The Corporeal Pull is a story of love that transcends both time and the mortal plane. When Terra realizes that Liam’s intended path is one of incomprehensible suffering in the mortal world, it is already too late. She has let herself become entangled in his fate. Soul mates join the battle between good and evil.

This book was filled with loads of interesting ideas and situations. When Terra met Liam she didn’t know that her very existence would change in a heartbeat. As a “guide” for corporeal entities, she has linked minds with her charges and helped them fulfill their divine purpose during their lives on Earth. She noticed that soul mates often found their partners again and again, during many lifetimes, but she never thought she’d meet her own soul mate until she touched Liam’s hand. Terra risks everything, including her immortal soul, to protect Liam from the evil that threatens his life. During the process she learns about the terrible Scrouge that might threaten everyone in the Tweens and on Earth. Can she save Liam? Will she survive the ordeal herself?

Whether you believe in a higher authority or the existence of good and evil, this story will tug at your heart. Two souls linked by love must survive against desperate odds and find each other in a dangerous world. Terra is courageous and able to learn how to fight evil although she occupies a weak child’s body. Her determination and heart make us want to see her succeed, but the dangers might be too much for one heavenly entity as she navigates the underbelly of real life to save her soul mate.

This is a clean read without explicit sex or bloody violence, which is remarkable since there are battle scenes again evil entities. The author supplied a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review, and I happily recommend it to any reader, young or old.

This book's genre is 'Paranormal Romance'. Terra is a female guiding spirit who lives in The Tweens. The Tweens is not elaborately described, so you can leave it up to your imagination. Terra 's calling in the Tweens is to guide other entities who will enter earth and will be given a mortal body; that's what Terra has done for many thousands of years and for thousands of corporeal souls. Once in the human world, they still have free will, though Terra, who will be in charge of a certain number of mortals, guides them by what she receives from The One. Again, The One is not described in detail, but we get the impression that he/she is not unlike a supreme being, and whatever he/she is doing is for the good of all and towards a good goal. The mortals who live on earth are not aware of their previous existence in The Tweens whilst on earth. (So, you could be one now being guided by someone like Terra :) - I quite like that thought! Once their mortal body perishes, the return to 'The Tweens'. Again, nice thought!

Than Terry gets a new 'charge': Liam. There is an immediate connection between the two, and a deep bond between them develops. But Terra knows that Liam's calling is to go to earth as a mortal, and she has to prepare him. But Terra fears for him, as there is nasty existence on earth called The Scrouge which effects mortals in a bad way. The One provides Terra with two options to send him to earth: either as a child born to a prostitute or as a child of a woman who is in a permanent coma. But that's not the only choice Terra will have to make.

The book expanded my horizon and you have to be prepared to let your common perceptions of 'matter' and 'life as we know it' wander and think 'outside the box' i.e. planet earth and what else is there. It taps into the eternal question "Where do we come from?" "Why does this and that happen to me? and not to others?" Other reviewers have said that they found Terra a bit too cold/difficult to connect to, but I think we have to remember that she is not meant to be human and her feelings (or whatever to call it) will be different. I think the author executed this brilliantly, i.e. show us that we are dealing with a different entity who is confronting her own battles. The only thing I did struggle with were the 'fighting scenes' which is not fighting in the traditional sense (like punching etc.) I think you will have to get your head around it and use your imagination.
One thing which I like to mention are the descriptions of Liam's experiences of foster care (and I don't think that by revealing he went through the care system on planet earth I will give too much of the plot away). There was a deep sadness about it and I just wanted to give him a hug! It is actually a rather minor part in the book, but even so, it kind of touched me.

The book is the start of new series and I can see that after finishing the book, there is a lot of possibility for further adventures in The Tweens and with their charges on earth. I think it is well worth giving this genre a try with this book, even if you don't normally read paranormal. http://thepegsterreads.blogspot.co.uk...

Woah.

I can honestly say I've never read anything quite like this before.

The Corporeal Pull is is two parts Fantasy, one part Romance and a whole lot more. It is the kind of book that throws questions at you left, right and center and invites you to think about the world and our very existence in ways you never have before.

Terra (I love that name btw) is an immortal spirit in charge of guiding corporeal entities through their transformation into a life on earth. It's also Terra's job to follow her 'charges' lives and keep them on the path they are destined for, no matter how good, or bad that path may be.

Enter Liam.

