Be Careful What You Wish For. Some Dreams Take On A Life Of Their Own.
It was just a matter of time... quantum leaps in technology, mind over matter, wars fought with thought, reality as malleable as clay.
The Earth they knew was ravaged. Mankind finally had to face his darkest fears... and his own extinction. Their only hope was to fight fantasy with fantasy.
Still guilt-ridden years after the death of his friend, Ayin has drifted most of his life bound to no man's rules. When he awakens without memory in a mysterious realm not on any map, a mythic guardian unloads the weight of all worlds on his shoulders. Aided by a nobleman, a musician, and a scholar, he must save the Tree of Dreams from a living nightmare before it unravels all of creation.
Welcome to Dreamtime! You need an imagination to enter And belief in yourself to escape.
As a rabid consumer of fiction, I've found that there are two types of books.
There are the books that you read when you want an escape. They may be light-hearted comedies, a swoon-worthy romance, a bittersweet tear-jerker. These books are the ones that you read in front of a fire place on a rainy day or that you keep by your bedside when you're not feeling well. These are the simple reads.
Then there are books like Dreamtime. These are the books that make you think. They are not simple. They cannot be read in a single afternoon. They evoke a plethora of ideas and questions and emotions, many of which you'd never stop to consider in a million years. These are the stories to which you must pay attention, for if you don't, you will miss something and it will be something important. And author Alan J. Martin is just the man to tell these stories.
It takes a tremendous amount of dedication and determination to create a world like this. I doubt I could do it. I'm a simple mind and I enjoy the simple stories. I'll admit that Dreamtime was, at times, a bit beyond my rom-com loving comprehension. But I'm very happy that I read it. I'm happy to have been a part of this strange, beautiful, intricate world. I look forward to reading more from Mr. Martin in the future.
