*Prequel novella to Lure (The Allure Chronicles #1)*
Never agree to a road trip to New Orleans with your roommate. At least not when your roommate is dragging you along while she reconnects with an ex-boyfriend. Possible consequences of failing to take my advice:
1) Unknowingly going out with a vampire stripper 2) Getting kidnapped by said vampire's nest mates 3) Falling head over heels for your winged hero
Believe it or not number 3 is the worst one, especially when no one believes you that he exists.
Alyssa Rose Ivy is the bestselling author of more than forty novels with over one million books sold worldwide. She loves to weave stories with romance and humor, and she is best known for writing about college boys with wings. After surviving law school and earning her masters in library science, she turned back to her creative side and decided to write. Although raised in the New York area, she fell in love with the South after moving to New Orleans for college. She lives in Alabama with her two children, and she can usually be found with a cup of coffee in her hand.
It is about time Owen got his story out there! I am so excited for what book one will hold after reading this. I can tell, once again, Alyssa has written another amazing story in the world of the Pterons!
May I just start out by saying that this cover doesn't represent this story in any way. This story is at the most PG-13. This cover almost made me not want to pick this up to read because it infers SO much if someone just happened to glance over at what you're reading when you first open this up on a phone or tablet or just scrolling through your ebook library.
The story started out really slow and I didn't really know what to expect. It was your typical college room mates convincing the studious one to take a chance on an "awesome" party. Daisy starts out being the good girl guys don't really pay much attention to. So when she and her BFF get to her BFF's almost boyfriend's house things start out weird. There are two guys that come on strong and you never know what to believe. Every prediction I made was wrong, which was a nice change from recent books.
When the sh*t finally hits the fan things start to pick up. She gets saved from a dire situation and BOOM it's love at third sight from a guy that didn't even give her the time of day at a club. The guy ends up being the future main character: Owen and also a pretty darn awesome supernatural.
Conclusion: I want to know what will happen between Owen and Daisy now more then ever. This prequel teased just enough about him for me to want to find out more. I can also guess at what will happen thanks to Daisy and her stubborn streak.
Another fantastic read from Alyssa Rose Ivy!! Just one I think I couldn't possibly love another series, she gives me this! I have been a fan of Owen's since we met him in The Crescent Chronicles and have been wanting to know more about his character. So, I'm super excited that his story is finally being told. Seduction's Kiss is a wonderful asset to the paranormal world that Alyssa Rose Ivy has created. As far as paranormal goes, this book had it all: witches, magic, voodoo, vampires and of course Pterons!
Seduction's Kiss may only be a novella, but boy does it deliver. This book pulls you in from the very beginning and keeps you on your toes, wondering what is really going on. People are not who or what they seem. I loved the mystery and suspense of the story. The pull between Owen and Daisy is fantastic! I can't wait to see more of the two of them together! This really is an exciting start to this series! I am super excited to be going back into the world of Pterons and can't wait to see where Alyssa Rose Ivy is going to take me next!
* I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*
This was my first book read by Alyssa Rose Ivy... and guess what?!? She has a new fan!!!
As this was a prequel novella it was a pretty short read, however I think it was perfect in setting up the personalities of the main character as well as introducing us to the paranormal world Alyssa has built.
The story is told through heroine's - Daisy - POV. It is everything that a supernatural story needs - a needy a friends who drags a friend across state lines promising a good time for Halloween at New Orleans. Since Daisy is a good friend that when she finds out she basically is stuck with a lovesick college roommate who actually trying to reconnect with an ex, dealing with some roommates who are just weird or beyond grabby-hands stranger-danger zone. So what does a girl do when all she wants to do is escape from all that? Well explore NOLA of course and find more trouble!
Everywhere she goes she seems to be a magnet for attracting the weird, which we all know just means SUPERNATURAL. Trying to find a good thing happen out of awkward situation Daisy gets into some serious supernatural trouble. Her rescue? Well of course it would be a handsome stranger that she kept running into during her nightly bar crawl excursions.
