Shameless Corruption

Shameless corruption is the third, and final book in Robert Fanshaw's Shameless series.
As with books 1 and 2, we follow Caroline and Robert across the globe and into some pretty 'out there' experiences.
This one didn't fail to deliver in the adventure stakes either. When Caroline finds herself indebted to Mr Nim and playing hooker for him in return for her mounting gambling debts... Well, it sure was an interesting ride. *puns totally intended!!*
The exotic countries, Singapore and Brazil, really were great backdrops to this story of lies, lust and high-stake loans.
Where the story lost me was the lack of feelings. I didn't get the same 'feel' from Caroline and Robert in this one. They felt like cardboard cutouts of previous characters. Minus 1 star.
Add this to the sometimes almost unbelievable story twists and the overly superior antagonist and, well, it left me wanting more from the closure to this series. Minus 1 star.
The story was also lacking the usual level of humor, which is a grievous wound to an already less impressive book. This was the straw that broke the camels back (or so they say) and has confirmed for me that while Robert can create some great work, perhaps two books were enough. Minus 1 star.
I would rate this as 2.5 stars, but I'm rounding up to 3.
