When Katrina Delaney heard there was a missing boy up in the Snowy Mountains, the tremor she felt brought back the vividness of the dream – the boy in her dream was trapped and frightened…was it the same child? When she was told who the father of the child was; one Jack Fairley – she knew she had to put the grief of the past seven years to one side to help find Jack’s son.

Jack had been riding the silver brumby in the rodeo while six year old Nick had been watching from the sidelines; but when Jack’s event was over, the face he wanted to see wasn’t where it should be. With rising horror, Jack realized Nick was nowhere to be found. Frantic, he called the police – immediately the search commenced on the surrounding land; through the valleys, beside the lake. Jack wouldn’t let his thoughts go there; Nick couldn’t swim…

When Katrina arrived at the homestead, she was nervous about her meeting with Jack. But she was determined to put it aside to help find Nick. Jack’s scepticism was heightened even more when he saw who had turned up to help – he hadn’t seen Katrina for a lot of years and the heartache was still raw. When the flicker of attraction hit them both, they individually realized the spark was still there between them – Katrina refused to go there; find Nick, go back to Sydney and get on with her life – that was her aim. She didn’t trust Jack; and he certainly didn’t trust her…

Would Nick be found safe? What would happen when buried secrets began to surface? And why did Katrina feel a distinct connection to the area she was in?

I thoroughly enjoyed Snowy River Man which is the debut novel for Aussie author Lizzy Chandler. A nice mixture of suspense and romance, with a gritty plot and delightful characters; the word pictures painted of the countryside around the Snowy Mountains, the chill in the air, the blackness of the night sky plus the vividness and brightness of the stars – all was exceptionally well done. I did feel the ending was a little rushed, but I have no hesitation in recommending Snowy River Man highly, and will be looking out for the author’s next title with interest.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy to read and review.

Snowy River Man is about forgiveness and a second chance of love. One night Katrina Delaney woke up from a dream about a missing boy. When Katrina Delaney listen to news next day, she realises it was the son of Jack Fairley who she had a one night stand seven years before. Katrina Delaney decided to go to the rural property to find the child. The readers of Snowy River Man will continue to follow Jack Fairley and Katrina Delaney to see what happens.

Snowy River Man is the first book I have read of Lizzy Chandler and enjoyed it, and I differently read more of her books. I like Lizzy Chandler portrayal of characters and the way they interact with each other. Lizzy Chandler ensures that I engaged with the plot from the first page of Snowy River Man. Lizzy Chandler did a fantastic job in describing the setting of Snowy River Man. Snowy River Man is well written and researched by Lizzy Chandler.

The readers of Snowy River Man will learn about being a psychic and the role they have in helping law enforcement find missing children. Also, the readers of Snowy River Man will understand the hardship and the isolation of living on a large rural property.

I recommend this book

Snowy River Man is the first published novel by Lizzy Chandler. I enjoyed it on the whole and look forward to any more books that she might publish.

I really liked the writing, the sensory details that brought Outback Australia to life. It was very easy to visualise and imagine the landscape and characters. There was an interesting array of characters - Katrina and Jack of course, Nick a young boy who goes missing and hankers for his mother. An older man who lives in a run down cottage and an imperious but old lady Mrs Harrington who reminded me a little of Elizabeth Bligh in the Australian TV series A Place to Call Home. The wisdom of the old man Murray Tom who said "Be afraid, and you'll find things to fear. But look with love..."

I was not so sure about the various mix ups and the way the wool was pulled over Katrina's eyes. I accepted it for the sake of the story but I wasn't at ease with it. I loved parts of this story and other parts just not so much. Perhaps I am not a natural believer in psychics, so that didn't help.

It was worth reading and while I have reservations, I did enjoy this novella.

*Snowy Mountains - Australia*

I read this book in one night, it's a real page turner, the plot is full of suspense, mystery, and when you're sure of what is going to happen next, the author changes the direction and leaves you again, desperate to know how things are going to resolve!

The intensity and chemistry between Katrina and Jack is undeniable, you could almost feel it, is so strong! All that in a countryside so beautiful described, you could just close your eyes and see the stars, and smell the chilly air, really, it's excellent written.

I loved it, it's a clean romance, with suspense and contained passion.
Highly Recommended!!!

A first book by a new Australian author who writes rapid-pace suspense that will implore your anticipation of the happy-ever-after these characters so deserve. Easily read in one sitting, you won't be able to stop until the last page.