On top of her rescue she discovers more than she could ever learn being cooped up in her dorm... a very important detail about her and her place in this Supernatural world.
Overall, this is a must-read, must-conitunue series that has great writing style that draws you in & keeps you there with perfect story telling sprinkled with just enough humor/snarky sarcasm!
This was a fantastic read and I can't wait to get my hands on the full novel to find out more about Daisy and her Winged Hero!
Alyssa Rose Ivy had done it again! Seduction's Kiss is a prequel novella to the Allure Chronicles. Which is a new adult paranormal romance series set in her awesome world of New Orleans with all the paranormals we know and love from her. This is a companion series to both the Crescent Chronicles and the Empire Chronicles. (and kind of the Dire series as well) I love that they are all set in the same universe because we gets lots of cross over. Seduction's Kiss is a lovely little set up to the series, and best of all, it is FREE on amazon. So you have no excuse to not go out and grab a copy ASAP. And Lure, the first full length book in the series, released earlier this week. I can't wait to read it myself, especially after having my appetite whetted from Seduction's Kiss.
Seduction's Kiss and the Allure Chronicles follow Daisy ( a non- paranormal) and Owen, a character from previous books. Daisy is dragged to New Orleans for a weekend with one of her sorority sisters so her friend can reconnect with an old flame. And let's just say that Daisy doesn't have the best weekend. She runs into all sorts of problems, but the interesting part about this novella is that it starts out with a flash forward, where Daisy is all swoony about this amazing kiss that she had. So even in the midst of all this awful stuff she keeps attracting, you just know that this great kiss is somewhere around the corner for her. It made me fly through the pages, because I wanted to find out what these kiss circumstances where.
Alyssa Rose Ivy is a master at setting the stage for a kick-ass story. I love her set up and lead up, and all the details in between. I know that the title of the book seems pretty steamy, but it really isn't (yet, at least) it was a voodoo thing that Daisy got while exploring New Orleans. But I can already tell that Daisy and Owen are going to be a couple that I just fall in love with. Seduction's Kiss was the perfect start up to the allure chronicles. It certainly did its' job. I am allured with the books already. I can't wait to start Lure. This review was originally posted on Book Briefs

I received Seductions Kiss in return for an honest review from the author. Daisy didn’t want to go to New Orleans for Halloween but her roommate/sorority sister wants to see the one who got away so she agrees. Upon arriving in New Orleans it’s clear that the guys aren’t living in the lap of luxury and her sleeping choices are going to be lacking. It’s while in the club that Daisy decides to go for it and walks up to an attractive blonde guy who brushes her off.
Thankfully the roommate offers up his bed, but neglects to tell Daisy he plans to join her. After a rough night Daisy leaves early to explore finding herself on the doorstep of a voodoo shop with its owner creating a Seduction Kiss for her. On her way out the second night she catches a glimpse of him with beautiful black wings but things go terribly wrong when she finds out what’s in store for her.
Love Daisy she’s so sweet reminds me of myself a little willing to drive 7 hours so her friends can see a guy. We only get a little taste of who Owen is but wow I can’t wait to see more of him. Her friend I was a little worried about but in the end she proved she’s a real friend and I’m curious to see if we will see more of them.
I honestly didn’t read the synopsis because the book came from one of my favorite authors so I had no idea what I was getting into. Seduction’s Kiss is a fast paced paranormal story that just teases you with enough that you can’t wait for the next book to come out. The paranormal in this series so far are witches, vampires and my personal favorite the Pterons. Seduction’s Kiss is beautifully written it’s easy to get lost in such a captivating world. I’m really excited to see how Daisy’s story will play out in the new series Allure. I honestly loved every moment of the book it’s beautifully done and exactly what I’ve come to expect from an Alyssa Rose Ivy novel awesomeness.
