The Avalon Protocol

Rate this book
When Eliot, an ordinary guy, witnesses something extraordinary, he lands in the clutches of a villain with God-like ambitions.
Enter a mischievous genius, and reluctant hero, who treats reality like her personal sandbox; the last person you’d expect to crash our villain’s party like she misplaced her keys. Rescue wasn’t really on the menu, but hey, since she was in the neighbourhood…
Now Eliot is swept into a surreal battle for the fabric of existence, clinging to the one person who seems to understand any of it, though she insists it’s all just a bit of fun. But as the stakes spiral from weird to cosmic, and a darker plot begins to unfold before them, Eliot begins to wonder if life can ever be normal again.
Fast-paced, darkly funny, and full of strange twists, The Avalon Protocol is a genre-smashing sci-fi adventure where the universe is just another system to crack.

Another great one from Q. Harveson. I love reading the Snake in the Willows series. The books definitely build on each other but if you read them out of order you wouldn't be lost. And the author manages to do this with out the boring recap that you so often get in a series. (You know what I mean, the 'when we last left Johnny he was staring into the well' kind of thing) When this author uses excerpts from a previous book, they are woven into the story in such a way that you don't feel like you are just reading the same material. Very clever.
This particular book is told from the point of view of an average guy, who is describing the workings of the universe through the eyes of his super-genius new best friend. When you connect this to the other books in the series, a book of short horror stories, one about a hero teddy bear and a semi-historical account of Tesla and Edison, you might wonder; How? But trust me it all makes sense!
This is a fun and inventive series and I can't wait to see more!

The Avalon Protocol is a wildly inventive, darkly funny sci-fi adventure that grabs you from the first page and never lets go. Q. Harveson blends sharp humor, fast-paced action, and mind-bending cosmic stakes into a story that feels both fresh and brilliantly chaotic. Eliot is a relatable everyman caught in a reality-warping storm, and Avalon equal parts genius, menace, and reluctant hero is an unforgettable force of nature. Clever, strange, and endlessly entertaining, this book is a must-read for anyone who loves smart, imaginative sci-fi with a wicked twist.
