The two Dugray brothers spent their tumultuous childhood frequently visiting the Solano residence, forging cherished memories with the young Solano girl and her nurturing parents. Over time, the Solano house became a second home to them.
Their lives are linked to the Solanos, yet the Dugray family harbors a significant they come from a lineage of Hunters-individuals devoted to confronting the demons and monsters that lurk in the shadows. While the Solanos have been welcomed into this clandestine circle, a crucial rule Xiomara Solano must remain unaware of the paranormal.
Now an adult, Xiomara has accidently discovered the supernatural through a handsomely nerdy werewolf. Carter opens Xiomara’s eyes to a whole new world filled with magic and her heart to love. She has to navigate who knows the truth, her growing feelings for Carter, and her history with Logan. Battles of the heart aren’t the only thing on her mind. Tensions grow as a rival werewolf pack threatens to shake things up and make the house of lies come crumbling down.
As the three friends mature, the strain of their secrets begins to test their relationships, ultimately resulting in unforeseen consequences.
DNF at 27% Yall I can’t do it! I can’t finish this book! I never dnf books but I just can’t suffer through this one any longer. The writing style is very confusing and the characters were kinda irritating. The chapters where they were supposed to be like 6, they’re literally talking like grown adults and I just couldn’t get past that and a bunch of other stuff. Mara seemed very immature for her grown ass age. Her friendship with Carter was kinda weird. I just didn’t like it. I’m tired of trying to force myself to read things because I feel like I have to. Anyway, I do want to say thank you to Tales and Teacups for giving me access to an early copy!
I unfortunately DNFed this book at 16%. I couldn't get past the choppy writing and the drastic jumps in time from chapter to chapter. I tried really hard to stay engaged, but it wasn't grabbing my attention as I kept reading.
Thanks to Tales and Teacups for the arc in exchange for an honest review.
A romance book featuring a pack of werewolf shifter and monster hunters in a small town? Sign me up! This book follows the story of Mara and a cast of characters in her life from childhood friends to new werewolf friends she met in her adult life. I love the way the story time jumps from the present to previous memories to give backgrounds on stories and conversations happening in the present. I also love the quirky fun sides of Mara, her personality reminds me a lot of one of my friends, who would also find out the supernatural was real and be totally down to have a werewolf as a friend. Know all she had to overcome with loosing her mom but still getting letters from her made me tear up every time they got brought up but it also helped add to her character and part of why she gets so much joy out of her chosen found family.
There’s also a bit of a love triangle in this book between the older childhood best friend and the new boy werewolf to town and I absolutely loved it, even right up to the end I couldn’t decide who she should be with, both??? But that ending I can’t wait to see what happens with this triangle because of it! This story had a mix of action, a fun love story with lots of banter and the forming of family through friendships. My rating 4.2/5!
Thank you to the author and Tales and Teacups PR for the gifted copy, all opinions given are my own!

This one was a quick and fun read! It was a super cute werewolf romance full of lovable characters. I also really enjoyed the flashbacks we got throughout the story. I felt like these were done really well, and they helped to move the present day plot line along.
Mara’s reaction to finding out the supernatural are real and that her new friend is a werewolf is exactly how I hope I’d react to similar news. I’d be totally down to have werewolf friends! 🐺
There’s a bit of a love triangle, so just be aware of that if that’s not typically your thing. I felt like that storyline was done well though, and it wasn’t too in your face the whole time.
I can’t wait to see what happens next after that ending! Thank you so much to Amelia Lewis and Tales and Teacups PR for the gifted copy! ✨
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mystics & Mayhem - Book One: Origins by Amelia Lewis
There are two types of people in this world, those who know that the supernatural really exists and those who do not. Mara made it to her early 20s before learning the truth, despite her best friend Logan being a hunter and her parents knowing the truth since she was a baby. The story follows Mara's life, both past and present. We get to see how she navigates both worlds while trying to keep it a secret. Little does she know that her dad and Logan are trying to keep the supernatural a secret from her, too. She ends up in a bit of a love triangle with Logan and Carter, who happens to be a wolf shifter. But when push comes to shove, and danger finds Mara and her friends, the two join forces. With the help of others, they manage to save Mara and her friends. We definitely don't get a true HEA in this one. The cliffhanger... 😲
Supernatural is my favorite show, so I'm 100% team Logan! I heard Dean Winchester's voice in my head the whole time while reading his parts. 🤣 This book reads like watching all your favorite episodes. I definitely get major Supernatural vibes, with a bit of Twilight and True Blood thrown in. It's a fast-paced, easy read, and I really enjoyed it.
