Nova #4

The Dark Scarlett

Rate this book
The Dark Scarlett is a continuation of The NOVA Trilogy, but can be read as a standalone.

COVE

Paul Jameson forced me into the adult film industry at a young age, putting me through years of horrific abuse. It's no surprise I became an alcoholic, considering the ongoing trauma and depression that he caused.

I’m just glad the lowlife finally got what he deserved, and I was free to get on with my life. A better life. An easier life. But then I fell in love. And love is never fucking easy. Especially when the woman who captured my heart is Paul’s daughter, Sophia.

Go figure, right?

Well, Sophia is sassy and sexy and caring and stunningly beautiful. All great things. She’s breathed new life into me. Still, I feel like I’ve got a dark cloud hanging over my head. Even with Paul gone, a bunch of weird shit keeps happening. Like when a guy gets murdered in the parking lot of my wine bar, The Dark Scarlett. And then some nutcase starts stalking Sophia. Plus, an adult film star I once knew comes out of nowhere and decides it will be fun to harass me. What the hell does he want?

Count them. Not one, but two psychopaths are causing trouble.
And I have to deal with the cops investigating the body found outside my bar.
Maybe the devil himself—Paul Jameson—is behind all this.

Or maybe these men aren’t the problem.
Maybe the actual threat is closer to home.

After all, how well do I know Sophia?

After finishing The Nova Trilogy I was delighted to discover I could read more from this wonderful author. The Dark Scarlett is a continuation of the trilogy told from Coves perspective.
I love being able to get into the mind of a man when reading, it adds a whole new dimension to the story. Some of my favourite lines were with Cove and his best friend/employee Haverty they were hilarious together. Real man to man camaraderie.
The Nova Trilogy is one of the most amazing series I have ever read. These are books that could go on forever. I would never get bored of the trials and tribulations that Cove and Sophia have to endure.
This book The Dark Scarlett brings some closure which is at times terrifying. There was more than one occasion where my jaw dropped to the floor. The story twists and turns at such a dramatic rate it had me constantly guessing what was coming next.
All four books are action packed and I can't think of a single page where something huge isn't happening and if it's not then they're having the hottest sex!
The whole series is breathtaking from start to finish.
I would LOVE to read more from this author, there are so many more possibilities for all the characters from these books. I'm sure the story could just go on and on.
Thank you for sharing this fantastic story that will be forever ingrained in my heart and mind ❤️

I have to say that I cannot remember a book, never mind a whole series, keeping me interested like the NOVA series did! Such a unique story and told flawlessly! Wow! Next up, Jameson Hotel. Just wish all parts were done. I've learned my lesson (thanks Sylvia Day) and never start a series until I know it's complete, but I can't wait and will go ahead with Jameson and then reread when the rest comes out, because I'm sure Mark will be worth it!

Having read Mark's story before I read the Nova trilogy I actually enjoyed this a lot more than Nova.

I loved seeing the characters be more like the ones I fell in love with in Jameson Hotel. And Cove is so sweet in this.

Having read Jameson Hotel and hearing Mark describe what Cove went through with Paul it left me a little confused at the end of Nova cause there the physical abuse was downright denied by Cove when directly asked, so it was "nice" to hear him admit it here. Cleared up some things for me.

This is going straight to my favorite shelf.

On to Jack's story we go.

An amazing ending!

What an amazing ending to a wonderful story!
After reading The Nova Trilogy I was hooked....but when I found out this story was I Coves POV, I just thought it was going to be the same story...WRONG! This is a continuation of their story and I have to say I am now a HUGE fan of this author. This was so well written and had me on the edge of my seat till the very end.

I started to read it slowly, because I didn't want it to come to an end, but yet I had to keep reading to find out what happens next.

BRAVO! I enjoyed this series and can't wait to see what Aven Jayce writes next!

Couldn't wait to read more about Sophia and Cove's story (Nova Trilogy). There are heartbreaking moments as we learn more of Cove's horrific past and what a monster Sophia's father was. Although his tormentor is now dead, we follow Cove's fight to rid his life of his past demons so that he can concentrate on his future with Sophia. Still lots of twists and turns throughout the story which keep you guessing and of course very dark elements as I've come to expect from this series. Can't wait to read more from Aven.