Definitely a promising start to a paranormal series! I read the blurb once and decided I wanted to try this series. Then I completely forgot about it until I received the eARC. I have to say that it was a good thing I forgot because it increased my enjoyment going into the novella blank.
Daisy gets roped into visiting New Orleans for the weekend with her roommate. Of course, her roommate's there for a guy but it seems like said guy has a nice cute roommate for Daisy too. Until we find out their other roommate's not so normal and crazy things happen. There's a bizarre kidnapping followed by a breezy rescue. Our mysterious heroes leave Daisy gasping for breath and it's only just the beginning ;)
So the supernatural creatures. I thought we were done with these beings (angels, werewolves, demons, ghosts, what else is there?) but apparently there are more! The vampires were very blunt and dare I say, horny. If you read this novella, you'll see what I mean. I was less than impressed because they sounded like a bunch of hormonal airheads. What got me excited though were the Pterons. I'm looking forward to learning more about them because it sounds like they're something special!!
The sneak peek into the series was fun and I like what Seduction's Kiss stood for. I will be keeping my eyes out for Lure!
Seduction's Kiss is the prequel to Lure, the first book in the Allure Chronicles by Alyssa Rose Ivy. I love love love how this author is extending the world she originally created in the Crescent Chronicles to other new and equally addictive series. I think I remember mention of vampires in one of the other series, but now we finally get to see them. I already like the characters within this new series, and the story has already reeled me in. Seduction's Kiss gave me just enough of a taste to drive me crazy for more.
The ARC of Seduction's Kiss by Alyssa Rose Ivy was kindly provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.
I love when I am pleasantly surprised by a book, especially a novella which I find harder to rate because I never feel like I get enough information, but that is exactly what happened with Seduction's Kiss, only I was transported and drawn in by the variety of characters. I enjoyed getting a glimpse into the world of Humans, Vampires and Pterons and I can't wait to read the story of Daisy and Owen.
I had read this short story previously in the Midnight Kiss Analogy and loved it. Did a re-read today and loved it even more.
Plus there is the first four chapters of Lure...
I have officially gone to book heaven!
Final thoughts, I love Daisy's character as much as Allie in Crescent Chronicles. I cannot wait until Lure's release. Oh, and Owen Kaye.. I freaking love you!
Blurb: Never agree to a road trip to New Orleans with your roommate. At least not when your roommate is dragging you along while she reconnects with an ex-boyfriend. Possible consequences of failing to take my advice:
1) Unknowingly going out with a vampire stripper. 2) Getting kidnapped by said vampire's nest mates. 3) Falling head over heels for your winged hero.
Believe it or not number 3 is the worst one, especially when no one believes you that he exists.
Daisy never thought that taking a simple road trip from Atlanta Georgia to New Orleans Louisiana would turn her world upside down, turn it inside out and stomp on a piece of her she didn't know was there. She has no will power to tell her friend and roommate-Reyna- no when she said she wanted to go. It was Halloween weekend after all. What would it hurt? Uh, scratch that how much pouting could she put up with if she said no.. that’s more like the right question. So, she agrees. And after a day of driving, since with traffic their 7 hour drive was more like 10 she was a bit surprised to find her friend’s friend that was just a boy lived in a house with a roommate. But when Reyna’s boy friend opened the door and called her baby she knew she was in for a lonely weekend. She was ready for it to be over already.
Chad -Reyna’s man- let them in and as Daisy looked around she ran into Shaun in the living room. He was nice and even offered her his room to sleep in when she made a disgusted face at their couch. She thought nothing of that… but when she woke up in the middle of the night with Shaun groping her boob she figured out exactly what he wanted. And that wasn’t happening. She did wind up on the couch in her sleeping bag. It was then that she met the ‘weird’ roommate Duncan. He was weird but seemed okay. After a nights sleep she was greeted to waking and being stared at by Shaun. Dude couldn't take a hint. (laughs) So Daisy did what anyone else would have. She got up, showered and went to look around the town. I mean it’s New Orleans, not like there isn’t plenty to do. Even early in the morning.
