Who needs real men when you have book boyfriends? Romance author Georgia Lane wishes to find the kind of love she writes in her books. But as they say, be careful what you wish for.

After yet another terrible first date—in a series of bad dates—Georgia fears she’ll never get her happy ever after. After a devastating heartbreak and an unbreakable case of writer’s block, she may not even be able to write one.

Until a “lucky” penny changes everything and Georgia comes face-to-face with three ideal book boyfriends—a dashing duke, an adorable boy next door baker, and a sexy werewolf alpha. They are everything she wants, which is why she wrote their stories to begin with.

These three men are not just carbon copies of the characters from one of Georgia’s books but the actual men. Transported from their books to the real world, each believes they may be her happy ending. Now, Georgia is in a literary version of The Bachelorette. They’re perfect, but are they perfect for her?

All she needs to do is date them to find out. Except, what happens to the other two once she picks one? To the leading ladies they left back in their books? Not to mention Georgia’s growing feelings for Davis Mackenzie, a blind date gone wrong that is now going very right.

Can a woman whose business is writing happy endings find one for herself in this The Bachelorette meets Lost in Austen sexy romcom?

With a name like Melissa Whitney she had two choices become a Real Housewife or a romance author. Sorry Andy Cohen, she's chose romance!

A Jane Austen fangirl, Melissa hails from Western New York, but currently lives in Southern California with her husband and rescue pugs. When she's not brewing the perfect cup of tea, hunting for a delicious pastry, or traveling with her husband, she's writing swoony and steamy romance novels.

Melissa explores themes of disability, mental health, trauma, grief/loss, and family in her emotionally heartfelt and comedic stories. She often says, "Life isn't a romcom nor a high drama. It's somewhere in-between and so are my stories." As a legally blind woman and trauma survivor, Melissa taps into her own lived experience and her masters in social work to craft thoughtful/sensitive stories that delve into deeper themes, while still offering the swoon, steam, and humor that make us fall in love with a good romance.

Book Boyfriends 📚
Firstly I want to thank LoveNotes PR & Melissa Whitney for giving me such an opportunity with this ARC!
We follow Georgia,a romance writer who is currently on a massive writing & romance block. After countless failed manuscripts & dates,a lucky penny is on her hands. What will happened when after a wish all three of her main mmc comes to life?✨

To start with,I LOVE a good romance with a splash of fantasy inside, and Book Boyfriends is exactly that. The way this story unfoldes is so unique mostly because as I said there is fantasy inside yet the romance continues to be the main plot always, without getting lost inside that other genre.
As for romance I adored it 100%.
It was so,so chaotic with all the mcs coming to life & the man from the failed, not so failed, first date!Whitney literally took us into Georgia's head and we saw all the emotions from the starting panic and confusion to when she actually had her own fairytale ending!
More,Georgia was such an easy character to read, she did not have any secret meanings behind her or anything. She was beautiful, loud & lovely. Also, she gave me the vibe of a woman that FEELS a lot,and is not afraid to show it-go girl!My favourite moment of hers is the one she sees someone that we absolutely hate and decides that he is surerly, finally & undeniably in the past.

personal comment:bro we do not care how you & your b*tch of fiancee feels🫶🏻.
okay,that was intense..
To continue with,I laughed so much with this book, like so so much!We had funny situations but with that way of writing oh.my.god.I has SO FUNN!
Added,it was really cool that there was a glimpse of what happens after a book is finished and that those sunshine ending may or may not last!

Long story short,if you want a funny,fantasy-ish romance & a dynamic heroine,here you have it,Book Boyfriends!

Romance author Georgia Lane wishes to find the kind of love she writes about in her books. After a series of disastrous first dates, writer’s block, and a heartbreaking past, she may never get her happy ending. Until a ‘lucky’ penny brings three of her ideal book boyfriends to life—a dashing duke, an adorable boy-next-door baker, and a sexy werewolf alpha. Now Georgia finds herself navigating a real-world version of The Bachelorette, complete with fictional suitors come to life—and feelings developing for a blind date who’s turning out to be a lot more than expected…

I really liked the witty, comedic style of the book. The author’s humor shines throughout—clever banter, self-aware commentary, and laugh-out-loud moments make Georgia’s misadventures thoroughly entertaining.
I also really loved the magical realism aspect. Bringing fictional characters to life was such a creative twist to a normal romance book. If you enjoy the magical realism and meta-romantic vibes in Ashley Poston’s novels, you’ll likely enjoy this one too—it’s got that same charming blend of whimsy, romance, and imagination.

