This book was previously published as "Beautiful Night". This is a stand-alone, full length novel.
Fresh from breaking up with her loser, cheating boyfriend, the last thing recent college grad Sophie Night wants is to find a new guy. She is all about focusing on her blog and then she meets Lucas, the man who changes everything. Lucas Tate is tall, dark, handsome, rich and totally in love with Sophie… until his ex-girlfriend asks him something he never expected.
Sophie’s world gets turned upside down and she has to decide if she is willing to take a chance on love. Will their love prove to be unbreakable, or is Lucas asking too much?
Ashley Blake likes to combine a good romance with steamy love scenes. She has been reading erotic romance for years and believes a good story should have a perfect blend of both. Her goal is to write stories that stimulate your heart and your senses.
At the beginning there are recaps of the past, and then back to the present. Which was a little weird, but went ok in the book. It killed me that Lucas is on friendly terms with his exes and many made appearances. And Lucas didn't seem to understand that this could be uncomfortable for Sophie, and was kind of a jerk about it. I didn't really have a positive view of Lucas. We didn't get to really know anything about him, so I couldn't tell what type of person he was. I will say that I liked that he wanted Sophie from the beginning, and was willing to do what it took to be with her. Sophie didn't have much of a personality, and we were inside her head. And the way she acted towards one of the girls that tags along when they went out rubbed be the wrong way, and made me wonder what her purpose in the story was. This book had instalove. But a stupid kind of instalove where you are screaming YOU DON'T KNOW EACH OTHER, AND HE IS STILL FRIENDS WITH HIS EX, and not a sweet endearing instalove, nor sexy Alpha possessive kind. And boy did that fact just piss me off at the 90% mark, when I was like SEE TOLD YOU IT WAS TOO SOON. At that point, this dropped from 3 star to 1 star. And how I felt about Lucas dropped, the author explained some things that made sense, but the damage was done. And Lucas's actions, or maybe the lack if made it worse.
This book needs editing, some sentences didn't flow properly. And at one point, Lucas calls Sophie, Abby. Another time Sophie and Ellie's names are mixed up
I wanted to like this book, but I just didn't. I have no interest in reading the next in the series.
