What's Love??? #3

Reluctantly in Love

Rate this book
White picket fences and fairy tale endings aren't in Roxanna Moss's vocabulary. If she’s learned anything at all from her parents’ failed relationships, it’s to keep a lid on her emotions and the walls secure around her heart. As a PI in training by day and a writer by night, she doesn’t have time for a relationship, anyway.

What she didn’t plan on was Dr. Walker…

Chase Walker’s piercing blue eyes and sexy smile make it difficult to keep her heart in check. Even solving the biggest case of her career can’t distract her from the irresistible man heating up her sheets. Chase has her questioning everything she thought she knew about relationships, and denial can’t change the fact that she’s falling madly, deeply, and reluctantly in love.

Once upon a time, there was a young girl who wrote sappy poetry about every relationship gone wrong. She had her heart broken many times before the man of her dreams stepped off a big Navy ship and swept her off her feet, promising to never hold her shoe obsession against her.

From that day forward, she swore she’d never again write sappy poetry of unrequited love. Instead, a sucker for smooches and happily-ever-afters, Niecey Roy now writes contemporary romance inspired by her sailor’s sexy brown eyes and charming sense of humor.

Get ready to laugh your butt off and cry at the same time! - 5+++ stars

I have been anxiously waiting for this final book to come out in the What's Love??? Series. Gen and Lexie were wonderful characters, but I've had a soft spot for Roxanna from the beginning. At the young age of eight (?), she nearly ran over the Gorecki twins on her pink scooter and they have been inseparable ever since. From the other two books in the series, I've been able to glean that Roxi has had a rough life, even though she has a really nice house and doesn't hurt for money. Sometimes, when we are deprived of the love of a parent at an early age, it leaves invisible scars that last a lifetime.

I love how sassy and spunky Roxanna has been drawn in all three books. She's definitely got moxy and a heart of gold for others, but she keeps her heart locked away when it comes to guys. She wants nothing to do with the fairy tales Lexie has always believed in or the white picket fences that Gen was looking for. She wants to get her kicks when she wants them and be able to walk away when she is ready to.

I was hoping that Gen would keep working on setting Roxi up with Matt's best friend (the doctor), even though Roxi wanted nothing to do with it, saying it would be too complicated to date her best friend's boyfriend's best friend.

After being tricked into meeting Chase on a camping trip, she finds that he is someone that she would love to spend time with and they end up having fun on the canoe trip. He has her wondering about her rules and breaking them left and right. Even though she wants to deny the attraction, she finally has to admit that she has fallen, reluctantly, in love with him. But, will it be too late by the time she gets up the nerve to face him again?

I just absolutely love Niecey's writing style. She draws you in and makes you feel like you are a part of this group of friends. I know this is the last book in this series, but I really hope we see more of these characters somewhere down the line. Don't miss this one.

Let me start off by saying that I loved the first two books in this series…like A LOT. I really liked Roxanna from the other books, so I was excited to read her love story. Having said that, this book was really slow starting up, and had wayyyy too much missing cat story and not enough Roxanna and Chase story. Plus, the ending was so abrupt that it left me saying “oooookayyy.”

On the plus side, I really like Roxanna and Chase. I want to punch Roxanna’s parents in the face, but that’s not important. As always, Neicey Roy is a fab writer and I have no complaints in that department. I would really recommend Another Shot at Love and Done with Love, but not this one so much.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Silly story, silly heroine. Was bored with this one until the love interest, Chase, showed up. Lots of steamy, sexy chemistry, just not enough to save the story. The lame plot got in the way of the romance, then the heroine screws up the romance. More goofy story and finally the couple reunites at the 98% mark and I'm left thinking what the hell?!? Calling this one a definite pass.

Things just got real for wacky, risky, never emotionally attached Roxanna when she starts to see some of those traits slipping away the more she hangs out with Chase Walker. Her only example of a relationship was her parents who bitterly split and her mother told her to never give her heart to a man. That's the last thing she wants to happen.

I thought Roxanna was a lot of fun as the BFF in books 1 & 2 but it's great to see all of her in her own story! All her crazy antics and schemes and accident-proneness in awesome shoes. You go girl!

This book didn't grab me like the other two in the series. It was still entertaining with a cute little love story but I didn't get hooked. Maybe it was because it was about Roxanna, my least favorite of the three? Maybe it was because I missed Lexie & Gen's family? This could also be on me...I may have hit my limit on romance novels and my reaction to this book could be purely timing. I did like the addition of a bit of mystery in this story.

