After finding Jess in Los Angels JC hires on to help save her ranch. She isn’t thrilled about hiring a killer but doesn’t have any other options. First he has to make sure she is safe. For that he relies on the friends he’s made. After leaving her at the Swift house he deals with the threat in California. Once that’s settled the trail leads him to Colorado, a new villain awaits him there. A man trying to take what he can before a bigger predator comes in.
JC has to trust in people again after the recent lessons in betrayal. Good folks doing the right thing for no other reason. They pitch in when they can to help solve the trouble and keep the young lady safe while he finds solutions that don’t end in unmarked graves. It all helps him get one step closer to Montana and his ranch.
This is the fourth book in the Stone Cold Adventure series. Word can’t express how flattered I am that people are enjoying these. I am learning the lessons with him. Different, but still learning. This is the first book I could afford a proofreader on. I can only hope it helps.
Mr. Knox - I have read your stone Cold Adventure and did not have "a minute where it was not wonderful"! I, beg you to PLEASE - PLEASE - write some more of JC story so that we are entertained with when he reaches his ranch in Montana. You have done such a beautiful job of capturing a new character that I look forward to several more of his stories.
Another great book, keep them coming please. I think that your writing is alot like my most favorite author, the late Great C.J. Petit. Thankyou for your books. Curtis King.
Wow! What a disappointment! No mention of a next book. This one went off the rails from the time we are reacquainted with Elias and Jess. Way too long giving us her mixed up background which is not interesting or necessary. Then we see JC terribly insulted by Jess who we all realized had to be a female from the first time she is introduced, all after saving her and her ranch. The book ends with JC traveling north toward Denver?? The time boring us with Jess’s background could have been used to get JC to Montana. As with all four books, get a proofreader!

Maybe there is another book in this series but "The End" means it in my book. JC is an interesting character and deserves to find that "home" he knows is waiting for him. Jess was a spoiled bitch a d if there is a other book, I hope JC and she doesn't end up with each other! He deserves a better woman than her. TBE book was long for the unsatisfactory Tory end. Sorry, I have read man of books by this author but this was a disappointment.
One of the best books I've read and I've read many, many books in my 81 years. The descriptions of the landscape are very well written, you can almost see the world through his eyes. The amount of action and philosophy are well balanced and well thought out for a young man growing into a man in the West. I like that it makes you think without being "preachy". I hope you will keep the saga of J. C. Stone going. I hope he finds " his" land at last.
A lack of empathy for the suffering of others is one the main characteristics of sociopathy. Coldness toward criminals or those who threaten bodily harm is certainly rational and justifiable, especially in situations like the West. This is a thoughtful treatment of the condition. Knox does a good job with ethics of wealth as well. I hope we see JC evolve further.
I have really enjoyed this series and highly recommend it. The way the writer puts the storyline together is a masterful stroke of the pen. He remarks many times about the song of the land. I never put it together until reading this in the books and totally understand why I enjoyed the woods so much. I highly recommend this series and the author. Hope for more in this series
I gave the book 4 stars despite the annoying grammar mistakes. Happy to read the author is working on correcting this. Following JC on his adventures across the country has kept me entertained and wanting more. From cow punching through Texas, to being a US Marshall JC's character never stops growing. If you like a good Western , horse's and the antics of a true Australian cattle dog. You will enjoy this book!
Hats off to the Author on an excellent sequel in this series. The story moves and develops at a good pace and keeps you wondering what JC will encounter next on his trip to his final home. As well as the lessons he learns. I am eager to read the next book in the series. Strongly recommend this series to readers.
This is book 4 in a series and I thought it significantly better than books 2 and 3. The plot is complex, has well developed characters and doesn’t end with a ‘cliff hanger’ (thanks RK). Recommendable and I’m looking forward to book 5.
A very good series! All ,4. Book's are well written with lots of twists and turns that causes you to think about how wild that time was in the settling of our country . I would recommend this four book series to anyone that enjoys great westerns!
Loved this book! In some places it reminded me of sitting around the dinner table and my grandfather tell stories about the way he felt when he came to the desert. Great storyline!
I just finished a marathon reading of all four Stone Cold books./ I only wish there would be more of JC's books in the future. I read about 5 or 6 books a week and just discovered Mr. Knox's books. I enjoyed them so much. Thank you again Art Moskowitz
The story hasn't ended. I hope. You need to read the series from the beginning to get hooked. The author makes you feel as if you are part of the story and experiencing the song of the old west before it disappeared.
A great read. I read the complete series and look forward to more. His descriptions of the landscape made you feel you were there listening to the song. First time reading Robert Knox. Looking forward to more. Would enjoy reading to find JC making it home.
This is a very well written story that depicts human desires, ambitions, likes and dislikes near reality. I enjoyed the direct method of telling it. I found it to be informative and exciting with no fanfare. I will be sure to read more of Mr. Knox's books.
The book was hard for me to focus on, I believed its because it book four. My mind kelp going back to why I couldn't find books one through three. So the best I can do is a three stars.
Mr. Knox writes so well that you think that you are there and know every character and how they think and feel. Grateful that he got an editor. He needs a better one. There is even an error in the dedication.
This was a great read from the get go. I have read through out the day to day and was determined to finish it before retiring! I will be looKing for another!! Dave Cochran
Good main character. Lots of action, adventure and intrigue. Looking for another one in this series. Have to get JC to Montana and for him to find his own love
There should be a book 5. You can't leave us hanging with no final conclusion. Especially after the ungrateful treatment in the last episode. Unfinished business.
Once into the characters it became a difficult book to let sit. The ups an downs of the episodes kept you turning pages even though you didn't want it to end.