Jack Fairley isn't afraid to ride a wild silver brumby stallion for show, but he becomes very afraid when his six-year-old son Nick wanders away from the rodeo arena. Jack agrees to let a psychic help him find his son, until he realizes the psychic is someone from his past.

Psychic Katrina Delaney dreams of a lost boy and knows she must help find him, even if he is Jack Fairley's son. It has been seven years since Jack betrayed Katrina by having an affair with her when he was engaged to someone else. She had really thought Jack was the one until she found his engagement announced in the local newspaper.

When Katrina arrives at Yarrangobilla Station to assist in the search for Jack's son, she's surprised that everyone believes she resembles Jack's wife, who has been dead for several years. Jack doesn't trust her, but Katrina wants to help him find Nick, so she challenges Jack to have faith in her visions.

Katrina's own personal losses affect how she feels when they find Nick. Will she be able to tell Jack what really happened all those years ago? Jack is also keeping secrets and his news may be far worse than any truth Katrina has kept hidden. Can an adorable six-year-old boy convince two adults, who mean everything to him, to learn to get along? Or will the lies be too devastating to overcome?

SNOWY RIVER MAN brings new meaning to a tangled web of deceit. Although the reader suspects what may have happened, there are so many revelations that are slowly metered out that you can't help but race to the end to learn the truth. I really disliked Jack at first. I thought he was cocky and cruel in the way he reacted to Katrina, until I realized why and understood him better. I related to Katrina's sense of betrayal and her indignation when she discovers the truth.

I was satisfied with the novel's conclusion and I can't wait to try more books by Lizzy Chandler in the future. I was particularly enamored with the suspense and that such a full-flavored story was jam-packed into so few pages. There were a few parts that could have been expanded upon, or elaborated a bit more, but I don't know if I'd be patient enough for more story since I was so anxious to find out what really happened. I found myself wanting to skip details to get to the end which is a sign to me that I was well-invested in caring for the characters. If you're looking for an exciting, quick read, with enough Australian distinction to visualize being there, then I recommend you give this story a try.

An emotional rollercoaster, SNOWY RIVER MAN is an engaging contemporary debut for new author Lizzy Chandler. Captivating suspense in a rustic setting will enthrall readers and leave them hopeful for more.

It sounds ridiculous, but I've been staring at this review for two days. I keep hoping inspiration will strike and I'll come up with some fabulously witty introduction, something that explains my interest in Lizzy Chandler's Snowy River Man, but I've got nothing. I picked it up because I wanted a bit of light reading. My brain was fried and having just come off Mitchell Zuckoff's Lost in Shangri-la, I needed something that wouldn't require too much concentration on my part.

To be fair, Chandler's is very indicative of the genre. The writing and basic story line are straightforward and easy to follow. The content is light, predictable and plays beautifully into the romantic optimism that characterizes contemporary romance. In certain circles, I see Snowy River Man doing quite well, I'm just not part of that demographic.

To be perfectly honest, the implausibility of the premise and exaggerated situational drama didn't appeal to me. Many elements of the story felt too coincidental, Nick annoyed me to no end and his relationship with Katrina felt awkward and forced. The plot hole surrounding a private investigator didn't sit well with me and I didn't like how often Chandler felt it necessary to reiterate well-established concepts.

When push comes to shove, Snow River Man wasn't suited to my tastes and I feel cheated of the time I spent with it. I can appreciate the success it might enjoy with less particular readers, but it’s not a title I see myself recommending forward.

When Katrina Delaney hears news of a missing boy she knows immediately that it’s connected to the dream she had. This has happened to her before and she’s worked with police to find missing children in the past. This situation will be different for Katrina though. This time she knows the missing boy’s father.

Seven years ago Katrina and Jack Fairley had a one night stand before she discovered that he was engaged to be married. She hasn’t seen him since. Even though seeing him now will be difficult she knows that she has to help. She could never stand by passively when she might be able to provide any piece of information, no matter how small, that might help find this missing child.

Jack Fairley is a busy single father, frantic with worry for his missing son Nick. He’s willing to try anything, even the psychic that someone has told him might have information. When the psychic arrives, Jack is stunned. And suspicious. He has reason to doubt that her motives are pure and Katrina’s arrival could put all Jack holds dear in danger. But even though he’s skeptical and disbelieving that she’s here purely to help him, he can’t held but feel that old attraction simmering inside again. And he isn’t the only one. Both Jack and Katrina have unfinished business but they have a lot of faith and trust to gain first before they can try for their second chance.

