★★★★★Serving Pride by Jill Sanders (The Pride Series Prequel Book 0.5)

I was given this Beta in exchange for my honest opinion.

Curious about the town of Pride prior to Megan Kimble's arrival? Well here is a nice little novella to soothe your curiosity. This is the beginning, but also overlaps the series.

How did the town get the hot, new lead sheriff? Robert Brogan was classmates with Todd Jordan, so we know he's young. A little unusual to have someone so young, in a power role like that.

Robert loved the town of Pride, but he had to know what happened to his mother. So he finished high school, saving a few people along the way. Then he heads out to see the world and find his mother. After ten years of searching, without any definitive answers, he returns to Pride.

Returning to Pride will change his life forever. He runs into his childhood crush, and still gets all gooey inside. His friends the Jordan family suffer a terrible accident, leaving their father dead and the youngest, Iian permanently deaf. And though the changes are rough and sometimes heart breaking, they are all steps to becoming the man we know today.

Thanks to the author for giving me MORE. But I still want more, lol.

Acest short-story trebiua sa fie o introducere in lumea minunata a orasului Pride.

This was a short sweet listen the author gives you a little mystery as well as a cute sweet romance. There is nothing worse than being a small child losing your father and having your mother come up missing. This can destroy a young child not knowing why, when or how she left. The book starts off with Robert losing his mother and the trying time he had. This was a very heartbreaking listen as he tries to make them understand his mother would never have left him with no one listening to his cries it just breaks your heart. He then moves out of state with his aunt who adores him. The book moves on to ten years later when he really gets to know Amelia when he saves her most likely from a rape. We than move ahead another 10 years to him coming back to pride working for Amelia father. This is when the book really takes off the author covers a lot in a short time never leaving anything out or you guessing as to what will happen.

Robert life has always been about finding his mother and the answers to her leaving him. Years later as an adult this still haunts him. He has had a very happy loving time with his aunt but she is still not his mother. The book is mostly about hunting down his mother and her than boyfriend. When both Robert and Amelia both come home they start seeing each other. There is a great attraction as it was many years ago the pull is strong as these two become very close and fall in love.

Tanya Eby does a great narration of this story. I have always liked her character voices. It is easy to tell if it is male or female. She never leaves you guess as to who is saying what. I did hear more of her accent in this one more than in the others. The audio it’s self is smooth with no background noise. If any editing was done you can’t tell it. Her voice is smooth and clear, she hits the correct tones and gives life to the audio. I am always happy to listen to her audios and look forward to listening to more from her.

The author never said who or what broke into Roberts’s home and trashed it. It would have been nice to know. I was glad to see he had closure as he builds a life with Amelia. This was a cute listen you can have finished in not time. Me I got my front yard mowed and had the pleasure of listening to the author and narrators story. I always enjoy Ms. Sanders short stories they are always full of some little mystery as she gives you a heartwarming romance. You can get this book for free if you sign up for her newsletter. I believe this was one of those you can buy the book and get the audio for 1.99 which is the way I went. It is worth your time and a pleasant read. I really enjoy it.

I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review, so here it is. This one starts out the night of Robert's eight birthday. He had a great time, friend, presents and lots of games. When his mothers boyfriend Roy starts drinking, he fights with Robert's mother and then leaves. Robert checks on her and falls asleep in her arms. When he wakes the next morning, his mother is gone and Roy is passed out on the couch. After a few days of being on his own, he goes to the principle and tells him his mother is gone and he is alone. He is sent to live with his only family, his aunt Daisy in Pride Oregon. After 10 years, he has a great life there but not knowing what happened to his mother, he leaves in search of answers. After another 10 years he returns home and starts working at the sheriff's department. When sheriff David Blake dies, his daughter returns for the funeral. Amelia Blake is a beautiful as Robert remembers. He has lived her for so many years. They begin dating, Robert wants forever with her but is it too soon? What happens when Roy shows up? Will Robert ever learn the truth about his mother? This is a great story and I loved it. I love Jill's writing style and can't wait for more in this series.