As she made her way around looking at a few of the galleries in the area she came across one and the man was very nice to her. Harold is his name and as they look around at his photos he asked her about her time here and as they talked he told her a ‘voodoo’ shop to take a peak in. The Midnight Cauldron -owned and run by Kalisa- is a bit of a shock for her.. but its the reaction she gets from Kalisa that makes her weary. Kalisa questions her about her love life basically then performs a little bit of magic for her.
Without warning she pressed her thumb across my forehead. “I call this Seduction’s Kiss.” She ran her finger back and forth over my skin. The mixture was warm- nearly hot. “Be very careful child. Seduction’s Kiss can be extremely dangerous.”
From their her day is normal. When she returns home she finds out she will be going out to dinner with Shaun, Chad and Reyna. Of course she isn't happy about the whole going anywhere with Shaun thing but she does. For Reyna. And of course Shaun made a play at her and it had her leaving them in the restaurant. By the time they got back to the house she was ten shades of pissed and refusing to go anywhere else he was. HA! The argument was stopped when Duncan asked her to come out with him for a bit then they would all meet somewhere down town. She agreed…
By the time they got into a dingy looking dive Daisy was trying to get away from here. It was gross and felt off. She should have listened to her instincts. Because by the time she was thoroughly freaked out and ready to make a run for it Reyna, Chad and Shaun showed up at the place she was. Her text from earlier had gone through. But by then it was too late. The vampires had them all then. And they wanted her the others were just suffering from “wrong place, wrong time” syndrome. They were all put into body bags (YES BODY BAGS!) and escorted off. When they arrived at the nest Daisy was taken inside, made to change into a little bit of nothing and tied to a bed. When she woke up she was in extreme pain, lethargic and being carried off by some unknown man.
When she was able to see her hero it was someone she had seen out at the clubs. He had black wings that made her want to run her fingers through them. Mayanne, a witch was looking her over as Owen -her hero- held her in his lap because she refused to let go of him. Mayanne told her she was put under a witches curse. Seems Daisy was something special. She was meant for a paranormal. This was why the vampires were drawn to her? Maybe, that and they are pigs. But its Owen -her blond Adonis- that has caught her eye. Her friends had been rescued and their memories erased but hers couldn’t be touched.. so as she is falling asleep to rest she asks him for a kiss… and then something inside her awakes.
To be a starting novella there was a lot in here. You are introduced to the characters and the type of supernaturals (for the most part) that are there and it lets you see that this is not going to be the average PNR book. I am very excited to start this series.. I’m only one Novella in and have high hopes for it!
I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Seduction's Kiss is a great beginning to the new Allure Chronicles series. It re-ignited my passion for more of Alyssa Rose Ivy's paranormal genius.
Our first glimpse into Seduction's Kiss introduces Reyna and Daisy. Reyna is Daisy's good friend. She is compulsive, go-wherever-the-the-wind-may-blow you kind of girl. and a magnet for trouble. She has cooked up an adventure that will take Daisy on the wildest ride she's ever been on...literally. Daisy is the good girl. Always dresses appropriately, is respectful, and stays out of trouble. She has no idea of the trip on which she is about to embark. But ready or not, here she goes.
As the tale begins, we are present with the young women as they take the drive to New Orleans. Upon arriving at their destination we meet Chad, the "one that got away" from Reyna, and Daisy's suspicions of being third wheel are finally solidified. His buddy Shaun is also present and would love to think of himself as the ultimate lady's man, but may just be a crazy creeper. And then there's the last roomy, Duncan. We are warned that he is a little off-kilter, but have no idea just what kind of side he gravitates to. As would be typical of college-aged students, the group decided that bar-hopping is a priority on their to do list. We follow them as they go from place to place, and are witness to the first brief "moment" for Daisy with Owen. As the night progresses, Daisy finds herself in one infuriating situation after another, and she makes us aware in very plain terms that she really needs for this trip to end. When we see her again, she is contemplating her present situation and decides that she would be better off on her own. After some wandering, she is led to a very interesting shop where she accepts, rather hesitantly, a special gift. Halloween night is the game-changer. We find that this night takes her deep into a world that dreams and nightmares are made of, and then into the arms of an angel.