Snowy River Man is the debut novel of Lizzy Chandler and offers up a multi-layered story of mystery and betrayal to flesh out the romance. Katrina has had special gifts and occasionally experiences dreams which in the past, has connected her with missing children and allowed her to offer up information to enable them to be found. She cannot really explain her gift, but she’s learned not to ignore it and when she dreams of a boy and then hears on the news that a child has gone missing, she knows that she has to help and so she heads out to the location, hoping to be able to better connect and offer some more information. There’s just the slight problem of her now being in close proximity to Jack Fairley, a former lover whom she discovered was actually engaged.

Jack and Katrina do have some amazing chemistry that’s brilliantly complex, for reasons that become clearer to the reader the further they get into the story. From their one night stand, Jack did see Katrina once afterward although it’s not something she has a clear memory of and because of that he develops a misunderstanding about her. He believes that Katrina may be a threat to him and his child but he’s not willing to send her away just in case she really does provide the information that may help them find his son. The more I got into this story the more I was surprised by several of the twists and turns and the ways in which Katrina’s connections to other characters developed. This isn’t a long book but Chandler has made the most of her words and really been able to not only flesh out her characters and their motives but also a lovely and engaging setting in the Snowy Mountains. I found Katrina a very sympathetic character who had not had an easy time of it, especially recently. Her dedication to using her gift for as much good as she can was admirable and she was willing to put herself through uncomfortable and emotionally painful and difficult situations in order to help.

I’m quite honestly a bit of a skeptic when it comes to psychic mediums and the like although I know police in real life have used clairvoyants and psychics to help locate missing children and solve crimes with some success. However despite my tendency towards disbelief in such things I did not find that this at all affected my enjoyment of this story and it was easy to accept that part of the plot because it really did help to enhance the mystery and some of the secrets. It was skilfully done.

Snowy River Man is a very enjoyable story populated with believable characters that possess a real chemistry, even when they’re at loggerheads. I felt as though their evolving relationship throughout the story was perfect as both of them had to overcome some preconceived ideas and share some secrets and also, accept things about the other and how it changed their relationship. My only quibble is that it probably was a bit short – there were aspects that could’ve been developed even further and would definitely have carried the story for longer. But it’s never a bad thing to want more of a story!

It was the title...le sigh. Ever since a certain movie released and had such sweeping scenery, music, and storyline, I have been enchanted by this region of Australia and the rugged life there. I didn't even give the blurb more than a glance which as many know, this is so unlike me. Thus, I wasn't sure what to expect, but still ended up with an interesting light romantic suspense and a brooding second chance romance that kept me reading through one sitting.

The story opens with Jack and his son at the rodeo. Jack takes his ride and discovers Nick missing. It turns into a desperate all-out search for a child. Jack is frantic. He loves his son and fears. Into this atmosphere walks a woman from his past. The sight of her makes him angry and her claim to have a psychic ability that allows her to find Nick is the only thing that keeps him from driving her away. What does she want from him? If its what he thinks it is...but no, not that. But, through his anger and fear, the attraction is still there.

Katrina has visions that lead her to lost children and she has worked with the police before, but this time it is the hardest decision she has ever made to involve herself. Jack broke her heart and now she has a vision of his son. He is hostile and she can't figure out what he has to be angry at her over. Then after a few encounters, he suddenly changes his mind. He wants her to stay and help with Nick, he wants to know what she remembers of the past and wants to know about her gift. She senses something momentous coming and even if instinct tells her to run, her heart wants to find out if there is still a chance.

This story is a contemporary romance with suspense and paranormal elements. The setting of the horse ranch is well drawn and definitely a plus. It is told in alternating view points between Jack and Katrina. The reader is privy to so much more than the characters as a result because the story is a journey of two people who have to unwind the deceptions and misconceptions of the past if they are to have any peace with their future. They are both equal victims to someone else's machinations, but that doesn't change the impact of the consequences falling on them. I think that is what really drew me in.

The suspenseful story plot is full of red herrings and a few possibilities for what is going on. Was Nick in danger from someone? Who let the stallion go and is undercutting Jack's bid for the proposal? Is the old man living on the property innocent? What of Jack's wife's family? So many things swirling to keep the reader guessing.

