I didn't love this as much as Rebel Belle. Unfortunately to me, it felt like a filler book. Though it still had that light hearted feeling, with a side of action, that I really enjoyed!

What a glorious masterpiece! Well, maybe not masterpiece, but it was a fun, thrilling read. There are times when I felt frustrated, but it was because I knew Harper was also frustrated with her circumstances. It ain't easy being Paladin! My Full review here on Fangirlish.com

I loved Rebel Belle a year ago, and I know that I would love it again, if I read it now. It was a hilarious, a light fantasy that read more like a contemporary. I loved Harper, her girly badassness and all. It was just refreshing. Miss Mayhem albeit, did something the first book never did: It bored me.
High points of the book:
• Bee and Harper's friendship
• Bee, Ryan, Aunt Jewel
• the humor
"Your leotar is ugly."

Miss Hayhem immediately opened up where Rebel Belle left it off. Harper Price is now dating her former archenemy David while Bee is finally back after vanishing in the Cotillion. Everything almost seems to be normal. The Ephors are back, not to kill David but to hone his skills as The Oracle, though there is a catch. Harper cannot be his Paladin till she completed an ancient trial that might kill her or solidify her bond to David.
Like its predecessor, Miss Mayhem is a quick easy read, one that I immediately finished as soon as I sat down. Weirdly enough, I’ve read both books when I was having a bad reading funk episode and this trilogy was there to save my day.
Miss Mayhem is sluggish at first, but once the readers get passed the first four chapters everything would fall into places. Rachel Hawkins did not lose her touch, this installment has her usual brand of snark and sass. We also get to see all of the characters deal with the aftermath of their new pronounced powers. Especially Harper, who is juggling so many things at once, school, pageantry and canoodling with her new boyfriend. There would be strong emphasis on girl power, friendship, kisses, heartache and betrayal.
Miss Mayhem is a swashbuckling filled with snark and action that will surely satisfy fans.

I love love love these books!! Rachel's writing is so readable. I kept turning the pages. The book goes straight to the point but i doesn't miss any of its humour and heart-ache. Beautifully written. action-packed. magical. I can't wait to read the next one!! :D ♥ ♥

It has been two years since I read the first book in this series and now that I'm finished with Miss Mayhem, I remember why I put this book off for so long.
This is a fun series but it's also really draining. Every chapter ends with drama, a cliffhanger, and more drama. It's kind of exhausting. I really like the writing style and I felt like the characters weren't so annoying in this book. I think the plot lacked a lot of direction. This felt a lot like a filler book and not a lot of important stuff happened in the 273 pages of Miss Mayhem.
I still liked this book for the most part. Once I stopped being my normal critical reader self, I enjoyed it a lot more.

I absolutely adore this series. While I'd say I prefered the first one, I'm still fully satisfied with this sequel. The only complaint I have: it was way too short! I needed more time with these characters and this amazing story.
I can't wait for the third one!

This was such an easy guilty pleasure book!
The drama can be summed up in this quote lol:
“And all of you running around, breaking up with each other, getting together, breaking up again, getting together with different people”
with a sprinkle of fantasy elements here and there but I actually enjoyed it.

WHAT A GOD DAMN HOT MESS PEOPLE!
No... really. It was a complete hot mess and I have no idea how I can write this review. I hope it doesn't suck but it just might.
Miss Mayhem still follows a bunch of hot messes. There's romance, a stupid triangle, death, and some other mystery stuff happening. It was kind of hard to keep track of everything that was happening. Pretty sure I wanted to bang my head against my desk, laptop, hand, wall, door, window, a freaking pole... LITERALLY ANYTHING, while I was reading this book.
I still don't like the accents and THANK YOU SWEET BABY JESUS because I decided not to go with the audio this time. HOWEVER, I still had their god awful accents stuck in my damn brain and made me cringe throughout the whole book.
Other than that, I guess I can sort of think Harper and David were kind of cute in a super cringy way. I didn't hate them but again I just didn't care about the romance in this book. I don't know what it is but yeah can everyone stop trying to find love and just be friends forever?!?
Besides all of that, I did get confused throughout some parts. I didn't like the ending at all. I don't care that people want to be normal all of sudden. David shouldn't have left. I was screaming at this book. EVEN though I was confused for like a third of this book I still can't accept that kind of ending.
God damn, I hope that the third book can redeem this one.
Overall, it was okay. Not my favorite. I was intrigued enough (by wine) to finish this book. I'm happy it's over and I can move on with my life. Now I need to read the next one and free myself forever!

