Walker, M.Msc., Reiki Master/Teacher, writes both fiction and nonfiction books with a metaphysical and spiritual component. Her fiction expresses a visionary/metaphysical message that illustrates growth in a character's consciousness while utilizing a paranormal aspect. Her nonfiction books share insight, hope, and inspiration. Those who search for meaning and the supernatural in themselves will enjoy her books. Even though Chariss also writes dark-fiction about insanely dark topics, such as sexual abuse, incest, pedophilia, sexual assault, and other inappropriate dinner conversation, there is always an essential question of the abstract nature that gives a reader increasing awareness and perception. Thanks to James’ psychic vision he is able to thwart a lot of incoming trouble for the group. Unfortunately, he doesn’t always have the foresight when it is needed.
As I have stated before--this series really has to be read in order! When the last book left off James is carted off to a Mexican jail-even though he was only defending himself--what happens in there--oh my gosh!! Luckily all the people who know him do manage to get him out! It takes a while for him to recover--but he does!
Meanwhile, amidst all the redoing of office and storage space-he "sees" that his wife is pregnant-but wants her to figure it out on her own---and a baby girl is adopted by his wife's sister and her girlfriend.
Another cliffhanger as the baby is abducted by ---guess I will have to read Book 4 to find out!
This author is a MASTER of cliffhangers--they definitely will keep you reading this series!!! Window's Pane
Window's Pane (The Vision Chronicles Book 3) by Chariss K. Walker is an intriguing book. I gave it five stars.
It continues where Spyglass, The Vision Chronicles Book 2 stopped. After Nate rammed his truck, they got into an altercation where James and he were both arrested in spite of witnesses telling that Nate was the instigator. Nate had guns and drugs in the trunk of his car. They were thrown into a Mexican jail.
"The single cell was only one of many in a row of possibly 20 others. It was difficult to tell in the dim light of the building. It could’ve been 30 or even a 100 more. Each one was filled to capacity and a low murmur of despair and sorrow seeped through the bars like fog. I’d heard stories about the fighting that often breaks out in jail or prison, but these poor souls were too dejected and miserable to fight among themselves or cause any problems."
Danny worked to locate James and when she discovered he was in prison, did everything she could to get him released. Meanwhile, he was being tortured regularly and weakening.
After Danny and six of James' friends formed a group and talked to the jailer, El Capitán Rodriguez, he was finally released. When he was home Danny called Joe & then later James was able to talk with him.
"James was glad to hear Joe’s voice. So glad, in fact, that he choked up when he heard the slightly slow, southern drawl. Joe might’ve lived in New York for over 25 years, but he’d never lose the dialect from Vicksburg, Mississippi. Joe waited while James struggled with his emotions."
After his return to Las Cruces, the dojo was complete and he started teaching Danny, Patty and Sands self defense techniques. He also had brief therapy to help him relieve the bitterness from being unjustly imprisoned.
I received a complimentary copy from the Author. That did not change my opinion for this review.
I look forward to reading Windows All Around (The Vision Chronicles Book 4).
This is the third book of the Vision series and so far this series has taken me on a rollercoaster! Just for a side note, The epilogue and the first chapters are almost identical, instead of an epilogue, it would be more beneficial to the reader for it to state, stay tuned for a sneak peek to the next addition of the series or something along those lines.
This book takes off with the focus of Nate continuing to harass and torment the Lewis Family. It also sheds light on the some information regarding PTSD. James is able to recover from his PTSD and ends up going to counseling for it and while his counselor ends up being the counseled.
Baby Kathleen is in the picture and it is uncanny of how much she looks like Patty. In this book you see the characters all develop more and your able to see not only what they are going through but the maternal and paternal sides of the characters.
This is great book and I like how the series keeps getting more evolved with how James's ability is able to change and improve
I love this series! The books are not standalone, and each one leaves you breathlessly waiting for the next! The characters are very likeable and the story is intriguing. Don't miss this exciting series.
With this being the third book in the series, I am finally accustomed to the situation, the fast pace and the characters. I love it. There are times when I worry about the characters because I get so caught up in the story, but I keep reminding myself that this is a long story and nowhere near finished.
There is happy news in this book as the lead characters all seem to be achieving their goals and seeing their dreams come true A lot of the time is spent watching their lives unfold and daily routines continue. Of course there are some surprises and difficulties, one of which happens at the end of the book and throws the lives of two of them into chaos. I know the answer will come in the next book and can hardly wait to get reading it.
Just when everything seems good, another hurdle comes up. This was pretty stressful in the beginning of the book, but knowing there were more books in the series I was able to get to the good part. New developments with the psychic ability were an interesting addition. Wouldn’t it be cool if reading these books could trigger these abilities for us too?
In this third book of the Vision Chronicles, hero, James (Mike) Lewis is in a Mexican prison, arrested for public fighting. He was followed into Mexico by his wife's violent stalker, Nate Potter. Hoping to get Nate arrested, James allows Nate to hurt him. Big mistake, because the Mexican police interpret his injuries as evidence that James has been fighting.
James is starved and tortured for several days, but is released thanks to the testimony of his Mexican friends/business partners who rally on his behalf. Up to this point, the book is interesting. But when James is back in the States, the pace slows to a crawl.
About 3/4th's of the remainder of the book is a nice story about the perfect lives that are possible if you have money and can convince the people you love to accept your largesse. James and Sands are rich. And between the two of them, they make all their loved ones' dreams come true, treat their growing number of employees as family and train them in self-defense at their request in a custom-built dojo. All the employees and family members are women and they all worship James for his wisdom, generosity and self-defense expertise. Very nice, but very boring.
The title "Window's Pane" refers to how James sees his visions. Instead of seeing them as a kaleidoscope or through a spyglass, he now sees them as if looking through a window pane.
At the end of the book, the author provides a hook to get the reader to read the next book in the series. Alas, I have thrown the hook. While "Kaleidoscope" was great and "Spyglass" was good, "Window's Pane" was dull. I can't recommend this book.