However, a couple things fell short for me personally. I felt like it was way too tropey which was unnecessary. The novel leans into a whirlwind of tropes—triangles, charming archetypes, and a reality-TV-like dating scenario—so many that none fully develop emotionally. It’s fun on the surface, but I found myself craving more depth and connection with the characters.

Despite leaning heavily on familiar romance tropes, Book Boyfriends is a fun read with standout humor and a magical twist that makes it memorable. It’s ideal for when you want something lighthearted and imaginative! Although, if you're after deeper emotional arcs or more character depth, this may leave you wishing for a bit more.

I would recommended for:
Fans of quirky, meta-romantic stories, readers who enjoy magical realism blended into rom-com setups, and lovers of playful romances!!

I loved this so much! As the book opens, blocked romance writer with a day job as a hospice social worker Georgia is enduring an absolutely terrible first date with a gorgeous but seemingly incompatible man who spends the first twenty minutes glued to his cell phone then insults her writing. After mercifully cutting the date short, she returns to the hospice in time to visit her mentor and make a wish in the courtyard fountain. After her mentor suffers a slip and fall accident, breaking his hip, Georgia is convinced she’s at fault, because she tends to always feel responsible for all those for whom she cares deeply.

The next day she’s visited in the flesh by the three male protagonists from her self-published novels. When her brother shows up to check on her, he decides to take the men home with him while Georgia tries to sort out how to “return” the men to their literary worlds. He also proposes that she go on a date with each man to determine to which of them she’d most be suited.

Of course things don’t quite go as planned, and despite hilariously awkward dates, none of the men appeal to her on a soul level. This is when it gets really wild because the bad date she had at the outset re-enters her life unexpectedly, shattering her first impression of him as well.

This book was so much fun to read, I actually slowed down to savor it rather than plow through it to get to the ending, This was my first time reading a Melissa Whitney novel, but it certainly won’t be my last.

I was generously provided an advance reader copy from Love Notes PR, and I’m pleased to share my honest review.

I had the pleasure of reading an ARC of Book Boyfriends, and honestly? It was such a fun ride. The whole concept hooked me right away - Georgia’s fictional book boyfriends stepping off the page to help her find her own happily-ever-after? Yes, please.

Georgia herself is incredibly relatable, the kind of main character you just get. Her friendships and interactions feel real, and her banter with Davis (who, despite his rocky first impression, turns out to be a total sweetheart) had me smiling. And the book boyfriends - Owen, Lars, and Lord James - were each interesting in their own way, adding so much charm to the story. I especially loved that in the end, they got to write their own happy endings, too.

It’s fast-paced, easy to read, and simply a joy to follow from start to finish. If you’re looking for something fun, romantic, and a little bit magical, this one’s definitely worth picking up.

"Book Boyfriend" by Melissa Witney is a lot of fun! I can't remember reading a book like this before, and I really enjoyed the journey! Georgia, a self-published romance author, accidentally brings three of her main male characters, Lars, Owen, and Lord James, to life when she wishes on a fountain with a lucky penny after a bad date. She has to go on dates with all three of them to find out if there is more there between them than meets the eye. All the while, she connects with Davis, a man with whom she had a bad date. It turns out, miscommunications and misunderstandings may have prevented them from getting the first date they deserved. As Georgia and Davis slowly get to know one another, their connection is clearly the real deal. Unfortunately, she has to give her three book boyfriends the endings they deserve, which may put a damper on her budding potential relationship with Davis. Like I said, this book is a ton of fun. I loved the first date shenanigans Georgia gets into with Owen, Lord James, and Lars. Each of them embodies a specific romance trope, so seeing them in their element was entertaining and sometimes, surprisingly heartfelt! I also really appreciated how Georgia grows as a character throughout the novel. Each of her dates with the book boyfriends helps her grow a little more in different areas of her life. I also really liked the relationship between Georgia and her best friend, as well as between Georgia and her two brothers. I didn't find this book to be too long or too preachy, it's just a delightful time with many laughs, heart-tugging moments, and some excellent spice.

Thank you to Melissa Whitney and Love Notes PR for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.

If you've ever wished your fictional book boyfriends could step off the page and into real life, this one is definitely for you.

