Seven — the perfect golden retriever MMC with just a hint of dark energy
Elijah — a sweet baby angel who deserves the world 😭
Atticus — a major asshole, but would burn the world down for his family
Aurora — a total badass who holds her own and refuses to let her past define her

This story is insanely addictive. It feels like the authors took the exact blueprint of what we crave and added a dash of crack. The communication? Top-tier. The spice? Spicing. The action? Nonstop.

We get everything.

DNF (chapter 25, p. 193); I appreciate the author's note regarding the dog's safety in the novel and the themes that were presented. However, I found myself among a few reviewers who struggled to connect with the content. While I do enjoy dark fantasy and some elements of spice, the dynamic between the main female character and the three male characters felt problematic for me.

I found that the characters lacked depth, and their motivations were not clearly developed. The scenes felt disjointed, making it challenging to follow the plot, which primarily revolved around the attractive male characters committing acts of violence that seemed to be justified yet barely anything happens. Additionally, I felt that some of the language used when discussing past relationships by the male characters was off-putting and detracted from my overall enjoyment.

Plot: 5/5 • Smut: 4/5 ————> This was so good. Aurora gets into an accident and the three guys at the scene take her under their wing under the assumption she’ll be their maid. Little does she know she’s under the roof of three art stealers who are hiding and seeking of a former “friend”. Ends on huge cliffy. And im so upset that only the first is out.
Smut was very good. Was here for every moment of it. There is no M|M, but it’s still good.
