Five Sisters. Five Senses. One Gift. No Instructions.

"I spent my birthday fast asleep. In a coma to be exact."

When sixteen-year-old Savannah Delcarta awakens from a coma after life-saving surgery, a unique ability also awakens. Savannah and her sisters can predict the future with one of the five senses each. Together they form a complete picture of what is to come. Together, they are The Delta Girls.

Savannah has the gift of sight. But what she sees could put those close to her at risk. A serial arsonist has been terrorizing their small town community of Iris Harbor, and the sisters have their suspicions of who could be to blame, including a boy who starts as an adversary to Savannah but very quickly becomes her whole world. Savannah and her sisters must trust in their new ability in order to stop the next flame being sparked before it is too late, putting each of their lives in danger.

“Why would we foresee something like this if we weren’t able to stop it? It’s not fair,” she whispered. “I feel partly responsible.”

This was an enjoyable story, about triplets with supernatural powers of perception.

The three sisters in this story were really cute, and it was obvious how close they were, and how they supported each other during Savannah’s time in a coma.

“We have to try again.” My eyes pleaded with my sister. “If it happened once it could happen again.”

The storyline in this was about the girls discovering their newly found supernatural perception abilities, and working out what to do with the information they gained. The story did feel a bit rough around the edges in places, but this was quite a fun, fresh story, that I think younger teens in particular would enjoy.

“Okay, let’s make a pact to experiment with this… ability, every night before bed. Everyone agree?”

There was some romance, and Savannah and the new boy in her life made a cute couple, even though they had a couple of ups and downs!

“My first kiss – and it was just like heaven.”

The ending to this was good, and I was pleased with the way everything was tied up, and we actually got answers to things!

The first thought I had when I started reading the book was that it was insanely smart and meticulous. There were some small but perfectly matched details that I enjoyed but I am not going to spoil them and ruin the fun. You guys have to read and find out. So because of that I gave the book one plus star. 4 it is.

Our female lead, Savannah, along with her 4 sisters find out that they have the power to 'connect' with each other and see glimpses of the future. Unfortunately they were too many sisters for me to keep track so I only focused on brave Savy who even after such a risky surgery she found the strength to live on. Having the love of her family as a foundation, she managed to build her life again.
So even though Savy falls in love and her romance is a big part of the book, I was actually relieved that for a change it wasn't the biggest part. Thankfully Riley was not boring and predictable and he gave a special sparkle to the story.

When the fires start and the girls see the first important vision the real story actually begins. They try to discover the arsonist by predicting the fires. At that point I thought that the book couldn't get any better and then BOOM, Savy can communicate with the dead. I swear that the scenes were so well written and I thought that if I lift my eyes from the book I would also see a ghost. I got scared and creeped out but that is not a bad thing actually.

I can't say that there were plot twists and I think that I was able to predict the arsonist way too soon but it didn't really spoil the book. Maybe it was too obvious just to me because I am super smart.

The book was fun and easy to read. I wasn't tired, confused or lost at all and I really enjoyed the happy end. It made up for all the creepy scenes!

Sight is a great start to a new young adult paranormal series.

Savannah is a teen who has just woken up from a coma. She finds herself with the ability to see into the future, but she isn’t the only one changed. It seems that when Savannah woke from her coma, something woke up gifts in her and all her sisters…all five of them. Each gift gives them a different perspective of an event by enhanced senses.

Lots of action, wonderful family bonds between the five sisters, and a genuinely sweet but fast paced story, Sight is a great prelude for more to come.

An all around delightful read, Sight provides the perfect dose of magic, mystery and just plan enjoyable entertainment.

'Sight' is the first book in a young adult paranormal series that features the Delcarta sisters and their new psychic abilities. There are five sisters in the family - a set of twins and a set of triplets. After the youngest of the siblings undergoes dangerous surgery to remove a brain aneurysm and then falls into a coma, the girls are starting to give up hope that she'll ever wake up. One day a couple of months after her surgery, Savannah has the strangest sensation take over her body - which is then followed by a vision. Immediately afterwords, she wakes up from her coma, completely fine. It isn't until months later that Savannah shares her vision with her sisters after having it played out right in front of her eyes. Each of the other girls admit to having similar experiences around the same time and on the same day that Savannah woke up. The fascinating part to their new abilities is that they each only get a part of the vision. Each of the sisters is connected to one of the five senses and together they can get the full experience of the vision. But what do these new powers mean? Why did they get them now and what are they supposed to do with them? The answer becomes clear when an arsonist targets their community - the girls need to use their powers to unveil the identity of the criminal and stop them before another disastrous fire rips through their neighborhood.