This was a really entertaining story and series. I read all three books this month, and my review is very similar for all; they are great romantic comedies to pass the time, lift the spirit, always keeping in mind those guys are way to perfect to be real... But.. we can always dream, right?
Each of the characters add to the story and I love the way the details add value to the stories and the plot. I really enjoyed reading this series and will be looking for more books by this author.

Roxana Leigh Moss is the main character of this story. She is the best friend of Lexie and Gen (Another Shot at Love and Done with Love shares their happily ever afters). Roxana has had a tough life in the love and family department due to her parents constantly fighting, arguing, abandoning her and leaving her in Nebraska by herself. She has always looked at men as if they were always one step closer towards the door and love wasn't EVER going to happen for her. But, she had never been more wrong!

Roxana is the sassy, crazy, daredevil that every woman wishes she could be. The author really gives her character some added flare in the first two books. But, when it comes to her story, the author throws in her insecurities and fears lying up under that pride. She meets Chase Walker and he is one of those characters that you just love immediately. He is fun, he knows how to handle everything manly, and he's a sucker for humor. Both characters mesh well in this love story and I was sad when the ending strolled around all too soon. The character that I enjoyed the most was Richard. He is so geeky, but also kind and when he is not oblivious to the women in his life, he would do anything for his three new best friends. I would only hope that the author decides to write his happily ever after as book four and finality of this series.

This world that the author has created with Gen and Matt, Lexie and Leo, as well as Roxanna and Chase are all so terrific and absolutely invigorating books to read. I recommend them all, but I really enjoyed Roxanna's story the most. I thought that I would enjoy Lexie's story the most but Roxanna's really made me laugh and enjoy laughing throughout the read. It is nice to be enthralled with the seriousness of the connection between both characters but humor is one of the sparks that keeps me in the moment. I give this read five stars like all the rest of her "What's Love" Series because they were truly fantastic.

The spunky Roxanna finally gets her own book in Reluctantly In Love! It is now her turn to tell her story and it is just as crazy as you would imagine. Right off the bat, she is up to some craziness with a missing cat, aliens, and stake outs. Only Roxanna could find herself in these situations.

On top of that her dating situation is a mess.. That is when her best friend Gen steps in and sets Roxanna up with Matt's best friend, a the doctor named Chase. Because Roxi is so against being set up, they had to do it in a crazy way, which leads to hilarity and Roxi and Chase ending up becoming friends (at least for now).

Chase wants to give it a chance with Roxi, but Roxi has mean reasons why it won't work out. So, friendship it is. But when Roxi FINALLY realizes Chase is the perfect guy, she gives up and just runs with it. Roxi has "issues" because of her parents and their craziness. She isn't sure what a real and normal relationship should look like, so she is not sure how to have one with Chase. She tries and he is understanding. Chase seems to be the perfect guy. He puts up with all of Roxi's craziness and you can't help but love him.

I love Niecey's books. They always make me laugh out loud. This one was no different. Her characters are crazy funny, with realistic problems.

***ARC REVIEW***
Niecey Roy is an absolutely amazing author. I have read most of her books and cannot get enough.

Roxanna is an amazing girl. She is independent, determined, and confident. When she sees something she wants she goes after it. She is in the procesa of working with her cousin at the family security company and writing to become an author. She has been single for a while and all her friends are trying to hook her up. Seeing as she continually turns them down they decide to trick her into at least meeting the man they want to hook her up with. The moment Roxanna lays eyes on Chase Walker she is speechless. As she gets to know Chase she fights her feelings for him believing she cannot love. She soon realizes that maybe she can love.

Chase Walker is an insanely sexy doctor. He has heard all about Roxanna and would love to meet her but she refuses. On a camping trip where Roxanna is tricked into meeting him he is instantly taken by her and her clumsy ways. He does all he can to show that he truly lives her and that she is capable of loving him back. When she pushes him away he decides she has to be the obe to chase him and win him back.
Will true love preside or will Roxanna sabotage it?

I cannot wait to read more of Niecey's work! She is an amazeballs author.

I've previously reviewed the first two books in the series and was eagerly awaiting Reluctantly in Love. I've been waiting for Roxanna's story, just so I could figure out what her story really was. Well, Ms. Roy didn't disappoint in laying it all out there in this book! What I wasn't expecting was a hottie like Dr. Chase Walker. Oh boy, I didn't even cared that he had pecs to die for because he was sweet, like toothache sweet, but not unrealistically so. He was gracious, gallant, and oh man can he bring a girl to her knees with one kiss. Roxanna isn't too impressed, but then she's not like most girls. She's done with love, never even given love a shot, and has no intention of being in love, reluctantly or otherwise. When her parents came to visit her whole world blows up like a glitter bomb gone wrong and after a bottle of vodka and heels to die for she blew it, royally. Mixed in with this love story is Beverly's missing cat, Pretzels, and an alien wearing a thong. Seriously, if you're looking for love AND laughter then you need to read the What's Love???? series! I give Reluctantly in Love....5 cups of holy hell he's hot coffee!

