Hostility has formed over the centuries. It's grown with each Hunt, each capture, each death. It's been magnified at each effort to thwart global dominion over those unable to defend against the advance of a ruthless tyrant who won't rest until the entire world is full of those who exist solely to do his will.
Circumstances have prevented outright warfare.
Until now.
The stunning conclusion to the Aliomenti Saga, Convergence reveals who lives, who dies, and unveils the final secrets hidden for generations.
I am a lifelong Ohio resident, where I live with my wife and three children. When I'm not trying to be in three places at once with my active youngsters, I'm following local professional and collegiate sports teams, or possibly unscrambling a Rubik's Cube. In lieu of sleep, I read and write fiction.
My debut novel, A QUESTION OF WILL, explores themes of technological advancement, human potential (good and bad), and the love bonding a family together. It reached the Amazon Top 100 in Science Fiction -> High Tech less than a week after publication. The sequels--PRESERVING HOPE, ASCENT OF THE ALIOMENTI, and BIRTH OF THE ALLIANCE--continue to follow Will's adventures, bringing to life the technological and Energy advances he's achieved in entirely new settings.
I am currently drafting the fifth of seven novels in the series.
I love this entire series...everything you could want in a book, historical fiction, sci-fi, some romance...just AMAZING! I HAD to read them all one after the other just to know what was happening. Now I have more questions after this, but looky here, there is an eighth book!!!!
Overall the series was a solid read. There were definitely multiple issues that could have been polished up and it's probably not something I'd recommend to everyone. However, I would still recommend it to friends who like scifi.
I enjoyed reading the books, but this one really felt like the author was either trying too hard or not enough. Every other chapter just had to end with some sort of cliff hanger or question. That tactic doesn't impress me and by the end, I was rolling my eyes at yet another cliff hanger as I ended each chapter.
The characters are the reason to stick it out. A few don't come across as individuals, but overall the author does a good job of sucking you into the family and maintaining your interest.
The dialogue improved a lot over the course of the series. At the beginning, it kept dragging me out of the book because people don't talk like that. However it definitely improved!
I think given more practice and time, this author could produce some pretty phenomenal sci-fi. I liked the books and I found the series to be in general a 3-4 out of 5. Worth the money and time spent reading them.
I just finished book 7. Will be starting book 8 as soon as this review is done. A brief aside about book 7’s typos not withstanding, it was still a very engaging book. Overall, all 7 books took me on a time expanding journey equal to none. In my book Alex Albrinck can join all the great SF (science fiction, for those not familiar) writers of old. Great plot, executed in a smooth understandable manner on a subject, time travel, that even some of the great writers had difficulty presenting without some glitches. Of course the main plot was a great love story that spanned the centuries. You have heard the saying, I’m sure, “a love that spanned the ages”? Well, consider this one such tale of love, and for good measure, there are layers that also address several other loves within this same tapestry. Great writing! It was difficult for me put put the books aside each time “life” interrupted. Thank you. Now forward to book 8! Happy Reading.
I loved the whole series, though there were better and worse books. And Convergence belongs to the better part. I think it's the best one when it comes to action though there were still parts that were confusing or parts where we had too much philosophizing which at some time becomes tiring when you read almost the same thing over and over again. But still, I don't regret reading the series. There is still "Adam's Journey" to read and I think I should enjoy it. If you like science fiction and have nothing against people doing sometimes impossible things even though they seem illogical, then this series is for you. First book will certainly catch your attention and will take you on a quite long journey through human's history. And pay attention to details because they may seem irrelevant but after few books they will become very important to the whole plot ;)
I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title. (Audible Membership)
The Grand Finale as it were, when the Alliance no longer was controlled by the knowledge of what had occurred, by the history they had lived in particular, having to be relived, in case a change would have dire affects on the unknown history not yet seen. So, they are now on the defensive and taking the game to the Aliomenti, but staying true to their beliefs, trying to cure those that had they memories changed by The Leader, and thus were mere slaves to the manipulation of that one man and his ideas. So many hidden secrets, some wonderful and others devastating.
I really enjoyed the series. The world building was incredible as it covered a period of over a thousand years and includes energy magic and nanotechnology. The characters were well written, although so many are brought back from the dead in incredible ways that it makes you wonder why any of them were allowed to truly die. O feel this book wraps the story up for me and at this time have no plans for book 8
I got the first few books free as a box set via bookbub and happily paid for each subsequent one; devouring them rapidly. My goodness this is talent. The twists and turns kept coming just when I thought I figured it out. Brilliant work Alex.
Great series - I’ve enjoyed each book as much or more than the last
A rousing good yarn! Love the story line and the story-telling. Only complaint is that the first couple of books have some amateurish mistakes- typos, misuse of punctuation, obvious breaks in logic - I hope the author goes back and fixes them.
I thoroughly enjoyed this saga, even if I had to pay outside Kindle unlimited, it was worth it...although sometimes complicated, and I'd have to retread some pages after being distracted, I made it through the happiness in Convergence! Now onto Adams Journey! All in all, many hours of enjoyment, a great read!
Really fun read, only main issue was inconsistency with things used example Phil used nanos on a guy then two pages later still in the same area said he couldn't use them due to an issue he was still in that he just used them on. Beta readers should have caught that or a revision done to clean it up. Outside of very few minor issues this was fun.
I enjoyed this series immensely. The free first volumes hooked me. Although starting at book one and reading in order is essential, each book is full novel length.
I love time travel adventures as they do keep you guessing where the next plot twist will occur. This book does just that in summing up the series and bringing an end to saga.
This series is a great detour from my usual paranormal reads. Alex does an amazing job connecting the dots and answering questions. He keeps you guessing what is going to happen next with all of the twists and turns, you are never going to be bored!
I have really enjoyed this series and liked most of the book a lot. I found the last two chapters very disappointing / frustrating but I think that happens sometimes when an author wants to wrap everything up too perfectly.
Well the roller coaster of Will Stark's adventures continue. Feels "done" with author's closing note...but, I believe there is another book in the series.
Amazing Read. Way to wrap up a fabulous series . I thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of the books. I really loved the fast pace of all the books definitely goes in the cant put down category.
I was able to read the whole series which is more than I give a lot of books but some things still confuse me big questions left unanswered, like how the hell did this happen in the first place. The thing that irritated me most about this series is the amount of time explaining how a damn water wheel works then later just throwing out gps. Gps is complicated to make more so for the naval application but how in the hell is one guy supposed to build a submarine and launch geo synchronous satellites? Maybe if you'd given him an inertial navigation system. Maybe. I thought you did a good job with the nano stuff. I cut it slack on the sci-fi basis but it seemed like a lot of thought went into the applications. The story was pretty good otherwise some decent surprises.
