Emma Reynolds had her life planned--find her estranged father, enroll in college, get her degree, then get her man. In that exact order.
And she was making inroads in that plan. She had found her father, enrolled and completed all but her last week of college, and had found the man she'd love the rest of her life.
But someone thought they had the right to threaten that plan...
Calle Jaye is fun, playful, ironic, professional and sophisticated. She’s super-educated in the field of fiction and would spend most of her time walking around in “Book World” (or”eBook World”).
Does she have slight control freak tendencies? Yep. Why else would she chose to self-publish?
In her day job she gets to read romance novels. In her night job she gets to write them!
Her favorite color is bold purple. She likes rock like Kid Rock, Shinedown, and Nickelback. Add in a bit of Anastacia and Adelle, too.
She collects rocks. Watches crime dramas. Abhors Lifetime Movies and Titanic (especially Leo…) and refuses to read or write about sparkly teen vampires.
She’s married to a cop she strongly suspects is a vampire. They’ve made vampire babies, too.
They live in Indiana with their vampire relatives and their vampire dogs.
The story follows Emma who was been stalked. Her father was a FBI agent and her sister was in the law enforcement as well. Emma had gone through lot of hardships but it never broke her. But this stalking was getting to her. J.T, the male protagonist being an agent himself as well as being a good friend to her family tried to help Emma in every way possible.
They both had feelings for each other but were in denial. Finally when J.T insisted her to stay with him until they find out who the stalker is, that's when they revealed their feelings.
On the other hand, the stalker was keeping a close watch on her. Everyday his intentions were becoming more and more deadly and vicious.
Throughout the book there was no indication as to who the stalker is. Although there were a few hints dropped but it can be quickly brushed off as reader's paranoia since this was designed to make think every character was hiding something.
There isn’t much to it. There’s the outline of a story here, that’s about it. We even totally miss the payoff at the end. Disappointing. I wish she would go back and flesh this out to make it a real story.
I liked the chemistry between Emma and J.T. and I also liked that the usual boring back-and-forth was limited because both main characters were willing to go for what they wanted. However, as Emma’s background and life experience is entirely different to J.T’s there would’ve been a lot of space to elaborate on issues that might’ve be based on these differences and carve out their personalities a bit better. The biggest drawback of the book was unfortunately that there wasn’t a real development regarding the villain. He was just caught and this was it! I expected much more in this respect and this thread was completely unsatisfactorily.
Nevertheless a nice read, although at times I thought maybe this was a bit too short and one dimensional because there was definitely more potential.
This is a short but sweet Christmas Novella featuring Emma and Hot Geek J.T. When Emma finds herself bring stalked it acts as the catalyst to bring her together with Josh's friend and fellow agent J.T. As everyone pulls together to protect her, Emma finally tells the man she adores how she feels and to her joy finds that he shares her feelings. Now they just need to stop the stalker to ensure that Emma and J.T. have a Christmas to remember for all the right reasons.
This was a freebie (yay) but there were a few typos throughout and at one point the author completely changed the spelling of one of the character's names. That being said, this story was short and sweet and I loved both characters but I felt like she wrapped it up way too quickly and a few more chapters and no typos would have made it a 5 star read for me.
It's bad when you have a stalker, but it is worse when you have to finish your semester exams. Emma finds a note and a rose in her car after class so she calls her friend J.T. She doesn't want to call her dad the FBI agent J.T. Works for them too. But she has a mad crush on him. Will she finally tell him and catch the bad guy.
I read book #1 in the series about 5 years ago, it was free, my first by this author and it was acceptable. A short while ago I downloaded a few more freebies including this. It is very short, even for a novella. He is almost 30, she is 21 and a bit too twee for me but it passed the time in the hairdressers today. Probably my last by this author.
The author pulls the reader into the non-existent love life of the two main characters. The both want love but appreciate their friendship too much to rock the boat. Then Emma gets threatened and the reader is thrust into their inner most thoughts. Predictably they make through this and come out the other side with a great start to their new relationship.
Three-quarters of the way along, hanging on every mechanical word from Amy (GBR) text to speech, I found myself nodding off in mid-chapter; had to back up and re-read it.
I finished this in less than a day. It was well written and the characters were delightful however - if you had not read about them in prior books in this series, your ideas on this couple might be different, certainly limited.
This was a great novella letting us get to know Emma and JT better. The story was more about the case and stalker, but it gave us insight into their relationship. It didn't go into the why or reason she was being stalked but I still loved the book.
Very disappointing, which is a shame as I enjoyed the other two books by Brookes that I have read. There was no suspense and the characters were flat. The stalker harasses Ellie and then is caught, but we hadn’t got to know anything about this miscreant in the lead up.
Usually short or filler stories are a let down! This wasn't. The character definitely didn't need a full length book, as the storyline didn't warrant it, but it was good to fill in the storyline of a minor fish character.
I liked the characters but they didn't really match their experiences being so naive. The ending seemed a bit rushed but it is still a really cute story.
This was a freebie, so that's nice, but... It really needs some editing. Not much suspense for a suspense book, and I'm no expert, but is it called "stalking" if someone leaves a note in your car once?
Emma, Dan's second oldest daughter, finds she has a stalker when she returns to her car and finds it's been broken into. She doesn't want to freak her dad out so she calls her long time crush and best friend, J.T. - a computer tech agent with PAVAD. This is a pretty short novella so there's not a lot of plot or character development. It's best to read after reading at least the third book, Reuniting (which is part of the Second Chances bundle) which details how the Reynolds family is reunited and gives this novella depth. I liked Emma when she was first introduced and I liked reading about her happy ending. I don't really have any strong feelings about J.T. but he was alright too. Overall a sweet little interlude. 3.5 stars.
This was a short, but very sweet story. JT is absolutely adorable, and Emma is a cutie pie herself. I wish there was a little more action to the stalker story, but since this was meant to be a novella, I understand the swiftness to which the stalker was apprehended. What was missing was why? Why did the stalker want her, and what did he hope to gain by harassing her? What was his endgame? We never really got to hear from him, except for the note. There should have been some interrogation, or more escalation of danger. This one was rather tame compared to the rest of the series. Don't remember it being very "Christmassy" though.🤔But I did like JT and Emma together.