Book Boyfriends was such a delightful escape. I adored how light and playful it felt, with just the right amount of silliness woven in. The banter had me smiling constantly, and the characters were easy to fall in love with. It never tried too hard to be serious, which honestly made the story even more charming. By the time I got to the last page, I was grinning ear to ear and completely satisfied with how it all came together.

This story felt like a sweet celebration of love stories, and I loved the way it wrapped up with such a meaningful reminder—that everyone is worthy of love, even if it doesn’t look exactly how you pictured it. The characters were so endearing that their roles totally hooked me to the story.

This romcom takes such a playful idea and runs with it: what if the dreamboat heroes we fall for in books stepped right off the page? Georgia, a romance novelist with zero luck in her own dating life, suddenly comes face-to-face with her leading men—a charming regency duke, a cinnamon-roll baker, and a moody alpha werewolf. And just when things couldn’t get wilder, along comes Davis, a blind date who might actually be the real thing.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves reading - light spice, sweet/funny banter, heartfelt and emotional, cozy and feel-good romance, inclusive representation, found family, diverse cast, unexpected love tropes!

Thank you @lovenotes.pr and @melissa_whitneyauthor for sending this eARC my way!

Thank you to Love Notes PR and Three Pug Publishing for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Pedro Pascal fans, you’ll appreciate my delight at this line: “can you at least tell me who this man is that you say isn’t a contender, but who makes you look like Pedro Pascal just strolled into the courtyard?” 🥵 Immediate win.

This romcom runs with such a fun premise: what if the swoony heroes we adore on the page actually came to life? Georgia, a romance writer with a track record of disastrous dates, suddenly finds herself face-to-face with her own creations—a dashing regency duke, a sweet cinnamon-roll baker, and a broody alpha werewolf. It’s essentially The Bachelorette, but with fictional men. Throw in Davis, a blind date who unexpectedly proves to be the real deal, and you’ve got a wonderfully chaotic setup.

What I loved most:
✨ Diverse representation—neurodiversity, LGBTQIA+, and disability.
✨ The joy of finding your people (those found family vibes!).
✨ A reminder that love is about the journey, not just the ending.
✨ The way life sometimes gives you what you didn’t even realise you needed (to borrow my mum’s saying: “there’s a lid for every pot”).

Lightly spicy 🌶️, sweet in humour, and heartfelt at its core, this was a cosy, feel-good read. It wasn’t a perfect one for me—I can’t quite pinpoint why—but it left me smiling, and I was rooting for Davis from the start 🫶.

If you’ve ever wished your fictional book boyfriends could step off the page and into real life, this one is definitely for you.

I received this book as an ARC read (thank you so much for the opportunity!!) and I absolutely loved it! This book had my giggling and kicking my feet while reading! I had just finished reading some heavier fantasy books and this felt like such a great palette cleanser that had me coming back! I didn’t want to put this down! The characters and side characters personalities were well written! It was a hilarious clash of reality and the bookish world! I mean who doesn’t want their book boyfriends to come to life! The MMC stole my heart! The autism representation in this book made me feel understood as autistic adult! The celiac representation was amazing as well! I loved how thoughtful the Mmc was on the fmcs needs. This was such a fun read! One I definitely recommend to anyone who loves a good rom com!

I really loved this book! The premise was so unique and the characters had so much depth despite how many there were. I always love reading about romance writers but exploring the rewriting of happy endings was fun to read.
All the MMCs were likable characters on their own journey together with Georgia. How each MMC in her books represented someone in her life was enjoyable. Lars and Jackson’s similarities and banter was amazing.

But obviously we were here for Davis! I loved him and Georgia together their nerd love was adorable. I also appreciate the representation of Autism in social settings and relationships.

Overall, a good read and I would recommend!

Haven't we all wished for the book boyfriends we read to come to life and sweep us off our feet?
Georgia definitely hopes so, after another date gone wrong, she's a romance writer after all and romance is exactly what's she's looking for. Too bad it's never that simple.
One magical moment later and the MMCs she's written before land in her lap, seemingly there to help her find her happy ending. There's Lars the brooding, snarky alpha werewolf, Owen the sweet, cinnamon roll baker and Lord James who embodies a suave, regency duke. Unbelievable, right?!

I really enjoyed the depth in this book, how both Georgia and the book boyfriends discovered more than just their happy ever afters. This was such a cosy, feel good romance book about finding love and yourself. I loved the found family feels with all of the characters and would love to see some of the other characters get their own individual books too!

