Calliope is the daughter of gods. The muse of epic poetry. A goddess imprisoned and abused by a selfish writer. After decades at his brutal attention, she finally escapes her cage and runs headlong into Sam.
Sam Eaton is an esteemed doctor. A survivor of an abusive father. The estranged son of the writer imprisoning Calliope. One night, he dreams of the goddess trapped in his father’s attic and runs to her aid, only to find her standing bloody and victorious over his father’s unconscious body.
They’re united by an intense hatred of his father, but there’s something deeper bonding them. Something darker. And, with each passing day, Sam and Calliope find themselves wondering whether it’s better to succumb to the darkness together rather than survive it separately.
I fell in love with sam and lila story when I read their story in the tales of the scorned Femme Rage Charity Anthology, and to be able to get a full story of them was amazing in every way .
Arthur obviously is trash and disgusting. he got what he deserved after everything he did to lila and Sam.
sam is just the most perfect cinnamon man ever . the way he is and him being there for her and never pressuring in anything she wants ready to do . it was all her choices and pace that melted my heart and healed part of my trauma self .
I know we all who had trauma and never got justice the way I was so happy for lila. I won't say too much cause it's 5 star read and much more .
and lila, my beautiful goddess, she is my favorite of all , I did have issues with her mother, but I can understand the small part with her, but lila will always come first . the way she doesn't treat sam like he damaged, he perfect the way he is.
Their connection is so much more than lust & sexual . The way lila didn't care about his leg, like other women, have reacted was beautiful.
what sam said had me emotional, and yet it felt like he was speaking to all of us in that moment.
“Because you deserve the world that he stole from you, Calliope. And I’m going to do everything I can to give it back to you.”
Fear No Hell is a dark romance that gave us a v!rg!n MMC who was a complete cinnamon roll, but also a possessive animal with touch-her-and-💀 vibes when it came to his girl. It also gave us a scorned FMC who suffers through many years at the hands of a monster, but saves herself and finds her own justice. This was a slow burn with a plot that kept me on edge and wondering what would happen next. The story between our MCs was awesome to watch unfold. We've got magic, gods/goddesses, the underworld, transformation, and ruthless revenge. I'm here for all of it!
*Please note, I was provided with an ARC version of this book by the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review*
It's no joke when I say this has been one of my most anticipated books of the year. When we first met Sam and Lila in the short story included in the 'Tales of the Scorned" Feminine Rage Anthology, I fell in love with them almost immediately. But their full length tale was worth every single second of the wait. Just how good is it? Well, I read it in a single sitting, and at various points throughout I literally felt my heart swell in size with the feelings pouring off the page.
The book deals with some dark themes and doesn't shy away from the rage, violence and horror of those moments. While I cannot even begin to imagine going through Lila's experiences, I could relate to so much of her character and the sensitive yet unapologetic way the writing conveys both her trauma and her vengeance meant I could share in her emotions every step of the way. In the same way, It's visceral, and yet it's also immensely cathartic - it's so easy to take great pleasure in Lila's revenge, and if you're in that frame of mind the book really allows you to put yourself in Lila's place, taking out your anger and frustration on your now-helpless tormentor. That being said, I appreciate the rawness of it all may be triggering for some, so please do check the content warnings and proceed with your own mental health in mind. On a lighter note, Lila is my spiritual twin when it comes to cooking!
Now, Sam was already our soft and sweet marshmallow MMC with a tinge of darkness at his heart, so he was already on my book boyfriend list. But now? To quote the author, Holy Rabies! 🥵🥵🥵 He really is the COMPLETE package (IYKYK). He steals Maxantarius Farlione's crown as the ultimate green flag book boyfriend; he's conscious of Lila's situation and is nothing but respectful, conscious of even touching her without her consent and allows her the space, time and quiet support to heal in whatever way she needs to. He defers to her wishes, but he isn't a sap. And while he has his own road to travel and trauma to process, he never does so at the expense of her. Indeed, she helps him just as he helps her (albeit in something of a different way). He's literally every girl's dream - strong, slightly possessive but not overly so, sexy and a complete cinnamon roll whilst being able to whip out those dark eyes and a growl when necessary (and looks-wise, think Henry Cavill as Clark Kent...). Basically, the boy is perfection on the page.
