Sorry but more Beta Readers needed who are not friends....

First the heroine was suppose to be an accountant working for in a profession dealing with clients and her language was unprofessional, languish juvenile. The hero is suppose to be a worldly "BILLIONAIRE" who to impress the heroine makes pork chops and potatoes in a restaurant he owns..............WTF........pork chops? If you are going to write a story about people who are wealthy at least research how they speak, and what they eat. No woman, especially a black woman who works in a profession that 98% of the time would make her the ONLY minority in the office would communicate the way this woman communicated in this book. Accountants starting salaries are in the $90k and if the woman spoke the way she did I would of fired her immediately. The hero is a wimp and DEFINITELY not Russian or written by anyone who had been around Russians. If you are seriously going to endeavor to pursue the art infuriating, please remember that is an ART! Writers are responsible for researching and telling a compelling vivid story. This was not it. Try again, and be better.

He knows what he wants

....and that was Sophie on first sight. He knew she was the one for him, he just had to woo her and her grandfather. Neither one could resist the pull of the other, but I feel there is trouble on the way through Tony's father.I

The author wrote a sweet love story with some mystery brewing.

The writing was alright, but nothing happened in this. It's a book about another normal black female who meets a white billionaire and boom instant love and marriage. Nothing else. I am glad this came for cheap in a set of 5 other books because I would have been pissed to have paid for this it not be complete.

Umm... Lots of work needs to be done. The story went by so fast I got whiplash. Not to say it doesn't have potential but it felt like one long run on sentence. Character development there is none. So I couldn't relate to it or get worked up when it came to the interesting parts of the story.

Had errors and I could not get a good feel of the emotions of the characters. It seemed as if the author was giving facts instead of allowing the characters to show what the tragedies they experienced have done to them.

Potential

I like the bantering back-and-forth between the two main characters. Unfortunately, the author never really gained momentum in the story just when it seemed like she was building on something she dropped the ball on the story fell off

I was going to give this 2 stars but found out this is part 1 of a 2 part book. For that reason I'm giving this book 1 star (which I've never given before). I can't stand reading books in parts.

Fun. Funny... Flawed, But I Have No Regrets

How do a ridiculously fun (and simply silly) plot, characters that are ridiculously cute and funny (and completely unbelievable), terrible punctuation and confusing word-usage come together to make a book I rated at three stars*?

Charm. Pure charm.

My Russian Dream was full of unexpected moments that left me chuckling or sighing happily. I felt like a little girl reading her first fairy tale. And not the sort that the Grimm brothers collected. I mean the sort that were cleaned up for kids.

The entire premise suggested that something like that might happen. So, even though the book's problems began before I'd even seen the first page of narrative, I was charmed enough to keep going. And once I stopped trying to edit it as I read, I mostly enjoyed reading about Sophie and Tony.

Sure, there were a few moments (Okay. There were many moments.) where I had to stop and re-read because of a lack of punctuation (Okay. So, this one happened on almost every page.) or because the author switched between Commonwealth and U.S. English (spelling and dialect) or because of another usage errors, but it was a super short and super cute read,. The characters were likeable (though not in the least bit realistic), and the plot was a fun and funny fairy tale. (Yes, that means that the plot was also unrealistic, but since the book had a very strong fairy-tale-without-magic vibe, I suspect that was deliberate.)

So, if one 1. can get past the usage, punctuation and formatting errors, 2. doesn't expect realism in characters or plot, and 3. doesn't mind a short read, this book can be brain candy.

If Cher Etan finds a competent editor, the book could become a winner on all fronts. (Well, except plot-wise; a stronger plot might ruin a lot of the book's charm. And perhaps the characterisation of Tony; as is, he's not going to appeal to readers looking for alpha males, but his lack of arrogance was what made him stand out in my mind. And some of the inconsistencies of the setting; if Sophie, who was transplanted from the South years ago, actually starts dressing for Boston winters, all of the sweet hand-holding and warming would need to be excised.)

*Full disclosure: I downloaded this book already knowing from having skimmed the excerpt that it was rife with problems that usually make we want to scratch at my eyeballs. I decided to give it a chance as part of an experiment in being more open-minded. To my surprise, I mostly enjoyed reading it. Don't get me wrong; as I would normally judge things, this is a two-star book at best, but at Goodreads** that means, "It's okay". But I think the story — and to some extent, the characters — makes the book more than just "okay". Just as I know it needs a lot of work. Lots and lots and lots! Still, I thought it was cute.
**I gave it three stars at Amazon for similar reasons.

Sadly this was a really poorly written book. It seemed like the author had done limited research in the characters supposed backgrounds. You have a russian billionaire who is a whimp, an accountant who is extremely illogical and more than a little crazy, juvenile dialogue and actions.

The heroine and hero fall in love but I never saw it, I never felt any heat from their encounters. We weren't helped by the poorly written book. My personal favourite from a sex scene is the sentence which starts "They duck walked down the hall to the door at the end of it" WTF kind of a description is that? In a sex scene? We are also told frequently about the colour of the hero's eyes - blue, ice blue and variations thereof.

The book could have been good it there was actual research, well written dialogue and prose. Oh and actually showing two characters falling in love. This book demonstrated none of these. I wouldn't recommend it, at all.

Very cute story and fast read. The whole thing of romance for me is an escape from everyday life. This is the only place thse story was lacking for me. An escape yes, but not a completely believable escape for my taste. Love at first sight, then total acceptance of not only each other's racial differences but cultures, too is a little too much. This is just part of a series and I like the way it ended, but engagement inside of a week to a gorgeous billionaire was a little beyond my imagination.

I don't usually like novellas but I liked this one. It wasn't that deep but sometimes it's nice to read about an easy relationship. There was no real conflict keeping the couple from loving one another, the conflict was with the hero's family and even that was resolved quickly. Some people may dislike this for the same reasons I liked it but I know from experience that love can happen that quickly and smoothly and still make for the love of a lifetime.

Very good read

This is the 1st time I've read anything by this author, but I can't find any real complaints. Very fast paced. But I love the characters. Can't wait for the next installment.
