Twelve year old Lexi Remington has a Christmas to get out of foster care and be adopted. She gets it into her head that she can take the place of Matthew Yoder, her shunned Amish neighbor, and be part of the huge Yoder clan. A stray white dog, fixing a manger set with her foster dad, and a homeless man all show Lexi an important lesson about the love of God...which prepares her heart for the biggest Christmas surprise ever.
Love Came Down at Christmas is a touching Christmas story that will cause tears and smiles. Being in foster care isn’t easy with so many obstacles to over come, but God’s love is always there. Having worked with foster children, biological and foster parents I enjoyed reading this tale. I look forward to reading book 2 and 3 in the series.
Not perfect as in perfect grammar (I found a lonely leftover "t"), but a Beautifully written story filled with love .
This book taught me something new about the story of Christ's birth . How many times I've read that passage in the Bible or sung it or listened to someone else read it ? Yet I had missed an important point about Christ's birth and Mary and Joseph .
This wonderful story really lets you know, as much as we can if it hasn't happened to us, the fear that a foster child lives with on a daily basis. But it also opens the door to being a foster parent. Perhaps I should have stayed a GOOD foster parent .
I think this will become like A Christmas Carol by Dickens . Something I will read every Christmas. I can't say I recommend this because that's simply not good enough . I HIGHLY recommend it. It's a MUST read.
What a sweet Christmas story. It was filled with love, hope and family. It also dealt with foster family, and some more serious issues: Prior abuse and neglect from a father and mother, grieving a beloved spouse and helping a forgotten homeless old man. I loved the foster father, John and how he explained to the main character Lexi, that Joseph "From the Nativity" was a foster father too for Jesus. How God chose him to be Jesus earthly father and how he could relate to him. God is mentioned throughout the novel, but is subtle and even if Christianity or Religion is not your thing, I think you can really enjoy this Christmas novella. I love Karen Anna Vogel's writing. I must read more from her, especially during this Christmas season.
Sweet Lexi just wants a real family for Christmas. When her foster sister returns to her real family, Lexi thinks that her parents will take her back soon too. When Lexi finds a stray dog that she thinks was abused like her she forms a bond and it helps her hurts. She also becomes close to an Amish granny that she helps with a fundraiser selling heart ornaments Lexi hopes that her family will adopt her because Amish don’t break promises. Lexi is in for a surprise for Christmas. I liked this heartwarming little story and if you like sweet short Christmas reads you probably will too
I had read Lexi's story before, maybe as part of a collection. I love little Lexi - this book was so sweet. I definitely recommend this book and I will be on the lookout for more by this author.
I loved reading this story about God's love. Karen Anna Vogel shares about a foster child longing to be loved by a family. She learns about God's love from her foster family and Amish neighbor. Sweet Christmas story full of hope and love.
New to me author dealt with the difficult subjects of child abuse and foster care. A young girls desire for a family, love and grace are all part of the story. Even a dog and fear of them. A lot packed in this book. I hope to read more.
This is an interesting story about a 12-year-old foster child who came from an abusive situation and the journey she makes to be becoming whole. It is very touching.
Beautifully written Christian story with interesting characters, misunderstandings, a dog, homeless man, a snowstorm and joyous news for Lexie in more ways than one.
I've been spending the last week reading Christmas freebies that have sat in my Kindle for too long--I can see why. This was a story about a foster child forming a friendship with a widowed Amish neighbor and learning to deal with fears and worries. Cute read, but nothing special. Thus, I start my reading new year with a whimper not a bang.
I started this & finished in a few hours it was a really nice story with Lexi the main character jumping to things that she think is right She in foster care after her abusive parents are in Jail she with an Englisher family but is very friendly with an Amish Grandmother Emma
If you want to read something that will cheer you up this is it

Love Came Down at Christmas is a heartwarming story of healing a young girl from abusive parents written by Karen Anna Vogel. Lexi has been in and out of foster home since her parents were sent to jail. All Lexi wants is to be apart of a normal family.

Come Christmas the secret is revealed but what is Lexi reaction? All the characters written in this book play a part in what Lexi decides to do! Will Lexi find what she is looking for at Christmas?
I was not given a complimentary copy of this wonderful story of love, family, and faith. All opinions and statements expressed are strictly my own. I have rated this book with five stars for a wonderful story that touches on the foster care system. I highly recommend this book to all those who love the Amish genre.
Congratulations to Karen Anna Vogel on releasing another wonderful story that touches on a very serious topic and love of family.