Without mentioning any spoilers, there are some nice little plot twists and easter eggs in here that I wasn't expecting, which just added even more excitement and joy of finally getting my hands on this book. It's well documented that I'm a sucker for a bit of Greek mythology, so of course Lila being the Muse of Epic Poetry was always going to hook me in anyway. But I loved the development given to that myth and others to tie everything together and introduce new elements to the modern setting of the story.
It's well paced, skipping through time relatively quickly and not lingering too long on certain events, while still providing depth, detail and the ability to properly sink into the story, which was familiar and yet still managed to surprise me. It's one of those books that's easy to read, despite not being an easy read, and I couldn't have stopped if the house was on fire.
Billie has produced yet another masterpiece here, and I cannot wait to get my hands on a physical copy for my shelf. I'm so excited to see this out in the world soon!
I first read Sam and Lila’s story in the Tales of the Scorned Anthology and loved every second of it, so when I found out that their story was going to be expanded? NO BRAINER. I was chomping at the bit to read this one and finished it in 2 days and she a thicc one!
🔥Feminine Rage 🩸Taking Back Power 🔥Vengeful Goddess FMC 🩸Schmürder Marshmallow MMC 🔥He’ll do ANYTHING for Her 🩸He’s Slightly Inexperienced 🔥Friends to Lovers 🩸👑King👑 of Consent 🔥“Good Boy” & “Pet” 🩸Transformation
Lila and Sam met under less than ideal conditions. Sam’s dad is a well-respected author whom Sam saw for the monster he really was for secretly imprisoning and forcing himself upon Lila. After years of being discredited and forced commitments for his “delusions,” Sam is ready to expose his father in the most public way possible…but someone beat him to it.
Now, Sam is breaking all sorts of laws for the goddess he’s dreamed of, and willing to do whatever it takes for her to feel safe and get her power back.
Okay, but SAM?! IS HE FOR REAL?! *SCREAMS* If Sam isn’t the most morally gray, golden retriever, good boy there ever was?! Sam is not a want, he’s a need. We all need a Sam in our lives. The respect, care, and adoration he showed toward Lila was unmatched – everything was at her pace and whatever she needed for her healing, he made sure that happened. Sam is a KING and a bit of a switch 😏 he was able to give Lila a firm voice and direction to keep her grounded in reality, but when the woman he desired more than anything needed to be in control, he submitted without question. The way in which he embraced Lila in all of her forms? Say. Less.
And LILA? GIRL. I was fully supporting her journey towards reclaiming her power because I was feeling heartbreak and rage on her behalf until she had her moment to ascend from her captivity – you will be cheering her on once she’s out of her shackles. The relationship development between Sam and Lila was a heartwarming transition of friends to lovers – their path was not linear, reflective of a survivor's journey navigating trauma while making choices for themselves. Billie didn’t shy away from showing the ups and downs, the way in which trauma surfaces when you least expect it, and the methods in getting back Lila’s power were not traditional (more along the lines of gore/hørrør-filled vigilante justice you can 100% get behind). The journey for Sam & Lila becoming a couple was not easy, but their perseverance and steadfast support of one another was beautiful.
Did I love the little Gold Dust Grimoire Easter eggs? Yes. *IYKYK* I am loving the world Billie is creating and all the little connections are so fun! Was I 10,000% going feral for Lucifer? Hello silver foxed shadow daddy who is completely unhinged and a hot a$$ mess f*ckboi with zero filter. Just, yes. Would I participate in a summoning ritual for him? Yes. Are you wondering how Lucifer fits into this story? Well, I can’t give you any context because that would spoil things, but my proclamation needed to be made whether you asked for it or not 😂
All Hail the Transformation King & Queen! I cannot wait for more from this world!