I received this book as an eARC and my review is my honest opinion

I really enjoyed this take on romcoms. Georgia was a fun character and I loved her growth throughout the book. She learned so much about herself and learned to do things for herself and not just others. Davis was a great MMC, he was loving and supportive. Showed Georgia that her partner was her equal but could also spoil her.
The idea of book boyfriends coming to life was fun and interesting.

I wanted so much to love this. If I wasn't madly in love, I would definitely pick an MMC from my latest read. And there were 4 of them. The story and concept were there. It just didn't hold my attention. I needed more. Indid love the best friend. She believed in Georgia with everything she had. If you need a quick read, that is easy to listen to. Grab this one.

Honestly so enjoyable! The characters had so much more depth than I was expecting. I LOVED Hope, her best friend. It had typical clichés but it was so well done. And as wonderful as book boyfriends are, real life can be so sweet.

(My Rating: 4.3 out of 5 ⭐️)

See a penny, pick it up, and all day long you'll have good luck. Right?

Well, that may or may not be the case for Georgia in Book Boyfriends by Melissa Whitney. Georgia Lane is a romance writer who writes HEAs for her main characters, but doesn't seem to have the same luck in her own life. After another not-so-meet-cute date, a despaired Georgia tosses a penny into a fountain, conjuring the fictional MMCs in her novels to life - the boy-next-door baker, a charming duke and a sassy werewolf alpha. While trying to figure out if one of the three men is the key to her happy ending, an unlikely suitor gets added into the mix.

This was such a fun romantic comedy that hilariously breaks the fourth wall in romance books through our FMC. I really like that the author went into great detail for celiac disease, which Georgia navigates throughout. As someone with food sensitivities (where are my GI disorder and IBS girlies at? 🙃), I understand the struggle with going out to eat and not wanting to burden those around me to cater to my dietary restrictions. I love that Georgia has a supportive group who ensures she's taken care of when it comes to the foods she eats. The author integrates celiac disease so thoughtfully that it not only brings awareness, but also serves as a way for Georgia to realize that she does deserve to be taken care of. There is also autism awareness through the MMC, Davis, and MS mentioned through Georgia's mother. I loved the openness of convos that Davis has about his autism with Georgia and her willingness to learn more to adapt to his needs. While Georgia's mother isn't mentioned too often, the impact of her MS on the family is certainly felt.

Georgia's dynamic with her two brothers, Rem and Jackson, is a complicated, yet often playful one. While she adores them, she feels their constant pity due to her past relationship and chronic illness. It was healing to see how their dynamic evolves throughout the book. Hope, Georgia's BFF and also Rem's wife, is a true gem in the novel. She is so feisty, protective, and hilarious - she lights up the page whenever she appears. I also love Davis' character, and without giving away too much, he reminds me so much of my husband - especially his thoughtfulness when it comes to Georgia's food restrictions. And, I would be remiss to not mention Doc and Estelle, who champion our FMC and we love a found family trope!

Okay, now to the eligible bachelors... I mean, the three fictional men that Georgia accidentally wishes to life. Aside from Hope, they were a major highlight. Lord James Everly, First Duke of Chamberlin (hehe), reminds me so much of Hugh Jackman's character in Kate & Leopold, a historical romance character transported to modern day. His general dialogue and demeanor had me cracking up. I also kept envisioning Joe Manganiello as Lars the snarky werewolf (IYKYK). And Owen the baker reminds me of a Chris Evans-type - with that boy-next-door vibe. I would love to have him as my friend who can bake all the delicious gluten-free treats! It's hilarious how Georgia gets put on a Bachelorette type situation where she sets out to date each MMC to see if any of them are her match and solve the mystery behind their appearance. But, what's even better are the lessons she learns from each of these men. In fact, all the lessons she learns through her different relationships really added an extra layer to the story that I truly enjoyed.

Final Thoughts 📖
I had a blast reading Book Boyfriends by Melissa Whitney. It's such a fun twist on a romantic comedy with magical realism. Much like Georgia's own romance books, there is definitely spice in this one - a solid 3 out of 5 🌶. The banter, the relationships, and the lessons that Georgia learns really round out this entire story. Overall, I give it a 4.3 out of 5 ⭐️.

