In this exciting conclusion to BETWEEN...

A young boy vanishes into the Alaskan wilderness.

It’s a harsh land, and his disappearance barely stirs national interest. But strange signals detected by a nearby observatory raise alarm bells for theoretical physicist Anne Fleming—and send her running to Carpes.

She needs help.
She needs the one person who will never trust her.
She needs Marda.

Joined by Ben, Marda follows a trail that stretches from Carpes to Africa and then to Alaska. There, they discover a vest made from the same alien material as Marda's glove.

This is no longer a missing person's case.
It's a search for a new portal.
A new Stellar Bridge.

But Carpes has been scanned. There are no other bridges. So where does the Alaskan portal lead?

And who—or what—will they find waiting on the other side?

USA TODAY bestselling author Maureen A. Miller worked in the software industry for fifteen years. She crawled around plant floors in a hard hat and safety glasses, hooking up computers to behemoth manufacturing machines. The job required extensive travel. The best form of escapism during those lengthy airport layovers became writing.

Maureen’s first novel, Widow's TALE, earned her a Golden Heart nomination in Romantic Suspense. After that, she became hooked on the genre. As hooked as she was, childhood fantasies still danced around in her head––little voices calling for her to write the young adult science fiction BEYOND series. To her, it was still romantic suspense…just on another planet!

Maureen is a wife. A mother of a crazy Corgi. A lover of mozzarella. And she truly believes there is a portal to outer space somewhere in her house.

I did enjoy reading this unusual and clever book!
Unusual, because I have been reading sci-fi for a very long time, and particularly like it when I see a new idea, or new spin come up.
Clever, as it was that interesting spin on portals/gates between worlds, and especially the way the worlds were connected - difficult not to say too much here - which was well thought out, and easy to understand, yet had that element of physics that I did enjoy. But not too much, so don't get put off by my comment!
The characters were good, and believable, with some being rather nicely crafted. Lots of action! The story was one that I found very difficult to put down, and was finished all too soon.
There is a nice complete ending, but I would just add that the book only really makes sense if you have read the first one in this series.

Sequel to Between--This concludes the series. Don't start with this book! Start with the first one, otherwise, you'll find yourself fairly lost.

If you don't really enjoy the first book, no need to continue the series. The first book ends reasonably well, so if you're not enthused, no need to continue.

The first book telegraphs the relationships that you're likely to see. Some surprises show up, but everything resolves.

It's a pretty lightweight, easy reading. Not much attention span required. I'd call it fine reading for an airplane or on vacation if you don't want to go to the museum. I was not compelled (but then, I was not repelled either…) More than 3 stars, but definitely far from a 5 star for me.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