This was a truly enchanting and fascinating book for me - a phenomenal beginning to a new young adult paranormal series. I loved getting to know each of the sisters - each having their own distinct personalities and quirks. Since there are five of them and they're so close in age, I admit it took me awhile to keep everyone straight and not confuse them. Once I was able to clearly discern each girl, things went a lot faster and smoother. I loved each of the girls for their own reasons - as I mentioned, they all have their own traits and personalities that set them apart from the others. Because of their complex nature, I was able to connect with each of them separately, as well as a collective group. I was definitely excited to find out that this was the first in a series, and that each of the following books focuses on a different sense and it's corresponding sister. I loved watching each of the girls grow and mature in different ways throughout the story and I'm excited to see what will happen when they each are the main character in their own book.

Savannah is the main character of this book, and her ability is sight. I loved the descriptions that the author uses to bring Savannah and her visions to life. It was like I could easily close my eyes and find myself alongside the sisters as the novel progresses. The book is written in first person point of view, which is a huge deal for me. I've noted in several other reviews how important POV is to a story and the effect is has on the reader. In my opinion, first person POV is almost always the best (and my favorite) because it allows such a deep connection between the reader and the character. We get to see a side of them that wouldn't be possible in any other writing style - we learn their hopes and dreams, fears and insecurities, inner thoughts and emotions. Allowing the reader to have access to this side of a character creates a deeper connection, which then allows for a completely new experience for the reader. I loved that Savannah was the narrator of the book and it was told from her perspective. I can't wait to read the other books and get to know the rest of the sisters on the same level.

The plot wasn't wholly original, but it was written in a way that made it intriguing and mysterious. I loved learning about all of the different abilities the girls had, and how they used those senses together to create a whole vision of what they were seeing. It wasn't just a flat vision - the other senses added to the situation and gave it a completely realistic feel instead of being sort of boring. I liked how the girls have to band together - both with their new powers and as sisters - in order to figure out who the arsonist is and how to stop them. That part was a bit of a mystery and I loved that the author wrote it in that way. It gave the book a whole new level that wouldn't have been there otherwise, and I really think it enhanced the story as a whole. The book was fast paced, but really started to pick up speed once the girls get their abilities and the arsonist begins to attack their neighborhood. It was almost impossible to put down once it reached that point. The use of vivid imagery and detailed descriptions along with a solid writing style and complex characters brought this novel to life for me as a reader. I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read the rest of the series! Definitely recommended for fans of the genre, as well as readers who enjoy fantasy, mysteries, and young adult fiction overall.

I’m not very trendy, it seems, as whilst everyone else around the world of my age (I’m in my forties) has jumped on the New Adult bandwagon, I’m yet to be convinced that anyone over the age of 25 should bother to indulge.

I figured if anyone could convince me of the genre’s worth, however, it would be Juliet Madison. I thoroughly enjoyed two of her novels previously, both fun and clever romances.

Sight is the first in the Delta Girls series which features the five Delcarta sisters. Each book, I assume, will be written from one of the sisters' point of view and, in this first installment, our narrator is Savannah.

Just before her 16th birthday, Savannah goes into hospital for an operation to remove a brain aneurysm. Afterwards, she falls into a coma, and upon waking she, and her sisters, discover if that they join hands and concentrate they can predict the future, each using one of the five senses.

Savannah is, obviously from the title, gifted with the sense of sight.

For me, Sight suffered in a couple of areas. Firstly, as it is that problematic first cab off the rank, it had to dedicate several chapters to set up the premise of the girls’ ‘super powers’. The girls trying to work out what exactly their gifts are and how they work becomes a little mind numbing, but has to be included.

The second issue I had was with the setting. One of the things I adored about Madison’s other offerings was the way she depicted Australia and our typical traits. Although Sight doesn’t specify a setting as such, and the town the girls live in is fictional, it is fairly obvious from the way the characters spoke, their hobbies, and the sports they play, it was meant to be America.

While I understand the need to appeal to a wider market, it did, for me, take away a chunk of what I found charming in Madison’s books I'd previously read.

The other thing I enjoyed about Madison's previous titles was their humour. I quite often laughed out loud in those, but I found Sight to be quite staid and serious for the most.

The mystery was well done, and I did appreciate not only the way the main mystery of this book was solved in the end, giving us some sense (see what I did there?) of resolution, but how cleverly Madison introduced the idea of another couple of mysteries to ensure readers seek out the other books in the series.

Unlike a couple of other New Adult titles I've attempted, there is nothing inappropriate about Sight. The young romance in the book is harmless, as are the supernatural themes involved. It’s all very PG rated, and I would certainly say that anyone as young as 12 would enjoy this offering. I’m just not sure anyone over the age of say 22 will.. Its innocence is its death knell with me, I’m afraid.

4/5 if you’re very young.

3/5 if you’re over the hill like me.