Thank you so much Melissa and Love Notes PR for giving me the opportunity to arc read this one, I don’t think I can full explain how much I loved this book ❤️

I was absolutely addicted to this read from page one and I genuinely never wanted to put it down, the energy between Georgia and all of our male leads (especially Davis) had me reading this one like it was my only life source, I physically could not stop thinking about this book and I wish I could read it for the first time all over again to experience the pure joy that I felt throughout the whole read 🥹

I loved each and every single one (even James) of Georgia’s male characters and getting to see them work together to not only help Georgia find her true happy ending but to also see them grown and thrive outside of their original stories with the opportunity to find the end to their story that they really desired was the sweetest thing ever and the ending made me want to cry so many happy tears!

I related to Georgia so heavily but I love how she stood up for herself after everything that happened with Will and being able to watch her learn to put herself first rather than just existing to keep others happy made me admire her so much, she is such a strong, determined and inspirational character and I am so so happy that she found Davis because she deserves all of the best things this world had to offer ❤️ I also have to admit that I adored the friendship between Hope & Georgia they are the cutest ever and they remind me so much of me and my best friend Laura, they have the sweetest bond and I love that even though Hope is married to her older brother Rem that their friendship dynamic never changed, to me that is true friendship!

Overall, I loved this book beyond words - seeing the way that David cared for Georgia along with the way that she let him feel safe and accepted with her throughout their relationship was the best thing in the world. David deserves to be loved just as loudly and openly as Georgia does and I am so incredibly happy that they got the ending that they deserved. I have to admit i’m already getting withdrawals from this masterpiece and I already want to go back into this wonderful world of messy fun 👀

OH DAMN!!!
OH DAMN!!!
OH DAMN!!!
*in Captain Holt's voice*

I was very emotional while reading this book (my periods are nearing, and secondly the constant ache and reminder of my unrequited crush). I was crying throughout. I imagined myself in Georgia’s shoes — how everyone tells me I am the picky one who just can’t compromise and settle on something? How I am always chided by people around me for reading too many books, always imagining things.

This book, OHH MYY GODDD!!!!!! The Concept, The Characters, The Plotline, Everything >>>> I loved how this was portrayed from the POV of a romance author, because in many books we see Romance Authors as protagonists but we never get the in-depth analysis of their stories, their characters, and their endings.

This book has changed (somewhat) my perspective on happy endings. You can’t depend on a person for your happy ending. Be the person to create your own happy ending. You don’t need someone’s help, a swoon-worthy romance, or a broody male lead to accomplish that. Just be in the moment, enjoy everything, and don’t fret about the ending.

There is not only one but multiple stories in the book and I loved each one of them. Especially Jackson’s story. I loved the supporting characters — Rem and Hope, Doc and Estelle. These wonderful couples are the reason why we believe in love; their scenes warmed my heart. You know how we all wish that our book boyfriend becomes real and how nice it would be to have him as our real-life partner?

This book portrayed how sometimes the character is more than what we read. We may like them, but we never know how they truly are. This book took a hilarious dig at our delulus and it was so interesting to read this concept.

I can’t put all my thoughts into words, so at the end, I just wanna say: go and read the book. You’ll love it.

Thank You LoveNotes PR for providing me with the ARC of this amazing book <3

3.25 rounded down.

Romance author, Georgia, has had bad luck in love. So when her ex-boyfriend is getting married to her cousin, Georgia wishes the MMCs from her own novels were real. Careful what you wish for, because Georgia comes home to find a sweet as can be baker, a werewolf, and a 19th century gentleman all vying for her attention. All the while, Georgia gets to know Davis, her brother’s friend, who just may steal her heart from all three of her fictional suitors.

This book has great bones. The quirky dialogue and comedic relief moments (including but not limited to a bi-curious werewolf who refers to Georgia as “Rabbit”), as well as complex characters. The genre is magical realism, so you have to suspend your belief in reality in order for it all to make sense.

That said, it felt like there were too many tropes inter-tangled here. She has a disability, he has a disability, gay rep, lesbian rep, cheating trope, misunderstanding/miscommunication trope, pseudo-love triangle, brother’s best friend, second chances. It was just all tossed together in one big trope salad. But none of them were deeply explored. I also had some issues with the representation of a character said to have autism. He was incredibly in-tune with Georgia’s feelings and needs, highly intuitive and self-reflective. Hear me: I’m not saying that individuals with autism cant be intuitive and caring in relationships, but reading others’ intentions tends to be a hallmark struggle for those with autism. This character came off more as hot nerd who made a bad first impression but then excelled at sarcasm, nonverbal communication, and understanding his love interest’s point of view. That’s just not how I have come to understand autism. Appreciate the rep, but it fell a bit short for me.

