Summer vacation turns deadly when an English teacher and her golden retriever discover murder at the lake...
High school English teacher Olivia Parker's peaceful writing retreat at Crystal Cove takes a dark turn when she and her golden retriever, Shakespeare, discover a body on her friend's dock. Worse, her college roommate Fern becomes the prime suspect.
With evidence mounting against Fern, Olivia puts her analytical mind—and Shakespeare's remarkable nose for clues—to work. Beneath Crystal Cove's charming surface lies a web of rivalry and betrayal centered around a controversial lakefront development project.
As Olivia investigates a silver-haired developer, a competing fishing guide, a resentful ex-wife, and other suspicious locals, she'll need all her wits and Shakespeare's instincts to catch the real killer before they become the next victims.
Death by Detention combines small-town charm with clever mystery, featuring a literary-minded sleuth and her clue-finding canine.
A English teacher and her pet Golden Retriever go on vacation to write a novel. They end up in the middle of a live murder mystery. A local town person who is strongly opposed to a big development project is murdered on the dock where they are staying. The suspect list is short, her friend where she is staying and possibly her! The characters are interesting and the story line is intriguing. I loved how she and the Golden retriever find clues the local police couldn’t. Solving the mystery is very dangerous. Will they be able to solve it and clear her friend before the murder get them. Will she write her book. Reading this book was a treat.