We have another uniquely told young adult entertainment gem here! Sight by Juliet Madison is a pleasure to read! Low on teen angst, high on family ties, positive attitudes and special sisterly bonds, the suspense and mystery of a serial arsonist is like the cherry on top of this fast-paced, paranormal read!

When Savannah wakes from a two month coma, her world becomes “more.” We’ve all heard of people with traumatic injuries or prolonged comas coming back to us, changed, well Savannah now has the gift of “sight” and things are happening around her that are lie déjà vu moments. She isn’t the only one changed, each of her four sisters have gained another of the senses, and together, they can experience events as if they were there, which actually makes for some humorous moments. Seriously, would you like to be the sister with the gift of scent or smell on garbage day, or worse, after fajita night? (Just saying…). Together these five sisters become their own mental detective agency, and their very gifts may put them on the radar of evil.

But where is the romance? Where are the twists and the revelations? They are all here and told in the spirit of good storytellers everywhere, thanks to the spin Juliet Madison places on her writing. Never weighed down with overly detailed scenes, but filled with action and the camaraderie of five sisters this gem is a quick and fascinating read that will leave you smiling, until you realize that book two is not sitting waiting for you! A definite summertime read with characters full of spirit, a competitive streak and the imaginations of youth!

Savannah, Serena, Sasha, Talia, and Tamara. Five sisters. Five senses.

When Savannah awakes from a coma, the sisters' five senses wake too...and when they connect, the senses become stronger and they try to make sense of their new ability.

They are new in town, trying to start a new life and move past the heartache. When the girls are taking a walk on the beach, they stumble upon a volleyball game and Savannah gets hit in the head with the ball. When over confident "Volleyball Guy" aka Riley gives Savannah a fun but hard time, it's game on.

The sisters keep their ability a secret, and the visions start coming more frequently. They are determined to figure out the mystery of their visions and uncover who is responsible for the fires that could harm a lot of people.

This story is amazing. It is fast-paced from the first paragraph until the last. The bond that the sisters have is compelling, and I just loved their individual personalities. Each sister stood out, even with Savannah being the focal point. The twists and unexpected turns were brilliantly placed, never leaving any slow spots in the story. I discovered how the five senses were placed with each sister's personality was completely brilliant and creative. (how do authors come up with this stuff??) Riley, is just too cute. The romance between Savannah and Riley gives those fun butterfly feelings in your belly. When you get into the story, you learn how much Savannah and Riley are alike, and make a perfect fit...even with a little romance hiccups along the way. Amazing mysterious plot, fasinating bond, and paranormal awesomeness will draw you into this series, wanting more like RIGHT NOW!

I loved this book. I love reads that entertaining that I can finish fast with my busy life. I look forward to the adventure to come.

First of all, what an awesome page turner book! I literally just dive in through the story finishing this in one sitting all night and I can't help myself to not write down how I felt about this book immediately.

I started this book without knowing so much about it. The blurb sounds amazing but it didn't gave away the story much so I pretty much reading this in a total blind state. And then BAM! at exactly the first ten pages of the story I knew this story was going to be an epic read for me. The plot was really interesting. It was about this Delcarta sisters who suddenly have a psychic ability of their own after one of the sisters, Savannah, woke up from her coma. Their ability turned out to be stronger when connected to one another.

The characters was a bit overwhelming at first that I needed to write down who's got what power (yeah, I'm just that type of reader). But I loved the sisters as soon as I got into it. They each has their own unique personality that balanced each other out and it just suits their ability so much. Their relationship was also very fun to read. What I did find a bit distracting was how fast Savannah and Riley's romance started and it felt too instant for me. But the book was slightly in a fast paced motion and wasn't really that long so I still could tolerate the romance. I mean, the romance was making the story a bit lighter so that it wouldn't be all crimes and mysteries. And Riley's character was also likable with all his past and everything that was going on between him and Savannah, so it wasn't all that annoying kind of romance.

The plot twist, however, was kind of predictable for me—for I have a sixth sense of guessing who it was. Well, apparently since I also had a psychic ability I should be joining the sisters now :D. No, I actually wrote down the clues and my suspects as I get through it (don't mind me, I really like solving mysteries pretending to be a detective). But, even though my guess was right, that ending was still really well done!

Overall, the book was really brilliant and I enjoyed it so much. It was a fast read and an awesome book. I really can't wait to read more of The Delta Girls' amazing stories.

A 16 year-old girl wakes up from a 2 month coma after having an operation to remove an aneurysm. But when she awakes her and her 4 sisters are able to see things that have yet to happen. Is this new power for real? Or is it just coincidence that they're seeing mundane things like someone taking out the garbage? When their visions start becoming more intense they start to feel like they were given this gift for a purpose. With an arsonist on the loose and their visions revolving around fires they start to wonder if they're suppose to find out who is behind the fires. Will they be able to use their visions to help? Or will they just be standing on the sidelines knowing what is about to happen?

