Growing up in hard and gritty Do-Or-Die Bed-Stuy had been a tough and often perilous road for Justin Wilde and his brother Tony, but they refused to succumb to life’s vicious blows. Left as virtual orphans by a father doing a terminal bid and a mother who became strung out and gave up, they were left to fend for themselves. Since well-paying, gainful employment had shut its heart to these young men with minimum skills, they quickly find their niche in easily gotten drug money; slinging on the corner for a flashy old school dealer named Cicero Thomas and making undesirables disappear. They are known on the streets as Cutty and Crush.Life hasn’t been easy, but they’ve always been smart. When they’re made an offer they can’t refuse by Prometheus Burns, an upstart from Trinidad with primo product, they start on a course for a takeover that will leave a major dealer bodied and put them in position to have the venerable status of true drug lords; but coups are not always easy. Sometimes a war must be fought to reign supreme, but Cutty and Crush are more than ready to rise to the occasion with their old friends Shade and Josie to help clear the path. The kingdom of the original gangster and old regimes are at hand. The time has come for Brooklyn Boys.

There were way too many typos, and inconsistencies in this story for me to think the author had it professionally edited. At one point the author changed from past tense to present, then back to past tense.
These guys, the Brooklyn Boys, which happens to be three guys, and a girl were marijuana dealers. They worked out of the Bushwick, and Bedford Stuyvesant sections of Brooklyn. They made enough money for four people to survive off of, buy guns, and diamonds. You don’t believe me do you? It gets worse.
I read 60 percent of the story before getting a description of one of these so called, Brooklyn Boys. It wasn’t until the end of the story that I got a little background of the brothers.
One of the Brooklyn Boys referred to someone as an "antiquated boss." The vocabulary just didn’t seem to fit a thug. But, I thought ok. Maybe this guy reads a lot in his spare time; when he’s not killing people.
The author drove me crazy with the names. The author sometimes referred to the characters by their government names, and other times by their street names. Once the author used a government name, and street name together, “Cutty Wilde.” I was so confused. I thought the author must be confused as well
These, Brooklyn Boys were in several shoot outs, and only once was one of them shot. Shortly after the guy was shot his boss asked him to help move a body. Then they go home. I assumed the author forgot that one of the characters was shot.
These guys had shoot outs in tenement buildings. They walked the streets with assault rifles. Respectable women knew that these guys were murderer/drug dealers, but dated them anyway. Go figure!
I gave the story two stars, because I did want to see how they handled their ex-boss Cicero; whose name stayed consistent throughout the story.
Normally I am not a fan of gritty novels. Give me romance, suspense or dramatic thrillers and I'm happy. Fortunately for me, I am a big fan of Sabrina A. Eubanks, and having read seven of her novels, decided to give this one a try. Well, surprise, surprise! This book was full of grit, drama, suspense and romance. From beginning to end, it was a non-stop ride into the street life of four unforgettable characters. These characters shared an unconditional love that comes so naturally, they could teach a class on survival, love and loyalty. Don't get me wrong, they are not nice people, (street thugs), but this author's smooth writing style manages to give these characters depth, and make them likable. To add icing to the cake, Brooklyn Boys takes place in a neighborhood that I grew up in. Oh yes, I can relate. Having said all of that, I am definitely looking forward to the next installation.
I absolutely Loved it.... I especially liked actually knowing all the locals in the book being a former Brooklyn girl myself. nowwwww to.... . CCSJ ....CUTTY...... CRUSH...... SHADE..... AND JOSIE... The Real Deal.... they remind me of How the old school come up gansgters Did it back in the day (Well How the movies portray them)... smooth but deadly... I can't wait to see what happens next.... Another perfect Hit.. Ms Eubanks....
Sabrina has done it again this was a REAL BANGER good from the beginning to the end. I can't wait for the next installment. Then Brooklyn boys and girl is not to be played with especially Cutty.