The start of this book was so promising I found myself highlighting passages ferociously, knowing that I'd want to remember them. I found the way Gauldin explores the themes of creationism, divine intervention and soul mates in a Supernatural/Fantasy setting unique and thought-provoking.

However, the romance between Terra and Liam unfortunately didn't work for me which put a bit of a dampener on an otherwise great story. It was a bit of an Insta-love thing going-on, which was probably intentional given the emphasis on them as soul mates but I couldn't muster any emotional connection with them, which is a shame.

The Corporeal Pull is such an ambitious book and I'm glad I read it even if the romance element was a let down. Being a Young Adult/Fantasy fan, it's not everyday you come across a book that makes you think about your own existence and spirituality. It's full of big ideas: Reincarnation, love transcending mortality, the origins of Evil to name a few, so it's hard not to recommend it despite some shortcomings.

Here are a few of the passages I highlighted to whet your appetite:
From a mortal perspective, an individual has always been destined to become the person that they are. It seems evident to those on Earth that a person’s soul and body belong together. They seem predestined for one another; two parts of a whole. In fact, this could not be further from the truth.”

"The Scourge comes in many forms. It is the evil force that spreads acts of hate and depravity among mankind. It uses mortal shortcomings and physical pitfalls to trick charges into becoming willing participants.”
All sentient beings are created, except for ‘The One’. He has no beginning and no end. Therefore he was not created, he is as he always has been and will be. The rest of us have a starting line to cross.”

Note: I was given a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Fantasy is not a genre I've really gotten into, but I love paranormal romance, so I was excited when the author gave me her book to review! I'm really glad she did--this was an exciting, page turning novel that really made me think--a lot deeper than your usual paranormal romance.

Terra is a spiritual guide of the Tweens (I came to think of her as a guardian angel), and her job is to guide entities to their mortal bodies on Earth and throughout their life as mortals to fulfill their divine purpose. Terra has been doing this successfully for centuries. Then she meets Liam, her newest charge--and everything changes. Her love for Liam forces her to reevaluate everything she knows about her world as she realizes Liam is her soul mate. She knows Liam's mortal existence will be one of pain and suffering--how can she knowingly send her soul mate into that world? How will she protect him from the forces of evil?

This book is fast paced and draws you into the adventure from the beginning. It took me a couple chapters to get the feel for what was going on--you definitely have to "think outside the box" on this one--but once I did I couldn't put the book down. All the characters are interesting and relatable. I especially like Terra's kindhearted spirit. The plot is fast moving, interesting, creative, and well developed. I've never read anything quite like it--in a good way!

Because there is so much action going on, the book was a bit challenging to follow in the last few chapters (which entities are in their mortal bodies and who is a spirit?) so I had to read carefully to make sure I was catching everything that was going on! I enjoyed the ending--and it left things wide open for a sequel (which is in the works)!

This book is perfect for those interested in topics such as spirituality, heaven, ghosts, and the battle between good and evil. It will make you think about your views and beliefs from a different angle, all while rooting for Terra, Liam, and the other great characters. I look forward to the second book in the series to see what happens next!

The Corporeal Pull was a different type of story than I usually read. Sort of a cross between science fiction and fantasy. There was a lot of “world building” at the beginning but once the action started it pulled me right in and I enjoyed the well written and imaginative storyline.
Like Romeo and Juliet and other doomed literary lovers, the attraction between mismatched entities: Terra (a soul guide) and Liam (her newest charge) was sweet and instantaneous, but against normal protocol in their otherworldly existence.
The author has taken many different ideas such as soul mates, reincarnation, free will, and a supreme creator and reimagined a world where guides look down upon the earth and help souls reach their purpose of common good for The One.
As the story progressed, I found myself reminded of Lucifer falling to earth and infecting humanity with evil because of the huge struggle going on between good and evil souls. Intent on protecting the love of her life from this scourge of evil, Terra follows Liam to earth when he is born and finds herself in danger as well. Terra may be the only entity with the knowledge to stop the scourge from infecting every living human. Will she be able to keep Liam safe so they can be together for eternity or will he be sacrificed as part of the bigger plan? I suggest you read The Corporeal Pull and find out!

Do you believe in Love-at-First-Sight? After reading this book you will. The guiding spirit of Tweens was content with her job overlooking and managing corporeal charges down on Earth. However, that changed when she meets the gorgeous newcomer Liam. She begins to questions everything and soon enough a cute light romance begins to form.