I love paranormal stories, so for this one to be a sisterhood type fantasy I really enjoyed it. I loved that each sister had one of the senses as their way of seeing things. Meaning they needed each other to piece together what was going on. It created a bond between the sisters, and I love reading books about families with strong ties. I feel like they were close before their visions started happening, but once the visions came it was as if they were each others pillars to lean on.

Riley is adorable - and honestly he is the character that embodies readers. Although he isn't the main character, he is the one who actually goes "this isn't real, it isn't happening". Which I feel like with paranormal stories is what every reader thinks. So having this character for us to relate to, to help us ease into the paranormal visions that our main girl, Savannah, is going through helps us to believe what is going on.

One thing that I loved about this story was that although they were dealing with visions, I felt like readers could relate to it. It kept making mention of how people diagnose their own symptoms just to make sense of something that doesn't make sense. The girls kept coming up with names for their visions; they're the Delta sisters, they're going to connect, etc., so that they could make sense of this phenomena that was happening to them. When in reality there really was no making sense of what was happening to them.

*Arc provided by Publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review *

Sight by Juliet Madison is a compelling, fast-paced, YA paranormal story with interesting and likable characters who keep readers invested in their story from the first page onward. The main heroine in this story, sixteen year-old Savannah Delcarta, underwent surgery to remove a brain aneurysm and then spent two months in a coma afterward. Upon awakening, Savannah, along with her four sisters, discover they have new psychic gifts, Savannah’s being the gift of sight. Together, these five sisters are able to see bits and pieces of the future, and it’s these new gifts that forces them to work together to find out the identity of the serial arsonist plaguing their new town, and makes them determined to figure out how to stop them before anyone else gets hurt.

Though Sight deals with the suspenseful storyline of a serial arsonist, it’s also contains some romance, and a whole lot about family and sisters and learning how to overcome tragedies from the past. It’s an engrossing, suspenseful, somewhat humorous read that I thoroughly enjoyed and I think most other YA readers will enjoy it as well.

A fantastic start to what appears to be an intriguing new series! I recommend it!

I received this from Net Galley in an exchange for an honest review

I really enjoyed this book, and it is not what I expected. I initially thought Savannah would be the leader of the group and take charge in most matters. That is not how it happened, each of the sisters had an equally important role to the plot; together stronger, weaker apart (they needed to be 'connected' in order for them to have some sort of understanding of what Savannah was seeing).
What I most liked about this book was how the quick the pace was, it was not slow or very fast that you could not understand what the plot was about!

I really enjoyed Riley's character
description

He was a perfect combination of mystery and being drop dead gorgeous. I liked how the chemistry between him and Savannah did not take long at all, I also liked the fact that neither characters were in much denial of their feelings for one another, as it prolongs the story further which can either make the story really boring or interesting.

**This book was sent to me in exchange for my honest review**

This was a fresh read unlike nothing I've ever read before. There were a lot of great things that aid in building the promise of a fantastic series. SIGHT follows five sisters and their discovery of their supernatural abilities. Five sisters, five senses. Each sister has the ability to receive visions, but each one is attached to one of the various senses. Savannah, our main character, has the supernatural ability of sight.

Through getting to know their new gifts, they discover that there is an arsonist that is lose of their new neighborhood. And they aim to use their abilities to help solve the mystery. Along the way, the girls meet some fascinating characters.

I enjoyed this book. The plot is interesting enough and it holds the attention really well. Although, I felt at times that things progressed to a point that, even I, would say was way to quick -- that didn't stop me from seeing the true potential for this new series.

The progression of the plot was decent. It was easy to follow and there weren't too many down moments, or moments where the plot seemed to be a little stuck. I was constantly asking myself questions because I was interesting in finding out what was happening throughout the book. Didn't feel too choppy or unrelated.

The romantic chemistry because Savannah and Riley feel a little forced at times -- and rushed. But throughout the VERY short book, it began to make sense. Even though, there seemed to be a moment of insta-love. That insta-love happened over a very emotional and experiential moment for both characters. Because of the size of the book and how much Madison needed to introduce to her readers (because it's book one), I can forgive how quickly the romance came to be. There is no low and slow here.

The supporting characters are there, but as I type this review, I am hard pressed to think of any that were really meaningful to the main characters. Who aided in any time of development. Some of the supporting cast helped with the progression of the plot, but I really do feel like they were as necessary as I would have liked them to have been.

Savannah and Riley (and the sisters) can carry this story all by themselves, which is essentially what happened. While, there wasn't much character development (aside of Savannah), there was still some very nice moments between characters.

One thing that Madison does really well in this book is the portrayal of awesome sisterly love. And how deep a mother's love runs for her children. There were no exactly moments where I felt this happened, it was just an overall feel of the book. Reading about the five sisters interacting, either by themselves or with their mother, was really fun. The mood throughout the book definitely demonstrated how tight knit and close that family was. I loved it.