Robert's eight birthday was a great day - cake, party, friends and his mum. But such a great day leads to tragedy. He hears his mother being beaten up by her bum of a boyfriend. He creeps in to comfort her but when he waked up in the morning she has vanished. He's left in the care of the scumbag Roy and later manages to tell his school what happened and he is shipped off to Oregon to live with his great aunt.

The mystery of his mothers disappearance shapes his life. He becomes a cop, just like his late father. He moves back to be near his frail aunt. He's welcomed back home, after all he's the boy who saved Sheriff Blakes daughter from being raped.

When sheriff David Blake dies, his daughter, Amelia, returns for the funeral. She took his advice after high school to travel and is now a veterinarian. She returns home to look after her mother and they begin dating.

Robert wants forever but are they moving too fast? Does she want forever? Will he find his mother or will he be haunted by her disappearance forever?

I loved Jill's writing style and can't wait for more in this series

Not all good guys wear white hats. Robert Brogan’s mother mysteriously disappeared on his eighth birthday. The next few days saw him anxiously awaiting her return but he eventually had to face the fact that he was alone. When he explained his situation to the school principal, Mr. Kent, Child Protective Services were called and a week later he arrived in Portland, Oregon to meet his great-aunt Daisy. Ten years later on the eve of his graduation, he came to the rescue of Amelia Blake. Amelia was a redheaded beauty he had silently admired for years. Not being the really outgoing type, he became particularly tong tied in her presence; thus the role of secret admirer took form. Her sudden need for protection caused their paths to cross. Another ten years pass before he met her again. The soft spot she occupied in his heart never waned and hopes of possibly starting a serious relationship filled his mind. He wasn’t alone in this optimism. This is a short, highly readable story of a simmering love that eventually takes hold and flies. A list of who’s who wouldn’t have been amiss as the reader is sometimes smothered is small town characters. However, the two main characters stay firmly in the story’s spotlight making this a feel-good story the reader isn’t likely to forget anytime soon. I think this story and writer will appeal to many and I highly recommend it to all that enjoy the joys of romance and pure love.

I received a free copy of this book from Joining Jill Sanders newsletter subscription.

I had previously read

Finding Pride and really enjoyed it. This book takes place before that book even though it was released later.

In this novella we learn about Robert's childhood before he came to Pride to live with his Aunt, and his life once he is living with her.

Robert had a trouble childhood with his Mom being abused by her boyfriend. The day after Robert turns eight his Mom disappears. And then so does her boyfriend. Robert always thought that there was foul play even as a child but couldn't prove it.

Amelia is Sheriff Blake's daughter when she and Robert were teenagers Robert had seen two boys from school cornering her and trying to touch her but Robert stepped in and stopped them. From that day on Sheriff Blake and his wife consider him Amelia's hero.

Fast forward ten years and Sheriff Blake dies and Amelia comes home to care for her mother. She sees Robert again after him being away from Pride for the last ten years. Sparks fly and lets just say the rest is history.

I enjoyed this quick read. It was nice to get a little back story on some of the characters that you read about in the other books of the pride series.

3 e 1/2

I enjoyed this story, I thought the characters were good, I loved Robert. He's sweet and sensitive but sexy and kick butt too. Amelia, she's sweet too and has such a great personality. I loved these two together, I liked how they always thought of each other when they were away. I just felt the story was a little lost in the emotion. There was a lot of emotional parts but they seemed glossed over almost, it was a good story and I enjoyed the small town people and Robert being sheriff (which everyone in town loved, including Amelia's mother) but I just felt parts were to step by step no real wow to them. I would love to read more by this author I think she has a great characters and interesting plots. 3.5 to 4 stars review by Nanee at upallnightreadallday.blogspot.com

This was a prequel to Finding Pride but was actually written afterwards. It was a quick read about the town Sheriff and his life. Even though it was a short story it didn't feel rushed as some do. You get to know both of the main characters well and everything is closed up nicely at the end with a very short epilogue.

This book sells for $1.99 on Amazon but I actually received for it free by signing up for the authors newsletter. If you read as much as I do, it's nice to save a little money on books now and then and since I liked the first book, I'll happy to hear when new books come out that she's written. It's a win, win situation if you ask me.