I was eagerly anticipating this third book in the series. Roxie is my kind of gal. She's a kick-butt first, take names later kind woman who is set in her ways and doesn't let anyone tell her otherwise. She's also very giving to her friends, loyal and funny.

Gen and Lexie, twin sisters who happen to be Roxie's besties are constantly trying to set her up with guys. After witnessing the turmoil of her parents marriage, Roxie's convinced that the last thing she wants is love. Friends with benefits works just fine for her.

Then she meets Dr. Chase Walker, and as hard as she fights it, feelings for him go beyond casual. Chase is sexy, sweet and an overall good guy. He puts up with Roxie's idiosyncrasies with no question

This book is no less funny than the previous two. Again, the supporting characters lend so much to the book.

I would absolutely love to see more from Niecey on these characters. They are too funny to not be in more books!

And like Done With Love, you dont have to read the first two books, but I recommend it to get a feel for everyone!

This is the 3rd book in the What's Love series. Now if you are not firmilar with this series each book can be read as a standalone. The series starts with Another Shot At Love and then goes to Done With Love. The same main characters move on in the series but each book features a different main character. So, with that said the third book is Reluctantly In Love and it is Roxanna's story.
Roxanna is a fun loving chick who is a little crazy maybe and loves drama. She cracked me up in the first two books so when I found out that this book was about her I knew I was in for some laughs. I was right! There were full blown laughs, chuckles, and giggles and just a whole lot of feel good sexy fun. Poor Chase didn't know what his best friend was getting him into trying to set him up on this blind date. This is definetly a must read and it will having you smiling and falling in love with these wonderfully fun characters with a little bit of sexy on the side.

*****SPOILERS*****

I liked this book, but I gave it 3 stars just because of the ending. It felt rushed and there was no real reconciliation with her parents, especially her relationship with her mother. I think that for real reconciliation she probably would have had to get therapy instead of just making up in her mind all of a sudden she's going to change her feelings toward her father.
At the end she makes up with Chase but we don't get to see more and it left me feeling like the scene was ended prematurely.
I also felt like the alien thing and her relationship with Chase were two totally separate stories that were combined and I don't really know if they fit well. I did enjoy reading it, but I'm not sure how well it flowed.

Do you like books that make you laugh? Books that give you butterflies? How about books with a little steaminess? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you need to read Reluctantly in Love. Roxanna Moss is a very impulsive, bold-move kind of girl and her antics (and mishaps) will leave you gripping your stomach from laughter. She’s never been in love, nor been willing to let herself. She’s been taught that men leave. But the gorgeous Dr. Chase Walker gives Roxanna a run for her money, testing everything she thought she knew about men. Trust me, you need this book on your shelf!

If you haven't picked up a book by Niecey Roy what are you thinking?!?! Pick one up now. Niecey's writing will draw you into the characters and leaving you wanting more. Reading this you will enter all sorts of emotions, from laughing at Roxanna's klutziness and crazy schemes to feeling for her. I can't even pick my favorite part of these book because it was all so good. You will definitely lose yourself to Roxanna's story - her past, her current life, and will leave you wanting to see her future.

A fun read!!

I loved is book. Roxanne is so funny!! There is never a dull moment with her. She is feisty, funny and so accident prone. She finally meets someone, Matt, but can't get over the fact that her father leaves her mother and divorce. She has been told as a young girl to never get involved and fall in love with a man. Follow this fast pace fun loving girl and see where she ends up.
Hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!!
Happy reading!!

Enjoyable read; however, felt the ending was a tad rushed, abrupt. Needed more character development. Started off okay. Would've liked to see some closure with her parents. Was great getting updates on the characters from previous books.

Reluctantly In Love is a super funny and and really sweet book. Roxie just cracked me up! I did find a few parts to be overly detailed and maybe could have been edited out. But overall if you love a good romantic comedy book, I would recommend this one!

This is definitely my favorite story of the series. I love how Chase makes Roxanna into a hot mess. The hilarity ensues with all the times Roxi accidentally injures Chase. So funny and heart warming in the end as well. Loved this series!