Overall, Juliet Madison has done enough to ensure that I will be picking up the next book when it's readily available for me. While the first book was small, with a lot of information within its pages, it still felt like a goos story by the time I finished it. These are just a few things that I noticed throughout the reading experience and I'm hoping will be addressed in later books!

So, I picked up this book because I recently won the giveaway for the fifth book in this series, "Touch." I had assumed upon entering the giveaway that it was a stand-alone read, and now I have roughly four weeks to read books one-four before number five makes it in the mail. Wish me luck guys. This is a gal on a mission.

Also, I was really excited and nervous to get into this book, since I never even bothered to read the summary beforehand (which I ALWAYS do before I read). I was surprised by every little thing that was given to me; pleasantly so. A first for me, but this book was well-worth it.

It took me only a chapter into the book to understand where the titles come from:

"I was the eyes, Serena the ears, Sasha the nose, Tamara the tongue, and Talia the hands. Bizarre!" Well said, Savvy. And very creative too.

Despite the fact that the girls each possessed the unnatural abilities of psychics, the troubles that they faced were still very real-life tragedies. This is always a pleasant surprise for me. I adore the paranormal, and I was given a taste of this with regards to afterlife elements in the book, though it didn't overshadow the reality of the story. Overall, I was very pleased.

What made this book all the more fascinating was, though each sibling was born with at least one other of the girls beside them, each of them possessed vastly differing personalities:

Savannah: She is the baby of the family and the more clairvoyant of the group. She sees things no one else does and is very intuitive to those around her. She is a fighter, both on the field and in the operating room. She is a force to be recommend with.

Talia: She is the oldest of the bunch. She is the most responsible and knows how to take charge of any given situation. She has her act together and helps the girls to keep level heads about them.

Tamara: She is the chef of the group. She is much like her mother in caring for the girls' needs, both physical and emotional. She takes great care of her siblings and has the recipe to create a preferable situation.

Serena: She is the researcher of the group, keeping track of their new abilities and visions and cataloging every minute detail in order to better understand their situation. If there is a question to be asked, she'll be the one asking and finding the answers through extensive analysis. And she's a hardcore reader (totally my girl)!

Sasha: She is the fashionista of the group. She's the one who nose what's up (haha sorry, I had to). She's the best when it comes to dressing down a situation. She makes light of the predicaments that they face, though she absolutely takes them seriously. She is the girl to call when they are in need of relief and calm.

Together, these Delta Girls make one heck of a team. They are the perfect crime-solving squad with the heart and determination to see through to the future and face whatever is thrown their way. I cannot wait to see what will be in store for them next.

**You can see this full review and more at Book Briefs: http://bookbriefs.net**Sight is the first book in the Delcarta Sister's series. And I am not 100% sure the shape that the series is going to take, but this is how I hope it goes- There are 5 sisters. One set of twins and one set of triplets. Each one of them has premonitions featuring one of the five senses. This book focused on Savannah and and development of all of their gifts. Savannah has the gift of sight, but the cool thing is that if they all join hands, they can complete the vision through all of their senses. So I hope in future books that the sisters all stay together, and are all featured. Maybe with a different sister taking lead in each. Sight is a really, really cool concept. This book was a very short and quick read that kind of set the ground work for the situation I just described. It is a young adult paranormal series with a cute romance to boot.

I will tell you a little secret. Other than Savannah, I had a bit of a hard time telling the rest of the sisters apart. I couldn't keep their names straight, and I couldn't really distinguish their personalities. So the biggest hope that I have for the next book is that some time is really spent on making each of the sister's their own person. They all kind of seemed the same, but I am sure that isn't the case. I want to see more subtleties, details and differences come out in their personality in the next book in the series. I think that would help enrich the story even more.

I did really like the concept of the five of them having to be together to get a complete vision of the future. Savannah could only see what was going on, she couldn't hear it. Or taste it. Or smell things in the background. That being said, I think there are clear winners and not such winner as far as the senses go in this case. I would love sight or hearing, but I could pass on smell. Especially in most of the visions they got. But not only did Sight lay a good framework for future books, but there was a neat little mystery of an arsonist for the girls to solve. I thought Sight was good, but I think there is potential for the next books to be even better because they can explore the sisters as individuals more and give them a little more dimension. I also want to see more of Savannah and her beau. This review was originally posted on Book Briefs

I received this from NetGalley in an exchange for an honest review

Okay so to start off; I'm debating with myself if I should give this a 3.5 or 4 stars?

Sight by Juliet Madison is a quick and fast okay read.

This story is about 5 sisters. Twins and triplets Talia, Tamara, Serena, Sasha and the main character, Savannah. The book starts of in the hospital where Savannah is in coma. She wakes up with a bubble feeling and discovers she has the special ability of seeing things others can't. She's not alone, her 4 other sisters have also been given a special ability each. All five senses.