Then the romance. It was hard and would get worse before it could get better because of all the things from the past. Jack has the dilemma of what to do with the knowledge when he learns the horrible truth. He has to protect his son, but what of Katrina? He hurt her once and the truth- though none of that was his fault- will likely devastate her. He doesn't want to lost this tentative second chance, but he knows he will and it already hurts.

All in all, it was a good story. I was engaged in it from the beginning and didn't want to stop reading. The ending is rushed though it is complete. It doesn't promise more than it should based on where things are left. I would recommend it for those who like their romance on the sweeter end, who like mild suspense, and don't mind the psychic element.

My thanks to Net Galley for the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review.

If you love romance, mystery and magic (and a jolly good read), I highly recommend Lizzy Chandler's debut novel, Snowy River Man. For me, the strongest parts of the story were the vivid, detailed descriptions of the Australian landscape, the main character Katrina's psychic experiences, and the emotional connection between Katrina and the little boy Nick. I look forward to reading more works by this author.

Snowy River Man is the début romance novel from Aussie Author Lizzy Chandler. Lizzy is better known as Elizabeth Lhuede for her writing and her founding role in creating the Australian Women Writers Challenge.

After dreaming of a distressed boy Katrina Delaney is left feeling shaken. The next day she hears news that a child (Nick) has gone missing in the Snowy River Mountains and she knows with absolute certain that the child in question is the same one she envisioned the night before. But can she help find the child before it's too late? And will her tainted past with the child's father ruin her chances to help?

Children disappear in a blink of an eye. A fact that Jack Fairley knows better than anyone. One minute his son is sitting on the fence watching him compete in the country rodeo and next minute Nick has disappeared without a trace. As the minutes pass without any sign of his son, Jack starts to panic and before long the town is involved in a full blown search. In the middle of the chaos, Katrina Delaney turns up claiming to have 'seen' his son in her dream and although it's the last thing he wants to do, he begrudgingly agrees to let her help, all the while discrediting her psychic abilities at every chance he gets. Afterall he doesn't have time for this particular blast from the past right now, especially when his son's very life could be weighing on his choices.

Snowy River Man is a well written, quick and enjoyable read. Chandler sets the country scene early on and with astounding accuracy is able to maintain it's portrayal and life to the point I almost believed I was there standing on Jack's farm and seeing everything play out as he and Katrina do. At the very least I was watching the events unfold before my very eyes on a silver screen. What's more her characters literally jump off the page, warts and all. I was actually really drawn to both characters in this book, despite the underlining unease and the feeling that someone was lying...

The chemistry between Jack and Katrina is realistic and believable and something I found myself betting on as the events of the book unfolded. With tensions high and past secrets making the present complicated, all I wanted was for the pair to sort out their differences and own up to what they 'thought' they were protecting the other person from. Life would be a damn lot easier for them if they did - though I guess that's the beauty of the book, being able to see this problems and their 'quick fix' from afar. Their romance, albeit the second time around, is slow in many ways as both are wary of the other and neither willing to act on it. That's not to say that they don't instantly want each other, for even their complicated and messy past history can't stop them from lusting after the other at 'first' sight.

Although Snowy River Man is clearly a romance and holds many of the aspects of a rural novel, I'm slightly confused as where to place the novel myself due to it's many parts. There's some sense of magic realism with the psychic angle and the dream time element, but it's rushed and not as fleshed out as it could be. There's also a sense of romantic suspense with Nick missing, followed by the complications of the Brumby being let out, Jack's secretary's dealings and the Mother-in-Law and brother aspects. Throughout the novel I got a great sense of unease that something big and drastic was going to happen, and while it did, these almost 'red herring's didn't venture into anything other than a passing mention despite being drawn to the forefront of the story, which was slightly disappointing. I do understand that the book is short (coming in at 165 pages) and that not everything could be explored in such a short space but I would have liked these angles to have been incorporated a bit more into the overall story. If only to clear up my confusion and sense of being let down when nothing eventuated from them.

I had slight issues with the initial conflict of the book. I won't go into detail too much here due to spoilers but I do find it hard to believe that either character was quite so blind to what happened, and so accepting despite a small spat post revelation. I do understand the change, but it felt a little rushed. All of that said, Snowy River Man is a work of fiction and I was able to suspend my sense of disbelief throughout the story. Largely because I really wanted to know what was coming next! Chandler certainly challenges her readers to guess what's happening next, so much so that I can almost guarantee you won't pick what will happen next!

