Cade.

He had her love. Her devotion. He destroyed her with it!

Years I loved Faye Avery from a distance, watched my brother have something he didn’t deserve. She was always too good for him. Dante had a need for control and that grew with him from childhood, infecting her to bend to his whim.

When Dante abandoned her, the girl who put his future and needs before her own, I rediscovered the girl who lost herself to the heartache. She blossomed and flourished in the light of the love she deserved - until he robbed me of her. Breaking her down, dimming the essence of the woman she had become.

Dante had a darkness inside him that led him down a path of depravity. He was too far gone. He functioned on corruption, humiliation, power and retribution, and all for something that never happened.

What he forgets is this! I not only wear his face, I carry the darkness inside of me too, and my wrath will coat him with it so thick he will drown under the rain of my reckoning.

He wants Star, a memory of a girl he used to know. He stole Faye, a woman who owns my heart and is the cadence in mine.

I will find him.

I will find him. I will take her from him.

And then I will kill him.

Whew! What a twisted, sick story this is! Talk about a mindf#@k!

I dived into 'Cadence' immediately after finishing 'Facade'. Just like it's predecessor, this book sucked me right in and held on tight. I could not put it down!

This book continues the story right where it left off at the end of 'Facade'. Star, aka Faye, has her memory back and comes to realize the full extent of Dante's betrayal. She wants nothing more than to escape his clutches and return to the man she really loves, his twin brother, Cade.

However, now that she has her memory back, she is faced with her own traitorous actions. She has unwittingly betrayed the man she loves in the worst possible way. Her moments of weakness have provided Dante with the means to keep her entrapped indefinitely.

When Faye finally manages to leave Dante, her freedom is short-lived. He still holds all the power and she is coerced into returning to his island fortress. She'd sacrifice herself to spare Cade the pain of her betrayal.

Despite Faye's best efforts, Cade refuses to be so easily swayed. He is determined to fight for the woman he loves, even if the cost to those he cares about is more than he'd ever imagined. He won't give up until he has her back and Dante has paid for what he's done.

Overall, this book had far more action than the first, but was every bit as depraved. Dante isn't the only monster in this book, nor is he the only one with a few surprises in store. This book is full of twists and turns.

I loved this book and only dropped it to 4 stars because of the frequent grammatical errors. With some minor editing, this book would have been a 5 star read for me.

That being said, this is not a series for the faint of heart. It is a dark, erotic story. There is a LOT of violence, degradation, abuse of every imaginable kind, etc. It is not a unicorns and rainbows type of story. It deals with controversial and offensive subject matter. If you can't tolerate such topics, this will not be an enjoyable read for you.

3.5 CADENCE STARS ★★★☆

"You once told me I was the cadence in yours, well you're the cadence in mine too."

After putting down Facade back then, I still remember how befuddled the book left me and it took me a good while to pick back up my jaw with the ending our maniacal authors left us. The revelations were mindblowing that I knew I just had to do dive in into the sequel when I had the chance, so imagine my excitement when I had my hands on this.

Again, this is just one of those books that divulging the plot details is unnecessary, so it's best to go in blind. Cadence picks up right after the events of Facade and with the shocking revelation that it left us with, we are thrown into a whirlwind of events depicting the aftermath of it. We see how torn up these characters are and how they all struggled to come to terms with how things are being played out.

"I knew he saw the side of me that had been hidden for years; the monster that resided in the darkest sides of me, slowly peeling back my skin from the inside and crawling to the surface."

The duet series is driven with the need of revenge, so you'll expect a lot of it coming from this one and further fueled with all kinds of deceit, manipulation and lust, this sequel will leave you second-guessing everything. Similar to the first one, these two authors sure bring their A game when it comes to writing those dark and gritty scenes; some rather graphic and violent, so better be prepared to put some big girl panties on.

However I didn't love this one as much as I did with the first although I'd probably blame myself for expecting too much after the state in which Facade left me in. Moving forward with the events of Book 1, I guess it is to be expected that the story will move in a different direction and having it told from another perspective. And while it still does retain some unpredictable twists throughout that knocked me off, I was left feeling rather underwhelmed by some of the events take took place as they came off predictable for me.