I loved that Daisy is a no-nonsense kind of gal. Her sweet and polite exterior made way to a strong and self-preserving woman. As I read her interactions with Chad and his friends, I laughed and cringed. Poor girl, I just wanted to pick her up and take her away. Her inner-dialogue was absolutely the best; good thing she had a strong filter! I was so excited when I knew that Owen was going to be included in this story! Add together Daisy's self-made attitude and Owen's protective Pteron nature, and I am pleased to say that the scene is set for another hot paranormal-romance read.
4 full moons - 'Seduction's Kiss' by Alyssa Rose Ivy I read the first full book to the Allure Chronicles, Lure before reading Seduction's Kiss, so before I start my review I want to say I highly recommend reading the novella before the first book. One of the reasons why I decided to read Seduction's Kiss after reading Lure was to figure out what happened to the main characters beforehand. Alyssa Rose Ivy touches base in Lure on what happened, but I definitely enjoyed reading the prequel too. I got to read how Daisy ended up in NOLA in the first place and what kind of dilemma she had got herself in. I got to read her reaction to finding about the paranormal world and also her first reaction to Owen. All I can say is Seduction's Kiss is the perfect prequel to going into Lure. I read it within a hour, so it's a really quick read. Readers that are anxiously waiting for Lure after reading Seduction's Kiss. I can see why after the ending Alyssa Rose Ivy left in the prequel. Don't worry you'll be able to find out what happens very soon. =) Now that I've read Seduction's Kiss, I feel I understand what happened in Lure better. I wish I would've read it first, but after I started Lure I had a hard time putting it down. My husband can vouch how difficult it was (but that is my Lure review). I won't go into discussing Seduction's Kiss since it's a short novella and don't want to give anything away. Let's just end my review with me giving it 4 stars, and highly recommending it to New Adult Paranormal readers out there. Also, make sure to read my review on Lure. =)
I bought this story in an anthology when I saw the book by Alyssa Rose Ivy.
I am KIIIINDA in love with this author and her NA Paranormals. I loooove loooove loooove the Crescent Chronicles from which we meet Owen. He is a tormented soul and I have been dying for his book. When I found out he was getting a series.....HEART ATTACK!!!
The novella is really a glimpse into Owen's love interest Daisey. if you read the CC series you know Owen has his heart broken and is pretty much not looking for love. Well this book we meet Daisey. She approaches him and trypical Owen has noooo clue he is being hit on at a bar. I am guessing Jared is with him and tells Daisey he is sorry Owen is so stupid. Anyway, besides rejection from Owen, she deals with her friends DB roomate putting the moves on her. Well poor Daisey has had it so she goes shoping and stumbles into a voodoo shop. She is given a special potion to help her find love....welll that potion worked but it worked on the WRONG guy/guys...yes plural.
The end of the novel we get to see and hear Owens thought about Daisey. I cannot wait for more from this series. If you want to get to know Owen before this series starts then I whole heartly suggest reading from the very begining - Ali and Levi's love story.
I really wasn't sure what I was getting into when I started reading Seduction's Kiss by Alyssa Rose Ivy. When I first heard of it, I remember thinking it looked good and I was interested in it...but that was all I remembered ;) So I was looking for a book to start and swiped open the cover, started and BOOM! I was hooked!
Daisy thinks she is just along for the ride for a Halloween weekend away to New Orleans. Begrudgingly accompanying her roommate, who is meeting up with an ex. She didn't have high hopes for the weekend but never expected it to go quite the as awry as it went!