The storyline continues 3 months later at Iris Harbor with their single mother and missing father who disappeared 9 years ago.

The Delcarta sisters can experience events as if they were there like in the future and together these five sisters become their own private detective, but their very gifts give them vision of something bad that only the Delta Girls can prevent.

At the beach near their new home, Savannah gets a déjà vu when a vision she had at the hospital becomes real. For comfort, she tells her sisters about it. They look at each other and slowly the realization hit them. The sisters discover that each of them has experienced the same memory but through a different sense. While Savannah experiences it by sight her triplet sisters have felt it by sound and smell and the older twins have sensed it through taste and touch.
After that event the journey begins for them all.

One specific character I really enjoyed was Riley. He was mysterious, absolutely gorgeous! The chemistry between him and Savannah hit the first time they met like love at first sight. They didn't deny their feelings for one another which was a bit 'meh'.

It was the first book I read from Juliet Madison and she did a great job even though it was very predictable and it annoyed me a bit that the five sisters didn't actually think about the clues they got and remembered back to previous clues or even try to put the puzzle pieces together. But putting that aside, the author really did have an great idea and she balanced the story well. Even though I have mix feelings about this book I would definitely root for a sequel. I won't spoil you but there was something at the end maybe 80 pages before the end I really need an answer to and something I wanted to have read we didn't get to see which I am very curious about! ;D
So overall, a great job.

Book Review- Sight by Juliet Madison
Savannah had a brain aneurysm and had an operation to fix it. Unfortunately she didn’t wake up from surgery, remaining in a coma for two months. Once she came out of it she, her mom, and her sisters moved to a new place for a fresh start.
One day on the beach Savannah spies a hot guy playing volleyball until his cockiness drives her to join the game. As she plays she gets this strong sense of déjà vu. She admits to her sisters that she has seen this day before. The girls are shocked because they reveal they each picked up on the moment. Each girl has gotten a psychic vision using a certain sense. Savannah’s is sight. The girls work together to see if the visions continue.
At first they are insignificant like someone taking out the trash. Then at school they foresee an explosion and fire. They have no idea when or where it will occur. When a local liquor store burst into flames, the girls are unsettled.
As they try to figure out their abilities, they keep things quiet. They are unsure how their mom will react. She is starting to move on after their father’s disappearance and they don’t want to make things any more stressful.
Savannah is also growing closer to volleyball guy and neighbor, Riley. They seem to share a lot in common and grow close pretty quickly. She sees hurt and anger in Riley from his father’s death.
When Savannah starts seeing ghosts on her own, things get complicated extremely fast, especially when one of them is Riley’s father. Savannah is torn about what to do. Then the girls get a vision about another fire. They are trying hard to figure out what to do.
However when their secret comes out the reactions they get are surprising. More secrets are revealed that are shocking and they are unsure of who can be trusted.
This was an interesting YA book. There was a lot of loss which was sad but it brings the characters together. It was also interesting to see how the characters dealt with their grief in different ways. There was anger, withdrawal, and obsession. I liked the wide range of emotions.
Then Savannah was a survivor herself. I liked how her character approached life after getting better. I loved her competitive nature and the relationships she has with her mom and sisters. Family is important and the message is clear. Great read. I give it a 4 out of 5.

*I received this Advanced Readers Copy from NetGalley for an honest review*

When I came across this book on NetGally I decided to give it a shot because it sounded good but sadly I was expecting a little more. This book was a good book and it held my interest but this book had major potential that it haven’t quite lived up to my expectations.

This story is about five sisters whose father disappeared on them nine years ago. The main character in this book Savannah had a surgery for a brain aneurysm which let her be in a coma for two months. When she woke up, her family decided to move to a new town and to start a new life. While coping with their new lives, the girls begin to discover that they have supernatural powers. One sense for each of the five sisters predicts the future and past. The powers helped them with something- can’t say more or I give a spoiler and that is not what I do!

I loved the relationship the girls had with their mother, it reminded me of my relationship with my mom…. The ending was good and I would want to see what happens in the next book. This book was a really quick read, it took me just a few hours to read it. I’ve read it after work when I had to stay late.

I didn’t like Savannah much and I wonder if I would like any of the other sisters, I do hope so but I also found Sasha annoying because she was way to girly for me and had to many opinions. Why I only gave a three heart/star rating was because I would have loved a little more suspense and I would have loved if the characters in this book was a little older. Looks like I’m more into the Older Young Adult books or New Adult books right now.In my eyes this book is made more for the younger YA readers. I adore the cover it catches your eyes instantly there and there is some romance element in this book but I needed more, some dirty talk and smut would have been nice for me. There is nothing smutty in this book that is why I say it’s more for the younger YA’s between the ages of 10-14 I think.

