Endurance #2

Endurance: Apocalypse

Rate this book
London is intolerable; the infected dominate the ravaged streets. Miller has gained full control and takes advantage of his authority, experimenting with the virus in an attempt to form a new superhuman army.

“Danni entered the station, the breeze was the only sound, eerily howling through the underground; the station was deserted. She ran up the escalators and stood at the top of Waterloo station. Staring along the station she saw corpses scattered across the ground. Splattered and smudged blood decorated Waterloo.”

Becoming T. J. Blake
Being a child that needed speech therapy and extra support with writing and spelling, Blake was never considered to be a child who would enjoy the craft of writing.

His passion for writing lopsided slightly as school life took over. Once he completed his GCSE's though, Blake showcased his passion for writing in college. The A-Level subjects English Language and Film Studies encouraged him to write more and to continue a journey into further education; where he graduated Kingston University with a BAHons degree in Creative Writing with English Language & Communications in 2015.

The prospect of writing to entertain people across the world is something Blake thrives on. Since becoming a self-published author in 2013 with Amazon, Blake has written and published four novels, which are all available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Waterstones.

Blake on writing - "When I go over my plot, I critique as a harsh and predictive reader. I don't want a reader to guess what is going to happen before it happens that just ruins the fun, right?"

I had a plan in mind. My plan was to hold off on doing book reviews for another month or so, but when T.J. Blake contacted me about reviewing his latest work in the Endurance series, Endurance: Apocalypse, I could not resist. I enjoyed the first book, Endurance, and I have been waiting to read the next chapter in this fast paced horror adventure.

Once again, we're back in London, but this time, we follow Danni, a former lover of Tom Williams that was murdered by the ruthless deeds of Michael Miller. In this next installment of the sci-fi horror series, Michael Miller has taken control of the military and plans to infect the rest of world with his man-made virus in hopes of creating an army of super humans that he alone will be able to control. Danni and a new ally, former colleague and Tom's mother, Sarah Williams, stand in his way of complete domination.

Endurance: Apocalypse is action packed from start to finish, picking up exactly where the last novel ended. I won't kid you: this is a bloody book, but its not without purpose. Miller's war is devastating London and, as the body count continues to rise, the more power he gains.

The novel moves at lightening speed, but at times, too fast. I found myself going back a couple of pages to make sure I knew what was going on. That said, I appreciated the attempt to write a book with so much action. Blake did his best to cut out unnecessary fluff and, if that was truly his goal, mission accomplished.

Even with this minor hiccup, I found it hard to put down this book. So, if you are strong enough to deal with guts and bloods and are looking for an entertaining compact read, this is for you. Of course I have to note that reading the first novel in this series will help you understand what's going on, but that's how it should be, right? Anyway, I highly recommend this series to anyone looking for a good thriller.