Miss Mayhem is the sequel to Rebel Belle and what I loved most about the first book was that it was fast paced and fun! I'm happy to say this one maintained that same fast pace and fun quality to it!
Unfortunately that's about all I can say when I think of this book. It was fun and fast paced, but the world development isn't the greatest, neither is the character development. I was hoping in the second book I'd be able to connect more to Harper, the main character, but unfortunately I still don't connect with her.
This sequel was kind of centred around just one thing, but I feel like it was so dragged out and so anticlimactic in the end, and it could have been made to be so much more action packed instead of the pointless drama that kept being thrown in throughout the book.

As soon as I finished reading Rebel Belle I immediately picked this book off of my book shelf. I really needed to know what happened after that ending! While this was good and entertaining it was not as good as the first book.
This book takes place six months after the first book. It begins with Harper and David driving to a frat party. Readers discover that at the end of the last book when Harper and Ryan try to help David with his visions something in the room blew up. After that David was in pain. To prevent this from happening Harper and Ryan put up some Wards that will stop most of the visions from coming. Thus saving him from going through physical pain.
David does still get small visions. He predicated that the twins would go to a frat party and Abi would fall head-over-heals with Spencer. Her and Amanda will not be as close anymore and rather than going to college she would marry Spencer. Harper is convinced that she needs to stop Abi from meeting Spencer to avoid the predication from coming true. David goes along with this because it still means that he gets to help someone.
Harper goes alone to the frat party. She finds the twins and makes them leave. On their way out a guy blocks their way and start flirting with Abi. Harper yet again reinforces that she and the twins should leave. Spencer yet again insists that they should stay. He touch's Harper's shoulder and it hurt her. She then flips him over. The twins stand there in shock and Harper lies saying that she took some self-defense classes.
They leave to find David hunched over and tells Harper that they need to go there now. Having no idea what there is Harper rushes the twins into the car and they drive off. Harper texts Ryan so that he can erase the twins memories. They reach the twins house to find Ryan parked in their driveway. Harper explains Ryan that she wants the twins memories erased and that David had a vision.
Once the twins are dealt with Harper, David, and Ryan set off. It is revealed by David that they are going to see the Ephors. And that they may be able to get Bee back. Harper naturally does not think that they should be going but David is firm that this is what they must do.
Once they reach the house they are greeted by Alexander the head of the Ephors. He brings them into his office. He explains that the Ephors no longer have an interest of killing David. He proposes that they work with him. Harper, David, and Ryan disagree. David explains that he doesn't trust him after the events of the first book. He then puts his hand in front of David and he asks David to see his intentions. Hesitant David touch's Alexanders hand and says that Alexander means them no harm.
Harper is completely dead against this and says that they do not need Alexander's help. That they are doing fine without him. That David has a Paladin and a Mage by his side. Alexander surprises everyone by saying that while Harper has the powers of a Paladin she is not officially a Paladin.
He explains that in order for her to have the title 'Paladin' she must take the Peirasmos trails. Peirasmos consists of three different trails. It could test her physically, mentally, and her duty. According to Alexander the trials begin the minute she stepped into the house with David and Ryan. If she passes the Peirasmos she gets to live and become David's Paladin. If she fails she'll be killed and Bee will take over as David's Paladin. He excuses them letting them leave with Bee.
Like I said above this was entertaining but the book was kind of lacking. This was more of a contemporary than a fantasy. The trials weren't that interesting and I found that Harper passed them too easily. Readers got to see more off Ryan in this book. In the first book he was simply described as 'the good boyfriend'. You actually get to see a rather unappealing side of him.
There is a new couple that comes in this book. I wasn't too happy about it. In fact I'm starting to wonder why the romance with said couple happened very quickly. It was a bit odd and didn't make sense. Towards the end of this book Ryan and Bee make a decision that they shouldn't have. I'm not sure why this decision was made. It made no sense. But I suppose it's for the plot to move forward.
Harper's character was awesome in this book! You can see that she has grown a lot. She struggles with all the decisions she has to make and about juggling her life now that the Peirasmos is in place. She truly misses Saylor and on more than one occasion wishes she could talk to her and ask for her advice.
Her relationship with David was really sweet! I loved reading about the two of them. I was happy the Bee became more involved in the plot. It was fun to read about Harper and Bee's friendship. In this book Harper decides to inform a family member of her Paladin life. It was nice to see that she could tell this person everything and how this person was there for Harper. It was also fun to read about Bee and Harper participating in the Pageant.
David's character also goes throw a lot of growth. He is starting to become more Oracle like. And he's really struggling to avoid that. He misses Saylor and feels like he is dragging Harper, Ryan, and Bee down because of his Oracle powers. I wish that David's friendships were shown in this book. And it would've been nice if he and Ryan were friends.
That ending though! I am absolutely confused with the direction that the plot is taking. I kept on trying to re-read the synopsis of the third book to make sense of the plot direction. Unfortunately that did not help. I really hope this series ends on a happy note.
Overall this was a good book! I would recommend it to those who have enjoyed the first book, fans of lighthearted fantasy, and fans of the author.