A story about feminine rage and empowerment and taking back control after abuse and trauma. At the very basic level, that's what this is. And where the bulk of the story resides. You cheer on the FMC and tell her "get the f'r!"...because its fiction, and that makes it a safe space to do so.
Add in that the FMC is a literal goddess, with more to her being than she actually knows...and a cinnamon roll MMC with his own traumatic history...and they're inexplicably drawn to each other and enacting revenge together on their shared abuser...well, there ya go.
I think because I was reading this book and another at same time, and it was taking so long to read (cuz life), and I've been sick, and been excited to read another book, and have been stressed, this didn't hit as much as I'd have liked. I wasn't fully in right headspace for it. But I still enjoyed it, still had fun with it...and still just went with it. This is not literary fiction people. It is however, an interesting take on the gods of myth and dare I say...reincarnation?
Commentary (with potential spoilers): • What...what happened to Sam? 😞 • "All over a little bit of murder. How absurd." • Sam!! 🤗 • "...is that someone's spinal cord resting on the ceiling fan?" In Fear No Hell, Billie Nicks weaves an epic tale of love, fate, and revenge that captures the reader's imagination from the very first page. Having first encountered Lila and Sam in the Tales of the Scorned anthology, I was eager to dive deeper into their tumultuous story, and Billie does not disappoint.
Lila, also known as Caliope, is a captivating protagonist whose journey is both harrowing and inspiring. For 40 years, she is held captive by a malevolent author who exploits her as his muse, feeding off her creativity while subjecting her to unimaginable abuse. Billie paints a vivid picture of Lila's suffering and strength, making her eventual escape and quest for vengeance all the more powerful. As the Muse of Epic Poetry, Lila's story is not just one of survival; it’s about reclaiming her narrative and taking control of her destiny.
Enter Sam, the author's son, who becomes both Lila's ally and unexpected love interest. Their relationship evolves slowly and beautifully, marked by a deep understanding of trauma and healing. Sam's willingness to let Lila set the pace of their romance adds layers to their connection, making it feel genuine and relatable. The slow-burn aspect of their relationship is masterfully crafted, with moments of tension and tenderness that keep the reader invested.
Billie expertly blends elements of mythology with contemporary themes, allowing readers to explore the complex dynamics of love intertwined with revenge. The twists and turns in the plot are skillfully executed, revealing that Sam is not just a simple human which adds depth to his character and enriches the narrative.
The book is a thrilling ride filled with tropes that romance readers adore—revenge, a fierce heroine, and a cinnamon roll MMC. Lila’s transformation from a victim to a fierce, empowered woman is inspiring, making her a character that readers will root for wholeheartedly. Billie’s ability to balance the spicy elements of romance with serious themes of trauma and recovery is commendable.
In conclusion, Fear No Hell is a compelling read that I thoroughly enjoyed. Billie Nicks has proven herself to be an excellent storyteller who captures the essence of love against the backdrop of pain and retribution. If you enjoy tales of slow-burn romance, mythology, and fierce characters, this book is a must-read. You won’t be able to put it down!
Once the muse of poetry, Lila, escapes her capt0r of 20+ years, there is no hell like the fury of feminine rage fueled vengeance, and she funnels all of that anger into ensuring her abuser feels every bit of the pain and helplessness she did at his brutal hands. As she frees herself, she runs into Sam, the boy who tried to help her years ago, and the abused son of her kidn@pper. Sam, a respected doctor who will do anything for her, takes her in, and bonded by their mutual hate of his father, she slowly begins to heal from her trauma while exacting her revenge. However, Lila’s revenge seems to be unleashing something dark within her, and she’s not sure who she will be or what it will do to Sam when she’s done.
My Thoughts:
I found myself championing Lila all the way as she took back her power and punished her abuser in the goriest of ways! She’s a vengeful goddess in all her glory, and I’m all here for it! Her relationship with Sam, her friend turned lover, is a beautiful story of trust and respect that grows over time. The author realistically shows the effects trauma leaves behind, and the patience and understanding Sam and Lila have for each other is something we all need in our lives. Sam’s ability to help her through her moments of panic and anxiety by grounding her in the present made my heart swell for this morally grey, sweet and obsessed MMC.