Snowy River Man is a well crafted and enjoyable read. Like the land, the characters are rough and ready to take any knock that comes their way, which is just as well because their lives are about to be turned upside down! With a dash of suspense, a sprinkle of romance and bucket loads of just great fiction you will be quickly immersed in this short, sharp and sweet tale that will warm your heart and leave you feeling content with the world at large. In other words, its a feel good story ideal for romance readers and anyone who likes a well told narrative to whisk them away for a couple of hours. The perfect quick escape and summer read.

Snowy River Man is an incredible debut from Lizzy Chandler, combining a number of elements in this romantic story. There’s multiple suspense elements, short term lovers reunited, a secret baby plus family mysteries to unravel. Plus the heroine has visions that help her to find lost people – what more could you ask for in this action packed story?

The story begins with a little boy, Nick, going missing at a rodeo in the high country of New South Wales. That night, a woman far away in Sydney has a dream about a lost boy and knows that she must help with the search. When Katrina Delaney arrives, she is shocked to find that Nick’s father is Jack Fairley, who she had a one night stand with several years ago. The encounter ended badly when Katrina found that Jack was engaged to another woman and they haven’t seen each other since. But even though Nick is found unscathed, Katrina (or ‘Katina’ as Nick calls her) will have a number of demons to deal with. There’s the aftermath of that night with Jack and working out where the pair stand now, with Jack a widower and interested in rekindling his time with Katrina. Katrina also must deal with family mysteries being brought to the fore and how they link in with the increasing number of visions she’s having.

There is a lot of plot packed into Snowy River Man, which made for a fast, page-turning read. Sometimes things were a little shorter than in a full length novel, but that suited me as I was snatching chapters briefly before bed (and in the intermission of Michael Palin’s recent Australian tour – yes, it’s that compulsive a read). I liked not having to wait too long for a mystery to be solved and then having the next problem presented to me as the reader. There are loads of issues tackled (such as multiple episodes of infidelity), but Lizzy Chandler handles them with a careful, delicate touch.

Katrina would have to be one of the most original heroines I’ve read in recent years. Not only is she a kind, loving woman but she’s come through some very difficult times that even she won’t realise the full extent of until the end of the story. There’s a part where Jack gives her some incredible news that flies in the face of everything she’s thought about someone in her life and her reaction is very true and understandable. It’s the strength and grace afterwards that really highlighted her character to me – this lady is an extremely good woman. Nick was incredibly cute, but not in an over the top way. As for Jack, he didn’t shine quite as brightly for me but he’s a solid hero with all the characteristics needed to make him likeable. Murray Jack was an interesting character too and I’d love to see him reappear in another story.

An engaging debut, Lizzy Chandler’s Snowy River Man redefines the elements of contemporary romance and makes it into an original, spellbinding story.

I also want to give a shout out to Lizzy, who sent me possibly the nicest review request I’ve received at Sam Still Reading. I’m still blown away that she read my review policy and tailored her email to me! Thanks Lizzy and please keep writing!

My review is 100% honest, thanks to Lizzy Chandler and Escape Publishing for the eARC.

Katrina has a psychic dream about a lost boy and knows she needs to travel to the Snowy Mountains to help save him. She knows better than to ignore her dreams, but she also knows the boy's father and he's the last person she wants to see. Jack and Katrina had a night of passion before Jack married another woman, but now Katrina is pulled back into his life and all her feelings for him are coming back to the surface. Katrina and Jack are both determined to do what is best for Jack's son, but that's not easy when they are also navigating their own feelings and the web of secrets that has entangled both their lives.

In a lot of ways, Snowy River Man is a typical Aussie rural romance, and, as you can tell by the cover, this is how it's being marketed by the publisher. The setting, which is so vital to a rural romance, is really well written. Lizzy Chandler has done a lovely job of bringing the story alive with all the outback details, from the brumbies to the small town, colorful characters.

This is a cross genre novel, though, with definite fantasy elements. I'm not sure if this might throw some contemporary readers, especially if they aren't expecting it to be so strong, but I really enjoyed the addition of Katrina's more fantastical storyline with her psychic abilities. Although the story definitely feels more like a rural romance, Katrina's psychic abilities play a really big part in both the plot and the internal narrative. As a fan of small town (or rural) romance and fantasy, I really enjoyed this combination, which I have read a lot more of in US small town romances, but not quite so much in Australian rural romances.

