When your best theory on a new case is ghost ships... you know there's a serious problem.
Well, I'm not really sold on the ghost ship theory just yet. But the fact remains that crewmates keep going missing on open waters, and no one seems to know why.
Nothing this water-loving detective can't handle. That is, until I uncovered a whole world I hadn't known existed. And that I'm a part of it. AND so is my sexy new partner.
No matter what, something fishy is going on down at the wharf... and I'm determined to get to the bottom of it.
G.R. Loreweaver brings to life worlds filled with PNR menage and lots of delicious twists.
When she isn’t creating characters that we love--only to be mean to them--she likes to spend her time watching movies or playing video games. She adores all things purple and can usually be found spending time with her amazing husband and crazy kids, most likely with her toes in the grass.
Fin keeps having these strange nightmares that are often the same and have her frequently waking up with the taste of salt water in her mouth. It’s all so so strange. She’s trying to enjoy her day off, but she gets a call that she can’t ignore as she’s one of the few detectives in her small sea side town. Today is one of those days that happens that cause a person’s life to change completely, she just doesn’t know it yet.
This was a fun novella that I gobbled up rather quickly. It’s hard to give to much of a review on novella’s, because they are shorter and it would be easy to give things away on accident. So, it was a good short story pack to the gills with all kinds of mystery and adventure. You won’t regret picking it up.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (and a salty little bonus star for Lob)
I must confess, I thought I’d seen it all. As a seasoned reader of PNR—been there, kissed that, battled the supernatural ex—I’ve danced through every familiar trope in the book. And then Something Fishy swam into my life, and let’s just say… I did not see it coming.
G.R. Loreweaver, in all her wonderfully chaotic glory, has delivered a tale that’s equal parts cozy mystery, paranormal mischief, and pure, unfiltered Loreweaver madness. The kind that grabs you by the brain, makes you laugh-snort like an unhinged seal, and leaves you sitting in a daze, wondering what just happened—and why you loved every second of it.
There was a tah-dah moment so deliciously unexpected that it swept every half-baked theory I had straight out to sea (pun absolutely intended). The plot twists hit harder than a rogue wave, and I devoured the entire book in one sitting, with my TBR list weeping quietly in the corner.
The characters? Divine. Quirky, heartfelt, sharp, and totally unforgettable. And then there's Lob—the “cat” (quotation marks very much required)—who absolutely stole the show. I won’t say more, because spoilers are a crime punishable by literary law.
To sum it up: Bravo, G.R. Loreweaver. You’ve done it again. Something Fishy was more than worth my time—it was the hilarious, emotional, slightly unhinged escape I didn’t know I needed.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to restock my tissue box and apologize to my neglected to-be-read pile.
Definitely make sure to read the trigger warnings lovelies as your mental health matters. That said, this story while on the shorter side really does pack a punch! Loreweaver added so much detail into such a short read and did so AMAZINGLY!
It was my first time diving into this particular type of story with sirens and such, but it was quick to capture my attention! It has a love story, packed into a whole mystery! And that mystery had me making assumptions about Fin, weather or not they were true I won’t say. I’ll leave it to you to read and find out for yourself!
The characters had quite a bit of depth as well. And the world building was enough to make me feel like I was a fly on the wall. Loreweaver has an amazing way of just dragging you into the worlds she crates.
There was a hint of spice at the end, but the main focus of this novella was definitely the plot. Which I can fully appreciate! One pepper out of five.
Absolutely beautiful cover, just amazing. So you look at the cover and think yeah, there's going to be fish in the story. Hah! Not! There are fish, but not in the way you'd think. I loved the mystery surrounding this story. Finnley, or Fin as she likes to be called, is the town's best detective and has to figure out why the boats don't have crews. What a novel way of writing a mystery romance. I enjoyed the literal "huh?" this quick read presents. The ride Queen G.R. takes us on is amazingly penned. The clues given don't necessarily give the answers until everything is all brought together. It's sweet, haunting, and penned perfectly for devouring. One delightful line is as follows: “To be fair, yours are still contained in your shirt. Mostly.” This had me laughing and howling, just having a marvelous fun time reading.