Well written with mythology cleverly weaved throughout the story, I could not love this book any more. Oh, and when the silver fox, Lucifer, shows up, I found a new character to drool over! Holy he11, the hotness. 🥵 If you love a story where the MCs overcome their pasts, take back their power and embrace their darkness in order to transform into their true selves and claim their birthright, this is a must read!
This book was absolutely heartbreaking and heartwarming. The first several chapters left me in tears, and the rest of the story slowly built my heart back piece by piece. Billie Nicks delivers an incredible, emotional journey filled with pain, betrayal, rage, freedom, hope, love, healing, new challenges, and so much more.
Lila, our FMC, went through so much, my heart shattered for her. Her healing journey was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever read, and her revenge was so deeply satisfying. And then there’s Sam, our MMC… oh, that man. He’s the definition of a green flag soft, sweet, patient, and caring, with a healthy a sprinkle of darkness. I adored him endlessly. He understands what Lila has been through and is so respectful and gentle, even with something as simple as a touch. It absolutely melted me. He also carries his own trauma, and I loved how they helped each other heal.
There were twists and turns I didn’t see coming, and I loved every single one of them. The pacing was perfect no slow spots or filler, just steady, engaging storytelling that kept me hooked from start to finish. The writing itself shines. It pulls you in effortlessly, wrapping you in every emotion. I also adored the little Easter eggs throughout the book and how the mythology was woven so cleverly into the story.
I loved every minute of this book. Thank you, Billie, for this ARC, I can’t wait to read everything you write next!
Captivating! A five-star read, without question! Fear No Hell is an intoxicating read where she is the morally grey one and he is an absolute cinnamon roll. A story of survival, revenge, healing and finding your power with so much tension and heat, what more could my dark heart ask for?
Lila is an inspirational force to be reckoned with. She is ripped from her home and held captive and for this she will save herself and exact her revenge. While she has been through extreme trauma she is determined to heal as best she can, while making those who hurt her feel her pain. Lila is strong, gorgeous and irresistible Lila will unknowingly change Sam’s life and there is nothing he wants more.
Sam is a cinnamon roll doctor waving ALL the green flags! This is not to say Sam has had an easy go of life. When he was younger, he saw a beautiful woman and his life changed forever, his own traumas make him just what Lila needs to support her through her journey. There is nothing Sam will not do for her, and he will pay whatever the price just to be by her side for as long as she lets him. We have heard of a Shadow Daddy, now it’s time to become acquainted with this handsome “Shadow Pet”.
Sam and Lila’s story is one of healing and looking towards the future. Their connection is undeniable, and they are exactly what each other needs. However, all is not as it appears, and they will have to face challenges and revelations they never thought possible.
I highly recommend this book and will definitely read this one again! Fear No Hell is a dark paranormal romance that left me craving more. A beautiful example that even darkness can find its place, and nothing is quite so simple as good and evil.
🩸 Vengeful Goddess FMC ✨ Unaliving Marshmallow MMC 🩸 Feminine Rage ✨ Transformation 🩸 He Falls First ✨ “Good Boy”
I have been looking forward to reading this for a while and I was not disappointed!! A dark romance, Greek mythology tale in a modern setting.
Its a slow burn but well worth the wait... Overall the book is exceptionally well paced and packed full of ALL the emotions, it doesnt linger unnecessarily on details but at the same time is sooo descriptive and never lacking the info you need to be completely submerged in the story. There are a few plot twists I didnt see coming that constantly had me on edge and dying to turn the page and find out what comes next.
Sam is my newest book boyfriend - literally the ideal man put into words on the page, the perfect mix of golden retriever, morally gray, cinnamon roll, possessive, gentle, protective, kill for her, tender deliciousness!
Lila is my girl.... Her heartbreak and rage literally bleeds off the pages and into your soul and you cant help but become all in as Team Lila as she processes and works through her trauma whilst trying to find justice and save herself all over again.
