This book was the required text for a translation course I took, and on the last day of class we (our professor included) agreed that we could've done without it. It has a very British tone to it, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but as an American student some of the examples sounded a little strange to me. However it did introduce me to some basic concepts of translation, and I'm sure having it lying around will prove useful in the future.