I really liked Katrina as a character. She wants to protect herself, but she's had a disturbing past, hospitalized for mental illness aggravated by her psychic powers and having lost her child as a result. She's also confused by all her feelings for Jack. She's attracted to him, but can't trust him, and she feels a pull to him, the area and his family that she can't explain.

Jack is a slightly more complicated character for me. He's a loving father and kind to those around him, but to a definite fault. He wants to protect Katrina, to the point that he lies to her possibly a little too long for my liking. He is also very cynical about her psychic powers at the start, and then changes his mind rather suddenly. All the same, I really loved their connection. There isn't much explicit sex in this romance, but the sensuality level is high throughout and the sexual tension between Jack and Katrina is undeniable.

This debut romance from Lizzy Chandler is a wonderful mix of outback secrets and fantastical mysteries, that I'd recommend to anyone looking for a small town romance with a bit of a twist.

Lizzy Chandler's debut novel, Snowy River Man, is an engaging contemporary romance, with an edge of suspense, set in rural Australia.

Katrina Delaney is stunned when she learns that the lost and frightened child she has seen in her dream is Jack Fairley's son. Seven years ago she and Jack spent a single passionate night together, only for everything to fall apart the morning after.
Jack Fairley is frantic when his young son disappears while at a rodeo, seemingly without a trace, and he is willing to do anything to ensure his safe return, even if that means accepting the help of Katrina Delaney.
Though wary of their history, Katrina and Jack are determined to put aside their differences in order to ensure Nick's safe recovery but in saving the lost boy, they just may lose their hearts.

I really like the bones of the story, for such a short novel (just 165 pages) the author has developed a well layered plot, even if several elements seem somewhat truncated. The main conflicts expose personal and professional betrayal and shocking family secrets providing plenty of dramatic tension. The suspense is well crafted and nicely paced.

Katrina is an interesting character, only recently having found some sense of equilibrium after enduring several difficult years related to a tragic loss and the intrusiveness of her psychic gift, it's brave of her to offer Jack her help, knowing she could be opening herself up to more pain.
Jack is a fairly typical leading man for the genre, he has made mistakes but in general is kind and honourable. He is a loving father and a savvy businessman though it's his rugged farming persona that I found most appealing.(I have to mention too, I am a fan of the cover model representing him - yum!)
The chemistry between Katrina and Jack is portrayed well, their simmering attraction, complicated by the past, eventually boils over in a sensual scene.

I must admit I wish the author had chosen to exploit the story's potential and developed Snowy River Man into a full length novel but it is a quick, engaging read offering an appealing tale of love, betrayal, forgiveness and family.

A heroine who is psychic... And a story with hardly any backstory (in fact - I finished it and I have so many questions!)
This is a reunion romance which brings Jack Fairly and Katrina Delaney back together after 7 years apart. We learn that these two had an incredible one night stand, filled with intimacy and love, which broke apart when Katrina opened a newspaper in the hotel room and saw photographs announcing Jack's engagement. She runs away, only to discover she is pregnant, and she never sees Jack again, until her psychic vision finds Jack's son, Nick, in trouble, and she comes to the family's assistance.
So without any spoilers - I did definitely enjoy this book. I love the references to the Silver Brumby - a childhood favourite series of mine - and the Snowy River area is a place I have been before, and one day on my bucket list, I'd love to go horse riding through that area.
But what I've found at the end is that I want more about Jack and Katrina when they first met. I feel like I want to see this great connection they forged in 'one night' - how did this happen? Where were they? Did they meet at a bar, in a restaurant, at a business meeting? Where? Unless I missed it (I promise I wasn't skim-reading) - I don't know these answers and I feel like it's important that I know so that I can 'buy' their instant attraction when they do meet up again.
But the psychic side of things is a real twist, and while I think I'm a bit sceptical of these things, I'm not a disbeliever either... but it does worry me when the storyline is used in the context of finding someone who is missing or has met with foul play. There are many scammers out there who promote psychic abilities to con people when they are at their most vulnerable.
On the whole - this was a quick enjoyable read, and well written. The description of the bush and the setting is particularly lovely.

Katrina Delaney wakes from a dream about a missing boy. Given her history of successfully finding missing children, the vision is still playing on Katrina's mind when she hears a news story about a child who's missing.