Diving into my first Goddess paranormal, and it was everything I didn't know I needed ✨
She was the goddess wrapped in human skin, embodying every bit of feminine fury, the living storm of rage 🔥 while he was the green flag, the kind of man your mama would approve of, the 'Good boy' everyone adored 🥰 And I'm obsessed!! 😍
I loved how Lila and Sam’s relationship grew. Seeing how Lila's past affected Sam too, and how patient he was with her, never pushing, always understanding... made it feel so real and sweet 🩷
I can say that this book makes me feel strong and unstoppable. Like I can handle anything. Watching Lila take control of her life, face her fears, and turn her pain into power is… honestly, it hits different. It's the kind of story that makes you believe you can take on whatever comes at you and proving that no one, not fear, not pain, not anyone can ever dictate who you are 🖤
A 5☆ read. He craves the chaos only she can command 🔥
Okay Besties... buckle up because "Fear No Hell: A Dark Tale of Feminine Rage" by Billie Nicks is not your average dark romance—it’s myth, madness, and pure feminine fury wrapped in poetic chaos. Calliope (aka Lila), a literal goddess and muse, has been caged and brutalized by a twisted writer for decades… until she turns the tables in the bloodiest, most satisfying way possible. Enter Sam... her abus€r’s son, a doctor with demons of his own and that “good boy” energy that’ll make you melt. Their connection? It’s dark, divine, and absolutely unhing€d in the best way. This isn’t a story about healing... it’s about owning your rage and finding someone who won’t flinch at your scars. My Ratings: ⭐ 4/5 ▪︎ 🥵 3.5/5

WOW! I am absolutely speechless and don't really know where to even begin, to be honest. Sam & Calliope's story is mind-blowingly deep, raw, emotional, and will heal parts of your soul you didn't even know needed mending. Calliope has been through more torment, despair and trauma in her long lifetime than anyone should ever experience. Sam is the most down bad, loyal, sweet, truly perfect MMC I've ever had the pleasure of reading. He helped Calliope through everything, just by simply existing and being himself. There were a few twists and turns, that I honestly didn't see coming, and it added to the overall perfection of this storyline. I cried, laughed, swooned and kicked my feet, and honestly, I sat and stared at the wall a few times, wondering how...how did either of them survive and come out the other side better for it? It's a story of true reselience, finding yourself again and taking back the power you were born into. Billie wrote an absolutely beautiful masterpiece!
"Fear No Hell" by Billie Nicks is a compelling dark paranormal romance that delves into the shadows of the supernatural with intense emotion and gritty storytelling. Nicks masterfully creates a haunting atmosphere filled with complex characters and high-stakes tension, making it a captivating read for fans of dark fantasy and romance. While the story's dark themes and intense scenes may not be for everyone, they add depth and authenticity to the narrative. The pacing is well-balanced, and the emotional depth keeps readers engaged from start to finish. Overall, it's a gripping and thought-provoking book that earns a solid four stars for its bold storytelling and immersive world-building.
Sam and Lila's story was one I had been waiting for since reading the short story in The Tales Of The Scorned Anthology, and I was not disappointed in any way! From the feminine rage to the ultimate healing of this book for all readers, and characters within, I was hooked and in love with Sam about halfway through. Anyone who has any sort of trauma needs this book in their lives, and their hearts, to see exactly how we are meant to be treated. The ending leaves me wanting so much more, but I know they will be back and I will continue to love them in whatever context I can! It is not often a book can break me and then heal me at the same time but this one accomplished it and I am so grateful I got to read it!
I love this book, but it is absolutely a much darker book than I would typically read. If you have some past trauma that can be triggered by books, I definitely recommend that you read the trigger warnings and everything first, Billie takes some deep dives into some and it can awaken certain emotions. That all being said, I love the feminine rage that is presented in this book. It is done in a way that healing in so many ways that I didn't realize I needed. Healing affects aside, this story takes a dive into lore and I love that! I won't say what lore, but I will say that if can handle the depth of Fear. no Hell, I think you will love it too. I've said it before, lore/mythology will always hold a special spot in my heart, so this book will be added to that collection.
