A solid romance plot hindered by some inconsistencies...
Without Care follows Jennifer, sweet-natured but troubled high school student, burdened with looking after her neglectful mother and five year old sister at home. Jennifer’s new school is going fine – she has made a couple of good friends and her days are made interesting by tantalising interactions with Chase, the most popular boy in school who for some reason seems to have a thing for her, and another, more mysterious boy called Ayden, whose aloof behavior catches her off-guard.
But as Jen gets more involved in the popular scene with Chase, her family’s secrets, and her feelings for Ayden begin to get complicated. What follows is a dramatic and romantic story, told in multiple perspectives but with the protagonist Jennifer taking the lead and the twists and turns of her feelings the main emotional arc of the book.