This novella is pretty much madness, but I mean that it the best way. Fin is a police detective who has been having vivid, disturbing dreams and wakes up more often than not with the taste of salt water in her mouth. When she's called in on her day off to investigate a missing ship's crew, she has suspicions that just don't make any logical sense. She's joined at the scene by her new partner, Merrick Rivers, she's struck by two things: he's hot and he's kind of serious. What she doesn't know is that Merrick is also in town in search of his life's mate. Fin also has a cat with a story all his own in Lob. All of the characters, interesting, entertaining and more than likely hiding a secret. Everything mixed together creates that madness I was talking about, but it's a fun ride!
The plot twist in this one definitely took me by surprise. I was so into the characters and seeing how their relationship was gonna develop that the twist came out of nowhere for me. I enjoyed this one a lot.
Would have loved of the book was a bit longer only bc I absolutely loved the characters. For such a small book the author did an amazing job letting us get to know them and their backgrounds.
There was suspense, mystery, romance, a little spicy. This story gave us a little bit of everything. There's not much I can say without spoiling 😭 but like I said this one was a really enjoyable read.
I have to say G.R. Loreweaver can absolutely tell a captivating story that will suck you in from start to finish Something Fishy is no different. This book has it all mystery, action, crime, cop talk, Siren characters and some spicy scenes.
This story is a short story about a sirens and them finding their mate and solving a mystery. Fin is a detective and trying to solve a crime, while dealing with grief from losing her father.
Then you have Rick who comes to town to help and he is looking for his mate, he’s a Siren. When he mets Fin he thinks she attractive but he didn’t feel any pull to her… Or does he…. Read and get sucked into Something Fishy… you won’t be disappointed!
Finnley works as a detective and is called to investigate a strange case at the docks. To make matters worse, she has been assigned a new partner, Merrick.
This short, fast-paced read is filled with plenty of humor, a touch of angst, and a fresh take on shifters and fated mates.
Poor Merrick has spent 11 years searching for his mate, and I couldn't help but feel for him.
Fin is a detective who gets called in on her off day for a case. A ship came back to the harbor without all the fishermen except 1 who is in a trance like state. Rick is a siren looking for his mate. He has been searching for 11 years. Rick is Fin's new partner. Rick does end up finding his mate. Fin does find out what happened to the fishermen as well as her father, who died a few years earlier
This is a short novella about a lady detective finding her other half literally and figuratively. It has humor, mystery and an adorable familiar. There is also a sprinkling of spice at the end. It ends in a HEA.
I loved this fun quick read. It was a great novella with mystery, romance and twists. G.R. Loreweaver is an amazing story teller the novella kept my attention all the way through. I can't wait to read whatever she writes next.
G.R. keeps you guessing with this book. I was not expecting for Fin to turn out to be something other than the dective that she is. I liked that everything was revealed in the book and that there were laughs to be had when Fin found out about everything.
Fin is on a case involving mysterious boats and their crew or disappearing crew I should say. She has new partner that she is extremely attracted to and inner monologue lol. The story is original and the title says along not only with the characters but the mystery.
This was an amazing shot story full of mystery and romance. You will be hooked from beginning to end with all the twist and turns. You will think you have it figured out and then bam a twist happens and now you are rethinking.
I always know I'm going to get a great story to read when I see this author's name. A short novella that is full of mystery, humor, plot twists, new wonders and a great partner for our FMC Fin. Jump in and enjoy.
This book was not what I was expecting and I really enjoyed it. It was a novella and quick read between super emotional books and was perfect for that.
This shorter read is surrounded in mystery and humor. It was a fun read but does have its emotio al momenta and it's list of triggers. This murder mystery has a bit of spice and great romance.
Great novella! I loved all the twists and turns and ta-da moments! This book was not what I expected but in all the best ways. Hard to to give too much away but definitely recommend 👌🏻