Where do I begin with the emotional heartbreak in the first several chapters of this book that had me sitting on the end of my bed crying. Fear No Hell is a story that started in an anthology, but this story could not be contained to a small short novella, no way. Billie took this story and expanded it into a whole novel filled with pain, agony, betrayal, feminine rage, finding freedom, love, healing, unexpected challenges, new powers and so much more. Sam & Lila's story broke me and then healed a piece of me I didn't know I needed. Taking back your power and learning to trust again is a difficult thing to do, but Lila did it in the most unexpected ways after over 40 years of pain and torture. Enter in Sam, the most supportive and loving character I've ever read. Sam is the MMC we all hope to see and love to read about. The way he supported, loved and helped heal Lila was such a beautiful thing to see unfold. We all could use a SAM in our lives and even a Lila.
If you love Paranormal Dark Romance with powerful FMC and a strong MMC who find love in the most heartbreaking of times, then this one is for you. Also, I just need an honorable mention to LUCIFER Morningstar who I may now be slightly obsessed with. His appearance really stepped things up and I can't wait to learn more about him. I am hopeful that these characters get more books, because the ending left me with so many new questions and a need for more to their stories. Also, the SPICE if you are wondering? Oh, it's a SPICY one...I give it 3 Chili Peppers!
I first want to say how grateful I am to have been given the opportunity to receive this ARC. I also want to apologize for being so late with my review. Life just got away from me.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book at first but the more I read the more engrossed in the story I became. I really enjoyed this story. If you are into slightly unhinged FMC this is a great book for you.
This story was originally in the Tales of the Scorned Anthology as a short story but now we get their full story!!
Lila's story is a long and heartbreaking one but a person can only take so much until they snap and fight back ... it helps when there's someone who loves you supporting you in this fight 🥺
This was a wild ride with Sam and Lila! Fear No Hell isn't like any other story out there. This will have you in all of your emotions. With that said I highly recommend this female rage tale! I received this book in exchange for an honest review
Another amazing read by Billie Nicks, I’m telling you, this woman can do no wrong! 💜
I absolutely loved Sam and Lila (Calliope). He is such a sweety, and so very patient towards his Lila. The immortal muse Calliope has been though so much, being a captive for 40 years, abused every day by Arthur. A greedy man willing to do anything for money and fame, and he has a particulairly cruel way of getting what he wants.
After she escaped that hellhole, she is out for blood, Arthurs blood. She can live with Sam while enacting revenge, and for as long as she wants to. Slowly their romabce blossoms, and it turns out there is much more to their connection than they anticipated.
What I also really loved is that cinnamon roll Sam is an amputee. As an amputee myself (forearm & elbow), I just loved finding a book character that is missing a limb as well.
The story sucked me in completely, I loved the plot, the character development and ofcourse the slow-burn romance.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I am a huge fan of Greek mythology as well as the Lucifer Morningstar lore. (a huge fan of Lilith) I wish I could give this more than 5 stars. It was absolutely amazing.
This book is AMAZING!! such an emotional read but also cathartic. I'm so happy Sam and Lila got their full length story. Deff go check this out, but be prepared for crying 🥹🥰
omg this book was so awesome. it has everything from action it has a lot of spice and it kept you on your toes from every page. I was hooked from the start. this was such a great book.
"He is the villain in this story. I'll show him what a villain really is. I'll make him realize he should have left me and Sam unharmed." Female rage, getting her power back and coming into her own! This female power house FMC is a certified BAD ASS! After forty years of imprisonment she's had enough! She's going to save herself even if she has to burn it all to the ground! And damn if she doesn't do it with a smile too! Our sweet, sweet MMC is equal parts supportive and twisted in his own right. He's upbringing wasn't the easiest and he's willing to look the other way if it brings joy to the women he's waited his entire life for! When they decided to jump into the darkness together they become unstoppable! Did I mention she might be other immortal and he well, let's just say their story is written in the stars.