This story novella is set about ten years before the first novel about the town of Pride. It is the story of how Robert and Amelia met and fell in love. It is also the story of Robert's search for his mother who disappeared when he was eight.

Robert returns to Pride after searching for his mother for about ten years and gets a job as a sheriff's deputy. When the sheriff dies his daughter, Amelia, returns to Pride and they reconnect.

This is, as I said, a short novella about small town life. The people are kind and everyone knows your business and you can't get away with anything. Robert has been in love with Amelia since his first day of second grade when he moved to Pride.

This is a short story or novella from the Pride Series and while I'm always up for a great visit to Pride Oregon, this one left me wanting more. The story was great and I loved getting the back story of the main characters, I just wish the book was much longer...what can I say, I'm greedy! I always hate leaving Pride at the end of each book, this one just got me to the end too quickly! I would say if you are into the series, you should definitely pick it up. It really helped develop the characters even more.

This is my problem with books with explicit sexual content - they usually lack a plot line.
This is not the case with this book by Jill Sanders. Although the plot is simplistic it is also comfortable and fills in the more explicit scenes with something more than mere filler.

This is an extremely fast and easy read. If this is your genre of choice -- go ahead. You will love this series.

A very fun, short, and sexy read that is the prequel to the Pride Series from Jill Sanders! I love the Pride series so of course I loved meeting town sheriff Robert and showing off the town. I love stories set in small towns anyway and this was really well written. My newest favorite of the Pride Series by far!!!!

After figuring out this book should have been the first one I actually enjoyed it. I personally don't like when authors write a couple of books and then write one that deals with the character's when they were younger. On that note, I did enjoy reading this book and was routing for the sheriff the whole time.

Going After What You Want!!!

Robert and Amelia.....two souls who have been destined to be together.....One incident in their youth bonded them to each other forever....They both had to go their separate ways only to find their way back to each other years later.....Life is too short so they followed their hearts with no regrets and it all worked out in the end......Two thumbs up.

Portland, OR. Principal Mr. Kent listened to Robert Brogan’s story.
The father had died in a car accident, & mom had disappeared.
He had Mary (secretary) call CPS.
Pride, OR. Robert went to stay with Great Aunt Daisy (wheelchair).
10 yrs. later. Kevin (former HS jock), & Ricky (former HS jock), had Amelia Blake backed up against the fence.

The 2 of them ganged up on Robert.
Todd Jordan (BMF) & Ian Jordan (brother) arrived in the nick of time.
Dr. Stevens (f) informed him he had a broken rib & a punctured lung.
Ricky & Kevin Williams spent the night in a cell.
So much for HS graduation.
10 yrs. later. Portland OR. Amelia (vet) & her Siamese cat were headed back to Pride, OR.

Sheriff David Blake had passed away.
Mrs. Blake had endured the funeral/burial.
Sheriff Robert Brogan was making his rounds about town.
Amelia had decided to stay.
George Jordan (Jordan Shipping international co. owner) & Iian Jordan were missing somewhere off the coast of OR. It was Ian’s birthday bash.
Iian had been found alive & was life-lined to Edgeview hospital.
Much later, Iian had been released from the hospital, George was never found.
Is there a romance in they air between Robert & Amelia?

tow hours (pg. 85)

Warning: This book contains adult content, violence, or expletive language &/or uncensored sexually explicit material which is only suitable for mature readers. It may be offensive or have potential adverse psychological effects on the reader.

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one. All thoughts & opinions are entirely my own.

A very awesome book cover, & great font/writing style. A very well written romance (short story) book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great romance movie, or better yet a mini TV series. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

Thank you for the free Author; PDF book

I love this series. I have read 4 of the books in this series and have loved them all. There were a few errors but nothing I couldn't just overlook. The characters, Robert and Amelia, were entertaining and so lovable. You can't help but feel for Robert as a child and through his life in dealing with his past. The stories in this series can each be read as a stand-alone with its own HEA. There are small crossovers here and there, because it all takes place in the small town of Pride, Oregon, and you can't help but meet up with other characters in a small town, whether it be at a funeral, the local restaurant, or your child's ball game, but the majority of each story are our hero and heroine. This story and the rest of this amazing series are a must read. Jill Sanders is a talented writer and I love her work.