Sight is the first in The Delta Girls series by the talented genre jumping Juliet Madison. I read her debut, Fast Forward, and loved it but haven't managed to catch anything of hers since. It's a simple case of too many good books and not enough hours, I have meant to read all the releases in between but haven't managed to fit them in. Sight is one that I simply had to make room for, the cover is absolutely gorgeous and that cover model looks familiar but I can't work out where from. More than just the cover, the premise grabbed me.

The Delcarta sisters and their mother have just moved to Iris Harbor for a fresh start away from all the memories of their father, who disappeared nine years earlier. It's a great time to start anew because Savannah is still recuperating after major surgery to remove an aneurysm, an operation which seems to have done replaced her aneurysm with something new, a gift that is shared with her sisters.

Savannah is one of five Delcarta sisters; a set of twins with names beginning with T and a set of triplets with names beginning with S. Their ages are quite similar so their parents had a few tough years with a set of twins and then triplets not that long after.

The triplets are sixteen, which we know because Savannah spent her sweet sixteenth sleeping, very deeply in the hospital. Now that Savannah is up and about again she is being monitored closely by her protective family, and it's driving her a little crazy because she is a girl who needs to be active.

A chance meeting on a beach jolts Savannah into recognising the gift she received in return for her aneurysm and it isn't long before she discovers that she shares it with her sisters. I found this whole storyline to be completely unique and enthralling, not to mention intriguing - I am tempted to google and see just what I can found out, if it really is a phenomena. Savannah has been granted the gift of second sight, not really that unusual after a coma and a life threatening operation. But her sisters also gained the gift of a second sense, a different one for each of them, and they had to be connected for the sight to work for them.

The remainder of my review will be published at Beauty and Lace.

I received an invite to view the title from Diversion Books via Netgalley.

I'm not really sure what to make of this book, to be honest. I didn't think it was terrible, but then again, I didn't particularly like it either. There was nothing wrong with it, it wasn't badly written or anything, no glaring typos or errors I could spot. Fairly original premise - five psychic sisters for five human senses, one girl getting her first boyfriend and how the relationship develops in spite of the discoveries of their new psychic gifts.

I just didn't connect to it. It felt a little too easy and convient in how everything was wrapped up, and a few times I got more of a tell and not show senses I didn't get much of a sense of personality from the main character or that of her sisters, really. There as a decent family dynamic, the mom was nice, and there were some fairly moving scenes towards the end when they finally get some answers on what happened to their missing father and the main characters boyfriend learns the truth about what happened to his own dead father. Though while some of it was moving and beautifully descriptive, some of it felt very cheesy and sickly sweet. Sort of like a Disney movie.

It wasn't a bad book really, I guess it was just not to my taste. I'm not really interested in continuing with this particular series, but I could certainly read something else by this author.

Thank you to Netgalley and Diversion Books for the invite to view the title.

Three months after being discharged from the hospital, Savannah Delcarta and her family start a new life in the town of Iris Harbor. The change is difficult at first, but Savanna and her four sisters share a lot more than sisterhood and friendship in common. All five sisters have paranormal abilities. Savannah has the gift of sight, Serena the gift of sound, Sasha the gift of scent, Tamara the gift of taste and Talia the gift of touch. When the sisters get together and hold hands, they are able to predict the future using one of those senses.

When a serial arsonist terrorizes Iris Harbor, the Delcarta sisters rely on their senses to find out who is behind the mysterious fires.

This is book one of the Delta Girls series and I absolutely LOVED it! The story is awesome! Savannah is sassy and kind and the plot is well-developed. I really had a great time reading it. It was a nice, enjoyable afternoon read. I liked that there was the right amount of adventure, romance and suspense weaved in the story. Because this is book one, not all the characters were as developed as Savannah, but we get an introduction to her sisters and mother as well. I'm definitely looking forward to the other books in the series, and to learn more about the Delcarta sisters.

I’d like to thank NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. This book is scheduled to be published on July 14, 2015.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was exciting and new. I have a sister and I'm not sure I would want to share a weird gift with her but this was a fun book for me to read. I really enjoyed all the characters and I would love to read more from this author and of this series. I have not read anything thing from Juliet Madison before so I'm glad I got a chance to try her book. I enjoyed it! * I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*

Savannah has spent 2 months in a coma and when she wakes up in the hospital, surrounded by her four sisters, something weird happens - they all have paranormal powers!

"It was like we were one body, needing each other to fully comprehend what was going on. I was the eyes, Serena the ears, Sasha the nose, Tamara the tongue, and Talia the hands. Bizarre!"

