After years of being in an abusive relationship, WNBA player Kybella, finally finds the courage to escape. With just the clothes on her back she flees her hotel room; colliding into NBA superstar Adonis – A kind, intelligent gentleman who offers his help.
An instant connection sparks between the two; something Kybella hasn't felt in a while. Adonis' gentle touch and patient nature awakens her hope to find love again. However, as their bond deepens, so does her fear. Kybella’s been conditioned to believe love comes with pain, and she can't shake the feeling that her past isn't done with her yet.
When her ex tracks her down, Kybella is faced with an ultimatum – Return to the man who once broke her, or take a leap of faith with Adonis, who promises her a love built on trust and safety. Will Kybella let her past dictate her future, or will she finally choose the love she deserves?

To be fair, my actual rating on this book is about a 2.5. I do feel like there was a lot going on in the book in such a short period and yes, I know it was a fast paced love story. I love me a fall in love the next day type of situation. I just think that with the DV aspect it was too quick ,because she didn’t even have time to actually love herself and then with the diagnosis of the cancer I was like oh my gosh, this is such so many traumatizing moments. Now the Game was definitely a great man for stepping up and instantly going in protective mode. And Im never mad at a happy ending.
I DNF && stopped at 70%. I tried to use my imagination and push through to the end but NO domestic violence victim is going to go into a relationship the same day that they escape their abuser nor move in with them. It also couldn’t get over the fact that she was beaten with cuts and bruises on her face but she was posing for pictures with fans days later. She gets a cancer diagnosis but goes to a parade to celebrate just doesn’t make any sense. I gave two stars because I did like the prayers.
Two different relationships One that was harmful and the other one loving. She went through it a lot, but with God, she was able to heal. When you out God first, all things are possible
