In Uncomfortable Either Way, Brett Eaton explained the importance of choosing to be uncomfortable and the hidden power of doing so. He begins the book by stating that in his 15 years of studying high performers they don’t obtain or grow or discover their strengths when life is easy and it’s going great. He was born in Bergen, New Jersey. He had an older sister who was smart and he found his identify in sports. He played in basketball, football, and baseball. In his sophomore year, he developed back pain and the doctors couldn’t figure out what to do. They instructed on his taking the year off and not working out or doing sports. This led to him becoming out of shape and he became the weakest in his sport. He chose to do something about it and he began to work out again and got a job in construction something to force him into developing the muscles back. Another lesson he learned was when the unimaginable happened. He was at a friend’s house when he got summoned to the hospital. His father has a heart attack at age 52 and died. This taught him how to play on the offense and to get up and get moving and make the impact that we know deep down we can. Another lesson was they we all will die and none of us know when or how it will happen. This leads us to live in the someday when we need to live in the now. The book touched on 21 strategies to reach your higher performance potential.

This book is an excellent read in realizing the power of being uncomfortable and how to look at it in a fresh perceptive. It was interesting in reading how choosing the easy way out is hurting us and help us to minimize regret. I liked how he discussed practical ways in accomplishing goals that we personally want to achieve. He is a very motivated speaker and teacher and this book will encourage readers to transform their lives. I would recommend this inspiring book to anyone who is tired of being struck in rut and they are ready to become uncomfortable and grow into the person they were intended to be.

A bold, invigorating, and deeply practical guide to breaking through complacency and reclaiming your potential.

In Uncomfortable Either Way: Why Choosing Easy Is Making Your Life Hard, Brett Eaton delivers an electrifying manifesto for self-mastery and growth. Drawing from his vast experience as a keynote speaker and high-performance coach, Eaton distills twenty-one proven strategies that empower readers to trade short-term comfort for long-term fulfillment. His message is refreshingly direct: life’s discomfort is unavoidable, so choose the kind that leads to transformation.

What makes this book compelling is Eaton’s blend of motivational grit, psychological insight, and heartfelt authenticity. Through personal anecdotes, client stories, and a wealth of actionable guidance, he invites readers to reframe discomfort as a powerful ally rather than an adversary. Concepts such as “minimizing regret,” confronting the “Confidence Criminals,” and harnessing fear as fuel are not just catchy ideas, they are deeply applicable frameworks for real, lasting change.

The tone is equal parts coach and confidant: tough love balanced with compassion. Eaton doesn’t just tell readers what to do; he walks with them through the mental trenches of resistance, fear, and self-doubt. Each chapter builds a sense of forward momentum, inspiring readers to act rather than merely aspire.

Uncomfortable Either Way is more than a self-help book, it’s a call to action for anyone tired of living below their potential. It reminds us that the life we desire lies on the other side of discomfort, and that courage, consistency, and self-honesty are the true measures of success.
