Caroline Anders spent her entire life playing it safe. After losing everything she'd thought she wanted, she decided to take a chance. She settled into a new life in Detroit, content to not have to rely on anyone for anything. When she needs help, the first person she thinks to call is Buster, a frequent customer at the bakery where she worked and president of Nightshade MC.
Buster always thought that he'd lead Nightshade one day, but when that day came sooner than anyone could have imagined, he finds that the title carries a heavier weight than he could have ever foreseen. Old enemies are now new friends as a new drug hits the streets, leaving death and destruction in its wake, and Nightshade faces a threat it hadn't seen coming.
After reading Make It Right I was very much looking forward to this book. I enjoyed Buster and Caroline's story and catching up with the club after Buster stepped up as President of the club. I became emotionally invested in many of the characters during book 1, especially Buster, Danny/Amelia and Train. The suspense surrounding the targeting of the club by several rivals was good and kept me guessing as to what would happen next. The developing love story between Buster and Caroline was sweet and not insta-love or insta-lust. However, it did not seem to have the level of passion it should to make me really feel them. There were a few hot love scenes but for the most part I felt kind of flat reading about their love. It's still a very good book and I highly recommend it, especially if you have read book 1. It could be read as a stand alone even if you have not read book 1. I hope Train's story is next.

Buster is the new president of the Nightshade MC. He’s struggling to put the club to rights after the events of Make It Right, and sometimes he’s not so sure he’s the man who can do it. But he has his brothers’ undying loyalty.
Caroline is struggling, too, trying to get her life running after a broken engagement. Buster and the club help her out of a jam, and she and Buster start a flirtation that quickly becomes much deeper.
I love that they are mature people who know what they want out of a relationship and in their lives. They keep each other strong while the club is still in chaos. Some pretty heavy stuff happens, but they stay strong throughout it.
This is a story about loyalty and love and about being stalwart and true in both.
President of the Nightshade MC Buster has had a sweet spot for bakery girl Caroline Anders since she began working there. Caroline seems oblivious until she calls him when someone is trying to break into her apartment. Buster moves swiftly and makes a more than obvious move that he is interested.
Caroline has been burnt badly before and she knows one thing, she is not a one night stand type of gal. She lays it out there for Buster and he makes a decision to pursue a relationship, even if he has no experience with one. However someone seems intent on destroying Nightshade MC and it is putting Carolyn in danger.
Fantastic series, I can't wait for Train's story. I was surprised with the many twists and turns that came into play during reading Through The Weeds. Will have to go back and read #1 in the series. Excited to find a new to me author and series.
lots to like and lots not to like. have just read books 1-3. Buster & Caroline's story reads a lot better than Danny & Amelia though there were still some parts that didn't work for me. I do like the writing style and the basic storylines .. there is plenty of action, danger and romance to keep the books moving
3 1/2-4 stars. I felt a lot of things happened in this book. There was also a lot of what I love in a good MC romance story. There was a lot of action, suspense, and violence--and not everything went the "good guys" way which was a nice change. The writing style was decent, and the timeline had a good flow. The spice factor was good too, but I felt there was something key missing with the H and h's relationship. It was almost like they were an old married couple from the beginning. I missed the feeling of excitement that a new relationship usually brings to a story. I also did not love the main characters as much as I would have liked. I'm not sure how to explain it, but they were kind of flat, and unexciting (even with everything going on). For example, at one point when a lot of bad stuff was happening to the MC, the H pretty much said he wanted to go back home and sleep in a good bed since they were probably all going to die anyway. I guess it was more of a "realistic" response, but not what I was expecting.
4 stars for the plot, the characters Not a vanilla MC, they're not choir boys but draw the line between immoral and can-live-with. A few editing issues : misplaced comma, quotations marks
I really liked how much action was in this story and how many situations were resolved by the end.
I guess my only big issue with this MC, and it is the same in many of the MC books I read, is that the clubs are too small to really have the enforcement power they supposedly do for a 1% group. They can barely cobble enough members together to do simple things. Really, at the end of this book, they were down to 6 or 7 guys! They aren't a chapter of a big MC in the state or nation, so no help there. I understand that authors want a group that they can write a book for pretty much each guy, but it makes the MC so unrealistically small. It also makes them seem inept, and unlikely to be capable of really knowing as much as they need to about their own territory.
I never felt a big lack of passion between Buster and Carolyn, but then again this is an older couple (he is 45), not young 20-somethings with rampant hormones. They have both been hurt badly in the past. I felt like they had a comfortable relationship, not a volatile one. Some people just do, and I like reading that now and then.
I wish the author would give more physical descriptions of her characters. I really don't have any idea what they were supposed to look like.
Overall, I liked this book more than the first book. I am going to continue to purchase this series.

This book started out SO interesting, just from the fact that our poor Buster has inherited a really sh*tty situation with his MC and he's got to put the world to rights. Caroline has issues too, and these flawed people come together in such a wonderful way.
One thing I'll always love about Shannon's book sis how the characters meet. It's never in a way that you've read in a million other books before and, more often than not, you're pretty sure there's no way for them to forge their happy ending. But who cares, I say! It's all about getting THERE that's the story. I loved this book and can't wait for more. Maybe Train??
Great story. A lot of drama in this one. Glad to get to know Buster and Caroline better. They were great together and their romance was kinda sweet. He was very good to her and patient. These boys have had to go through a lot and I have a feeling it isn't over yet. I actually like Train now - in the first I thought he was just a sarcastic asshole but in this one he was featured more and he actually provided a lot of laughs for me. Jillian is a hard character to like. My heart went out to her for what she went through though. Didn't see any of what happened to Edge coming so that was a surprise and even though we didn't get to know Rock at all I felt sad for him also. Looking forward to next book about Train.
I liked this book. There's a good storyline and a satisfying ending. Still, I do have an issue. I know it's more realistic if the characters don't know everything but some of the things that happened seemed obvious - like they should have expected certain things to happen. This happened a couple of different times. However, there were still enough surprises to make me like this book. I would recommend this series to MC book lovers.
This book was much better than the first book. There were still a few spots where I started to skim, but I still like this book. Buster and Caroline are pretty great together. Somehow I kept feeling like Ryan was going to play a bigger role in this than he did. Also is this the extent well read about Jillian and Ace, or will there be more?
I enjoyed this next book in the night shades series. There was a lot going on in this book. Along with Buster and Caroline building their relationship, there was conflict with a mystery enemy, crazy detective Harris, and some shocking turns I didn't expect. I would recommend this book. I think Train is becoming one of my favorite characters.
This book was really good. Good characters, good story, good writing. All I ask is bit more romance but hey, it is an MC book, so maybe that's too much to ask. :o). Can't wait for the next book. I hope it's Train's and I hope it's a mom who has five kids.
I really loved this book! A very complex story full of love, action and just a dash of drama, exactly how I like it! The characters are extremely well written and you can't help but fall in love with all of them! I am definitely going to read the next books in the series!
Utter utter rubbish. Writing style drab and really dull, characters even duller. Main male lead ( I can't even remember his name) very weak how on earth he became a leader of a MC I will never know. Editing issues are a abound. All in all not very impressed.
This book was better than the first in the series, however I don't know if I'll bother with the rest. The author writes well, but there isn't enough character development and enough focus on the H and h relationship for my taste.
So happy I continued with this series after not being crazy about book 1. This book was terrific. Lots of actions kept the story moving. Not every story was wrapped up in a bow - can not wait for the next book to see how this plays out.
