Post Grid: An Arizona EMP Adventure

Rate this book
Post Grid is about life after an EMP, electromagnetic pulse. The story continues with a sequel, "Post Grid Wagontrain" - Book 2. The power grid has gone down and soon society will go with it. Kelly Wise flees the chaos of the city in hopes of reaching the relative safety of her mother's rural Arizona ranch. Along the way she encounters Jared Malloy, a sheriff's deputy. His gunshot wound makes him more of a liability than a useful ally, but Kelly is a nurse, and without her aid, he likely won’t live. They might just find the help they need from a refugee Civil Air Patrol ground team that has gathered at her mother’s ranch. Kelly and Jared throw their lot in with this diverse group. But the question on all their minds will the group’s combined skills and knowledge prove to be enough to survive? The story continues in "Post Grid Wagontrain" Book 2 ***** REVIEW - 5.0 out of 5 stars ***** Grabs you from the first page. This book literally started off with a "bang". As I have said in other reviews I am always skeptical of new post-apocalyptic fiction. I was pleasantly surprised and entertained throughout the book. I know this sounds a bit silly, but I really like that they had characters in the book that weren't young and fit and of military origin. Since I am over 50 years old, I like it when writers use our experience and knowledge to educate the young. If an "event" were to happen, a large number of the population is over 50. Characters were multi-dimensional and had flaws, a plus for the readers. Scenario was realistic. Living in hot and dry California, I swear I could feel the hot, dusty weather leap off the pages. I was very entertained and it kept my interest to the point that I finished it in 2 days. I look forward to the next installment. I thought this was a good, believable post-apocalyptic story. I read these kind of books to expand my knowledge of self-reliance and emergency preparedness, and this book gave me several good ideas. The scenario, one of an EMP attack on the U.S., can also be produced by a coronal mass ejection event. So... something to think about and prepare for, at least for me and mine!

I was honored to be a beta reader for this one and I enjoyed the book. After an EMP Kelly's life becomes chaos. This is a great story of how one family, and some new friends, come together to survive. When given the opportunity to read the edited and completed version, it was even better. A good read. No swearing and no sexual content, so I can recommend for ages 14 and up. Written for adults. I give "Post Grid" 4 stars. I really liked it. The book ends in a way that leaves it open for more. I hope there is a sequel.

Post Grid review

Post Grid is a post apocalyptic novel after an EMP blast takes out the power grid of the entire northern hemisphere. I inadvertently purchased this book, but it was a happy accident. I'm looking forward to reading more of this series.

Deciinately a keeper

Well written, characters are quite well developed. One of the best survival books. Like the western twist. Can't wait for the next book go come out.

Easy, enjoyed it.

This was quick and a page turner. It wasn't complicated but was a good story on a topic I like to read. I hope the story continues. I'll buy it.

I loved it. Being here in Arizona I really see how bad such a situation could be. I’m really looking forward to the sequel which the author tells me is only a few more weeks away!

I felt like this book was really realistic. It got me thinking about situations like this and things that could happen that I had never considered before. Very knowledgeable to on prepping. Very interesting read. I gave it four stars because there were some moments where I felt there were long winded explanations. Which I get, it's hard to fit all the information in it a way that doesn't feel long-winded. Also, I felt the relationship between Kelly and Jared was a little lacking. Maybe their relationship is just different from ones I'm used to reading.

Terrific story that kept me entranced all the way through.

Nothing negative to say. The storyline is timely and the characters are real. I look forward to the next book of this series and hope that there will be more to come.

This was not a very good book in my opinion, there was insta love, which i am totally not a fan of.
There were decisions made that didn't make sense, like .. they were talking about not having enough food to last so they have a wedding and use a lot of the food for a party. this is what I would call nothing but a fluff piece.

It's just... not good.
Things just falls into place, people are at the right place at the right time, and fall in love at first sight - and it's just a book of tips on how to preserve food and on basic prepping disguised as a novel filled with uninteresting characters. Extra point for being quite believable on the EMP-part of things.

Good read

Nice story of EMP ruin but not so bloody and heart rendering. Seems they didn't take advantage of things that were left behind as much as they could have. Was looking forward to a nice sex scene at the end but alas, was not to be.

Interesting

Certainly a different view of what could occur if our grid were knocked out. Concrete ideas on the benefits of country living in emergency situations.