I received an ARC of this book, but these opinions are my own. I would like to thank the author, Amelia Lewis, and Tales and Teacups PR for allowing me the privilege of reading her work. ❤️
This entire book was like revisting episodes of Supernatural with lovely twists. It kind of made me wonder how Sam and Dean's life would've been if their Dad didn't keep them on the road all the time as kids.
🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧
This book starts with the Dugray Brothers as their family of Hunters helps out a small town sheriff with a vampire problem. They find out that the Sheriff has a little girl that is around the same age as the boys, and when their dad and uncle have to go on a dangerous hunting trip, they ask if the boys can stay with the sheriff and his family for the week.
This starts a lifelong friendship between the kids and the love for the two boys by the sheriff and his wife.
You go back and forth through the years, and when a werewolf pack comes back to town, everyone is in for a heck of a ride!
And yes... there is a love of pie!!
🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧
Getting used to going back and forth in time took a little getting used to, but I loved that the author put everyone's age, so everything made sense pretty quickly!
Thank you so much to @talesandteacupspr and @amelia.lewis.author for the opportunity to read this book!!
I had the privilege of getting my hands on an e-ARC of this story. This story takes place in Cypress Falls, Arizona with a Latino FMC named Xiomara, but she goes by Mara for short. She's been best friends since she was a child with Logan and Asher Dugray, brothers with about a two year age difference. This story is written in the third person and its chapters bounce between present and past so that you can understand her characters better. The story was well written and had the cutest art details at the beginning of each chapter. I enjoy and love a good werewolf book every now and then. The werewolf lore was a little different than what l've read but it was different. I believe this to be a breath of fresh air compared to a lot of the other werewolf books out there. I will warn you, this book DOES end on a cliff hanger and while I will admit, I *did not* expect that as I finished reading at 11:30pm last night; I will say that I am excited to see where Amelia takes Xiomara, Carter, Logan, and Asher.
Mystics & Mayhem was a magical and mysterious experience. This was such a unique take on werewolves and the paranormal. Paranormal romance is one of my favorite book genres, so to get to experience a new twist on a genre that we all love and know so much about, was so much fun! There were so many different characters and points of view, which can be overwhelming in books, but Amelia Lewis was able to keep you always wanting to know more and had you feeling a connection to each and every character. Xiomara was my favorite! She is such a wonderful character and unapologetically herself. She's strong, brave, level headed, hilarious, and speaks her mind without fear. The romance was so sweet and definitely had its more intimate moments. Overall, this was an amazing experience. That ending has me dying for the next book!
Mystics & Mayhem is the story of a small town, its supernatural creatures and the hunters who chase them.
As someone who has always loved werewolf stories, I was immediately interested in M&M. Other tropes include friends to lovers, small town and found family.
While I enjoyed the story, I did find that there were some aspects that were lacking for me. For instance, I was disappointed that it took until around 80% into the book for there to be any real drama or high stakes action to do with supernatural opponents. A majority of the story focuses on relationship and love-triangle related drama, which I enjoyed, though definitely took away from the “werewolf” aspect of this book.
Unfortunately, the ending felt rushed for me. I understand that there will be a second instalment to this story, so hopefully there will be more action to come.
Thank you to the author and talesandteacups for choosing me as an arc reader for this book. Now let’s get into my review!
This book was such a quick, fast paced read! Only took me a couple hours in the span of two days to read this and it was a really fun journey. It’s been a long time since I’ve read anything dealing with werewolves and honestly this one was a fun read to get back into it. My rating was 4 stars mostly because of how incredible the found family was! The trio of characters were so fun to read about and Mara is the type of FMC that I love to read about. She is unapologetically herself and the friendship and the love that bloomed in this book was beautiful. So much has happened at the end that I feel like it will definitely make the reader want to see where this story goes in the next installment.