I enjoyed this a lot! But I wouldn’t say it was my favourite she’s written.

I squealed at the Davis/Kenny reveal, that was the absolute best part. I just wanted Davis from that revelation; it seemed pointless for Georgia to keep trying to ‘date’ and if I were Davis, I would have been thinking she was a flake or a serial dater. It would have put distrust for me and I would have let her go
I think maybe it should have been later on

I did love the whole second chances and letting yourself live vs constantly thinking of the endgame. I do think a lot of people get set on how they see their lives ending up but don’t enjoy the journey.

The plot was good, it just was very forced. I didn’t feel any connection to any of the book boyfriends and I wanted more of a Ghost of Christmas past where they each teach her a lesson.

I loved Jackson and Lars!! Love loved them!! I was shipping them immediately and I hoped that is where it was going.

James seemed like a real dick! Between him and Will (makes sense), I was ready to reach into the book and punch them. I’m glad Hope stood up for Georgia! But honestly, should any family members be going to that wedding? I don’t forgive Leah, fighting her attraction or not, she was the other woman and she’s a cunt. How dare she expect forgiveness from Georgia! Will and Leah deserve each-other. Wash your hands of them girl!

I also don’t know about all the gluten free stuff, I have a lot of celiac friends and the portrayal seems like overkill. It was very sweet of Davis to do all the things he did but a separate toaster and not being able to kiss? None of my celiac friends agreed with that

One if the main reasons I love Melissa is because her portrayal of different illness’ and disabilities is so seamless. This one just didn’t hit

This was my first book by Melissa Whitney and it was a fun read. I love when a book features an author as a character or bookish elements. It always adds a special element to the read.
Georgia Lane has been unlucky in love since her ex-boyfriend betrayed her and broke her heart. As an author she writes about her ideal boyfriends in her books but lately she’s had writers block. After another failed date, a lucky penny and a wish brings her book boyfriends to life all vying to be her happily ever after. Georgia worries about what happens to the other two boyfriends if she picks one and each of them have left someone they love behind. Add into the equation that she finds herself drawn to Davis Mckenzie. After a misunderstanding led to a bad date, things start going very right which further complicates her life. Can this romance author find her happily ever after not just for herself but for her book boyfriends too?
I thought this was such an interesting read. Georgia is struggling to find love and overnight becomes a bachelorette juggling 4 men in her quest for a happy ending.
Georgia had so much growth throughout the book. I absolutely loved watching her start to give herself the chance to fall in love instead of immediately finding an issue.
I loved how when Georgia spent time with her book boyfriends she was able to get to know each of them on a deeper level. This allowed her the chance to learn that there is even more to them as people than she wrote and deeper feelings within their stories than she expected.
If you want a bookish romcom with a variety of book boyfriends to swoon over and keep you on your toes I highly recommend checking out Book Boyfriends.

Thank you to Melissa Whitney and Love Notes PR for the opportunity to receive an arc of this book 🤍

This ARC written by Melissa Whitney was given to me by Love Notes PR. It is a cute romcom that had me hooked from the title. It’s an easy read and well written. A terrible ex and three men to help guide you to your own happy ending with someone unexpected. A little magic to show you what you needed all along.

From chapter one Georgia Lane was giving off “girl power” vibes. This book loosely reminds me of the movie When in Rome. If you have ever thought about what it would be like for your favorite book boyfriend to jump from the pages into your life, then read this story. Georgia is a little lost and needs some guidance - enter three stereotypical book boyfriends! Each man brings something to the story to help her find her way.

This is book is a reminder that even if life gets a little crazy and you lose yourself a little bit that you can always find yourself again. Your story doesn’t have to end exactly how you thought, you can change it at any time. This makes the book one of the more relatable books I have read this year. It ends in a more realistic manner than the typical romance book.

I want to highlight the neurodiverse representation in this book. This is the second book in a row that has included this element. I am so happy to see neurodivergent people getting the recognition they deserve. It shows anyone reading this book that regardless of your circumstances, you are the one writing your story. It can end how you want and to also enjoy “the middle”!

Thanks to Love Notes PR and Melissa Whitney for the #gifted copy of this book.

Rating: 4.5/5

“You said you choose me, well, I choose you...I choose us."