Unsurprised her vision's correct, she's most certainly shocked when she realises she knows the boy's father, having had a rather unfortunate one-nighter with Jack Fairley many years earlier.

Despite their difficult history, Katrina presents herself to Jack and his family to help search for six year old Nick. Jack is suspicious of Katrina's intentions and we soon learn that their night of passion many years before deeply affected them both.

Katrina remembers Jack as someone who seemingly slept with her despite having a fiance; and Jack believes Katrina, struggling with mental health issues, willingly shunned his later attempts to see her. Oh what a tangled web... etcetera.

Katrina and Jack were strong and likeable leads and Chandler easily and comfortably places us in their heads. The novel was well paced and plot itself enjoyable — however there were a few threads introduced which (I believe) could have been further explored, offering a little more substance.

However my personal genre-driven foibles aside, as a romance novel Snowy River Man is a good read. Lovers of the outback and overseas audiences will enjoy the luscious settings, and the romantics will certainly appreciate this love story with a difference.

First, I must confess that this is not the sort of genre I usually read. Second, I confess that I know the author. I do however promise that this is a sincere review. I started to read a bit reluctantly and was surprised when what I thought was the mystery obviously wasn´t. I continued to read and suddenly I became aware that I didn´t want to stop. I just had to know what had happened!

This novel is a mixture of romance and suspense and even if I found it a bit too romantic for my taste I must admit that it was a good read. It was entertaining and a sort of modern romantic saga for grownups. Hidden secrets, misunderstandings and longing are the ingredients. I did like the characters and the setting and I would gladly spend some more hours together with Katrina. Since she has psychic gifts she may become involved in another mystery but not, of course, in another man...

Good read. I've had this book in my library for a long time, thought it time I read it and have change from my usual. It was an easy read and I quite enjoyed it. Being a New Zealander who lived in Australia for awhile I can relate to and can visualise Australian story settings which to me makes them more enjoyable.

Snowy River Man is a short but tension-filled romance novel that goes beyond the normal Mills and Boon formula of boy meets girl, explosive passion occurs, conflict erupts followed by passionate happy-ever-after resolution, to offer depth and complexity to the main characters, and delves into the realm of psychic abilities with credibility.

Romance novels aren’t a genre that I normally read and I wasn’t sure how I’d take to this book. So, it was a pleasant surprise to discover that the writing has strength, and that the characters and plot are well developed. Rather than being superficial, the main characters have believable personalities, are flawed, and they wrestle with feelings of distrust, regret for mistakes made in the past, anguish over secrets held, and a long suppressed desire that refuses to be extinguished.

I don't read much romance these days, but this book took me by surprise. Thoughtful, insightful and with a beautiful, vivid landscape, Chandler used a storyline I don't normally enjoy and made it less about her "gift" than about its consequences and its tie to family. With a flawed hero aiming at redemption without being self-flagellating, and a heroine expecting nothing and giving without fanfare, Chandler took a potentially melodramatic storyline and made it something deeper and quieter without losing its appeal - indeed, it added to it. The child was never "cutesie", but felt like a normal kid doing what kids do.

(Spoiler alert)

Chandler didn't even give in to the temptation to make a villain out of a sad, proud old lady who'd lost everything. Well done, Ms Chandler. Will look forward to your next book.

I had a really hard time getting into this book. It started out with a lot of promise, but it just never fully captured my attention. It's not clear from the book description that one of the characters claims to be psychic, which I'm not a fan of. By the end, I was skimming just to finish.

I received a free galley of this book through Net Galley in exchange for my fair and honest review, which I have given.

There was always something to make you go while reading this novel, I enjoyed it a lot and I found it hard to distinguish between I'd as shortcut, either is I would/ should or had. As an Arabic speaker reading Australian novel for the first time, I let myself in the flow of her writing, so much details to describe a rural plot. Beautiful story, love, intimacy and a bit of sweet romance. I noticed that the ending was a little rushed but it doesn't really affect the plot.
Thank you to Lizzy Chandler for her gift, I simply enjoy it.

I really enjoyed this story it has a lot of twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages the setting is so lovely heroine Katrina Delaney has physic powers and for some reason they have been coming more often when there is a little boy lost and one of them brings her to The Snowy Mountains in NSW and this starts a very emotional journey to a HEA with Jack Fairley and a re-kindled love with lots of secrets unravelled. A very good story that I highly recommend.