That was a really quick read! This book is the second book which comes after Rebel Belle. I enjoyed this book to a point but it was not as good as the first book. It is really short, which I was disappointed in, but the writing was still amazing. I wish the book was longer because I wanted more. The summary of the second book and first book have spoilers, SO DON'T READ THE SUMMARY OF THE BOOK!! Usually, I found that nowadays, lots of book summaries have spoilers.
If you don't already know, Rebel Belle is about a 17 year old girl named Harper Price. Her arch enemy is a boy named David and her boyfriend is a guy named Ryan. Harper Price was really excited to go to homecoming with her long-term boyfriend and her best friend Bee. Bee realized that Harper didn't have enough lip gloss on for her big, homecoming night. The second book was really enjoyable, but not as good as the first book. I finished it in an hour and was shocked at the end. Some parts were cliche but they were nice to read. I predicted a lot of things and most of them came true. Most of the chapters ended in cliff hangers and it was driving me insane.
Although I love the characters, they were starting to annoy me. I felt that they wouldn't trust each other and they all needed to talk as a group. They shouldn't decide things without confronting the others. I felt that Ryan felt that he couldn't be himself unless he had a girlfriend. And there was so much drama between couples and friends. I really wish that it focused more on the main story. Harper needs to learn to think about other people's opinion, but I still love Harper.
A few questions were answered, but I have so much more questions. The book was still amazing, even though it was short. It would be fun to see a nouvella of what Bee had been through. It would also be cool to see a nouvella in the perspective of Ryan and David.
But overall, I did enjoy reading this book. It wasn't as funny as the first book, but I did laugh at a few parts. I recommend this series to everyone. To anyone who is hesitant to continue on with this series, don't worry, it wont disappoint you. And if it does disappoint you, it will only upset you a little bit. I still loved the writing style, the characters and the plot. It is a gripping story that will keep you entertained!

While I didn't enjoy this book quite as much as Rebel Belle, I still did enjoy it very much! This series is turning out the be such a fun, quick and easy read and I'm so glad I decided to take a chance on it as I was a bit skeptical at first!
I think what I enjoyed most about this instalment in the series was its total unpredictability! I kind of thought I had a general idea of how the story would play out but I was most definitely wrong! This book kept me guessing from page one, right until the very end. I loved all the twists and turns and some of them really quite surprised me!
The only thing that made me enjoy this less than Rebel Belle is that the love triangle from the previous book had worked out so perfectly and I actually quite enjoyed it. But in this book it became quite convoluted and kind of made me roll my eyes a couple times!

I've seen reviews stating that people liked Rebel Belle much more than Miss. Mayhem. But for me Miss. Mayhem felt like more than just a sequel, it felt like a long second chapter to Rebel Belle's first. I jumped back into the world of Harper, David, Ryan, and Bee without even thinking. I felt so deeply connected to this world and story. And Haper Price is the reason why.
I can't describe the love I have for Harper Price. As a girl who grew up in the south, as a girl who always tries to have control over everything, as a girl who enjoys wearing skirts more than pants, I feel Harper. I feel her. I felt her emotions deeply. Beyond my personal connection to Harper, she's just a well-written character. She feels whole, broken, honest, and wonderful.
Rachel Hawkins is one of my favorite YA writers for a reason. She writes whole female characters who kick-ass. Also, she writes YA books set in the South!

I really love how the same attitude and sassiness was kept in this book as you got to see in Rebel Belle. Yes, this book wasn’t as upbeat and action packed as the first one, but I still really enjoyed this sequel a lot! This book was just as cute as book one and I really loved how much more we got to know all of the characters in this book even though you don’t see David as much (which is sad), but you get a better idea who each of them are and that really adds up to the direction Rachel took with Miss Mayhem.
I understand the direction that Rachel took with this book and I’m not surprised because from book one you can tell that the main character, Harper, just had too much going on and you never really got a chance to see how her emotions were and in this book we get a really strong look on how she is just taking everything in.
This book was too short I have to say that, there was so much more I needed and have to have and knowing I have to wait till next Spring for book three is like outrageous! I really need it, that ending literally just undid me. I really hate how short this review is, but the one thing about these books all the little things that happen I can’t really go into how much I enjoyed something about this book or anything else without giving something away!! I just need Spring 2016 to get here now!

I liked this book but not as well as the first one. The ending was upsetting and I didn't see it coming. However, I'm looking forward to reading the next one in the series.

2 1/2 stars. Compared to Rebel Belle, this lacked a spark. It felt like the story was meandering and I'm not sure even the author knew where she was going with it at certain points. Also, not quite as funny and entertaining as the first book. I've heard a lot of reviewers use the term "middle book syndrome" so I will continue on to Lady Renegades and hope for better.
