A cursed locket. A familiar ghost. And a town that never forgets.

Emery Hale has lived her entire life in Ocean City, Maryland, and she knows its secrets run deep. But when she digs up an antique locket buried beneath the sand, something ancient begins to stir.

Visions stalk her. Her reflection isn’t always her own. And someone—or something—is watching.

As the curse tightens its grip, Emery starts spending more time with Clark at her work, an old fling who’s never really left her orbit. His wife, Ellie, is all sugary smiles and soft words—but behind her eyes is something colder. Something dangerous.

Then there’s Luca—dark, unreadable, and drawn to Emery like he’s been waiting for her in the shadows.

The locket carries a legacy of obsession and murder.
Every forty years or so, it awakens.
And this time, it wants Emery.

Midnight Possession is a twisted paranormal thriller laced with forbidden desire, unraveling minds, and a haunting that refuses to stay buried.

B. Rosenberger is a dark romance and thriller author who believes every love story is better with a little obsession, a haunting secret and a morally gray man you probably shouldn't trust.

She is a Maryland native, caffeine-fueled mom, and a lover of unhinged stories. When she is not writing she is probably re-watching You on Netflix, chasing her baby, driving her husband crazy and playing with her pet corgi and pet rabbit.

RATING 4.85 ⭐️

Midnight Possession is the kind of dark, addictive coastal romance that hangs around your neck like a locket, heavy and unforgettable.. From the moment Emery "stumbles" into that fated meeting on the beach, the story becomes this irresistible blend of mystery, obsession, and danger. The Ocean City setting was the reason I wanted to dive in, as I spent my childhoods vacationing there. It’s vivid and so immersive—I felt like I was back and could practically taste the Trasher's fries and smell the salt in the air—making every eerie moment hit even harder. I am addicted!!

The curse lore was absolutely gripping, the tension builds flawlessly, and Emery’s connection with Luca is pure “I know I shouldn’t want this, but I do” energy. He’s the definition of morally gray: protective, dangerous, impossible to ignore. Their chemistry crackles, and every chapter tightens the pull between them and the ancient curse shadowing their every move.

Even if 3rd person isn’t usually your thing, this book proves how powerful it can be when done right. The writing sucked me right in, the suspense was nonstop. It’s one of those reads you inhale in a day and immediately need more of. I had to immediately start book 2!

A haunting, nostalgic, edge-of-your-seat beginning to a series I cannot wait to continue. Five stars—easily. 🌊✨

Engaging Debut with a lot of Promise.

This was my first time reading a book in this genre, curses, secrets, and small-town coastal horror, and I enjoyed the ride. The story hooked me from the start, and I finished it in just a few hours. I couldn’t stop turning the pages because I had to know the who, what, and how behind the mystery.

While there were a few inconsistencies and areas that could benefit from a bit more editing, the concept was fresh and entertaining. The setting, especially the small ocean-side town, added a moody and atmospheric charm.

I’m curious to see where the story goes next, especially when it comes to Emery and Luca. Their dynamic has me intrigued, and I’d happily read the sequel!

Omfg this book! Mystery, romance, suspense, banter, sus characters, and some sus decisions this book has it all. I loved the way the mystery played out in this book, and nothing was too obvious or too out of the blue. It left me wanting to actually read more because I was low-key so invested in the characters (some on their downfall) and figuring out what was going on. Definitely would recommend checking out this book!

I got to read this book based on Ocean city, Maryland while spending the weekend there. It was so fun reading a twisted story based in a beach town I love to visit yearly. This story will have you roped in and wanting more. I’m excited to see what comes of this series and get to know Luca and Emery more and about the curse.

This is great if you are looking for a dark, moody, gothic, seaside story of ancient curses. I really enjoyed it. I love the way Ellie, Clark, Emery, and Luca cross paths. Their stories tangling like seaweed. It's not perfect, but the potential is there.

This book needs some major editing. Characters are underwhelming and not developed well.

2.5 stars. Interesting premise but underdeveloped characters who felt like they had no personality and many lines were repeated. Also ew, how dirty was that putter?