Summary: Not only is Georgia Lane blocked in her writing, but her love life is very lackluster until one day, when she makes a wish in a fountain with a lucky penny. Then the book boyfriends from her books are sitting in her house, absolutely real. It seems the only way to get them to go home is to go on dates with them. But then Davis, a first date gone wrong, comes back into her life with swoon-worthy moments fighting for her attention. Who will she choose, and what happens to the book boyfriends when she does make that decision?

"Bad dates-really anything-are always better with french fries."

My Thoughts: Book Boyfriends was such a fun read. The way the story incorporated a wish and a lucky penny as magical elements was one of my favorite parts. The novel's unique concept was that the book boyfriends were pulled directly from Georgia's books. Each of the boyfriends was funny in their own way and pushed Georgia to see things differently, not only in her love life but also in her books. And then there's Davis... This hot nerd boss and avid pickleball player was the swooniest of them all. I loved it when he fought for Georgia when James was being ridiculous, and he showed Georgia in the little ways how he cared for her.

Definitely check this one out for a fun and lighthearted read.

Review:

Characters: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I thought this book had a pretty good group of characters. The side characters brought as much to the story as the main characters, which I like. I also really appreciated the celiac disease rep, it was a big reason I wanted to sign up for this ARC. I hope this inspires other authors to create characters with celiac or GI issues. The representation is so important.

Romance: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
I thought the romance was good. It definitely had its highs and lows, so it wasn’t my favorite, but wasn’t bad either.

Spice: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It takes a while to get to the spice, but it was still good and enjoyable.

Storyline: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This storyline was really unique with a good execution. I’ve never read a romance like this one before and I enjoyed it.

Writing/Pacing: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
The pacing was very good and I liked the writing style.

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.75
Overall, this was an entertaining story with a unique storyline. It wasn’t personally my favorite book, but I could definitely see people really loving it.

Thank you to Melissa Whitney and Love Notes PR for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

✨This book was such a clever, playful twist on the romcom trope, and I had a blast reading it!

💕This was such a fun, creative romcom! I mean, what romance reader hasn’t wished their favorite book boyfriends could step right off the page? 🤭Georgia literally gets that wish granted, and the chaos that follows had me smiling the whole time. 🫶🏽I loved how each “book boyfriend” represented a different fantasy, forcing Georgia to decide what kind of love she actually wants in real life and making her realize more about herself as well.🫠

My favorite part? The banter and humor🤌🏽. It never took itself too seriously, but at the same time, Georgia’s struggle with heartbreak and writer’s block gave the story depth. 🩵And Davis? TOTAL book boyfriend material himself — steady, grounded, and the exact opposite of the fantasy whirlwind. I loved Davis and Georgia chemistry!🔥

🥺Another thing is I resonated so much with Georgia that it hit way too close to home for me. So I enjoyed it more and had fun looking deeper in the emotional part of the book.

⭐️Perfect for readers who love bookish romcoms with a meta twist, multiple love interests/trope mashups, fmcs figuring out her own happy ending, laugh-out-loud moments alongside sweet romance. 💖Then Book Boyfriends is definitely worth picking up!🙌🏽

Thank you to the Author Melissa Whitney and LoveNotesPR for the opportunity to read this ARC!💛

This is so meta and inventive I had a fun time with it. The FMC is an author and in a twist of magical realism 3 of her fictional MMCs come to life to “help” her with her love life. I LOVE that one of them was from a shifter romance, I literally laughed out loud. So you can tell this author also loves the romance genre.

Unfortunately, it was hard for me at times to stay engaged and I still don’t fully know why. There were magical and charming moments, but then some lulls of info dumping and lost momentum. Also, it just kept rubbing me the wrong way that her best friend since childhood is married to her brother (supposedly happily) but in my opinion he’s awful to the FMC so the varying connections of those relationships just didn’t always add up, felt like her BFF/confidant was complicit.

That being said, I really appreciate a book that has a bit of a meet disaster and allows for character growth of the main characters. The actual love interest is first introduced as a bad first date. But they both have their own arc throughout the rest of the book. I also love that the FMC is also a hospice social worker, just feels like an underrepresented profession that lead to some powerful moments.

Thank you to love notes PR for the eARC!

Book Boyfriends is a fun, flirty, and surprisingly heartfelt romance that kept me smiling all the way through. Melissa Whitney does a great job of blending bookish humor with genuine emotional depth—there were plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, but also some swoony, tender scenes that gave the story weight.