Overall if you're looking for a duet series that brings out the dark and gritty with a side dish of mindfuckery, then look no further. Cadence definitely gives the closure that the readers will be seeking for since Facade and whether you're on #teamdante or #teamcade, you can expect a rollercoaster ride with this one and an ending that will leave you feeling bittersweet for these characters.

Cadence is the sequel and conclusion to a 2-part series jointly written by Ker Dukey & DH Sidebottom. It cannot be read as a standalone and must be read after Facade.

“Cadence” is book 2 in “Deception” series by D.H. Sidebottom and Ker Dukey and picks right where the first book “Façade” ended.

To say that I’m disappointed with this book will be a big understatement. I don’t think I read a dark romance/erotica that disappointed me as much as this one did. And I can’t believe I will say this (after loving the first book), but I was beyond frustrated with what’s going on in this part and more than that, I was a little bored too.

This book was my forth book by Mrs Sidebottom and am second book by Mrs Dukey, so when I’m telling you that these ladies can write I’m not lying. These authors definitely know how to write a dark and gritty romance. If I loved the first book in the series, “Façade”, this one felt a little flat. After the big revelation in book 1, where we find out who Cade is, an interesting twist that left me intrigued and wanting to know how everything will progress, I was expecting this book to blow my mind. Clearly, my expectations were too high.

description

There’s a lot going on in this book – manipulation, secrets and some new twists and turns and also some dark and violent graphics – but for me there was too much going on. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed! My main problem here was the plot. At times it was all over the place. Also, some events are very predictable. If the first book’s plot blew my mind and kept me on the edge of my seat, here, the plot is just...meh!Not only some events are predictable, but they are very rushed too.

What was interesting was how Faye’s character is developed in this second book. She definitely is different than the first book. She knows who she is and what’s the reality and what was the façade and she's determined to fight and survive. When it comes to Dante’s character and Cade’s character I expecting something more. First I didn’t understand from where Dante’s darkness came from. I wanted to know how he became a psycho, cause the fact that Faye didn’t look for him when everyone thought that he died, is not enough for me to understand that. Not for me anyway!

Cade’s character wasn’t developed enough for me to like him or to feel something for him. He “tells” how he loved and still loves Faye and blah, blah, but I didn’t “feel” their love at all. Also I didn’t feel his struggles, his inner turmoil....nothing! Another thing that I didn’t like about Cade's character were some of his lines. At times they are way too sweet ( and sometimes cheesy) for my liking. Let’s not forget this was supposed to be (and in the ned it is) a dark read. When I read a dark romance I expect something that only dark romances have. Duhh! So, if I want sweet and cheesy I pick up a book that I know it’s sweet and cheesy.

All in all, this a nice enough read! Not as good as the first book, but interesting enough to recommend this series if you want something dark and twisted.

First of all I'm going to try my hardest to keep this review spoiler free as much as I can, saying that at the end of Facade (Deception, #1) by D.H. Sidebottom we were given one mahoosive and gobsmacking ending and because of that ending there's no-way I can review this book without talking about that as this book IS about that ending, therefore.

1. IF YOU HAVEN'T READ FACADE- Go away read it and come back.- My REVIEW; http://bit.ly/12PhQvB
2. Or you don't mind reading my thoughts anyway.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED....

Well well well what a book, If I wasn't gobsmacked and simply awed by the minds of Dukey and Sidebottom in Façade I sure as hell am questioning their sanity In Cadence this is one screwed up but powerful story that at the end has a underlying message behind the book and I am finding myself questioning what the feck happened I am also here asking myself what people actually do and crave love for or more like how far they will go.

Here we now have three characters 1. Zante 2. Cade (Twin brothers) and 3. the source Faye/Star.

