I was first introduced to this series in 2024, and I haven't looked back since. If you enjoy a good suspense thriller, Mavery Ellscott is the author for you. She has come a long way since her debut book, Shadowed Obsession, which is the first in this series. I strongly recommend reading the books in order, even though each one can stand alone, as the characters crossover and you’ll get to know all their quirks.
Shadowed Intention" is the sixth thrilling instalment in this fast-paced romantic suspense series. The tension and excitement start from the very beginning, keeping me on the edge of my seat more often than not. With high danger and high stakes, sinister plotting, and unexpected twists, it’s a gripping story that you won’t want to put down. This riveting tale is packed with drama, action, suspense, intrigue, suspicion, attraction, and even a touch of humour. The adrenaline and tension are palpable.
Featuring a psychopathic serial killer with sinister intentions, the characters’ safety is paramount. This book is an absolute must-read!

I was once again hooked throughout by a novel in this exciting adrenaline fuelled series, which just keeps getting better and better!
Shadow Defense sniper Talia is unwinding on her vacation with Kenjiro in Hawaii, when an elusive serial killer known as The Strangler resurfaces. They discover that he’s hunting Talia’s friend Olivia and determined to protect her Talia and Kenjiro take her to the Big Island. However, the psychopathic genius manages to track them and soon all three of them are in danger. As secrets are revealed and hidden agendas come to light they must fight to survive.
This fast paced, action packed novel had me gripped from start to finish. The setting brought the wonderfully picturesque Hawaii setting vividly to life, making me feel fully immersed in the story. The characters are so realistic and relatable that I felt instantly invested in their survival. I loved the different relationship dynamics between Talia, Kenjiro, and Olivia. Whilst the chemistry between Talia and Kenjiro definitely sizzled, and the romance just added to the overall story.
Although it can be read as a standalone story, there is an overarching conspiracy plot which runs throughout the series, and the characters also crossover.

Talia and Kinjaro have a nice vacation planned for Hawaii, dining out, surfing and beach time, and finally settling who is the best at the shooting competition. That is until a serial killer reemerges and not only is killing women, but he’s targeting them, too. Lots of snarky romantic banter and narrow escapes. I recommend it!

Shadowed Intentions is the sixth book in the Shadow Defense Security series by Mavery Ellscott. This is a gripping, action-packed, romantic suspense/romantic thriller with tension, adventure, danger, high stakes, agendas, mystery, chemistry, deception, intrigue, emotion, challenges, humour, friendship, a serial killer, obsession, going on the run, and a deadly game of cat-and-mouse - which all made for another very engrossing read.
This is Talia and Kenjiro’s story- who get drawn into a deadly game of cat and mouse when a serial killer targets Talia’s friend. I loved all the exciting elements that Ms. Ellscott weaves into each of her stories, she never fails to deliver a thrilling read. Her characters are such well-developed individuals, each with their own unique personality, quirks, and flaws- making them interesting and easy to connect with and invest in. I was right by their side, drawn into the story and experiencing everything right alongside them. Which, as I have mentioned in previous instalment reviews, would translate well onto the big screen- or make a great, long-running, television series…

In the sixth book of the Shadow Defense stories, we are now focusing upon Talia, Kenjiro, and Olivia to an extent. Each book brings higher risks and stakes. More criminals but still connected by something that happened five years or so ago. Kenjiro and Talia are my favorite couple after Seb and Alexis. The shenanigans these two just walk into seem to follow them everywhere they go!
Always in competition over one thing or another, the two are fierce about it. Now, one needs to be broken to prove who is the best. They are in Ridgeton, and a serial killer is on the loose. Several bodies in different places, all women, have been sharing similarities in style of murder, food contents, etc. Some are real while others a copycat? No one is sure of anything at this point. Male, female, one or more? To get away from it all, Kenjiro books a vacation for the shooting competition in Hawaii.
Olivia will be traveling with them to get her away from all the serial killers’ cases and attention. He had taken her, and she is his only living victim. He follows her. As soon as they arrive on the Big Island, things become even more complicated and dangerous. Gangs, bodies, private attacks, an ex, a new dog with capabilities that are unbelievable, bombs, kidnappings, chases, old enemies, and so much more. All Kenjiro and Talia needs is a first real date…but it seems fate is against them.
The plots become more intense, the details more intricate, the shenanigans more hilarious, the intensity between the two leads captures you in an exciting, thrilling ride you will not recover from quickly. Sit back, grab your comfy clothes, take a bubble bath, or curl up with a blanket and pillow and read in your favorite setting. This is one you WILL not and CANNOT put down till the end. Everything is so realistic. You get so caught up in the writing and continuous action. I have already read this at least six times and have only had it a couple days. It is that epic! Now, I NEED the next book~~

