Nick McCarty’s new boss opens the keys to the kingdom for the coldest blooded killer he’s ever met. Deciding when fighting psychopathic murderers and terrorist cells hell bent on America’s destruction, there is one old football cliché that fits – winning isn’t everything… it’s the only thing. Nick’s book tour turns into a bloody rampage, leaving little doubt he embraces his boss’s new management style. Returning to his Pacific Grove refuge with family and friends, Nick decides to bring his deadly business more into the open… and business is good.

BONUS... short story with Nick McCarty and his daughter Jean on a future mission together.

Book 4 - Bloody Shadows (Released MAY 15, 2015
Writer/Assassin Nick McCarty faces off with traitorous blackmailers, terrorist sympathizers, the Seattle ‘Ripper’, and powerful entities hell bent on either recruiting the most cold blooded killer in the land, or killing him and his family. They find out in terrifying terms when you go after the Terminator, you had better get him with the first strike. Because after you miss, he plays hard ball without mercy, and without hesitation.

Taking quirky to the extreme, Nick cuts off his trouble free vacation time in favor of a rapid fire series of spider webbed events. He leads what CIA Director Paul Gilbrech thinks of as Nick’s team of cartoons, The Unholy Trio, into one deadly action after another. From a criminal consultation with the local police becoming a mugger gang execution to a simple recon of a suspected Isis training center turning into a war zone, Nick repairs problems with deadly proficiency.

Bonus Story – Also another free Nick and Jean future bonus story with romance, violence, political intrigue, and of course much humor.

This is the third entry in the Nick McCarty series of Assassin books. If you like almost non-stop action with a high body count, coupled with both dark and occasionally broad humor, this is likely to be a good series for you. Nick McCarty is frequently referred to throughout these books as a cold blooded psychopath, both by himself and by others, but he does have friends and family that he will do anything to protect. In taking out the bad guys, though, he shows no hesitation or remorse, and he clearly enjoys a level of brutality that would make a lot of folks wince. He particularly enjoys the bad guys getting their just comeuppance. By the way, Nick is also a best-selling pulp fiction author whose books are based largely upon his own experiences. Some of the funnier scenes in the book involve Nick’s interaction with folks at his signings. This is my favorite series by DeLeo.

extreme right wing views, violence, torture, brutality, vigilante, and a sad moment re-read in july, 2017. Re-read yet again in january, 2018! Stil I a good story. Especially the lagniappe short story of a grown up Jean and middle aged Nick. Guilty plrasure. Re-read June, 2019. Re-read yet again in 2020 during quarantine for covid 19 pandemic. Comfort reading.

Hello El Kabong

Nick and Gus add a partner in the reformed John Groves. They begin fighting the Isis extremists. The cartoons begin their new mission to prevent terrorists from gaining a foothold.

We lose Carol and all are affected by her death. Dan plays a part in taking down a traitor.

Nick shows a vulnerable side and reveals how much Dan and Carol have influenced his evolution. No longer the person he was....a psychopath with a moral compass?

We need to as PATRIOTIC AMERICANS, decide to empty our USA of these USELESS idiots! Muslims must either take out their INBRED brothers or we will. We old ones were raised thinking communism was going to destroy us but ISLAM TOOK THEIR PLACE. Muslims are the most violent INBRED society in the WORLD and their violence shows it.

Marvelous series.

This series of books is very good. I am terrible at reviews. I am retired with a lot of time so reading books is what I do now. I'm averaging a book a day so I don't have a lot of time...but I'll try to do better. Thanks for the books and thanks for making them available through their lending library. I couldn't afford it otherwise. Thanks again.

When I began reading this book, I never thought I'd stick with it; I kept plodding along until it finally grabbed me. Yes, it is almost cartoon-like and not very believable, but it is, after all, fiction. The characters grew on me and in the end I rated it 4.5 stars. Partly because the characters were interesting and mostly because I like Bernard Lee DeLeo.

Enjoy, if you have read the previous books

One Moore enjoyable book from this author.
I like the characters and the plots in the books that he writes, specially since there are several within the same book.
Well done.

I'm enjoying this series!! Great read and interesting characters. On to book 4.

Loved the heroes in this series. Quite a bold story line working all the angles with multiple agencies. Hope it will continue to expand its parameters and achieve even better reviews. Keep in truckin.

Great stuff!

Total B S, but very intertaing. Good plot, fast moving, the characters are cool and retro at the same time! Cement, mixed with sand and gravel make concrete, which is what things are made of! Just saying.😁

I loved this book but I'm not so sure about the add on. I have to think about it. I cried so hard when Carol passed. That was awesome though. I was glad to see that DeLeo has a softer side. Can't wait til I read book four.

Cold blooded assassin 3

Comic relief in the by play between characters with considerable cynicism in the brutality against the bad guys. Rapid pace, almost too much so as there could be more time of living between sessions. Easy to read for entertainment.

Holy crap this was amazing. I couldn't put it down. I thought Killer Moves was intense but it had nothing on this one. There were bodies dropping all over the place. Jean was so bloodthirsty. And Gus was really getting into the whole enterprise. Even Rachael has moved past her wishywashiness and has just accepted it all as is. I like how their whole operation has moved to right and wrong and I love how much Nick has gotten into it. The comic book alter egos is freaking hysterical. And New John. Like seriously New John? Paul is growing on me as well. They all are. All these characters are amazing.

I'm already downloading the next one. This kept me turning page after page and laughing hysterically. What more could I want?

Lots of killing and plots to work through. A little more compassion from our killer this time. Looking forward to reading the next book.

So Muerto, Payaso and El Kabong ride again

Ok this series is very good and exciting to read. I love the fact that there are people who work tirelessly to keep America safe albeit in a black ops way. I know this is fiction but with the way our government leaders are handling terrorists it's scary to think we need someone like Ellsworth Muerto in the first place..In every fiction there is some truth remember that when you read this book. Mr. Deleo please write faster !!

This book is a fantastic continuation of the Cold Blooded series. Nick McCarthy and his family are always fun and deadly, and as always the novel is full of humour and emotion. Can't wait for the next installment when Quinn, the son of darkness makes his arrival.

Good action!!!

Loved this one. Nick and Gus have added new members to help them out. Things have gotten pretty hectic. They go after serial killer and Isis cells and even drug dealers. There is a futuristic short story at the end which has Jean grown up and working with her father. This was good also.

Wish for audio books to done faster

I love to reread all the books, but enjoy listening to them even more. I get my housework done faster when I can listen to them. I don't know where he comes up with the one liners, but I love them...terrific imagination.