Let me explain the Characters in some form of depth.

 photo 238DA9FB-955C-47E8-AF94-687FE431A559_zps81t6my3a.jpg

Zante
Zante is what I see as the evil/devil twin he is twisted and in his mind he loves Star, what in reality he craves is to possess her. He is so focused on retribution and payback for a mistake and a decision she made when they were youngsters that he doesn't see anything else, he see's blood and thirst POWER, CONTROL and then GREED. There's always two sides to a story though right? but here Zante see's his side only, here in this final instalment you see Zante playing a mind game that manipulates and takes advantage of Star as he calls her, she is his to do as he pleases that includes times he's not always with her as he has the power to control the mind and that he does well or so he thinks.

 photo 017EAD17-1165-4169-8D1D-D22494066A68_zpsqyx0kvbt.jpg

Cade.
Awww from page one I saw Cade as the hero the true sole of the book, the one that brought life joy and even a lightness that helped the dark balance itself. Cade is Faye's love and the one that she wants the one that can truly love her the way she needs, I can't really explain him any other way than that he isn't pure-per-se but he is pure in his strength mind and love for Faye that is the core to the story. There is a gentleness to his touch a distinguished difference to his touch that was different to Zante that I did nothing but love him-A true hero. He is protective, loving caring and will fight to the death of the one person he loves throughout. What I can say here there is a lot of brutal dark parts to this story to be aware of in those moments be aware of Cades lightness he really pulled me through and for me when reading his side to the story his chapters and feelings I took and deep breath in again and was able to breath out.

Faye.
What a doll a caring beautiful lady and while she was protecting the person she loves she needs to I suppose do it that way she feels in order to gain her freedom, she goes through the brutal hand of Zante. This is no fluffy read, you will need a strong stomach in some parts, but she is a strong kick ass heroine she has endured a lot but her sprit was always there she is such a brave individual.

 photo B1F69CE0-463B-44BF-B807-99C81A7238E0_zpscvcn5axq.jpg

My Thoughts
The core and the main theme if unbelievable while reading my review is LOVE, yes believe it or not love was the reason behind everything; Jealousy-LOVE Possessiveness-LOVE Heartache- LOVE Desperation-LOVE Brother bonds-LOVE Faye-LOVE. When you love someone so deep in your soul how far will you go for the person you love? and what will you do to get that love? This book is very much to me a fight between Good and Bad, Right and wrong Light and Dark, Blood and water. Friendships, family, partners and Love is what this as a series is about it does have an HEA is does have a happy message but their journey was somewhat brutal so don't expect Fluff have a tougher skin while reading this saying that all that I un-doubt-idly loved the authors writing, I really was gripped to my seat and I really enjoyed the fluid motion of their storytelling there is a way about them as a unit that I loved and yes I will absolutely will read their books again.

 photo C2859C5C-3661-46A9-B871-4429F78EE539_zpsfqkouhwu.jpg

To sum up
Will I re-read this series- mmm maybe
Will I recommend it- Yes
Will I read anything they write again-Yes.

Well....I'm so disappointed with this second book that I can't even see straight! I didn't like it at all!
Cade was too Cheesy for me! Some things were so unbelievable. Like when he gets shot in both hands but can still use them??
I didn't feel the love between Cade and Faye.
I also couldn't believe that Faye ever loved Dante. Why she did what she did to him. It was like she had no remorse for it. I could see why Dante was the way he was. He felt betrayed! Why didn't any of them hunt him down when the knew he didn't die???
The ending was WAY over the top! The details of the killings...I didn't care! I was already bored out of my mind and the dark at the end didn't cut it!
I'm glad for the epilogue and how things turned out I guess...?!?! I don't know. I just felt Cadence had too much going on and I didn't care about any of it. lol
This also felt so different from book 1:((

I hate, hate, hate to say anything negative about this book because I absolutely LOVED Facade, but this book just didn't do it for me. I’m so disappointed. I was expecting something else.

The first book was genius, the twist and turns, the energy both characters had was just over the top for me, but with the second part?

LOVED IT! What a great ending to a crazy series!! And omg...Faye...she turned into such an amazing heroine. In Facade, she was a broken woman with no clue as to who she was. Her love for Cade, paired with her hate for Dante, molded her into this KICK ASS version of her former self.

If you were a fan of Facade, I TRULY suggest reading this book! Definitely warrants a re-read sometime in the near future!

Genre: Dark Erotica
Type: Book 2 of 2 from Deception series
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

What happened when the life you dream of was ripped from your grasps? For Dante and Star it meant fighting back for what they wanted. And revenge was the only way to go when everything was at stake and especially with new players in town.

I really enjoyed book one and had high hopes for this one. Unfortunately this book fell below my expectations.

I now understood the saying dying of heartbreak. I was dying, my soul battered by the shock of the cruelty of someone I once loved.