Mystics and Mayhem is a fast-paced, addictive read set in a charming small town of Cypress Falls filled with secrets, magic, and emotional tension. Told through multiple POVs, the story follows a close group of friends who’ve grown up together however nothing is as simple as it seems with the Dugray brothers coming from a lineage of paranormal hunters.
“Mara” the fun, brave, and big-hearted FMC ends up torn between her childhood love and a new, grumpy werewolf who sweeps her off her feet and brings some spice to the book. With grumpy MMCs, a messy love triangle, and lots of emotions, this book will keep you engaged.
I devoured it in a day and was left on a cliffhanger that made me wanting to read book two!
Thank you to @talesandteacupspr and @Amelialewis for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC!
Easy, fast paced read! A soft, magical fantasy with paranormal creatures (werewolves) with a love triangle! Welcome to Cypress Falls!
Xiomara is a fierce FMC that can roll with the punches & embraces every hurdle that comes her way. She was so fun to read - making me laugh out loud at times! I loved reading her character! Logan & Carter has their work cut out for them! All the characters stood out and are unique in their own way. The ending was mind blowing & I can’t wait to see what happens next!
✨Werewolves & paranormal creatures ✨Love Triangle - human x werewolf x hunter ✨Small Town ✨Slow Burn ✨Friends to loves ✨Found family ✨Suspense
A fun read!
Thank you to @talesandteacupspr & @amelia.lewis.author for the ARC!
I really wanted to like this book, and I tried hard. I thought about DNFing but I pushed through to the end.
I'm not a huge fan of non-linear story lines, and found it a bit confusing to keep up with the changing timelines. That, and trying to remember everyone in the beginning had my mind boggled. There also didn't seem to be much world-building?
I also found it a bit funny that Andrea tried to have the "safe sex" talk with Carter and remind him about protection... but he seems to have completely forgotten to use any 🤷🏼♀️ The spicy scenes were probably the most detailed-written parts of the book 😅
The cliffhanger at the end was okay.
Maybe this one just wasn't my jam... but a big thank you to Tales and Teacups PR for the review copy!
I was really excited to jump into Mystics & Mayhem! It had a lot of fun elements to it: werewolves, hunters, love triangle, and great characters.
The writing style took me a minute to get used to, but once I did, I enjoyed the story. It felt a bit choppy at parts, and I hope to get some more action in the next book. Xiomara (Mara) was a great FMC to support, and I really liked all of the characters and connected with them
The ending really picked up and I couldn't stop to find out what was going to happen. It will leave you wanting more!
As a lover of the hit televsion show, Supernatural, I found myself drawn into the world of hunters and supernatural beings yet again. This book runs a close parallel to the show, but with enough differences to be unique and I absolutely loved it. Mara is spunky, excitable, strong, and loyal to her friends and family. She is the perfect FMC. Logan, Asher, Carter, Andrea, and Kennedy are all spectacular characters, each with their own set of strengths and flaws. Following the action and adventure, the plot is awesome and that cliffhanger?! I can't wait for the next book! My heart broke, I laughed, I got mad, and yet I still want more! I highly recommend this book to all Supernatural fans!
This is a cute werewolf romance. Not a lot of action but enough, more character centered than plot centered. The characters are really loveable. It was a fun read. I really liked how we go to go back in the past throughout and see what was happening. And the back forth between time points was done really well. There were some confusing parts in the present day timeline where I think the author maybe forgot what was written in the previous chapter. For example like 2 people were riding together that in the previous chapter it was 2 different people. But overall I read the book really quickly and it was a cute palette cleanser romance with werewolves!
Thanks to @talesandteacupspr and @amelia.lewis.author for letting me read and review this book as an Advance Reader Copy!
Managed to finish reading this in just a few days which I will be honest.....surprised me! Haha
It was really easy reading, Mara the FMC was really fun and relatable.