I'm the type of person that in order to love the book, I have to be hooked from the very first page. Unfortunately that didn't happen with The Corporeal Pull. I continued reading for review purposes but wasn't expecting anything great. However my perception changed by the third chapter. From then on I was loving this beautifully written novel. The author does a great job giving definition and reason to the insta-love.

Personally, I would recommend this book to most of my friends. Fans of paranormal romance will enjoy this read. I am so happy I was given the opportunity to review this book. I'm looking forward to the sequel!

If you haven't checked out The Corporeal Pull do so now! You will not regret it!

There has been a cover change since I received the book and I have to admit, I love the new look. This cover is more personal and related to the plot of the story compared to the original the original.

This love story is definitely something different. There is of course that connection between two people but the author has taken on the idea of soul mates. Now for those that believe in the concept of course it is simple, for those of us that might not buy into that, it can be a little hard to swallow even when we are aware that we are reading fiction. This story was written in such a way that it comes from the view of someone who doesn’t buy into the soul mate idea and that is what actually makes this a good read. I will say this book snuck up on me. I was almost expecting a very sappy love story but I was surprised that things didn’t happen that way in the book. Granted there are some mushy moments but nothing that is over the top or out of the realm of possibilities. Now that might sound like a strange statement but what I mean by that is it was realistic in a way. It wasn’t like the author had some idea of what this type of relationship is like but is writing from a realistic point of view.

The story in itself is very well written. There wasn’t a moment when the story dragged and while I don’t care for abrupt endings the end of this story caught be by surprise because I wasn’t ready for it to end. I see that there is a part 2 to this book and I think once I get some of the others cleared away I will sit down and give that one a read.

It is always a most pleasant surprise to find a novel on Amazon that stretches the boundaries of one’s imagination, not just within its central plot, but within its broad, passionate, and edifying conception of love. I was excited to find an author like Gauldin, who is weaving profound metaphysical ideas with page-turning plot movement.

Corporeal Pull is laced with haunting colors of noteworthy cinematic works such as, “What Dreams May Come,” and memorable classic literary works invoking guardian angel characters. The love story between Terra and Liam is unique, stirring, and will illuminate one’s memory for much time to come.

I’m glad that I read this novel, and I’m confident that fans of mystery and suspense with metaphysical elements, will certainly enjoy this book as well, especially those looking for a new, different, and lasting read.

Give this pleasantly diving and singular novel a try.

Yours in literature,

Was passed this book by the authur in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this story; the book is a paranormal romance and Terra is the female lead who is a guiding spirit and forms a connection with Liam who is her new charge.

The book is filled with lots imagination and is an exciting read! It is a story of soul mates and the extent one person would go to protect those she loves. Gauldin thought the plot out well, exploring the meaning of life. This book will get you thinking about every day experiences and how we end up where we are.

I would recommend this book to science fiction fans.

I was lucky enough to be given a copy of this by the author to review it. I'm kind of torn about how I feel about it. It was a decent enough book with a lot good questions. I never really had a deep connection with any of the characters and the insta-love threw me off. The writing style was very wordy and intelligent. It is high fantasy and romance, so don't take it on unless you enjoy that. I think a certain type of reader would really love this book. I, however, am not that reader. I did like that it made me think. That's always a good quality in a book.

I was sent this book for review and found it to be an intelligent and thought provoking read.

This story is deeply philosophical and explores worlds and concepts of life and death, good versus evil and transcendence in an original and clever way.

Although this first in the series it holds great significance to what it means to be human and the forces that surround us and that the next book will only delve deeper.

It too explores the 'reality' of society and its encompassing sadness and hardships - the very journeys in which make Terra's role so important.

Extremely well done.

The Corporeal Pull is full of fantasy and an imaginative plot that kept me turning the pages to see if Terra's journey between worlds would lead her back to her beloved Liam. Gauldin captured my attention through the eyes of her characters as they transcended between The Tweens and Earth. She masterfully crafts sentences that are sophisticated enough to be appreciated by an adult audience, yet the plot-line and romance will no doubt pull in young adult readers. Great read for anyone who likes to explore the spiritual world and contemplate good versus evil.

The Corporeal Pull by Sara B. Gauldin

This is a fantastic read. Those with even a passing interest in the supernatural (ghosts, spirits, heaven, souls, any of that) will really love this. The action, emotion, and interesting plot points are well-mingled and will keep you flipping pages until the end. I know I had trouble putting it down! I really cannot wait to read the next book in the series. :)