There were a lot of things going on which could have been good and engaging but instead it was all over the place. I like the addition of new characters. However, they felt off because they came out of nowhere. I felt like I’m missing half of the book on their significance and background. I couldn’t feel for any of them because there was not enough info to establish the dynamics of their relationship.

She was everything to me, but why did it feel like she had died and I hadn’t found her? We were over.

For most of the book, I was annoyed with a lot of the characters. There were extreme changes in some (that were not fully explained), while others simply didn’t fit what their characters supposed to be. Some parts of the storyline were also a little over the top.

Cadence is the conclusion to the Deception duet. The series would appeal to fans of dark erotica who could handle graphic contents.

“Real love is sacrifice, unconditional, selfless and benevolent. Love is watching you from afar, happy in the knowledge that as long as you were happy, I would never tell you of my feelings. I would hold them inside and worship the feeling of knowing I felt true love. Love is craving your company, counting the thuds in my chest when you walk into a room because it’s the only sound I can hear. Love is the electricity that ignites every nerve when you brush against me. Love is the million dragonflies taking flight inside my gut when I hear you giggle. If love was physical to touch, it would be your form.”
- Cade

* * *
“Before I start, you need to know that I love you, with everything, with every single breath I take. You gave me life when I didn’t want to carry on, you held me up when I wanted to fall and you made my heart beat, as broken as it was. And it’s only you it will ever beat for again.”
- Faye

* * *
“She was my other half, she completed the man I was, the man I wanted to be for her. My soul was created with hers and sent here for us to find each other. Love wasn’t condemning your soul mate for actions out of their control. Granted, love is painful, the most painful thing we endure on this earth but it’s also non-judgmental; it’s shameless and freeing the other person of all the things they find imperfect about themselves because to the person that loves them there is no such thing. Love is pure, true, enduring and for me, everlasting. I would love her forever and cherish the time we had. Love like ours was strong, intense and beautiful. Nothing she did without being right of mind could dirty how pure our love was.”

Without interruption in the timeline, Cadence opens with the tone of looming danger as a deadly confrontation is now inevitable. Dante Troy continues on his mission of claiming what belongs to him, but the consequences are compounded when Cade reenters his life. As for Faye, she makes certain sacrifices to regain what she’s lost.

“It didn’t matter, I didn’t need her to love or want me. She had no fucking choice anymore.”

Told in multiple POV with past sequences weaved into the present, the depth of Dante’s vengeance takes hold. Cade is purposeful and ready to confront his greatest fears to protect what he knows in his heart, but Dante has had many years to fuel his dark soul.

“I saw no soul in my reflection. She had burned that up with her mistakes long ago and there was no retrieving it. But she would have to live with the monster she created.”

As this story progresses, various plot points started to feel a bit ungrounded. In particular, the relationships between Dante and Cade needed more development relating to the past and present, as their bond could have been even more powerfully rendered. Lastly, those surrounding Cade seemed to appear from thin air and it felt a bit unbelievable considering the world in which Dante operates.

From the beginning, I was on Dante’s side due to his loss and path for retribution. With such strong emotions, it didn’t justify his actions but his character was strongly developed and he overshadowed the others.

Though I had some major issues with certain elements in this book, D.H. Sidebottom and Ker Dukey continue to be go-to authors for me in dark erotica and everything in between. Dante will continue to be a favorite damaged anti-hero and I never gave up hope for a certain ending.

Cadence is about obsession and vengeance. This book will appeal to those looking to delve in true dark erotica.

3 stars. Dark... Sick... Twisted... This book was fucked up; a fucking train wreck that will make you want to pull out your hair and go see therapy as soon as you've finished reading it. A brilliantly written dark erotic thriller from the twisted minds of Sidebottom and Dukey that will blow your mind and mess up with your head. I just didn't like this as much as I loved the first book. I was beyond frustrated with the conclusion of FaCade. Seriously though, my messed up heart still belonged to Dante, the sadistic bastard that he was *sniffs* But after this series, I'll definitely check out more of these talented authors' works. :)

Review: Surj 3.5 Stars

Ever seen a photo of these two authors? They look like regular women, you know, the girl next door types... the types that look like butter wouldn't melt. But turn the pages of the books they write and whoa are you in for a shock. Honestly, I'd love to have a rummage around in their heads because the stuff they come out with is the stuff nightmares are made of with a twist of a love story. Yup, their books are anything but conventional and I mean that in every sense of the word so if you're looking for something different, then look no further, this series is the one for you and trust me, it will not disappoint.