They start trying to call up visions by holding hands and eventually see, hear, smell, taste and feel what appears to be someone starting a fire, and since there is an arsonist at work in their town, there's a pretty good chance this is his work. Unfortunately, they don't get enough information from the vision to stop the fire from happening. Will they be able to figure it out in time to stop the next fire?

This was a very quick read because it's only 218 pages long, and the pace keeps it moving along nicely. You get a lot of info on each of the girls, too, so there's great character development.

All in all, I enjoyed this book very much and look forward to continuing with the other books in the series.

4/5 stars.

Just delightful - although a Paranormal YA Mystery, don't let that deter you - it's beautiful, sensitive and engaging. The blurb explains the Delta Girl's psychic abilities perfectly. The sister love is believable and real, truly wonderful with the positivity after such difficulties with Savannah spending her 16th birthday in a coma after life saving surgery. Savannah has the gift of sight, the other sisters have different gifts.
This first book has me immediately wanting to read the rest of the series. Not just for young adults, but for anyone who enjoys a story that allows them to escape for a while. Nothing fake or false, just enjoyable reading. I wanted to give all the family a hug.

A fun read

This was a fun read, it had some mystery and some romance as well as family relationships. I'm not sure how I would take it if I suddenly found I could see the future or talk to ghosts, but I know it would be something to come to grips with. I'm guessing if I had my family with me to help it would be much easier. I look forward to book 2

I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of this review.

Initial Reaction:

Sight by Juliet Madison is the first book in a new paranormal series about a group of sisters who sense the future. In theory, this sounds great! And I was all like:

But in the actual reading of the story I just wasn't impressed. There was a lot that could have been done that wasn't and a lot that was included that didn't have to be. Let me break this down into two categories: what I liked and didn't like.

What I Liked

I loved that the author uses siblings as the main character for this story. Often family is overlooked in young adult literature. You usually will get your heroine and everything else is just background noise to her. Not the case with this book. The author lays out five sisters and they all play a big role in the book. While this one is told from Savannah's POV, I have a feeling that each book will be told by a different sister, corresponding with their precognitive ability.

I love the sisters. You have the twins, Tamara and Talia, who are 18. Then there's the triplets, Savannah, Sasha, and Serena, who just turned 16. Each girl has a precognitive sense: sight, smell, taste, touch, hearing. AND they can only have a vision when they are together. This ability is completely new to them and they have to figure out a way to navigate it together. The sisters are close, rarely fight (which I found amazing considering they live in close quarters), and are fiercely protective of one another.

I also liked the main plot which revolved around not only the sisters learning to use this ability, but the mystery surrounding their new town. Someone is setting fire to businesses around town. So far no one has been hurt, but the police also have no leads. The girls are seeing the future and think they can help, if they only knew how.

What I Didn't Like

The teenage drama!!!! I get it. The girls are 16 and 18 years old, there's going to be some drama. There's even bound to be some immaturity. Maybe I'm just getting too old for these books, but Savannah, the MC and POV of the book, just annoys me! I tried to like her, I really did, but her obsession with the boy next door and her apparent lack of concern over the visions they receive just grated on my nerves. I mean really, if I had just awoke from a coma after three months, I would be thinking about more than boys ESPECIALLY if I was all of a sudden seeing the future!!!!!

Riley Pearce, the boy next door, Savannah's crush, and who we should all like.....ugh!!!! Not only is he rude, a completely dick to Savannah, he is supposed to be the guy we like. His only redeeming quality that I found was that he was "hot." Sorry ladies, that is not enough to make me like him. Yes he has a tragic backstory, accounting for his behavior, but I don't buy the jerk act. I don't like it, period, end of story! Be a man, treat your lady with respect, and for God's sake just be nice!!!! It's not that hard.

Obviously if I didn't like Riley, I didn't like the romance in this book. It's a lot like first crush, instead of first high school boyfriend. While reading it, I had to remind myself that Savannah's in high school not middle school, because that is how the relationship/romance read. I just wasn't impressed.

Then the plot. Like I said I liked it, but there was a lot of build up, only to get everything nicely gift wrapped into one chapter. I felt like rather than the mystery giving you clues as you read, it was all packed into one chapter, leaving the rest of the book for the girls to explore their newfound abilities and Savannah to explore Riley. I didn't like this!

Overall Conclusion:

Overall the book was just OK. It didn't get me excited, it didn't keep my attention, and I was not blown away by the ending. What I was excited about was this was a relatively clean read, something that is lacking in today's young adult literature. There were no closed door scenes, little to no coarse language, and the characters were all together wholesome. While I believe some things could have been done better and others should have been left out entirely, this book does have the redeeming quality of being an easy, fast read.

While I don't feel that this book was for me, I do think that others will enjoy it. I would recommend this for anyone that enjoys contemporary young adult, mysteries, and a little romance. In fact, I think this is a perfect read for 13+ crowd (like I said it's a clean read, with not one but five strong leading ladies).