The premise is clever, especially for anyone who has ever secretly wished their favorite fictional crush could come to life. The banter between the characters feels natural and witty, and the romantic chemistry is undeniable. I loved how the story leaned into the “meta” side of being a reader while still giving us a grounded, believable romance.

That said, there were a couple of places where the pacing felt a touch uneven, and I wished for a bit more exploration of the side characters, since they had so much potential. Some of the chat between characters also felt a touch forced. But overall, this was a really charming read that hit the sweet spot between escapist fun and emotional payoff.

If you love romance novels that don’t take themselves too seriously but still deliver on heart and chemistry, Book Boyfriends is definitely worth picking up. A huge thank-you to Love Notes for selecting me for this ARC.

Book Boyfriends by Melissa Whitney
This was such a fun romcom! I loved the idea of Georgias book boyfriends that she wrote coming to life and trying to win her heart. And these men did not disappoint! Also the angst between Georgia and Davis was great and how it melted so quickly in the best way. Also I love the disability representation in the book as well. Also the chronic illness representation in this book with Georgia having Celiac Disease was written so well in my opinion. My sister has celiac disease and I know so many people don’t understand I love seeing it explained in a book through a main character. All and all I really loved this book and I for sure want to read more by Melissa Whitney in the future! Thank you so much for trusting me with an arc of this book 🤍

Note: I received an ARC for this book.

I've been following this author for the longest time and finally, it was time for me to check out her books. Book Boyfriends is about Georgia, a social worker and writer in Orange County, and her three MMC's from previous spicy romance books she has written has come to life (and takes part in her daily life) in 21st century Orange County. We have an Austen coded duke, a snarky, burly werewolf (my fav!), and a cinnamon roll baker from a small town. If you are a reader of romance novels, this is a love letter to the genre. While this might seem like a set up for a dating game - three cuties and a sassy writer, it's not quite the case. A challenger has appeared in the form of a sexy nerd who's totally into Star Trek (he's a TNG type, fyi).

The spice is light, but getting there is worth it. There's a lot of good payoffs and story arcs that get a satisfying resolve. I love the message of this book - everyone deserves a happy ending, even if it's not the one we expect it.

Highly recommend for enjoyers of all romance novels. This one was written just for you!

Thank you to Love Notes PR and the author for the ARC.

3.5 stars, rounded down for me here.

This was one that I wanted to love so much and there were parts of it that I really did. Watching both Georgia and Davis grow individually and together was lovely and sweet and I wish (er, maybe not the best phrase here, ha!) that we had just focused on those two.

The appearance of the three book boyfriends was really hard to wrap my head around the how it all happened, why it happened, even with the book explanations. It wasn't something that I was able to suspend my belief for and I think that was the big sticking point for this one.

The other big issue I had with this one was both of Georgia's brothers and how they treated her, whether that was how they meant it or not. The resolution for those issues, for me, was a bit too simple/easy. And while I could understand Rem's reactions in particular (as an anxious, eldest child), I really struggled with how he came across for the first half to two-thirds of the book.

I did enjoy both the autism and celiac reps here and thought it was done in a really thoughtful way for both characters.

I love me a shy man that turns out to have a dirty mouth.

The first 65% ish of this book has me hooked and then for a minute there lost me a bit but it came back quickly thankfully because I really liked the ending to this book.

And while I loved Davis and everything between Davis and Georgia I wish (wink) that we had more glimpses of the book boyfriends lives in Georgia's world.

This is the story of Georgia, who has an obsession towards happy endings. Like many of us, she thinks about what might happen or should happen and works towards that. I mean what's wrong in working towards your own fate and happiness, right?
But that's not how life works. The vision for an end destroys the middle that we forget to live in the present.
This book puts forward that idea very well with the elements for different worlds and fantasy.

The story progresses with Georgia accidentally wishing her book boyfriends to real life. But as her witchcraft consultant said, "let's not be self centred here". There are many realms other than just ours. So they just transported to our world 🌎
Well, that is the dream right😄 having our book boyfriends irl...but these are characters she wrote, her work, which she already has a happy ending planned out and published. The mystery of what will happen to their lives did kept me reading 🤌🏻❤️
I think i would've love this book more if I read it in my teenage years rather than now, regardless, this is an easy read for when you wanna relax in your couch 🛋️🤍