Ker dukey and DH Sidebottom really are a force to be reckoned with when it comes to pushing the boundaries of what we see as acceptable in fiction and yet their words captivate us, reel us in and leave us begging for more. "Facade" was a book that completely threw me off kilt and that ending... no one would have seen it coming and I mean no one. There were no clues that I could see that hinted to anything like what was revealed and so I couldn't wait for the sequel which would hopefully give me some answers.
He played with her, manipulated her emotions until (like a little lost sheep), she clung to her master as her only source of comfort.

Well, I read "Cadence" and blooming' hell, they went and did it again. I thought the first book had shocked me but it was nothing compared to this sequel. Holy sh*t balls they scared the living daylights out of me. Trust me when I say, you'll need your big girl panties for this one. "Cadence" saw these authors take their writing to a whole new level, crossing every line imaginable in order to give us this raw, gritty and often horrifying story line. The scenes were violent and pretty graphical, the words at times even more so. Like I said, this one is not for the faint hearted but if you have balls of steel, then dive right on in and join the party.

Star, dante and Cade's Story was one marred with guilt, blame and a burning desire to exact revenge and all of those elements were wrapped up in a cute little bow I called "love." Yup, believe it or not love was at the core of this story line and it was this that made the characters do all sorts of crazy stuff. I witnessed the lengths dante, Faye and Cade would go to for those they held dear.... was it right? Not always? In fact at times it was damn right insane but at the centre of it all was that four letter word.
Granted, love is painful, the most painful thing we endure on this earth but it's also none judgemental; it's shameless and freeing the other person of all the things they find imperfect about themselves because to the person that loves them, there is no such thing.

Dante remained as psychotic as ever and the synopsis depicted him perfectly.. he was depraved, a sociopath and he had no guilt for his actions. At times, he was more a wild animal than a human and I was desperate to know whether he'd always been this way or whether something or someone had forced him to become the man he was now. Faye spent much of this book guilt ridden, filled with self loathing and blame for events that were completely out of her control. She didn't see it that way with a turn of events meaning she couldn't ever go back to the person she'd once been or the life she'd once had. I truly felt for her and the impossibly position she found herself in. And Cade.... now this was a hero if ever there was one. He'd do anything and everything to get his woman back and exact revenge on those who had wronged her... and trust me, that list was a long one.

"Cadence" took me on one hell of a crazy ride crazy ride where nothing was at it seemed and twist after twist continued to throw me off balance. There was deception, double crossing and treachery and (at times) it was difficult to work out who was friend or foe... everyone was a suspect at one point or another. Just as I thought I'd worked it all out, something else would happen to throw a spanner in the works. Some of the curveballs were fab but others not so much and (for me), there were certain elements to the storyline that were resolved far too easily and a little predictably (I guess I wanted the characters to suffer even more than they already had but that's probably the sadist hiding within me ...lo and it's just my opinion).
"I love you, with everything, with every single breath I take. You gave me life when I didn't want to carry on, you held me up when I wanted to fall and you made my heart beat, as broken as it was. And it's only you it will ever beat for again."

If you're looking for a book to get your heart racing, that makes you feel uncomfortable and makes you squirm in your seat, that puts the fear of God into you but ultimately is a love story, then pick this up. But be warned, make sure you done your girdle of steel because trust me, you're going to need it.

~ JOINT REVIEW~

Battle Twisted Sisters

Di- #TeamDante  Julianne- #TeamCade

First let me say, these two can spin a tale, right along with making my head spin. And I'm still not sure who wrote what. I don't think matters, Sidebottom or Dukey, they are phenomenal when it comes to twisted, and we eat it up every time. Here's my problem, You can't give me a Sadistic Bastard that's pure evil and not expect me to love him. I'm sick in the head, you know this. Sukey, how could you do this to me?

Julianne, what made you love Cade, was Dante too evil to love? I was thrilled with his insanity.

