It hasn’t been a smooth ride for Skylar Wolfe since her last collaboration with Norcrest’s Police department…
She is beyond annoyed that Aiden, her broody and delicious detective, hadn’t even bothered to call or show up for moviethon. So in true Skylar fashion, she decides to head into the station to get on his case and maybe score a new case in the process. What she finds one of Norcrest’s upper-crust in a cranky mood. Her daughter is missing and she is on a rampage, yapping at anyone that will listen. Of course, Skylar couldn’t resist screwing with her just a bit. And to the average person, Skylar is brash and hard to digest, but to the uppity Mrs. Vivienne Cox, she is incorrigible. Even still, Aiden decides to bring her in on the case.
Missing person cases were Skylar’s favorite. She dives right in. So did Collette Cox run away from her “oppressive” rich party life or was it something more nefarious?
If you look in the local coffee shop or bookstore you might just find Mariana Thorn. She can usually be found with headphones in and deep into the worlds she has created. There is this thing about her pens if you touch them you might receive a smack to the hand and the well-known glare of destruction. As a child all her stories involved horses, horses and more horses. There might have been a slight obsession. Writing became more serious in her early twenties but she never dreamed of publishing until much later. Mariana participates yearly in the international event called NANOWRIMO. She has even been known as a Municipal Liaison for that crazy event. There is nothing like the feeling of encouraging other writers, she would say. Outside of writing one of her favorite places to sit and read are the sunny beaches of Florida. At home in Washington State her favorite activity is riding horses up on the mountain trails. She has an awesome group of family and friends that keep her in coffee and encouragement. Then there is her best buddy Tony, her little dog. She suspects he will try and take over the world someday.
LOL! Funny and sweet! Skylar is back at it. She has an attraction to the new detective and may or may not be mad at him for not calling or texting her. She goes to the police station trying to get another consulation job. Naturally, using her powers of persuasion, she lands a missing persons case that she can't wait to figure out. Following Skylar and her crazy antics will have you smiling through the whole story. She has an intense personality but speaks sarcasm fluently. All the characters just go together like peanut butter and jelly.
"Missing person’s cases were fun. It was like a giant game of hide and seek."
There is no way you can read this story and be in a bad mood. Can't wait for the next one!
Skylar is still quirky and funny in this installment. She is bored and goes looking for a case from the police. What she ends up with is a missing persons that is all to mysterious. She teams up with Aiden once again and she tries to keep telling herself why she can't like him. Join Skylar in a fun and crazy mess!
An enjoyable, quick read about my favorite snarky detective. I do wish the story had been more fleshed out and you do need to read book 1 to get a good understanding of the characters in this book. I look forward to reading book 3.
Skylar is back at it and with her cousin Levi trying to solve the mystery of what happened to CeCe. And what is up with her and Alden -- is the chemistry between these two going to grow into something more. Can't wait to read book 3 to find out.