Loved the twists in this book and the emotional journey Cove and Sophia took along with friends and family members.

Good addition to the trilogy! I knew who the "bad guy" was straight away as I had read the synopsis to another book by this author.

Even though the characters admitted to being immature idiots, this didn't make me, as the reader, like them any better. They were still annoying and made stupid decisions.

However, I did enjoy the book and was definitely on their side...

The book begins with Cove and his father returning from Las Vegas after the last round of interrogations about Paul Jameson and his involvement in Cove abuse. Cove and Sophia are married ( pity not having witnessed the proposal and wedding) and together with Cove’s parents work at the Scarlett, Cove’s wine bar.
But no everything is happiness since David Rosen makes an appearance to make their life hell. David was the founding partner of Jameson industries and now wants Sophia’s inheritance. But he will no come alone, Mark Wild an old partner of Cove in the porn industry also appears, according to his words to give life lessons to Cove.
Beautiful end for a story that through 4 books has told us the horrors suffered by Cove at the hands of Paul Jameson, but thanks to his family and especially his wife Sophia( character that although I didn’t like much now I have started to love) seems to have found happiness,.
These books aren’t for the faint of heart but finally they are very intense books and with some sex scenes between Sophia y Cove that are amazing and super hot.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wow I didn’t think this story could get any better and then we end up here. Book 4! Holy crap does this book give you every worse case scenarios possible. This couple faces every emotion in a short time. They finally find a couple true friends and the family foundation they have been aching for. But at what cost is true happiness??? The Dark Scarlett is not for the faint at heart. Gosh I loved it!

This follows the Nova trilogy and does not disappoint. This story centres on Cove and Sophia and their wine bar. It has all the intrigue and angst but also a beautiful love story. Haverty is a wonderful character and I loved the camaraderie between him and Cove. Love this series!

Interesting

This installment of the NOVA series was interesting. I didn’t find it as easy to follow as the previous three books. There were parts that I enjoyed and others I could have done without.

I am officially in love with Aven's writing. In The Dark Scarlett, we get to check in on Cove and Sophia, and Cove's family, and see how they are coping with the aftermath of Paul Jameson.

"Who am I supposed to be? How am I supposed to act? Am I just walking through life putting on shows for everyone based on their personalities, and not my own?"

"Don't think I didn't fight for you, I just wasn't strong enough to win."
Yeah, our poor Cove has a ways to go.

We also get to see how Sophia and Cove are fairing with each other.

"She puts a smile on my face. Romance, no, but passion, rage, lust, and a deep ache in each of our hearts? We got it."
"Her contact is so powerful and healing in ways she'll never understand."

And, we get to know Haverty and his girl. Love that guy!!
Oh, and we meet my main man Mark!!
"He's a creepy F**k..."
"He's composed and his voice is oddly soothing, almost as if he could snap at any moment, knife me in the gut, lick the blood off the blade, and walk away without any change in facial expression."

Excellent read, loved every minute of it!!!

Adjusting after the fall out is never that easy.

Cove, Sophia and the Everton family never seem to catch a break.

It is clear that Sophia and Cove are seriously hot for one another but we hear about it for over half of the book. A wee bit of overkill ya think?

There is another murder of someone that was the 'true' snake behind Jamison Enterprises. Everyone looks guilty but the cops are insistent it's suicide.

Like with the other books shit just keeps hitting the fan. With this book, refreshingly neither Cove nor Sophia makes one of their drastically stupid decisions.

Everyone grows a bit. There a few twists and turns but nothing like the others.

DNF at 10%

I liked the Nova trilogy, wasn't perfect by a long shot, but the mystery kept me going. I did cringe a lot during the sex scenes, some words used to describe sex parts were just cringe worthy.

But at 10% Clove thinks something that it was what made me say finally it's enough. Seriously? You're jerking off to the picture in your head of another woman's ass? That's just ... no! I don't think that was necessary at all. I understand his past, but why would you put that in a book? Just no!

This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