Really, Di? How could you not love Cade? He spent all that time thinking Faye was dead! He grieved for her but in the back of his head he didn’t feel like she left this world. He is a dirty talker with the touch of a master lover. What else could one possibly ask for? Dante had Faye/Star living under completely false pretenses, Diana. You had to know nothing good could come from that right?

What do you mean, Julianne? DANTE was a master lover too, so what if he didn't ask for permission. His unstable actions were totally unexpected and twisted, but it was hot. I swoon for his dark touches. I heart you Dante. But I did feel deeply for Cade, he loved Faye unconditionally, Dante loved her more obsessively, tough decision.

Let's come back to this debate. What did you think about the side stories developing? I was like, oh shit, they got me interested in Blue's story?!? I have to admit, I wanted all the horrific details... I know we agree on this.

Di,YES!! I absolutely need Blue's story now. Not yesterday but right now. I am willing to bet she is a freak, but in a good way. Her story is going to be a great one. I am just hoping that she stays the strong fierce woman she appears to be and doesn’t become one of those wimpy chicks that so many turn into. This series can take several different directions. I do hope we get a re visit from Cade and Faye. I just love them.

I was hoping that Faye would learn to love Dante's dark side, but it just didn't happen. I mean Cade was her real true love. I'm still crying over Dante. I guess I need to suck it up and face the truth, right? Cade was the winner here not Dante. You win this round, Julianne. I will always love you, Dante.

What a finale for the Dante/Star/Faye/Cade story!! This books shocked me into silence on more than one occasion. Dark, raw and gritty.....this book is not for the faint at heart. The revenge in this book was beyond what I have read in quite some time. I thought to myself....wow this is crazy and I LOVED every freaky page of it.

 photo PicsArt_1428552420495_zpschnnctul.jpg

Cade Troy....fierce and dark but in the most heated and passionate way. Faye is his true love. For so many years he watched and supported her through the pain she endured when she lost her first love. (story twist that I won't reveal but I LOVED) Cade loved Faye from the sidelines for many years until she finally opened herself to love again. Unknowingly to both Cade and Faye, their love was being watched and hated by Dante. That hate turned to vengence beyond recognition.

The unspeakable things that occurred to Faye and people trying to help her and Cade was degrading and humiliating. Dante is one of the most evil beings I have read about and a side of me really liked him. To see the love he once had for Faye turn to obsession and hate was intriguing to see unfold.

The ending was heart breaking to read....to see Dante and Cade come face to face after so many years and the love and bond they had at one time was there deep down inside but the obsession Dante had succumbed to was too much for anyone to live with. Dante knew this deep down inside.

" I loved you both but she was mine. I needed her."
"Promise you'll love her like she deserves."

The reality of this darkened love set in and as a reader you know this was it.....moment of silence and sadness.

Amazing series of books by DH Sidebottom and Ker Dukey. The emotion rawness and shock and awe was phenomenal. They are two top story tellers....weaving craziness into love. Nicely done!!

Wow, what a climatic finish to the first. Still hate Dante with a passion! When I think of that vile, evil cruel man, I'd like nothing more to thread a knitting needle into his nosterals and have his eyeballs pop out! Hate...hate ..hate and triple hate that man, goes to show you how much a of a writer D.H. Sidebottom really is. Very intense dark read and I loved every second of it! Enjoy!

Death seemed preferable = 1*

I saw some good reviews and thought the blurb sounded interesting so I bought this book and borrowed book 1 on KU. I really truly loathed the first one as you can see here. But the whole reason I had started to read Facade (Deception #1) was so that I could get to this one. The blurb sounded interesting and it had good reviews. Plus I actually spent money for it so despite book 1 I started in hoping it would be better. Oh was I in for disappointment.

I am not sure how it could be worse than book 1. There was less sex so that was a blessing of sorts. But sadly it was replaced with violence and stupidity. I had not minded Faye in the first book but by the end I was wishing she would have died. I nealy did not finish but it is quite short and I was stuck in ER (over cautious clinic doctor who sent a swack of us in for the same worry) and with nothing but time decided to finish this travesty of writing. I was mostly skimming because I just wanted it over when suddenly my monitor started making a ruckus and staff staryed swarming me. I actually thought "oh thank god something to save me from this book". (hence my initial statement) but of course it was a faulty machine not a heart attack so I went back to reading and was plunged into a description of torture. Not some sort of kinky sex game but actual torture of the medieval type. Skin flaying. Just really not my thing.