I truly enjoyed this prequel. It was a quick read that hooked me and left me wanting to know even more. I liked how down to earth Daisy was, yet how she was also open to the paranormal. The juxtaposition really worked. And the side characters were great - just the right amount of creep, humor, appeal and sexy.
I am so happy that I was introduced to Alyssa Rose Ivy’s works and will be eagerly awaiting the next book in this series, Lure!
I received a complimentary copy, in exchange for an honest review.
Seductions kiss is book #0.5 and the prequel Novella in the allure chronicles.
I first encountered this author when I grabbed Flight book #1 in the crescent chronicles I was hooked so when I was offered ARCs of Seductions Kiss and book #1 lure in exchange for honest reviews I was a super happy bunny.
Seductions kiss is a super quick prequel that shows Daisy and Owen meeting.
This is very quick so we don’t get to know any of the characters that well but I already know that I’m going to like Daisy. She’s sweet but there’s some sass hidden and the New Orleans paranormals will definitely bring that out of her.
I was first introduced to Owen in the Crescent Chronicles series and he is sooo lovely. He is brooding and quiet but there’s an incredibly attractive intercity that draws you in.
Daisy apparently attracts trouble because in less than 24hrs in New Orleans she manages to get involved with a witch a nest of vampires and a pteron.
This novella is the perfect taster to get you back into the paranormal genre.
One of things a good prequel does is hook you for the series, and Seduction's Kiss definitely fits that bill. Meant to give background for the upcoming Allure series and how Daisy and Owen meet, it pulls you in right away and doesn't let go.
The book sports a great cast of characters; Daisy is a great lead female, strong, smart and cares about her friends. We don't get to see a lot of Owen, but he comes across as the strong, quiet and protective type-and of course hot and sexy. The supporting characters come across as fully developed with their own quirks and attitudes.
I was totally absorbed by this story, and really enjoyed the introduction it gave into this new world the author has created. I can't wait to read Lure, the first full book of the series, and see where everything is headed since the author has intrigued me with Seduction's Kiss. And after all-with witches, vampires and Pterons...I can tell I'm in for a great ride.
If you're a paranormal fan, you'll definitely want to pick up Seduction's Kiss ASAP...5 stars!
Intriguing start to this series - there is a lot going on and I can't wait to get more in depth with the characters.
Seduction’s Kiss is an enticing start to what looks like a thrilling paranormal series.
The novella sets the background for the series in an action fueled thrill-fest.
There is a lot going on in a short amount of time. Hints regarding the paranormal societies are sprinkled through the narrative encouraging a desire for more information.
The characters are well developed even though we only really get to know Daisy the most, due to the narrative being told from her perspective. She doesn’t really see herself clearly and has a fair amount of doormat tendencies, although she does recognize the problem and makes attempts to overcome it. She is a fiercely loyal friend and surprisingly, has a good deal of common sense. You’ll understand why I say surprisingly, when you read it ;)
I have to say I think Alyssa has me hooked, I cannot wait to find out what happens next :)
I loved Alyssa Rose Ivy's Crescent Chronicles series, as well as her spin-off series, The Empire Chronicles. It was in these series that we came to know and love Owen. Seduction's Kiss is the prequel to Ivy's new series, The Allure Chronicles, and is Owen's story. In this short prequel you dive head first into the middle of all kinds of paranormal activity set in the heart of New Orleans. Though, short, Seductions Kiss is action packed and delivers a punch in a small package. Ivy has set the stage for what looks to be an awesome story.
I liked the world building, the character building is done quite well in this short span but I felt like this might be too much of the usual PNR dramas. So I am not sure if I will read more of the series.
This is a very interesting read. I am extremely excited to read the next book in the series! The trouble Daisy had gotten in was very imaginative! I loved it! Alyssa has an amazing imagination! Love her books!