Gangs, bodies, private attacks, an ex, a new dog with capabilities that are unbelievable, bombs, kidnappings, chases, old enemies, and so much more. All Kenjiro and Talia needs is a first real date…but it seems fate is against them.
The plots become more intense, the details more intricate, the shenanigans more hilarious, the intensity between the two leads captures you in an exciting, thrilling ride you will not recover from quickly. Sit back, grab your comfy clothes, take a bubble bath, or curl up with a blanket and pillow and read in your favorite setting. This is one you WILL not and CANNOT put down till the end. Everything is so realistic. You get so caught up in the writing and continuous action. I have already read this at least six times and have only had it a couple days. It is that epic! On Talia's drive, she discovered she was being followed and took measures to avoid them learning where Olivia was residing. Talia led them where she hoped to be able to catch them. Unfortunately, they managed to escape on a bus. When she arrived at Olivia's house, she discovered that there was a person watching the building and that person wound up being handled by Kenjiro and was waiting for the police. Talia and Kenjiro were supposed to leave for Hawaii in a few hours. Their plans got change when Olivia was included because of The Strangler and she needed to be protected.
Once the trio had settled, the next morning while taking a walk, a body was discovered and was believed to have been killed by The Strangler. Read along and discover what steps the trio took to protect Olivia, who else became a target, who was "McClain and how it all worked out in the end.
This story will definitely keep you guessing who The Strangler was and learn who else was involved and why the killings. The ending is well done and will answer all questions.

Even though they can be read as standalones I personally recommend reading them from the beginning as the characters appear in the previous books so you get to them them and their quirks. These are romance suspense as well as a captivating thriller. These books are jammed with action, adventure, a psychotic killer, twist and turns and so much more. One thing I can promise when you start you won't be able to put it down.

This is the sixth book in this series which can be read as a standalone. I would suggest reading the previous books in this series to help with your enjoyment of this author’s writing skills. I enjoyed this author’s ability to pull me into the character’s world with ease and kept me turning pages to the end. This is a well written story about how much you are willing to give up to end a game. Talia is the sniper for Shadow Defense Security Agency is in Hawaii for a shooting competition. Before it can start, things go wrong and turn deadly. Talia’s friend Olivia has a stocker that has come to Hawaii. Now Talia and her group find themselves in a game where the only way to win is to survive. I enjoyed Talia and her group of friends. They are strong, connectable characters that bring what they got to survive. I enjoyed how supportive they are with each other. I also enjoyed watching the plot throughout which made it easy to read. This is an engaging, hard to put down story that you don’t want to miss. It is a thriller that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat just waiting to see what would happen next. I enjoyed reading this fast paced story that I highly recommend.

Shadowed Intentions is one of those books that grabs you from the very first page and doesn’t let go. Shadowed Intentions: A Shadow Defense Security Thriller Book by Mavery Ellscott. This has become one of my favorite authors and this series is amazing. It can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading these in order to get a better grip on the characters and story line. This is Talia & Kenjiro's story and its a wild one. Talia is retired Navy Seal and works as a sniper for Shadow Defense Security and they are in Hawaii for a shooting competition. Kenjiro is a retired Navy Seal as well and also works for Shadow Defense and is headed to Hawaii along with Talia's friend Olivia. The team had just worked on a case of a serial killer that Olivia had just escaped. The killer got away so they brought Olivia with them for protection. What they don't realize is the killer is following them. Not long after arriving they discover "The Strangler" has murdered another person and they are after Olivia. Trying to track down a killer while keeping Olivia safe is a full time job so they are working night and day but that doesn't stop the attraction from growing between Talia & Kenjiro! This is a fast paced romantic thriller that will keep you flipping pages late in the night!

High action suspense thriller that will keep your heart racing from beginning to end. While I don’t always pick a thriller over other genres Mavery Ellscott has captured my soul with this series and I promptly read everyone as soon as I could and this one was no different. Series can be read as standalones as each book has a different couple as the main characters but overarching bigger plot and character crossovers make it so much better when read in order as you continue to see previous characters evolve. This one is about Talia and Kenjiro’s story.
All Talia wanted was to unwind in paradise. Sun, sand, beach, end of story. Unfortunately, the universe had other plans. When her friend Olivia’s life is in danger Talia, with the help of Kenjiro, doesn’t hesitate to protect her. With adrenaline that will keep you holding your breath while your heart races I couldn’t put this one down until the end. It made for an eventful first weekend after going back to school. I cannot wait to see what this incredible author will release next.