I won't be reading book 3.

Writing: ★★★★
Story: ★★★
Characters: ★★★

Overall rating: 3.3

After reading Facade, which I loved, *and* which ended in a major cliffhanger, I was excited to read Cadence.

I enjoyed this book, but not nearly as much as I enjoyed the first book. I think, for me, I enjoyed the first one so much more because of the darkness of the story, the strength of the main male character. Even the cliffhanger left me breathless, (and I was very happy that I got both books at the same time!). But this one just didn't do for me what Facade did. While I *did* enjoy Cadence, I think I needed Cade to be stronger than his twin, and I didn't feel like he was.

The book, overall, was well written. I enjoyed the relationship between Cade and Faye, that "the heart knows who it loves" parts. How she felt that connection to him before she even knew he existed. His overwhelming love for Faye, knowing her well enough to know that she's lying on the TV interview, and that he believes her enough to still go after her. It was.. sweet. But not dark enough after reading the first book.

I absolutely LOVED how Faye/Star used her attitude to taunt Dante. Even when she knew it was going to get her into a lot of trouble. She had me rooting for her a lot of the time and other times I wanted to slap my hand over her mouth before Dante heard her!

So this one wraps up for me with 3.3 stars, I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it like i did Facade.

Spoilers ahead:
Okay so I hated the last book yet still read this as I kinda wanted to know what would happen.
It was crazy. I felt bad for her after everything. I would've liked to see her and Cadence's relationship a lot more and how they get over everything. Also at times I'm pretty sure he wasn't very understanding towards her.
But basically everyone in this book was a psycho and by the end I hated Faye and Cade too.
The evil guy whatever he was called was again horrid to everyone. Then Faye is on a one woman mission to solve everything. I don't know.
The absolute worst part was at the very end where Cade and Faye are talking and THEY SAY THE FORGIVE HIM! Oh and when Cade is killing his brother he's sad and all 'I love you' and friggin psychopath evil guy is all 'take care of her. EVERYONE STFU!
AND THEN CADE AND FAYE SAY THEY'RE GRATEFUL TO MR PSYCHO BECAUSE WITHOUT HIM THEY WOULDN'T BE TOGETHER! Are you kidding me??!! He rapes and abuses her in every way possible but they love him and are grateful to him! Wtf?!!!!
Yup so everyone is hateable in this. And there is a lot of horrible abuse which wasn't fun to read at all, but there is a warning in both books ( though I hadn't expected it to be that bad). I can say that the book kept me interested and I got really into what would happen. I just hated everything that did happen and all the characters and Cade and Faye made me hate them with their stupid we love the crazy guy talk.

4.75 stars. This book is a continuation of FaCade. Cadence starts right where the other book left us hanging on a cliffhanger. A lot of questions are answered although a few plagued me after. Which was more than likely the authors intent. But that with a few editing glitches is why it's not a solid 5 stars for me. Regardless of that, this story still kicks butt and ends in the winners circle. A mind teaser, a page turner, a roller coaster, and gut-wrenching are all words I use to describe this superb book. This is a dark and twisted story but the emotional depth can't be missed. Some how these talented writers made me cry by the end. Fantastic book, I do recommend!
Also the next one, Beneath Innocence, which is a spin off but is highly involved with characters (for instance, Cade) from this book. ;)

I am soo Team Cade. Swooon. Forget about Dante. That man deserves to be set on fire and put out with a pitch fork.

How DH and Ker can write something like this I will never know, I don't want to know either. I loved Facade but I really loved Cadence.

This was a great conclusion for Dante, Cade, and Faye. Twisted, dark, and unforgettable, Cadence ranks five stars. I will never forget the gruesome details contained in these pages.

Phenomenal conclusion

Fantastic conclusion to Facade. Cadence answered all of our questions left open from the first book (so important, I loathe plot holes and loose ends) and still managed to throw in shocking plot twists. Much to my dismay, I find I'm able to predict most outcomes but this book had me dropping my jaw in surprise on numerous occasions. Still dark but with an underlying theme of love conquers all, this series is amazing.

Wow what a freckin ride. Loved it with all the twists and turns. This series is not for those who don't like dark, because it sure is. Loved it.