I would have liked possibly a little bit more 'suspense' in who or what Carter was but considering it says it in the book blurb I can't be expecting much different!
Interesting turn of events towards the end so I'm interested where it is going to go next and what is in store for the characters!!
Wow! i loved reading mystics & mayhem! At the beginning of the book, you get to know all the characters, especially the main ones: Asher, Logan, Carter, and the fierce Mara. The story is told from many different points of view, but it’s still easy to follow. The main characters are all very lovable and relatable. The ending left me wanting more!
You can tell that a lot of work has gone into the book. The chapter art is beautiful, and I love the little detail that some chapters are named after famous songs. There is also a playlist on Spotify that fits perfectly with the story.
All in all, a fun read! I can’t wait for the next book.
If you like Supernatural and Twilight and are nostalgic for your Wattpad phase, this is ABSOLUTELY the book for you!! It has a love triangle with a Werewolf and a monster hunter, who is Dean Winchester, coded Twilight-esque werewolf pack dynamics, and Wattpad-esque plotting! I liked the plot idea for the most part, but I just wanted a little more from it, and I feel kinda similarly about the characters at times I really loved them and at times they felt kinda distant. Overall, I really enjoyed parts of it, but it just fell a little flat for me
This story was a fun, quick read about the paranormal. The changing timeline and writing style took some getting used to but overall it hooked me in. The cliffy left me wanting more as well!
Associating myself with the FMC is something I often do and it gives a lot into my rating to the book. Mara was fun to "hang out with" in my mind and following her journey was interesting and exciting.
DNF @ 25%. This had potential, but the writing style was too clunky and immature for me to push through. Frequent, jarring POV shifts and weak supernatural elements left me confused and disengaged. Unfortunately, I couldn’t continue. ➡️ Full review on blog: https://themagicfarawaytreenet.wordpr...
If you love Supernatural, Twilight, and miss your Wattpad era, this book is for you! There's a love triangle similar to Twilight. I enjoyed the premise and parts of the romance, but the characters sometimes felt distant, and the supernatural action didn’t really kick in until the last 20%, which left the werewolf element underused. Fun read, but a bit flat overall.
Reading this, the 2 brothers gave me Dean and Sam Winchester vibes. I felt like I was reading something from supernatural with hunters, werewolves and other beings. I loved that the FMC was easy to connect with.
Managed to finished reading in a few days, it’s a fast paced book, reminded me very much like supernatural, I love a werewolf book, but some points in the book was confusing as I couldn’t tell who was talking or thinking. Overall I enjoyed it
A story about found family and some supernatural beings! That ending has me anxious for the next book in the series!! Thank you, @talesandteacupspr and @amelia.lewis.author for the arc!
Mystics & Mayhem it was definitely a good read made me tear up in a few chapters and laugh as well. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends to read
*I was given this book as an eArc but my review is based solely on my own thoughts and opinions*
I gravitated towards this book because it said it was based off of supernatural however at times it felt too much like it, too many similarities. I was excited to have it kind of be in the realm of the show however a new story, this was two charming brothers, they work on cars, grumpy albeit supportive father like guardian, father gone most of the time trying to seem justice for their mother. Hmmm.
It gets really confusing at times because it’s written with everyone’s perspective, one sentence it will be Mara and then the next it’s Carter thinking something.
Mara while funny and cute, for her age, she does seem very juvenile at times, kind of like spoiled only girl syndrome so at times it was not endearing but then sometimes it was fun.
Haha it kind of reminds me of twilight, like pick a side, Carter or Logan?
I think it was hard for me to not think of supernatural reading this and of course I wanted to root for Logan “dean” but I liked Carter so I was just all over the place. The ending was interesting, not quite sure what happened haha I think I have an inkling.
I started and completed this book in 3 hours. This is a fun, engaging story with characters you instantly like. Besides the werewolf and fmc, alot of the storyline with Logan and Asher was similar to that of Sam and Dean Winchester in Supernatural. If you're a big fan like I am, then you'll definitely enjoy this book. Let's not even talk about that cliffhanger👀