This is book 6 in the Shadow Defense series, and while it can be read as a stand-alone without any issues, I highly recommend the entire series, if you are a fan of suspense and action in your books, with just a hint of romance and HEA thrown in to each one.

The kills stopped for a while, and recently started again...but did they really? Kenjiro is trying to turn his families illegal ties legitimate, but not everyone is as happy about that as he is. While the trio try to solve this case, they have some interference from a lot of different places, and many of them are not necessarily where they expect. One thing they will all learn the hard way is to be careful who they trust, because not everyone is who you think or remember them to be.

I normally don't pick up books like this and read them. But I decided to give it a try and was so glad that I did. The reason I don't normally read them is I like suspense and mystery but not into thrillers or books with a lot of murders. However, I am so glad that I picked this book up and gave it a chance. It didn't get graphic about the murders but it gave you enough information so that you could possibly help them solve it.

Gob smacked, blindsided and floored! Major twist I didn't see coming and never guessed the perp. Went down the wrong path following possible red herrings. Twisted tale of evil and good with in the modern world, gangs, corruption. The strangler after Olivia. Talia and Kenjiro are going to Hawaii for a shooting competition, I mean come on its a competition of course they are going. They convince Olivia to go with them. There is so much happening in this book, the slow burn romance is a winner. The snark and women just as competent as men. All the while trying to keep Olivia safe there is a secondary plot causing issues. Just 100% kick butt book. Thank you for the advanced copy. This book is full of twists and turns and unexpected snags that you don’t see coming. The writing is smooth and easy to follow, without any crazy technical terms or phrases to gum up the story.
This was a page turner that I had a terrible time putting down. I am a huge fan of mystery but the amount of romance and humor sprinkled throughout this one makes it enjoyable and completely unexpected. I am looking forward to moving backwards and reading other worlds by Mavery Ellscott.

Shadow Intentions is the 6th installment in a Shadow Defense Security Thriller series. You could read it as a standalone, but I highly recommend that you read them all as Shadow Obsessions has character crossover. This fast-paced romantic suspense starts out strong and will have you on the edge of your seat, the excitement and tension all the way through out will make you not want to put it down. The characters are very well written and everything seemed so real. Each book to me has been higher risk and more intense plot. full of drama, suspense, danger, some humor and let's not forget a psychopathic serial killer. The twists and turns keep you always guessing and anticipating what is coming. You don't want to miss out on this book.

This was my first time reading anything from Mavery EllScott, and I really enjoyed it. The writing pulled me in right away, and the story kept me hooked until the very end.
The mix of suspense and tension was steady throughout, with just enough twists to keep me guessing without ever feeling predictable. The characters were easy to connect with, and their interactions added to the intensity of the story.
What I really liked was how the pacing never dragged. Every chapter gave me a reason to keep going, and by the time I reached the end, I felt like all the pieces had come together in a satisfying way.
If you enjoy thrillers that keep you turning the pages and leave you thinking about the story after, this is definitely one to check out.

I absolutely love this series!! There is so much mystery, intrigue, and thrilling adventures throughout. I recommend reading these books in order, even though each book is technically a stand-alone. There are characters who pop in and out that you'll want to know more about.

Kenjiro has gone all in with being legit much to his grandmother dismay. She is traditional and isn't happy with change but that isn't stopping him.
The find themselves in Hawaii for a shooting competition, oh and they are hiding Olivia from the serial killer The Stangler who is after her.
The detail she goes into makes it easy to picture the scenes and made me want to get back to Hawaii.

Shadowed Intentions is the sixth book in the Shadow Defense Security series by Mavery Ellscott. This book is a thrilling suspense with some romance. Of course I loved it. This story follows Talia, Kenjiro, and Talia’s friend Olivia. Shadow Defense Security series book. Talia a former Navy Seal and Kenjiro also a former Navy Seal are trying to keep Talia’s friend Olvia safe from a serial killer called the Strangler. This book is action packed right from the start and keeping you turning pages till the end. I am coming into this series at this book. It was good as a stand-alone book and kept my interest but I think I would rather read in order so I know more of the background.

WOW! This series just keeps getting better. This is Talia and Kenjiro’s story as they try to help save Olivia. What started out to be a vacation, turns into a nightmare. Olivia is being hunted by the Strangler, he wants her dead. He will stop at nothing! This is a non-stop page turner. It grabs you on page one and you just can't put it down. This story is an intense and heart pounding thriller. The characters are fun to get to know, I recommend you read this book as part of a series, but can be read as a standalone. The author writes clearly and precisely. Her stories are high energy and keep you engaged. This is a must read story and series.
